you need to use a custom recovery like cwm or twrp
that's a flashable zip you need a custom recovery to flash it, search on Google CWM for Nexus 4
1. root ur device
2. install busy box
3.install rashr app
4.download .img file of ur custom recovery (google it)
5.flash it via rashr app(keep ur internet connection on)
6. then flash your .zip file via the custom recovery
i did the same for error: pie (reaver -bcmon) chutiyapa tha

confused between adb,mtkdroid tool, flashtool?

lenovo A319
i am still in the research phase before rooting so,
Now i figured out three ways to install a custom room
1- adb: unlock boatloader ,flash custom recovery , and using it to install a custom rom .zip file
i like this method , neat easy , i understand it and i have needed files
2-mtkdroid tool:
it needs files have extension which is in existed inside the custom rom .zip file, and also want md5 file which is not compatible with my lenovo anyways
3-flash tool: same thing need files i have no idea about, and doesnt exist in the custom rom .zip file
i made a scatter file from my stock phone using mtkdroid -which i have no idea what is that file-
are mtkdroid and flashtool used together???and if so then why all the headache while using the adb solve the whole thing in couple of lines?

Manually installing GApps.

Hi, I have an android device with a custom recovery, I also have the ROM package and I can flash the system directory using the recovery, and I can modify the contents of the ROM package and then flash it, I want to add to this ROM GApps, I've downloaded the GApps package,
It has the folder /system and META-INF that includes the installation script updater-script.sh, The ROM package also have updater-script.sh.
1. Is if it possible to install GApps on to this ROM by copying the contents of updater-script.sh of GApps into the updater-script.sh of the ROM package and copying the contents of /system of GApps to /system of the ROM package?
2. Should I be worried about ROM's META-INT signature files? (CERT.RSA,CERT.SF,MANIFEST.MF)
Thanks.
Hi, I have a device with custom recovery that can update ROM using update files, I got a working update file (zip contains system/ and META-INT/), When I'm unzipping it, add files to it and zip it again then flashing it, I get update failed, I even get update failed when I'm just unzipping and zipping without adding files or touching the content in the zip. Does anyone know why it might happen?
Thanks.

HELP: Paranoid Android 7.3.1 TWRP .zip Install Fail

Hello!
I'm trying to flash my Google Pixel with the latest Paranoid Android 7.3.1. I downloaded the Sailfish Paranoid Android .zip file along with my correct Open GApps .zip file. I already have TWRP installed on my device.
When I try to install The two zip files in TWRP, I get an error. It will not install Paranoid. It says something like "Looking for [a file inside of the zip file]" then "skipped [this file]" and finally "cannot install file [Paranoid file path]".
I'm completely lost on what this means and how to fix it. Does anyone have any advice?
Thanks!
I had the same error message but didn't know what the cause was or how to fix it so I reverted back to stock rom.

img.xz

Hey guys, my junior asked me to speed up his A51 (running stock rom) and decided to try havoc os.
I managed to install twrp but I only have experience installing ROMs in ZIP format through twrp.
Havoc distributes img.xz files - see https://download.havoc-os.com/?dir=arm64-ab
Help appreciated - how do I install img.xz file with twrp?
You must Install Orange Recovery with the zip File for the Galaxy a51 (you can get the File from another Threads here). Then you must use 7zip on Windows to extract the IMG.xz File to an .img (you can click extract here in 7zip and youre done), then transver the .img File with an USB cable to your Phone, at least Install the .img File of Havoc as System image an use Disable_Dm-Verity_ForceEncrypt_03.04.2020.zip in order to be able to boot and then you have Havoc OS Installed
