Google pay with rooted phone - OnePlus 6 Questions & Answers

Google pay still does not let me pay in stores, because I have root. I have Blu_spark with Magisk and enabled Magisk Hide on Gpay
What can I do?
Thank you!

Try to use Magisk Canary, It's working for me
Magisk Settings: "Update Channel" to "Custom" and paste
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/topjohnwu/magisk_files/master/canary_builds/canary.json into the box, restart Magisk and install the update.

I suffered same problem with new google play version and my rooted S4 mini , in PIE, OREO and Nougat indeed, and it was fixed.

Magisk Core mode works, but using Magisk beta v19 with Magisk Hide works perfectly too !

Hey there im looking for a while now but i cant seem to find a legit/trusted way to root my shield. I realy want to root it because i like fully customizing my devices and modifying apps. Please leave links to the right working software versions. I prefer: twrp, super su as the software to root my device. Also adb and the drivers are needed. Im not realy familiar with the new way of rooting. The only device i have ever rooted was a samsung tablet on 4.4 kitkat with a 1 click root app. All help is appreciated!

Is there also any proof that it will work and will the stock nvidia apps stay after rooting???
Also thanks!!!
Is this video still really working on 7.0 os 5.2?
Also I heard you don't need shield family drivers on win 10 is that true???

I know you've already accomplished it. But just for the record, yes there is proof it works. Plenty of folks have rooted with both SuperSU and Magisk. Both work, and I've also used both to root this device; and the NVIDIA apps still work.

I don't think you really need them. Pretty sure I rooted the device without installing the Shield drivers. If any issues connecting to the device, than try the drivers.

Magisk is really cool. Magisk Hide works well, although it's turning into a real cat and mouse game, where Google has been updating Safety net to break Magisk Hide, but then topjohnwu updates Magisk Hide to work again. It's a bit annoying, but topjohnwu seems to have a good handle on it, for now.
Magisk also has a bunch of cool modules. Those are mods that can be toggled off and on, so no need to dirty flash ROMs to "uninstall" mods, etc. You can check out the Magisk module collections in the Magisk forum section.
You might also check out the new suhide, if you don't want to switch to Magisk. Apparently suhide will pass Safety Net. But I haven't checked it out, personally.

Depends on what customizations. Depending on what exactly you are doing, yes you might trip Safety Net.

How are you trying to install? After downloading, try to go to "Modules" in the menu, then tap the + icon, and select the module to install.
Also, go into Magisk Manager settings, and make sure "Magisk Core Mode Only" is not selected.
Not all modules work with all devices, and I also think a lot of the modules have not been updated to the new template for Magisk 13, so that might be causing the problem also.
You might try to download a module(s) from the Magisk forum section, and see if you can install it. Once downloaded, I think it should appear in the Magisk "Modules" section, if you tap the + button (as suggested above). Or alternately, I think you can flash in TWRP. The forum has a lot of cool modules that don't appear in the "Download" section of the Magisk Manager app, so I often download them from the forum threads, anyway.

I know nothing about that particular device, so you should post in that device specific (Nexus 5X) forum, for the most accurate info.
In general for most Android phones, rooting should not affect service through your carrier. They might give you some baloney about not providing tech support for rooted devices, or not being able to "activate" it on their network. But as long as the phone already works on your carrier, rooting will not affect your cell service.

Glad to hear xposed work though.
You might want to add this info in main post :
Install NoDeviceCheck from xposed installer. So at least some app will still working even when safetynet is broken.

Well... SafetyNet is....SafetyNet
https://www.nowsecure.com/blog/2017/08/03/android-apps-google-safetynet-attestation-api/
It normally broken when you root your phone. But Magisk prevent that.
But then, when you install xposed. It will broken again. And stay like that doesnt matter what you do.
A broken safetynet can prevent you from using several kind of app. Mostly financial or banking app. And game, like the famous PokemonGO

Thanks! I can confirm that it´s working on my P20 EML-L29!
Working better Ty so much
Hi !
I installed Xposed via 3 methods (to try each possibility):
-via Magisk Download
-via XposedInstaller315
-via TWRP/Recovery
In all cases all seems to be fine, XposedInstaller shows a green Status Icon and correctly tells the Xposed version.
BUT my desired App (App2VR) shows "Xposed disabled" when starting.
Also 2 other xposed apps i tried (sensor disable & wake up on charge) do not work.
What i am doing wrong ?
OR is P20Pro / 8.1 not fully supported ?
Greetings,
Ender

Google pay error

Running stock ROM not rooted, getting this error? .. bootloader is unlocked though
Google has Google pay check for an unlocked bootloader. If you are unlocked it will fail, you do not have to be rooted just bootloader unlocked for Safteynet to fail. You might as well install Magisk and let it hide that you are unlocked and rooted if you wish to use Google Pay. If you do not want to root, then just relock the bootloader, JUST MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE STOCK RECOVERY AND NO CUSTOM RECOVERY INSTALLED. Otherwise you will brick your device. Also, be aware that relocking your bootloader will wipe all internal data off the phone so backup any photos, files, anything of importance before relocking bootloader.

What are you talking about? I've been using Magisk with passing safetynet since it came out a couple years ago. I just used Google Pay times today with no issues.
The issue is Google will fail Safetynet if you just have an unlocked bootloader and no magisk installed to pass the safetynet checks.

please dont give users the wrong impression
Magisk DOES hide it.
i have an unlocked bootloader, TWRP, MAGISK, and a custom kernel installed
and ive been using google pay for the past week without issues.
Why would I give users wrong impression? It's happening to me!!! Just because it doesn't happen to you or others then it cannot be true?
I've also an unlocked bootloader, TWRP and Magisk installed and Magisk is not hiding specific apps. Simple as that.

Then Magisk must not be installed properly. You must have done something wrong is all I can think of. I use Google pay 2-5 times a day without issue and on the OnePlus 6 since launch, zero issues.

Done that, but made no difference. Just reading on another thread that it appears to be an issue for many.
Magisk Hide works fine out of the box (no alterations) with Google Pay for me.
Historically, when it fails it's because Magisk is out of date.
hallo dare, if you want help, post your Magisk Manager's landing page, then another of your test results. Past that, you should head over to the Magisk XDA thread.
Edit:
I guess I forgot to mention I am on the BETA channel - so not exactly without alteration.

FGO doesn't work even with latest magisk version?

Hi, the title says all, just wanted to ask if someone with canary builds or latest build of Magisk (17.2) without xposed could try to install and run Fate Grand Order (can be downloaded from apk pure if needed).
If error is different from 61 then dev options or USB debug ar enabled, or you have xposed installed.
Thanks in advance!
I'm still getting error 61 on OB3, even with magisk 17,2/Canary.
