The Moto G7 has a large notch which can be covered but remains a waste of space. The app 'Battery Meter Overlay' puts a nice battery percentage in that space and looks nice.
I have no connection to this app other than as a pleased user.
kinda wonky
How did you get the battery percentage to be along side the battery icon? On my G7, going to Settings>Battery> Enable Battery Percentage puts the numeric inside the icon. It is virtually unreadable there.
Forgot to add, I'm on stock rom.
Works for me. Thanks

Yes, I have the same question. I just want the percentage, but not inside the battery icon. That one is too small to read. Any suggestions?

It has been awhile but I removed the notch, and it now appears on the outside.
Code:
settings/developer options/display cutout — chose hide.
how'd u remove notch exactjy? where is the dev options?
Steps to add the battery icon next to the battery bar:
1. Go to About phone -> Build number
2. Tap 7 times on the build number continuously - Till there is a toast message that you are now a developer (if it prompts for your pin/password enter that)
3. Now go back and go into System -> Advanced
4. Under Advanced you'll find an option for Developer options
5. Go into Developer Options and search for "display cutout" or "notch"
6. In the display cutout option, select "Hide"
7. Now go back into Settings -> Battery -> Turn on Battery Percentage
8. It will still show inside the battery icon. Need to reboot so as to bring the battery percentage next to the battery icon
9. After restarting your phone, you'll see the battery % next to the battery bar
10. You can now turn off the developer options (Settings -> System -> Advanced -> Developer Options -> Toggle Off) or once again search for display cutout or notch (as mentioned in Step 5) and change it back to System Default
11. Now the battery percentage will be present even after hiding the notch
Note - Please see that after restarting your phone this will be back to inside the battery icon/bar.
Nice try, but this is lost on reboot.

How to show percentage on the battery icon in CM7?
Thx)
Is this really on CM7? Or for that need to install additional software?
stop bumping your own thread.
its not available yet, as a workaround: go into cm settings -> lock screen -> always display battery status... and battery % will appear on ur lock screen
or revert back to stock and apply http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=940742

Ok. Thanks.
I didn't find any way to enable battery percentage on 6.0. Android M is supposed to have battery percentage built in system ui tuner. I know there is an app on play store but it displays small percentage number inside the battery icon. Is there another alternative to display battery percentage without 3rd party app?
EDIT: The developer options and System UI Tuner are two different options. To Enable system UI tuner. Swipe down your notification window from top. Touch and hold the gear icon for 10 seconds and then release the icon. Enable the battery percentage in System UI tuner
It's there. Have you enabled the system ui tuner? It's shown as a new menu entry under "about phone" in the menu, at least for me.

Not sure if it is version specific, but the XT-1540 System UI Tuner has the option to show the battery percentage. The percentage is shown in the battery icon. I believe that is all that is supported without using a third party app.

In the quick settings, press and hold the system icon for 10 seconds to enable system tuner. Then you will have the option to enable battery percent in system tuner.
Wow, I didn't know that existed. Glad to know it does. @Yousvel method worked for me.

Thanks. I thought developer options was the same thing as the System UI tuner in 6.0. I enabled it now but it the percentage is still embedded inside the battery icon and it is very small. They should add a big battery percentage alongside battery icon in the next release.

This percentage symbol is just something that has been built into pure AOSP Android since KitKat... this toggle is nothing but an enable/disable (it is disabled by default). It performs the exact same function as Battery Percent Enabler, Moto doesn't mess with the UI much, if at all.

Better this small one than nothing. It was not there before!
One of my biggest pet peeves and first world problems, is the battery icon or % or anything battery related whatsoever showing itself on my phone. I do not want to see the battery life displayed anywhere ever on my phone, it's too stressful and pisses me off seeing it. I know when my battery low, and will check it in the Settings menu myself like once a day, or see it when charging.
How do I get rid of the battery icon and % from showing in the lockscreen status bar ? I use the Xposed Wanam app to hide the battery icon on the home screen status bar. But for some reason I still see it on the lockscreen.
I have the T-Mobile Note 5, running an International Marshmallow ROM. I am using the latest official T-Mobile firmware, bootlloader, and modem. But previous Lollipop ROM's I was always able to hide any battery stuff on the lockscreen.
Any suggestions ?
Lockscreen showing the damn ugly and stressing me battery icon WHICH I NEVER WANT TO SEE EVER ON MY PHONE
Homescreen, without the battery icon, which is perfect.
Settings > Battery > Display Battery Percentage. Not sure you can disable the battery entirely tho.

Did that, and it get only gets rid of it on the main homescreens, not the lockscreen.
Man I've been away from android for a good year and a half. But is there no setting anymore to turn off the battery percentage in the notification bar? I can't find it anywhere. I hate seeing the percentage and the battery.
And the back/switcher buttons down below. You used to be able to have them always off, always on, or change the time etc. Can't find that either. Maybe I'm just lost. Seems there used to be a lot more options in settings. Lol
Settings > Device Maintenance > Battery > open menu and click on Advanced Settings > Percentage on Status Bar
Will let you hide the percentage icon and have only the battery icon itself.

This app will allow you to control your button lights.
