Samsung GT P1000 stuck - General Questions and Answers

I wonder if someone could help me. I successfully rooted my old GT P1000 with the intention of updating it from Gingerbreadvto run Jelly Bean. However whilst trying to install Clockwork Mod recovery it seems to be stuck on a black screen showing a phone and a computer with a warning sign showing that the connection between phone and computer has been broken. I used Odin 1.7 to flash Cwm. While I was trying to do this Is I kept seeing a message that the flashing had failed. After several attempts I tried to switch off my tab. After trying to switch it off I got the black screen as described previously. I have tried the usual power + volume button to reset it but it just stays stuck on the same screen. The tab will now switch off but when I switch it back on I get the same black screen. When I attach it to my computer, Odin 1.7 recognises that it is attached. Any help would be gratefully received. Many thanks Michel

Flash the stock firmware for your specific model number via Odin.
Then start over with flashing CWM.

Thanks for that. Do you have any idea where I might find the stock firmware for a P1000
Thanks Michel

Google search for:
"Stock firmware for Samsung P1000"
Or
"Return to stock (your model number)"
You'll probably find it at Sammobile .com or at samsung-updates .com.

Your not reading what were trying to tell you. That is still download mode. Flash the odin tar again
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using Tapatalk 2
It'll happen again and again if you flash often. It may not say download mode BUT IT IS. Simply unplug your phone. Open Odin. Flash. Wait. It will work I promise. If u were fully bricked you would have no screen.

[Q] Bricked GT-3113?

I was trying to update to the JB that was released and got in a hurry (I know..don't hurry). I selected the wrong file in Odin and I am now stuck on the "Firmware upgrade encountered and issue screen" I cannot get the tablet to boot into recovery or into download mode at all. It is stuck on that screen.
Also Kies wont detect the tablet either.
BTW it was on 4.0.4 stock and not rooted when I started this earlier. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Did you try holding down the power button for 10 seconds or so - to see if it would reset and get you back to the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 screen ??
Regards,
Yes I did try that, the error screen will shut off for a few seconds and then comes back on and will repeat that if I hold down the power.button.

My apologies - I have fortunately never encountered that error screen, and if resetting the tab just brings you back to that same screen - I do not have any other suggestions at this time
I am sure someone else will post a reply if they can help
Good luck
Regards,
OK so there may be hope, I had a chat earlier with Samsung support. They said to uninstall Kies, and check if your PC detects the tab when you plug it in and it does do that. Would ADB work as long as it detects the device? If so can someone point me in the direction of some ADB assistance?
Thanks again!
Ok, I was able to fix this. Here is how in case this happens to someone else.
1. Uninstalled Kies
2. Reboot PC
3. Plug in tab and wait for drivers to load
4. Start Odin (I found the DL link in the dev area)
5. download the firmware that you want to load - I had JB
6. extract the md5 file
follow Odin instructions to flash a file, this worked without being in Download Mode.
Congrats - glad it worked out for you

Hello,
If possible, would you be able to make a video of the way you fixed your bricked tablet?
I am at the point of returning the tablet back to amazon.
I know, the tab is in SOFT BRIKE MODE. I just can't make it to work with the original version.
That is what I get for lookin` at videos on youtube.
Thanks, please reply as soon as possible.

Why not flash a rom instead of just doing a restore

I tried to flash cleanRom v1.1 but that only made things worse, now I don't even get to the Samsung screen. I originally used mobile Odin to get the 4.1.1 update but when I did that I started getting a very bad looking multi colored pixellated screen ( see attached) on boot between the tab logo and Samsung logo screens but it still booted, after attempting to flash cleanrom I get stuck on that same bad looking screen. I don't know what to do at this point, I'm still able to get to download and recovery, I need an android genius to help me please I'm begging you

This is because incompatibility between bootloader and kernel LCD identification. Almost all custom ROM not touch second bootloader Sbl.bin partition because not understand this incompatibility will reproduce this problem or fully understand Sbl.bin partition is a very dangerous area. Flash a full package stock firmware (have MLO and Sbl.bin inside) will resolve your problem.
I got my stock firmware from the thread posted by Sergio_f, does that firmware have those files?
Sent from my SPH-L900 using Tapatalk 2
I finally got the stock firmware to flash in Odin, so I am back to stock including recovery, thank you all for your advice, there used to be a great root guide in here somewhere but it seems to have been deleted, is a Shane I really liked the step by step it had

I have the same issue - please help
What I did:
My device Samsung Tab 2 P5113 was on bootloop. I do not remember which version of Android was running on it. So, I followed this forum and using ODIN flashed 4.1.1 stock ROM. The ODIN process was successful. Device restarted -but stuck in starting process. Instead of waiting for couple of more minutes, I powered off the device and then tried to restart it.
It didnt start. It is completely black, even after connecting to PC, no change, my pc not able to detect the device in Device manager.
I am guessing I have flashed wrong Stock ROM 4.1.1 instead of ICS stock ROM. What should I do? I cannot redo this step because ODIN is not recognizing the device.
PLEASE PLEASE help.
---------- Post added at 12:09 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:04 PM ----------
The forum I followed is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1704668
The ROM I flashed using ODIN - P5113UECLK7 (4.1.1)
additional info: I charged the device over the night, but no luck. Please look into it.
Are you trying to charge from a wall outlet or usb.
sent from MY BAD A$$ ET4G
I tried both wall charger and USB charging - no impact.
However, I press Power + vol down button, in device manager it is showing as OMAP 4440 (no drivers installed).
Will there be any chance to make work from here..? Point me any post who used OMAP flash recovery for P5113. I didnt find one.
thanks.
Does your tablet turn on? If it doesnt, you have hard brick :/

[Q] Firmware upgrade failed

Hi all,
I have a Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 and was trying to upgrade to 4.1.2 through this (http://droidviews.com/2013/samsung-...3g-wifi-gets-android-4-1-2-jelly-bean-update/) guide. ODIN finished successfully but on reboot I am at presented with a screen that says Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again.
I plus my tab in via USB and fire up Kies but my device is not found.
I have tried Power+Vol up and Power+Vol down but I am returned to the same screen/message.
Is my best option to let the battery drain then charge and try to get into download mode via Power+Vol up and use ODIN to flash the factory standard image?
If there is another way that would be quicker than waiting for a battery drain I would appreciate any assistance. Actually at the moment I would just appreciate any assistance
TIA
Does ODIN see your tab on the "firmware encountered an issue" screen?

Thanks for the reply
I left it overnight to discharge and tried again this morning and all button combinations end at the same screen.
I have plugged it in this morning for all of about 2 min to get a small amount of charge into it to see if ODIN can see it and it does. Should I try to re-flash it?
Is there a different method based on it's current state?
The author of the post has been kind enough to reply to me and it looks like I may not have been in download mode, but rather in recovery when I flashed it.
I have been flashing ROM's on phones and my old xoom for about 3 years now and this is the first issue I have had. I was even more careful than usual on this one as it was the first change I had made to the tab, I guess it just goes to show that you need to be VERY aware of the different states and what they look like before flashing.
Yeah, I've seen this before, and in those cases the tab was actually in download mode. Try flashing with ODIN.
Posted from my Galaxy Tab 2 with CM10.1
Just re-flashed 4.1.2 firmware again in ODIN and it has worked
Feels a bit sluggish, might do a factory reset to see if that flashes some of the crap out of the upgrade.
Thanks for the replies......much appreciated

Firmware upgrade encountered an issue.

I have a galaxy tab 2 GT-P3113.
Currently it will not do much of anything. I have not touched it in months but decided to try again.
In the past I have flashed many roms and kernels on it and even dual booted it at one point.
It became unstable and slow so I put it back to stock firmware. However it was still very slow and unresponsive like an old XP pc.
I don't remember exactly what I was doing but I assume I tried to reflash the stock firmware again via kies and since then it has been basically bricked.
If it does power on it says 'Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again.'
Well I tried kies and get device not responding. When I plug it in to odin it lights up yellow and if I remember correctly it should be green. However I cannot even get it into download mode to use odin. I am afraid I have completely bricked it. Does anyone have any suggestions?
