High battery usage by system app - Honor View 20 Guides, News, & Discussion

Hello,
Can someone tell me if the Files app consistently keeps running in the background and consume battery?
For me it's always running and even after force stopping it it usually turns itself back on.

Battery down to 25% in 5 hours of standby. HELP!

What in the world is going on? Battery went from 100% to 25% in 5 hours with not using it one single time.
What is the app to see what is using your CPU? Also, does juice defender help?
Battery Monitor Widget or Process Monitor Widget
Go to Menu>Settings>About Phone>Battery. What are the items displayed and their percentages?
You have a problem. Juice Defender won't fix it.
Just letting you know, If you are planning on being away from your phone for some time turn off the data! Go to settings-wireless and networks-mobile network and shut it off...
Having data consumes battery like a fire started in a dry field of cornhusks.

There's absolutely nothing right about a 75% drop in 5 hours on standby only.
If you know for sure the battery is good, start uninstalling ****. Check running services, see what's hiding in there.
Try OSMonitor from the app store. Since upgrading to gingerbread I have found some programs that ran good on 2.2 won't close out properly and will consume about 80 percent of cpu in the background on 2.3. For example I have to use an older version of Pandora because of this and also found some of my games no longer close out properly on 2.3. OSMonitor will show what programs are consuming large amounts of cpu. Terminating these programs and deleting them will correct battery issues. Another thing that can help is limit the accounts set to sync and for sure DO NOT SIGN INTO HTC SENSE! Hope that helps. I have decent battery life with mine with the screen consuming about 70 percent of my battery. I use my phone a ton.
If you are in a marginal signal area that could be normal. Otherwise its probably sense ui and social networking. One of the reasons I don't use sense as 90% of that rom is social crap I don't use and it kills the battery.

tiwlan_wq usage 48% and draining the battery

After getting tired of ghost call issue, I'm back on froyo but now new problem. The fkng phone dies when left untouched for few hours. I caught the problem to "tiwlan_wq" process taking 48% cpu time after being idle for few hours and then it totally drains the battery in matter of minutes. CPU usage showed tiwlan taking 48% constantly and my battery just drained out. It's got to do with wifi since at that time the wifi stopped working and the button was ghosted and i couldnt' connect or go to its setting page and only reboot was teh only option to bring it back on.
WTF LG can't have GB cuz of ghost call and now this froyo is useless as well. Seriously thinking of selling it but hv to wait for new quad core phones to come.
Do Use 360 Launcher 360 Guard or any power saver it happend to me once. The Power Saving App (360 battery guard) was unable to turn off the wifi module by trying to kill the process which made it hog the cpu. i think it happens when a process cant be killed keeps restarting.

I'm using go launcher. I had wifi protector app, wifi lock app both of which i have also uninstalled. Will charge it full overnight and then in morning see if this helped. BTW i'm using acura's v3 froyo rom. I have some batter saving stuff as well as uptime and cpu usage apps installed. Any software which can show the process down to root level since cpu usage doesn't explain what is causing tiwaln to keep at 48%.
Thanks for the reply btw

[Q] Allocate all phone's resources to one app

Hi, lately I use alot of GPS with Waze app (delivery), and my battery drops pretty fast.
I wanted to know if there's a way to allocate all the phone's resources to Waze,
like closing everything else in the background, especially data transfer.
I would simply turn off the 3g and save alot of battery, but Waze needs it to find addresses.
I use stock 4.0.4, unlocked but not rooted. anyone have a creative idea what can help me?
Thanks
Maybe Watchdog can help, I believe its used to set a limit on CPU usage from certain apps. Maybe you could limit everything else's cpu usage except waze?

but then I'll probably need in each time to set the cpu usage app by app no?
Buy a car charger. Problem solved.
Really nothing is going to help you save battery with a app that does all this. Screen on/gps/network usage for traffic maps etc.
Only battery saving tips is really turn off the screen or use a lower brightness setting while you do use it

Can't use a charger cause I work in food delivery (with a scooter)
But yea I figured there's no other solution for that.
It's just I see apps like whatsapp and other games keeps popping out messages and notifications while my battery already draining from the GPS, and I know they run in the background and drains battery too. So I thought perhaps there's a way to close all apps except Waze, but I guess there isn't.

Anyone else having lots of wakelocks after flashing new kernels?

Hey guys.
Lately whenever I'm flashing a new kernel either on KitKat or Lollipop I get terrible wakelocks that kill my battery. Not sure why this is happening. I'm using CWM. Basically after flashing I can just notice a huge battery drainage and I tend to install either GSam or WakelockDetector to see what's the problem. WakelockDetector (Rooted) gives me an overall idea of my battery problem. Usually SystemUpdateService, Audiomix "1013", "NlpWakeLock" , "EventlogService" and "CheckinService" drain my battery the most. Sometimes "ConfigFetchService" as well.
Thanks

[Battery Life Help] Troubleshoot battery issues here!
Application wakelocks have absolutely nothing to do with the kernel.
Keep in mind a "wakelock" is simply a request to keep the device awake; they can happen regardless whether the screen is on or off, they are only an issue if they occur while the screen is OFF.
SystemUpdateService is a pretty obviously named wakelock, it's used while an OTA is being downloaded. You can disable the service and it's receivers with an app like Autorun Manager (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rs.autorun, open in advanced mode, go into it's settings to enable for system apps, tap on Google Play Services, disable everything with SystemUpdateService in it's name).
AudioMix is triggered every time there is an audio event, including touch sounds. Harmless as it's usually only used while the screen is on.
NlpWakeLock is a location wakelock.
EventlogService and CheckinService are harmless, unless they occur 24/7 and don't go away EVER, which means you disabled their services but not their receivers.
ConfigFetchService is mostly harmless, it simply fetches your settings from Google's servers when you open a Google app, if that app stores it's settings on the cloud instead of locally.

Disabling the receivers works indeed. Thanks! By the way, another issue I'm having is that my Nexus 5's CPU heats too fast operating in UI and doing basic stuff, like installing apps from Play Store or watching videos on YouTube. Normally after about 5 min. of running if I go to System Monitor the CPU's temp is around 40-47ºC on action, in standby cools down to 34-35ºC but then after I use it again the temp rise to 45-47ºC. Usually when this happens the battery's temperature is also triggered and reaches 28-30ºC. Is this normal?

The CPU throttles at 65C by default (some kernels change this or give you an option to change it), and shuts down at 105C. 47C is hardly anything.

Battery drain moving at high speeds

Hello
why is that Android devices consume so much battery while you move fast like driving or on the train? I'm talking about 5-7% in 1h with data on (no location, Google now, app downloading data or something similar). My friend's iPhone with iOS doesnt lose a single %. You might say it's doze not working but even if I force it with greenify it's the same. Android OS keeps the phone awake.
