Hi everyone,
I just got my hands on an S6 Edge, and want to root it before I actually start using it.
Now I have been thoroughly searching this forum and also the web to find the latest and safest way of root this phone, but am really unsure about the best practice.
Is there anywhere an up-to-date guide to root?
Is KNOX still an issue? (Not for me personally cause there is no longer guarantee on it)
Some more info about the phone:
Android: 7.0
Build Number: NRD90M.G925FXXU6ERG1
Android Security Patch Level: 1 June 2018
If more info is needed, please let me know.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Best regards,

Does anybody know what the update was about yesterday? I don't seem to notice anything different...was to fix that leak?
Sent From My Galaxy S6 Edge+
Wonder if it was to fix the stagefright vulnerability? I downloaded 3 apps to check for that 2 said I wasn't vulnerable and the 3rd said I still was lol so I'm not sure if I am still or not.

Hello everyone,
I'm new to this so please forgive my ignorance.
I've been looking everywhere for a root solution for my Gal S6 Edge + (ATT) and haven't even found people complaining they cant find anything for my build.
I'm trying to find a compatible root that wont disable or trip KNOX or brick my phone due to ATT iron grip.
Can anyone point me in the right direction; I've been to all the normal places one would look.
Is it so that there isn't a root solution out yet?
I'm on
5.1.1
Kernal Verion 3.10.61-5554916 / Sun Aug 30
Build: LMY47X
Baseband: G928AuCU1A0H5
KNOX 2.5
I can't be the only one with this phone who wants to root; I just want verification that there isn't anything out yet.
I can't stand the ATT apps that auto update even when I tell them not too, I want control of my OWN phone I paid in full for.
Thanks again

There is no root available for our G928A (S6 Edge+) device. With the new update patching the Stagefright exploit, I highly doubt that there will be root for Edge+ on AT&T. Furthermore, if you can't find root chances are that there is no root. You're not the only one that wants root, we all want root for our devices. You can either wait for a solution to come about, deal without root, and/or return the phone and get a phone that has root access.
Thank you for the clarification.
I'll have to wait and keep my fingers crossed.
It's great to buy your own devices and still be controlled by your carrier isn't it..

There won't be root for that device. Sell it before you miss the big boat on pricing and get the international version that has root.

I also need the odin files for 6.0.1! can anyone please help? there's a fiver in it for you
Hi all,
I'm visiting the XDA Forums for the first time, so please excuse my ignorance if I'm posting my article in the wrong location, or am not observing an obvious rule. The reason I'm on here is because I'd like to root my device so that I can install custom roms, and remove the spyware pre-installed onto my device (the Computrace rootkit by Absolute Software).
My device specification is in the title.
I've tried unlocking my bootloader (following a great video from HighOnAndroid) however, the option to do so is not present.
Please can some kind soul help me achieve my objective of liberating my device? I would be very grateful.
Kind regards,
A compete idiot.
instead of rooting install debloater from xda and remove unvanted apps via pc.
Thank you for your kind words of assistance; unfortunately, I do not believe that this will help me tick all of my requirements (custom ROMs). Also, I believe that the Computrace spyware is so low level that this is not really achievable (although I could be mistaken).
I should also mention that my device was supplied by EE (Everything Everywhere) within England (UK - United Kingdom).

Just flash Unikernel with Odin (Get the odin version), than you'll have access to root and a custom kernel. From there you can install TWRP (make sure you have the correct one for g920f) using odin again, with TWRP then you can flash a custom kernel. Be warned though as you will lose your WiFi Calling capabilities.
Thank you. Are there any video tutorials an idiot like myself can follow? I quite often make school-boy errors. Also, will this trip KNOX?
It appears from an article I have read (http://www.galaxys6edgeupdate.com/how-to-root-galaxy-s6-511-update-unikernel/) the model I specified in the title is not supported. Do you know something that has not been explained here? Or was your suggestion slightly incorrect (although I am grateful for your intended objective to help)?

Has anyone a solution to this challenge? Or is this something that is too difficult for the rooting community?
Many thanks in advance!

UniKernel works most models (Including g920f) and it doesn't matter what version you are on as long as you are on 5.1.1 (which you are).
Thank you Rekan_! I'll give it a try
Hi I'm new and lost. I've been searching on how to root my s6 on 5.1.1 and build number G920FXXU3COI9 but i can't find anything clear. Any tutorials i can use.
Thanks
Hi all ok my query may be a quick one to answer. Tried my best researching this forum but their is so many different roots for your phone dont know which are good and which arn't.
Basically at this stage not interested in customer roms as my phone is fairly new and will plan to try some roms later on. At this moment in time i just need simple root access as im wanting to play emulators and the controllers connected wont connect as i dont have root access. I would like it rooted but to kep on the same stock rom and dont want the knox to be affected.
Which is the best, safest most successful way to just root the s6? and as always can it be reverted at any time? Many thanks
Device: SM-G920F (flat phone)
ROM name:? STOCK?
ROM version and baseband version: G920FXXS3DPB3

NOT Rooted
STOCK ROM
Android version: 6.0.1

As of now there is no method available which could root your phone without tripping knox (except for 5.0.2),

CF-AutoRoot is probably the best way to go. It does most of the work for you. The phone can be unrooted, I guess, but KNOX will >always< be tripped
And I really wouldn't bother waiting around for a method to be developed that doesn't trip KNOX... People aren't hopeful and there doesn't seem to be much of an appetite from developers to create a method either
Thanks for the response, so what exactly will go wrong or happen if the KNOX is tripped? who do it connect to? and can it be un tripped if root access is removed? Just weighing up my options as im about 4 months into this s6 contract with EE
Thanks again.

There's NO WAY to untrip Knox for Exynos 7420 devices -for now-
If the KNOX tripped, you just can't use Samsung Pay and if you're rooted, you can't get OTA. If you reflash your device with Smart Switch, you'll get the OTA support again but there's no way to get the Samsung Pay support back.
I have a Galaxy S7 running official android version 6.0.1

Currently running Android 6.0.1 on Verizon s7 edge. With September 1st security patch. I want to keep my hotspot with foxify capabilities but I don't know if newest update will prevent that and would like to know if it will or not. Also would like to know if there are any rooting possibilities for this phone with that firmware and security patch available at the moment. I didn't mean to update the September's but I stuck it in my pocket and it must have touched my body and did it by itself. Thankyou for the help.
