[APP] While waiting for ACR Unchained (Another Call Recorder)... - Android Apps and Games

I'm a happy user of ACR (Another Call Recorder), and was sad to see that the app had to remove some key feature in order to comply with google new policies (no more phone number/contact info, you have to add them manually afterward).
You can read more about that on NNL's blog : https://nllapps.com/apps/acr/google-denies-phone-number-accesss.htm
NLL is planning on releasing an "Unchained" version on other app stores, but this version doesn't exist yet (AFAIK)
So, for those who updated by accident to the new version and want to reinstall the old one, I've made this thread storing the old APK.
This APK was made with Titanium Backup from the official application installed on my phone, which I never updated. It's not modified in any way and should work as expected.
You will have to disable automatic updates from Play Store to prevent future updates.
[Advanced]
For the rooted ones : You can prevent Play Store from knowing about the app (and thus trying to update it) with two methods :
You have Magisk :
Install "Detach" by xerta555
Create a text file named "detach.custom" with only one line : com.nll.acr
Put the file at the root of the sdcard (/sdcard/detach.custom)
Reboot yout phone
Note : This didn't work for me, but was supposed to...
You are used to adb/TWRP :
Reboot in TWRP
Mount the /system partition
Plug your USB cable and log into your phone with "adb shell"
Go to the Play Store App directory : cd /data/data/com.android.vending/databases/
Make a backup of Play Store SQLite database : cp library.db library.bak
Edit the database with SQLite : sqlite3 /data/data/com.android.vending/databases/library.db
Copy/paste this update request : UPDATE ownership SET library_id = 'u-wl' where doc_id = 'com.nll.acr';
Exit SQLite with "Ctrl+D"
Reboot your phone

It was released in February

Is there an app that works on Samsung S8 Pie 9 (no root) so I can still record both ends of the call? I've tried all last versions of ACR Unchained, but none of them is working on my phone, it records only my voice. Help?

Unfortunately, with LineageOS 16 (Android Pie) I had myself to switch to another application to record my call.
CallRecorder by skvalex works fine in my case, but I use the root method. There are other methods you can try with this app.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.skvalex.cr
This app is expensive, compared to ACR, and to me the price isn't really justified (I loved ACR's design and simplicity), but it serves its purpose and does it well. No crash or anything to report, sound is loud and clear (again, using root method, I can't tell for other methods).
There's a trial period, so you can check if the app works well for you without root.
If you try it, please post the result, I'm curious to know !

Yeah, I don't know why, but that app seems a bit shady. I mean, google said that every app that doesn't comply to their rules would be deleted from google play and this guy still has his app which allow users to record both endings of the call? Why is that?
And why does ACR released an unchained version if it does the same thing as the normal app? I thought that the unchained version would work as the app worked before Android Pie.
Thank you very much for your rapid answer! And if you know something about my new questions...

The Google Play policy, if I understood correctly, is about using a certain API to get caller information, it isn't about the recording itself. ACR is still on the play store, but it doesn't log the caller information. I guess it's the same for this app.
The problem with call recording with Pie (again, if I understood correctly) is that Google removed the required API to do so (or at least part of the API), leaving only the "root" way for those who can...
The difference is, ACR will never provide a "root" way to record calls, because that's not their philosophy, they've explained this on their blog.

[APP] Alarmpad : how to get it ?

Hi,
Are you guys able to access this application on google play store ?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mindmeapp.alarmpadpro
Whether I try with proxies or my own IP (Belgium), I always end up with a message from Google saying that the app is not available in my country.
I know that the developer stopped this project last year, but I am surprised not to be able to get it anywhere.
I also tried to download the apk for version 1.9 from various websites (free or pro version), and Windows Defender always reject the file stating that it's infected by a Trojan, so I start to wonder if this is a false positive or if Google detected the same and prevents the app from being accessible on the store or so ?
It's the first time that I am facing this situation, and I am very surprised and frustrated not to be able to buy this app which looks fantastic.
Let me know if you are facing the same problem or if you have a working APK backup
Thanks !
For those who are in the same situation and who may be looking for AlarmPad FREE, here is the APK of version 1.9.3 (I believe it's the last).
I am still looking for a way to buy the PRO version, and for now the only solution seems to be in the USA :/
I'm in the USA, and can't find this app in play store.

Thank you for the information Henry, then I have no clue where this app is available nowadays (it looks like it was widely available in the past).
Note that it appears that my previous apk downloads which were detected by Windows Defender as trojan were false positive since the same file does not trigger the warning anymore.
Too bad I can't simply by the pro version

Unfortunately even when installing the pro version from your post with the mindme pro key, it does not detect it as "PRO" (features are restricted as in FREE version).
I have the same behavior with this PRO apk which is the latest version I found.
I tried to contact the developer to know why his app is not available from the PlayStore anymore, but I did not received any answer so far :/

Old thread but I have the pro version. Don't know how the powers-that-be would feel about me sharing the apk. The developer has stopped providing support for this app and the backup service (which is why I bought it) doesn't work anymore.

Hello ParrotSquawk,
Thank you very much for the offer Actually I posted the pro apk here some time ago thinking it would not be a problem since there was no way to buy it anymore and development stopped as well, but the moderators didn't appreciate that...
For info even with the pro apk you cannot access the pro features, it somehow checks on google play if you bought it and locks it to free version.
I gave up on alarmpad for that reason. I wanted to use it because of its tasker integration, but ended up using ClockTask plugin. Not exactly the same thing but also very well integrated with tasker.
Cheers !
I don't know how much help this is, I was worried that I would need to find an alternative when i upgraded my 3½ year old S7 Edge to my Note 10 +.
Thankfully, despite being no longer available, it transferred over through SmartSwitch and is working fine except for the sign in/backup feature.
That said, does anyone else know of any other app that works like AlarmPad? It is a must for me as I'm on shift work and EVERY duty is different.
Old thread..but...
My biggest issue with this app currently is that the data can't be backed up anymore. If I reset my phone I have to create all the alarms and hashtags again. (My phone does not have root available).
If someone could recode it to backup and restore using an SD card ... That would be great.

I notice that you have the call recording feature. Mine doesn't have this even though it's legal to secretly record calls where i live.
I remember with the Huawei Mate 20 Pro the option wasn't available but someone managed to extract and make a apk from another Huawei model which made the option work. The recordings use to store in the voice recorder app.
I wonder if someone could do the same for S10plus.

Did you use phone clone followed by chat partner all with device ID?
How can I add Google pack into this device? I used mate 30 promethod which was working perfectly with that device but in this device it won't work. It keep showing me message "this device isn’t Play Protect certified"

Hello, I also Have a Huawei Mate XS and yes, I tried to do the procedure with Chat partner APP and device ID registration, but it doesn't work. You still can't login to the play store and you receive constant google play service notifications. Unusable. I've also tried to use the procedure described in the answers to the video (using Chat partner after cloning my old Huawei P30pro) but no luck.
I resolved to use the phone without google services, using APK Pure and Aptoide for missing apps.
Still there are apps that I normally use that just don't work. So far:
- Tesla;
- Couple of games I play;
- Revolut;
- Netflix;
- Gmail;
- google maps works but you can't login to google.
All in all I'm still pretty satisfied with the phone and I'm waiting for a definitive workaround for google play store.
Google package
If you have solutions plz post it
Have you tried VMOS apk? As a limited alternative there is also an app called G-Whizz plus and Gapps browser as a temporary solution.
Yes otherwise you need third party apps stores like spk mirror, f Droid, Aurora store or app suche.vone can use internet access to GMS.

Mate 30 pro GSF ID

i am wanting to get a mate 30 pro and of course install google services on it...
in almost every video tutorial i saw whether its the mate 30 pro or the mate 30 or the p40 the GSF ID is always the same.
the GSF ID is supposed to be unique to every device yet in these videos they are all the same (see below the two i got from videos).
so in essense 100's if not 1000's of people using the restore method are using the same GSF ID? isnt that dangerous to the google play account its lined to?
I am also curious whether this has to do with the backup we're restoring to the phone.
Also, i am spooked by the big G application. who knows what backdoor it maybe opening?

The big G is the lz play exploit app. I used it to get GMS on my mate 30 Pro last year when it was still an easy fix. I have noticed nothing but I did uninstall it after the fix. Not sure about the most recent fixes? As for the G Id, this could be something like one of Microsoft bulk licensing where one product Id is put on loads of the same PCs ( Dell, HPs etc), not sure but could be something like that? It is obviously from a working account that has been backed up though and copied. But if you need to use GMS, then there is not much choice really.
Is there a working option without crutches now?

Thanks for the reply.
I understand your explanation but as i read about the GSF ID its like a car license number or rather a serial # for a device. this ID could be tied to your google account or rather device serial #.
I now understand why when installing and uninstalling the framework you have to keep retrying to get the ID back...i think its a hole in the google system where it just gives up and assigns it to you.
I dont know. I feel this is dangerous that all of us are sharing one GSF ID from a backup.
If the device was able to be rooted you can generate a new one.
i am sure the people that generated this backup had rooted their device because when the device first launched there was a service to unlock the bootloader. now its no more.
this is the article i am talking about that concerns the GSF ID:

they are probably using the methods everyone is using, putting the phone back in the box and shipping it. i see no other solution. unless root and thats not possible since bootloader unlock services for the device has stopped.

I think we should no longer hope that the USA will grant Google the authorization to work with Huawei seen the tensions between China and the US and the Covid-19 story. I have google spy services up and running since late last year and have no issue, granted my use of google apps is very limited. If we have a backdoor installed through lzplay we will never know but if you have google, wattsapp, fakebook etc installed you can be sure you will be tracked, profiled in one way or the other. That is a fact.

So your suggestions... to get rid of Google in order not to be tracked?
the average consumer has no clue of what lzplay is doing. its the most dangerous app out there using the MDM technique (mentioned above).
today at the mall i saw a girl representative for a reseller company in my country for huawei products and she had it installed.
i warned her and told her she committed a mistake but ppl see their phones working fine and dont worry about it. you wont know if the app is sending or stealing your data...(Well, actually, you can install a firewall app and track which apps are sending data to what destination - thats one way that came to my mind)
The issue remains is: We dont know who created lzplay and made a website and made the app. thats the scary part.
Now, another perception of this could be the following:
MAYBE, just maybe the lzplay was released by huawei themselves and if so then we need not worry. i mean we run on their operating system. they would have no interest in stealing data. they can already do that ...
This is being optimistic and thinking this maybe a fact.
i, myself will not venture into this and wont attempt it. Almost all apps work fine except for one thing: Games that rely on Google play games will fail without having the GMS files installed.
I dont play games so its not a big deal for me.
besides, most games now-a-days give you the option of logging in with facebook or google play games. select facebook and you'll be fine.

Is there a way to change de GSF ID of the phone manually? For example give the GSF ID of a Samsung device that works with FCM to a Mate 30 Pro, so that the Mate 30 Pro won't have the notifications issue when GSM are installed.
Or go back to a GSF ID that works perfectly and by mistake the phone's memory has been wiped and now the GSF ID doesn't work to receive FCM notifications.

You are not suppose to change it manually. However, you can always request a new one by clearing the cache of the market app. The GSF ID is kept in that apps database, so if you wanted to change it manually, you'd have to install the android platform tools, use ADB to pull the file (root required), use sqlite3 to make the changes (the key is called "android_id", not GSF ID for legacy reasons), then push the file back to the device. Reboot afterwards.

I used the Windows tools above to change the GSF ID of my un-rooted Samsung Galaxy A325G, and they worked fine... but does anyone know how the new GSFID was determined?
Is it random?
EDIT: I might be able to figure out how it's generated using "Dummy Droid".
[Tool] DummyDroid - GSF ID generator
Dummy Droid is a mainly a companion tool for the Raccoon APK Downloader . It allows you to create hardware profiles for arbitrary Android devices and upload them into your Google Play account, generating a new GSF ID in the process.
Mocks can either be generated by probing an existing device via ADB or be completely made up from scratch. You (may) need this tool if Google Play won't give you access to an app because of device incompatibilities, country or carrier restrictions. You (may) also need this tool if you are an app developer yourself and want to test compatibility filter settings without actually owning the target device.

Is there any way to get 3rd-party call recording (ACR) apps working after tomorrow, May 11th, 2022?
As of tomorrow, May 11, 2022, Google apparently is nixing non-native automatic call recording (ACR) apps.
Google will kill call recording apps on Android for good starting May 11
Google is removing all call recording apps on May 11
Google will block all third-party call recording apps on Play Store from May 11
Google is killing call recording apps on Android phones from May 11
Google Will Kill Call Recording Android Apps Starting May 11
From May 11, call recording may not be possible through third-party apps on Android phones
Android call recording apps won’t work on your Galaxy phone after May 11
You May Not Be Able To Record Phone Calls On Android Smartphones From May 11
etc.
I have no idea what this news means in terms of HOW Google is doing it.
However... I suggest you get those ACR automatic call recording apps now, where below is just a small partial sample of free ad free ACR apps I've tested in the past (please see full list attached).

Meanwhile, my question to those who know more than I do is:
Is there any way to get 3rd-party call recorders working after tomorrow, May 11th, 2022?

For me ACR is still available in the Google Play Store. What about you?

Good question.
The letters ACR are used for lots of apps, so I'm not sure which specific automatic call recording app you're speaking about; and I don't ever use Google Play Store directly anyway (as I don't have any login on my phone for privacy reasons); but I use the FOSS Google Play Store client everyone else uses and looking there for "ACR", I see plenty of "acr" apps that still exist even today in the Google Play Store app repo.
Yet, the news said Google was deprecating them all somehow, so if you can explain what Google did and did not do on May 12th, that will help us all.
Google will kill call recording apps on Android for good starting May 11
Google is removing all call recording apps on May 11
Google to kill call-recording apps on Play Store on May 11
etc.
Have been running CUBE ACR on my Pixel 4a successfully for over a year. Android 13 broke it, emailed support, and it's now working with a test apk. I only use it for cell calls, no VoIP.
They appear to still be available but could we please get these hosted somewhere?
There's a magisk module from XDA called BCR (basic call recorder), and as far as I can see it works fine still.
I already bought ACR but, Google fuxed it up so it didnt work anymore unless on Android 5 to 9.
then I actually found one of the comments on Play Store that Aptoide version works.
I tried it on Android 12 and now on Android 13. It records both sides of conversation.
Just be advised that the instalation package will need to install Aptoide Store first, which, once inside, takes you to install page of ACR.
IMPORTANT:
*TURN OFF Updates inside the ACR app Settings, so that Google doesnt interfere. I also
**TURNED ON the setting that it asks me after the call "Whether to save the recording or not". Thats how l know it works and reminds me to check the functionality
You are welcome.
