Yalpstore newer updates than in playstore? - General Questions and Answers

I installed yalpstore and figured out that it offers me updates of some app which Google playstore does not offer.
Why is that?

The PlayStore does not offer every single app out there, maybe the apps you are asking about are apps that do not meet Google's requirements and standards.

Thank you.
I try to clarify what I meant. For instance : Yalpstore offers me Version 2.2 of a certain app. Installed on my phone is 2.1. When I go to Google playstore and open the description of the app, it confirms that the current app is 2.2 although it doesn't offer me an update.
This particular app got updated in January.

I've noticed that too. Gets me a little worried.
I like Yalp but my biggest problem with it is that when I mark an app 'ignore all updates' that option does not stick. Next time I check for updates updates are still offered including for apps marked 'ignore all updates.' Very annoying and dangerous.

how to install google map..

i just flash CM7 and gapps..but i cant have google maps..i search at market...cant be download also..
please help me...where i can get google map??
i simply type in google map in Android Market
then click install
done
maybe you just need to install Android Market spoof app, to make it think it is in USA
Get the gapps.zip from CM wiki... it'll contain the market (or get the market.apk itself).

In Malaysia, updates to google maps are not available for some ****ed up reason. It is very frustrating how google shuns markets outside the US. I have no idea why we dont have Google+, Blogger, Chrometophone (the list goes on)
However a workaround(bug) to this is just to wait for another update to come along in your android market. When this happens, there will be an option to update ALL apps. Choose this one and google maps will update and install as well. Just be patient, or download an app that gets updates frequently

Ever thought about it's not Google mocking you but the government restricting the market in MY to get certain apps?
Especially those apps you mentioned leave an impression that tools enabling quick sharing of opinions are blocked.
Market enabler? Tried that? Fake one of the US providers and try searching again. If not, google that .apk and install it manually...

[Q] App Purchase Declined (Probably a slightly different case)

Alright. I'm trying to download Tapatalk from the Play Store. Every time I've tried to download it, it is giving me an error. First, it gave me an error, something like "Could not download Tapatalk Forum App" as you have not purchased it yet. Then I cleared the Play Store cache, data, uninstalled updates, and cleared everything again, and now it's giving me the error: "Download of Tapatalk Forum App declined".
Now, I have a good clue as to why it's doing this. I previously downloaded an older version of it from apktop and installed it on my phone and my nook. I'm not proud of it, and this is why I'm buying it now, I'm sick of the guilty conscious every time I use the app. But now that I do want to buy it, I can't! Any ideas anyone?
I'm not sure why you're having issues with the play store. If it eases your conscience though, Tapatalk is free through getjar. Here's the link:
http://www.getjar.com/mobile/237628...4ymld6hvifbqfomy&c=5v55005as52yb2m813&lang=en
I know it doesn't fund the developer directly, but I imagine they receive some compensation from getjar. Hope this helps.

Is this the latest version? As in the same as on the play store?
had a similar problem recently and the only solution i found - posts on the android newsgroups confirm that - is going back to the old 2.3.x market apk. to do so either "uninstall updates" in manage apps or if your /system/app/Vending.apk is 3.x then you'll have to replace that one with the 2.3.x one.
annoying, yes, but at least that works

To the best of my knowledge, all apps through getjar receive the same updates as the Play store. It should continue to be updated after installing.

[Q] Sony Back Up and Restore

Just going through my apps and the Sony back up and restore app has automatically updated itself to 1.0.A.0.8 and it is not an official Sony update. Came from Play store. No way to disable or uninstall it. Beware.
It seems Sony is looking into this problem... Hope update from them soon! Click
Its a hack, it was compromised via PlayStore:
SonyMobile's PlayStore account might be compromised:
http://www.xperiablog.net/2014/11/24/sonys-back-up-restore-app-gets-hacked/
http://www.androidpolice.com/2014/1...re-system-app-compromised-via-the-play-store/
It would be really awesome if Sony just released an easy way to root/ unlock the bootloader to remove it. I doubt that will happen but this makes me really nervous especially since we are stuck with an app that has broad ranging permissions.
Sean
I got the same version number 1.0.A.0.8
Are there people with a different version?
I believe that is the correct version but if you click the links in this thread you'll see there is a rogue version out there that is updating itself and has permissions that you should be leary of.

Are the permissions of the fake version different from the original? What are the original permissions?
Maybe I should rephrase to state the permissions may be equal but exactly who has the permissions is the cause for concern.
I have set automatic updates in Google Play Store. How can I verify whether my phone updated the app with this one from Google Play Store or not?

In Play Store hit "my apps" and it will be listed under downloaded
Finally answer from Sony...

So it's okay I guess?

Huawei Apps Update how?

I've noticed that the Mate 9's apps aren't in the play store. It doesn't appear it has it's own Store either. How the heck do they update?
They either have the auto-update or they do not update at all.
MetroPCS has some apps installed on their Samsungs and are not present in any store. So they either update automatically, or they do not update at all.

Sigh.. I was afraid of that. Makes me want to look elsewhere when the Mate 10 comes out. I'd hate to wait for system updates just to fix bugs in messaging or even the mail app.

True, but you could also use third-party apps that you can find in Google Play instead of the default one from Huawei.

That doesn't exist on my phone... I've got the US model.

Oh for sure. I usually give the built in apps a shot because when you theme the phone, none of the non-huawei apps obviously theme and it throws the look off. I know that seems stupid, but hey. Also, I know this isn't Samsung, but have you ever tried to use 3rd party apps instead of theirs? All kinda of crap doesn't work right from the gallery to messaging and so on.
well...

I tried googling "hiapp apk" and it led me straight to Huawei's official app store where HiApp is available for download...
alternatively try to connect to HiSuite on your computer... there it would also prompt you to update the different apps when new versions become available...
HiApp is its own app store for Huawei mobiles and tablets. And you can download the package installer, . apk file, for HiApp store from official website of Huawei as below.

Ah great. Thanks guys.

Malicious apps removed on Play store?

Coming from the iPhone I'm wondering about the latest news that Google found malicious apps on the Play store... Does Google not look at these things before they are allowed to be on the Play store?! Wtf?!
How do I know when I'm downloading an app from the store I'm not frying my Pixel 2xl in the long run???

Google does scan & manually check apps before release to Play store, but there are always new bugs or malicious techniques being found. As Google has a more open store & lots more apps than Apple you do have to be a bit more cautions than with an IPhone, statistically you should be safe
see
https://www.lifewire.com/is-google-play-safe-153675
I'd recommend you also have an additional GOOD antivirus installed, though many will say you don't need it.

I don't use an anti virus. Just be mindful of what you install. Always look at permissions.
Always look at the number of downloads and compare it with the review score.
If an app has 1 million or more downloads, uses permissions relevant to its functionality and has a 4.2 or higher score, it's probably safe. Find an app that gets updated regularly. An app that hasn't been updated in over a year, has higher potential to have a vulnerability.
Don't load your phone up with apps. The more you have, the larger the potential attack surface.
There are usually alternative apps with minimal permissions if you take the time and look. I include "open source" along with my search term. You'd be surprised what's on the Play Store.
And finally, stay away from the Facebook app.
