OPO on POSP - On Screen Buttons - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have my OPO flashed with POSP Pie. I would like to remove my on screen buttons and just use the capacitive. Does anyone know how to do this or am I just stuck with both sets?

OnePlus One touch scereen issue. Bottom part only affected, and only if I touch it with my thumb.
After a few months of bugless experiense of my OPO use, now is my turn. Touch scereen issue only at the bottom part of it (where the navigation bar should be ). If I touch it with my thumb, then touch became incorrect, sloppy, with some small dead zones. But if I touch it with my forefinger in the same place, then everything is OK.

At first I thought that the case ROM, tried stock,CM11,CM12,ColorOS... no changes.
Then I thought that I had dirty fingers, washed my hands, cut nails - no changes
I thought, maybe is the glass protector issue, took it off - still no changes.
Now, I assume that the problem has something to do with the grounding...
Did anyone similar problems? How you solve it?
Sorry for my english.
Same issue here. Makes typing really annoying.
I'm testing this now, and it seems to be better:
Try with boeffla kernel ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/onep...ta-09-t2899974 ) and with this firmware: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934519251 (credits to katinatez, pulled from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/onep...build-t2870743 )

Hidden notch top radius fix?

Hey guys,
The Oneplus 6T has this radius issue fixed out of the box.
But we OnePlus 6 users still have this annoying corner radiuses when hiding the notch which is totally different from the bottom.
Did anyone find a way to fix it? maybe edit some code somewhere?

download the app "Rounded Corners"
LMAO it's not possible for the top corners to match the bottom ones because they are physically rounded because that's how the screen is shaped and if you try to make the top corners match your just going to be giving up a good portion of the top of your screen. This is common sense.
it is possible lmao, they did it on the 6T.
Please read my post and not the title only buddy xD

Rounded corners works great but uses some juice as an screen overlay :|

Typing fast

Does anyone experience it difficult to type fast, like some words are omitted when you type fast or their order is interchanged, say for example, the word wakanda, when you try to type fast it becomes something like wkaanda sometimes. Is it because of the tempered glass or me not being accustomed to the device yet? Those without tempered glass, how's your experience?
I kinda had the same feeling. I thought it was just for me.
had same issue with custom ROMs too.
dont know if it's a real issue or my illusion.

Yeah, I noticed something was off but then I ignored it thinking I might not be used to the device yet. Do you also sometimes feel that the device scrolls in a direction opposite to input, like when scrolling through xda, when you swipe your finger/thumb up lightly to scroll down, the device sometimes scrolls upwards a little instead and vice versa? Also, have you applied a tempered screen protector?
I am also facing same issue on my Redmi note 7 pro indian varient 4/64gb running on miui 10.2.8.0

Yeah, after a few seconds into typing, it starts missing out some letters. I too use gboard.
I recommend to go to settings and send feedback (last option at the bottom) about this. Hopefully, they will fix with the next update.
It is due to the touch problem, especially on edge of the screen. Refer to 'Touch latency' thread.
In my case, I have annoying scroll problem plus edge area of screen is not responsive thus typing Q and P is difficult.
At first I thought it was happening with me only because I moved from a 5.5" screen to a 6.3" screen and maybe my muscle memory is accustomed to type on my previous device from past 2 years so it would take me a week to get used to a new device. But I was wrong. These are touch latency issues happening with many users. I hope this gets fixed by an update.
Go to Settings > Sound & Vibration > Vibrate On Tap > Light
This should solve the latency issue or at least make it a lot better. This problem is occurring due to how the haptic feedback is synchronized with the touchscreen. If vibration is too strong it won't be able to stop and start in real time with each and every key you press thus causing a delay. The stronger the vibration and the faster you type, the longer it will take for it to finish reacting to each key press.

I didn't use vibrate on tap in my previous devices nor do I use it in this one but I still face the issue. The original post written by me was based on my experience of using the device without any sort of vibrations enabled and comparing it to my previous devices which also had vibration disabled.

10.0.3 notch complaint

the notch in 10.0.3 gets removed entirely, where before the time, network, notifications, etc would still use this part of the screen. come on oneplus, you can do better!
how you get the update? i'm on 10.0 and can't find the update

Lmao. This option just made our screen smaller. How lazy are the devs. On previous OOS 10.0.1 version, i used SetEdit app to manually hide the notch and it was better.
I've gone back to pie 9.0.9. Oneplus have really screwed up android 10 on the Oneplus 6
I guess I'll stay on 9.0.9 as long as it takes to get this garbage 10 update figured out. Pathetic.
My phone looks stupid now, thanks dev.
SETTINGS-DISPLAY-NOTCH DISPLAY, Is that not working on 10.3.0?
I think this new way is better... No sense to turn black the entire status bar instead of really hide it, now it's like custom roms, i absolutely prefer this new one imo
This is notch hide, before was "turn Black status bar" -_-

The new way is worst. We are using amoled screens hence just like old days turning off pixels is similar to the ones we have in 10.3.0 (which is notch hide i.e. pixels turned off). Atleast we had large screen and use the bar above for notifications.

Imo it's about aesthetic, to have clock, notification battery etc in a black space it seems to be out of the device itself and not inside the design of it..
"Turn black the status bar" was much better
Completely agree. The "new" hide the notch option is hilarious. How the hell they even think about that?
So has anyone had a good experience with 10.3.0?
I like the new one too, It's so symmetrical, while the old one had that tiny curves on the top edges that were so different from the ones on to bottom. But hey, some people like this one, others the old one, so they should probably add the older option as well for everyone to choose the one they prefer.
Yes, give both options. We shouldn't have to argue about which is better. I liked the old method because it kept the same amount of usable space, and that is more important to me than someone else's idea of aesthetics. The new method also makes the phone Look like it has a large forehead.

Is like Pixel 2 with this big notch. If you hide it, the same happens. Tho isnt a big Deal on OP as on a Pixel phone :silly::silly:
I dont hide, but the font on the home screen is soo small I cant read my Time and its always black. (Screenshot attached).

Oneplus 8t edges touch screen problem

Hello everyone, I have the Oneplus 8t since november 2020, Since then until now I have the same touch screen issue one the edges of the screen, Like the phone have edges touch protection (Even if it's flat)
I took a video of the problem:
I also sent it to oneplus:
OnePlus Community
Introducing our new OnePlus Community experience, with a completely revamped structure, built from the ground-up.
forums.oneplus.com
And I saw there are also old reports on it:

Until now I have this problem, even if the phone updated so many times.
Everyone here have the same issue?
I suppose its protection from accidental touches on edges of the screen.
In real world usages typing works good if you press exactly on a button with a letter, so do screen gestures.
I wonder, why do you need full touch sensitivity on the edges?
I need full touch sensitivity on the edges because without that there are a lot of typing missing one the edges, also sometimes when I scrolling I can notice it.
In day to day usage it's noticeable and pretty annoying.
The screen of the device is flat, all of the screen should be sensitive to touch like the old OnePlus 3.

It's because you're using gesture navigation, the edges are reserved for the back gesture, it can be annoying I know but the phone is waiting for you to use the back gesture when you touch the edges before the main par of the screen. Try switching to the 3 button navigation if it impedes your use of the phone. If you repeat this same test after you switch to button navigation and it still doesn't behave when you touch the edges, I would say to RMA your phone.

Thanks, but try to look again on the video, I'm not using gesture navigation, I'm using the traditional 3 buttons navigation (Look when I try to scroll in the browser).
What it means RMA?
Edit: I have the phone since November 2020
RMA - Means Return Merchandise Authorization, Basically it means contact support from where you got the phone, Carrier or OP directly, Talk to them about it and get a replacement. If the replacements does it as well then it's a design or software problem. On mine when on gesture navigation it acts like yours but with the 3 button navigation it responds as expected.
Make sure you're updated, my version is Oxygen OS 11.0.10.10.KB05AA
You might also try changing the nagivation to gesture and then back to see if that fixes it.
I confirm that the same issue is present in OnePlus 9R, latest update.
Experiencing the same exact thing on my 8T - did anyone managed to get around this somehow? doesn't look like onePlus are going to fix this anytime soon. I think I've read somewhere an official response saying this is "by design"
For those experincing the issue described in this thread who have root, try this Magisk module.
It disables the touchpanel edge limit for OnePlus 8T/9R.

In my case, not only edge, all the icon on the right side or left side are not opening by touching that. It's disgusting.

You can try to factory reset or apply magisk module mentioned above, though If it is a hardware issue (if the screen doesn't respond at all on both sides) it will not help.
Have you tried adjusting the "screen size" setting? I have not had this problem so this is just a guess. My screen size is set at "default".

Thanks for your reply. I tried, but it did not work. I tried with other software like pixel checking. Everything seems fine. Somewhere it has been told like due to software update, it impacts one of the display chip and due to that it's not working properly. Some people get lining(with different colors, somebody having touch issues). Now I am left with only option of replacement of touch screen.
