G9700 thread - Samsung Galaxy S10e Questions & Answers

Seems root close to finished for S10 exynos.

Any activity ongoing for the unlocked snapdragon ?
Maybe time to start an bounty for root and an functional TWRP? I am in for 50 USD

Me and my colleagues received our G9700 today.
How does that bounty stuff works? How you make sure the money reaches the person and everyone pays? I remember from the S6 Active we got a bounty together >1000 USD but still no one was rooting it. What is required to port TWRP to an phone?

If root was found for the 9700, would that trip Knox? I'm concerned about Samsung Pay.

Can we unlock the bootloader on HK model?

From what I am reading, yes. Unsure if rooting works but I think those are.
I am interested.

The answer will always be yes as of this writing. Whether there will be a bypass to get it working anyway though would be another question, but surely knox will be tripped by rooting, so don't count on it. Being a hardware fuse, it's not reversible.

Im having issues with my phone randomly rebooting/powering off with magisk installed. When im not in magisk mode there are no issues. If you have this problem as well or know anyone with a Hong kong s10 model that also has this issue, please leave a comment on my github issue request on Magisk github. There doesn't seem to be a solution.

Verizon 5.1.1 Root??

Sorry, but I have searched, and can't find a direct answer, is 5.1.1 rooted for Verizon?
Where can I find the guide if it is.
Currently I am rooted on 5.02, have been delaying any OTA since purchase, rooted using Ping Pong
Thanks in advance
Anxiously awaiting this myself...I do know that Verizon locked the bootloader on or before 5.1.1 and as far as I know there is no root...yet.
Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
It does not exist. Not even the top rom makers and programers have been able to do it. The 5.1.1 update will also make it so you can't go backwards to 5.0.2. This is the first time since I've owned cell phones that I've seen a company finally beat the cell phone gurus but they finally did it on this one. However if you are not on Verizon or AT&T you can still do it through ODIN.
So if you have a phone pre 5.1.1 that rootable and root it...will you be able to flash 5.1.1?

s4 beat the cell phone gurus... Technically... MDK was unlocked, nothing after that was.
s5 has also never had a bootloader unlock..
Lots of Verizon phones don't have much, root at most....

The video of proof is on YouTube.
It has not been released but I'm sure it will soon. Once that is released it should open things up for the S6.

It will not be released ever. That has been said a few times. It uses(from what I have heard) a Zero Day exploit, meaning it's very damn complicated, and it has a high chance of bricking people's phones. That was never meant to go to the general public. It was aimed at other devs. It's a proof of concept, meaning it CAN be unlocked, just not through that way.

0 day exploits are OS vulnerabilities that the manufacturer themselves aren't aware of. It doesn't necessarily mean that exploit itself has a high chance of bricking the phone.
Not releasing the method could be any number if things. These reasons could range from stolen proprietary source code being used to the exploit's author deciding that he doesn't feel like sharing the method.
I heard that the team that found the method said that they would NOT release it at the moment but that in the future it will be available.

I know that it may not have a high chance of bricking the device, but with the device, I assume it is thanks to shenanigans with Verizon and Knox. I have already discussed legal issues briefly in the s4 bootloader thread... Damn Money Sucking Lawyers. It is what it is. I think it has given some people hope because there IS A WAY... Just maybe not that way.
Maybe hope yet just pay this on google plus not sure if our verizon variant will benefit from this method so correct me if I am wrong but take a look any how.

With the newest software, root is somewhat useless. Xposed may not work correctly, no OTA, plus note 5 has the electronic root thing, so when you tooth the phone, it is tripped and can never be returned to original state, thus, service providers will know it is rooted and may deny repair, replacement.

You do realize sprint doesn't even remotely care right? They just ask that you have "stock" when you have a problem and need the device serviced. However if you are stock rooted this has no bearing whatsoever.

Rooting and unlocking UK Galaxy S6 on EE

Hey guys, I recently purchased a second hand Galaxy S6 (not an Edge variant) and I'm curious as to how exactly, I go about rooting it in order to unlock it. I remember rooting my S3 was relatively straight forward, but this seems a little more complex partly due to just how many options there are for all the different models.
I'm on Android 5.1.1, and my build number is currently: LMY47X.G920FXXU3QOJF
If anybody could point me towards a relevant guide or provide a little more information, that'd be awesome. Cheers!

Neat, thanks for the response!
Would this Kernel suffice? http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...nt/kernel-hacker-kernel-s6-universal-t3254487
Also, as a result, would this make my phone automatically unlocked from all network carriers?
You can use that kernel. I use SpaceX kernel. They are both with autoroot.
I dont know if it unlock all network carriers. I think phone can already support different ROM's from different carriers.
I flashed for example French ROM. And now im on the official dutch again

And I'm gonna go into their store today and see what they can do for me. Apparently, it's only £8.99 for an unlock, I just wondered if there existed any free method.

The S7 got what we called ENGBOOT root. Which was not really full functioning root. It required you to flash a Samsung created engineering kernel, that is purposely unstable, but is designed to help Samsung repair shops fix corrupt devices.
With some tweaking root was achieved, but the bootloader stayed locked. And the performance was so degraded by the engineering kernel MOST people went back to stock and never used root.
Sadly rooting and ROMing most phones is going away. Especially now that Google is providing an easy way for developers to turn off access to an app if the user is rooted. Right now even if you have root you can't use Netflix, Samsung Pay, Android Pay, among many others.
If you want root still I'd look at a 1+ or the Essential phone or the international model if this phone. Otherwise you are probably out of luck.

Yes.
I have been using AdClear for a while now and it works great including in YouTube. The development team has an xda thread that has the downloads and a bunch of great info. Just search xda.
I use BK Package Disabler to freeze apps. It lets you freeze individual processes in apps as well which is great for blocking only certain features of apps. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kunkunsoft.packagedisabler
For making a back to restore I actually like Samsung's Smart Switch. Works great to backup your phone to a computer.
Also in Developer settings you can manually address your DPI, and over in the S8 International threads there is a list of about 40+ fonts that can be installed.

That's what it looks like. Sadly.
We are missing some of the new features of the Chinese version, i wonder why it was absent from this update.
Just got my .192 update

Did this require the .192 update ? Could you link to the details?

First off you need root access. Do you have root?

No root on this device. Is there a mate 20 x rooting thread I missed? I don't want to take this one too far ot.
I know it all starts with boot loader unlock. I didn't mind dropping 20 for a honor note 10 code, but the current price / availability for 20 x isn't worth it. Perhaps you can start a root thread with your details?

Root has been available since about a month after I got my hands on the phone. Bootloader unlock was able to be done with the .172 update.
22$ for unlock code and 2 days.
Now, not even sure it's possible to get a code.

My 9.0.0.192 update arrived in Texas today. I'm a little late to the 20x as I was trying to beat the note 10 into submission (unsuccessfully obviously).
