I stopped getting push notifications on Gmail after enabling the battery saver option on medium. I did enable all notifications in the app settings, and have battery optimization disabled on all apps. Anyone who have had the same problem?
Setting - apps - three dots - battery optimization - Gmail should be in the list of "not optimized"

You're a hero. That worked for me. I'm having another similar issue, but it needed a new thread (https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s10e/help/s10e-loses-location-gps-power-saving-t3918612). Do you have any thoughts?

Hey guys,
I just made a location and time based profile management app called Migrate (publisher Illuvation LLC). This is my first android app and it's free. It's supposed to be an easy to use app. Right now it toggles wifi, bluetooth and ringer. You can also add notes that pop up in the notification bar when you first arrive at a location or a time profile is activated.
I'm already working on new features but i want to make sure that the core of it(the location and time profile switching is solid on different devices). Post any bugs or features that you'd like to see to make this app different from the others. The UI is still a work in progress and I think I'm going to improve the notification layout.
Thanks guys! Just grab it on the market by putting Migrate in quotes or searching by publisher (Illuvation).
Version 1.0.0.322
-New UI
-Google maps for better accuracy when entering address
Version 1.0.0.291
-Time profiles can now be set using days of the week instead of occurring everyday
-Option to disable "default profile" added to "settings"
-Length of time Wi-Fi is used for location polling has been decreased (worst case run time is 10 seconds per poll)
9-7-2011 Version 1.0.0.274
-Fixed bug where text to speech occurred during phone calls
-Migrate will no longer override any changes made to settings outside the app. Migrate will change settings on next profile change
-Improved location polling for better battery life
9-1-2011 - Version 1.0.0.258
-Text-to-Speech now added for all incoming text messages (previously only for reminders).
8-31-2011 - Version 1.0.0.253
-Added text to speech option in settings for reminders
-Notifications now coincide with phone notification settings
-Fixed light notification bug for time profiles
-Improved battery life due to enhanced location polling algorithm
-Faster performance
8-26-2011 - Version 1.0.0.224
-Added automatic reply to text messages
-Enhanced notification bar
-Fixed automatic dismissal of notes on location profiles
-UI changes
No GPS
Forgot to mention. This does not use GPS!!! It's really good on battery life.
very interested mate, going test it. but it shown GPS in screen shot?
I guess i should update the screenshots. That was a mistake. I changed that button to say "Location." Thanks for pointing that out.
New version on the market. Feedback appreciated. Thanks
Any features anyone would like to see?

New version in the market now!!
Text to Speech improved
Added text to speech for all text messages. It'll tell you the sender by checking your contacts and read the message out loud.
Updated the app. Text to Speech no longer occurs during phone calls. The app will no longer override changes made outside the app until another profile is activated.
If you "exit profile manager" through the menu button, does that turn Migrate off? Should there always be an icon in the notification area when it is working?

Exit Profile Manager completely closes Migrate. Yes, when Migrate is running there will always be an icon in the Notification area.

Thanks. Would it be possible to make it an option whether or not to display the notification?

I can make that an option. I'll incorporate that in one of next few updates.
I've found an issue. I have a profile set up to turn on Wi-Fi in a specific location (my apartment). When I left for work this morning it turned off Wi-Fi - good. But throughout the day Wi-Fi will turn on for a short amount of time regularly - I assume when Migrate scans for location. So far, in about 4 hours it's been on for 31 mins - and I haven't left my desk (work is far from home). Could you fix this bug? Thanks!

Has it been on for 31 minutes straight or is that the total time over 4 hours?

That's the total time over 4 hours, in short periods of time.

Working on a fix. It'll put it on the market by the end of the weekend. There's an option in "Settings" to not use the wifi when checking for location in the meantime.
New Version
Updated version now on the market. Change log in main post.
Update
New Version with UI enhancements and Google Maps in Market now.
It seem push notification does not work well with Mate 7... for instance... whatsapp web.. in order for it to read messages at all I need to push the power button constantly to wake it up from sleep..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-7/help/push-notification-data-screen-off-t2985489
I don't know if this has been solved but their is a option on mate 7 which allows you to toggle between notification push and how you handle it when screen is off.
Go into protected apps and enable it and make sure notification manager is set to allow.
i dont see notification manager in protected app.
it's in settings.
Under "privacy & security" you'll see Notification manager and Protected Apps.
From main settings i have only security option no privacy&security.Mine mate 7 is 09-european version.
I'd suggest taking a look at your settings again.
Under "Privacy & Security" section you have:
- Location Access
- Do not disturb
- Notification Manager
- Protected Apps
- Security
- Fingerprint ID
- Backup & Reset
Yes i was in restricted and notification options but there is no option to set notification manager to allow, notify or restrict options.Notification manager is not on the list of apps for which you can set this 3 options or notification manager is with some other name in the main list.

I have misunderstand you.I was thinking thet notification manager have its own settings under restricted apps menu.
Every day i am trying to find solution what to do ,to preserve battery life and i have tried all settings combinations.
Finaly when i have turned off Bluetooth my battery life have more then 2 dayes.I think thet bluetooth eating battery a lot.
Doesn't happen with Kik messenger.
Coming from a Huawei Mate 7 and 8, I'm completely familiar with the "unique" ways of how notifications are handled on Chinese phones and the hoops you have to jump through to make it work. With that said, i think I've met my match. Just received my NS global edition last week and for the life of me, i cannot get notification to work for one of my apps - Nine email. I have done the following:
1. Enable autostart in iManager
2. Grant all permissions (for the hell of it) in iManager
3. Allow all notifications in settings > status bar & notifications
4. Allow background consumption in settings > battery
5. Disable battery optimization in built-in Android battery setting (via GSam Battery monitor)
Despite all that...nothing is happening when the screen is off. I get the notification when screen is on but absolutely nothing when it's off. The phone is completely stock at this point, i have not done any ADB commands of that nature. Does anyone have other places to check that i might have overlooked? Thanks!
need to do this: settings-more settings-applications-installed-your app-permission-single permission settings- than activate all option than go back to notification and enable.what u want.

You're absolutely right! I'm so stupid..i did an export/import of the config for this app from the Mate 8 over and that broke the notification! Notification does work with all of those steps, i just have to do a fresh setup of the app!:good:
Hey guys,
Have already disabled the battery optimization settings (Deep + sleep standby) in the battery settings.
Only Whatsapp notifications show up directly, but other apps like Gmail and Snapchat don't show their notifications directly; only after a bunch of hours.
What can I do?
Hello all,
I've got a newspaper app installed and I did the following in terms of permissions:
- Application data usage - Disabled "Allow background data usage"
- Battery - Disabled "Allow background activity"
- Battery - Enabled "Optimise battery usage"
The still sends me news notifications. Not a lot but enough to concern me that despite my restricting its background activities, the app is still able to check for news and send me notifications. I know I can disable the app notifications but that just means that I won't see them. It doesn't mean that the app will not be able to run in the background and continue to access the internet despite my explicit restrictions.
Am I misunderstanding something here? Please advise.

When did the app send you notifications? Just when you open it, or after you had cleared it from memory?
I open it to read the papers in the morning. Then I close the app and swipe it out from the recent apps menu
