this behavior is the same across all aosp roms, the solution is to enable AOD.

Hotspot doesn't work for Sakura 4.R (Redmi 6 Pro), have also faced some random freeze just like Lineage OS 18.1, (this is regard to the latest 9th Jan Build) please fix this in next OTA or Clean update, [ELSE:- ROM is perfect n Stable]
