I have been flashing cynogenmod and LineageOS since the Galaxy S2 so I thought I knew what I was doing but on this occasion I may have gotten ahead of myself.
I got the UK version of theMi Mix 3, waited 72 hours, unlocked it, flashed twrp and flashed [9.0][OFFICIAL]RR v7.0 & Pixel ExPie [GSI]
I do right ahead and flash gappsand magisk too and when I rebooted i just leep seeing the Mi logo and the unlock warning on repeat.
So i wiped my cache and system again, tried again without gapps and magisk but the same thing happened.
I then tried [non-GSI] Unofficial ArrowOS 9.x and [non-GSI] Unofficial Pixel Experience P but the same thing happened.
I think I might be missing something important about "China 9.1.10 Vendor"... all the instructions for each rom have something vague like that.
Do i perhaps have to go and get the factory rom for the chinese version and flash that before i flash my custom rom?
If so, can anyone point me to the location?
Also, is it then important not to wipe anything before flashing the custom rom on top?
still stuck
I thought I'd answered my own question and i found the link for the original chinese rom.
I flashed that and I can boot to it perfectly.
So i rebooted to recovery and quickly learnt that running miui restores the original recovery...
So i rebooted to fastboot, reflashed twrp, flashed miui then flashed arrow...
but i'm still stuck in a boot loop!

Format data by typing yes then flags magisk on custom roms

Hi,
This is a new Mi4w Global and I got tired of waiting to Marshmallow to come OTA so decided to try CM13 and seem to have bricked it. Please help!
I flashed latest TWRP (also tried CyanogenMod recovery), then I did the factory reset, wipe cache, flashed the CM13 ROM but it won't boot. Always flashes the Mi logo and then straight into Fastboot. I can still access recovery by holding volume up and power, but no amount of flashing the ROM seems to work. I've tried latest Stable and Nightly CyanogenMod ROMs.
Did I miss a step? One thing I remember doing which might have been the problem is while I still had the original Xiaomi recovery I opted to boot onto System 2 or whatever. I think I flashed recovery straight afterwards. I wonder if that is the cause?
Anyway, please help me! Many thanks if you can help me get my phone working again.
Update: In case this helps anyone else, I did manage to find an original Mi4 recovery so I flashed it and the I also flashed the official MIUI developer build of Marshmallow. Now my phone is unbricked. I would still like to figure out how to root it and install CM13 sometime, but at least I have a working phone for now.
It's simple, you selected system 2 before installing cm13, and two installed rom in system 1. Be on system 1 and try again.

OK thanks. What is system 2 then, is that the "sdcard" partition? I had looked in both TWRP and Cyan recovery for an option to change the boot partition but couldn't find it.
Hey Guys,
so i got a wierd bootloop problem and for now i didn't find any solution here on xda or somewhere else,
not even a thread where someone has the same problem.
I'll try to give you as much information as possible in a chronological order.
First of all I got the international model (G920F).
So like 2-3 months ago everything was fine, my phone was rooted, got TWRP working and was flashing Roms with no problem what so ever. TW-Roms like Noble Rom and also AOSP/Lineage OS.
One day I wanted to flash UltImAtE NoUgAt A8 Port and that is where the trouble began, dont think it has something to do with the rom but maybe it helps.
So i flashed the Rom(wiped everything except int. storage), flashing was no problem but it didnt boot.
I know first boot always takes some time but after about 20-30 min I forced a reboot (Power+Vol. Down for 7sec).
After that the phone got into a Bootloop(always rebooted into the "first bootingscreen")
I let this process happen for about 15 min. and then tried to enter TWRP via hitting the buttons between the boots which didn't work. I then did "force" a reboot(Power + Vol. Down) which strangely resulted in one final reboot and turning the phone off after the first bootscreen.
So with the phone finally turned off I was able to boot into TWRP and reflashed the rom but the result was the same.
I did the same procedure again to get into TWRP and flashed the Stock Deodexed TW Rom, flashing worked but then the Phone directly rebooted into TWRP. Rebooting out of TWRP or booting the phone from beeing shut down both resulting into booting to TWRP.
So to get my Phone working again I had to flash stock ROM which in my case is G920FXXU5EQDF_G920FDBT5EQD1_G920FXXU5EQCD via Odin.
That worked but of course root and TWRP were gone so I then flashed TWRP via Odin(both newest Versions at that point)
aaaaaand phone straightly booted into TWRP again all the time. I tried different combinations of older versions of both twrp and odin but the result always was the same.
So at the moment I am on Stock, the phone works which is nice but i really wanna get TWRP working again and i have no idea what to do.
I hope someone can help me with that.
Cheers Guys

You do know that if you flash TWRP, you need to use a kernel that has dm-verity disabled or you need to be rooted. Flash TWRP then Flash Magisk through TWRP

As it seems I did not, good thing that its written right at the TWRP download page...
Can't remember doing this when I installed TWRP first but as it seems I did.
Everything is working fine, just flashed Nexus OS and it booted.
Thank you so much dude
Hello all,
After I wiped my system, I tried to install the latest Magisk (From the official MagiskManager website) and then, after I wiped again, and tried to reboot, my phone just showed a black screen it wouldn't even show the unlocked bootloader warning or the boot logo and when I charge it, the LED flashes constantly (I'm not sure what that means) therefore I have to boot back into the recovery or the bootloader as there is no system. I looked at the system files and there was nothing there although the Lineage OS flashed successfully.
Can anyone help me?
I'm not sure whether my phone is bricked or something as every other time I did it (2 times) there were no problems.
Version of Lineage OS I tried to install (lineage-14.1-20180108-nightly-athene-signed.zip)
Device: Motorola Moto G4 2016 (Athene)
Custom Recovery: TWRP 3.0.2.0
Magsik Version: Magisk-v15.3.zip
Thanks in advance!
You never wipe system unless you are flashing a rom. You pretty much removed the OS and then tried. To boot it.

Yeah after I flashed Resurrection Remix, everything went back to normal, but thanks anyways.
Hi there,
Yesterday I thought it was a good idea to flash a new rom (I bought my 2S early so I had a chinese rom I wanted to get rid off for a while).
My device is already unlocked and TWRP worked like a charm, that is, until today and last night. I first tried to flash lineageOS (https://forum.xda-developers.com/xi.../rom-lineageos-16-0-xiaomi-mi-mix-2s-t3862712) and to my surprise it didn't boot after that, it just straight went back to fastboot.
So I flashed to the original rom (https://en.miui.com/download-343.html) using the fastboot method and the MiFlash program. My phone booted up again, but when I tried to flash Magisk to have root it got stuck and went straight to Recovery this time (as opposed to fastboot).
Next I tried to flash again using fastboot and then flash the rom I wanted (lineageOS). This time, lineageOS showed the boot screen from that rom, but it got stuck there for almost 5 minutes and then I decided to give up. Now, no matter which twrp or rom I try I either end up not being able to boot it and if I do I cannot flash Magisk for root. Is there anyone who has a solution? Everyone seems to be able to install lineageOS just fine... Thanks!
Here's what I tried so far:
- Flashing original roms (older versions too)
- Using fastboot format data, system, cache to remove all data instead of just using TWRP
- Flashing 3 different unofficial roms (neither worked, all were stuck in their respective bootscreen for at least 5 minutes)
When flashing magisk try this method from NOS_bzone
Hope this helps
Seems like I'm having a quite similar problem.... https://forum.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-mi-mix-2s/help/boot-installing-custom-rom-t3868623
I managed to flash the global official rom + Magisk by these steps:
Download official rom (from: https://en.miui.com/download-343.html) (I used the fastboot method, clean all, NOT clean all and lock)
Download magisk
Download MiPa kernel: https://forum.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-mi-mix-2s/development/kernel-mipa-kernel-t3831437
Flash the rom first using fastboot and MiFlash, then go to TWRP, then magisk and then MiPa (it will retain magisk)
After that I was able to boot and retain a successful root. I don't know about custom roms at the moment, but at this point after working on it for more than 12 hours, I don't feel like trying
am i doing something wrong with the process?
i successfuly unlocked bootloader, flashed twrp with no issue i tried 2 custom roms but non seems to work.
first i tried havoc 2.9, it booted, done my preferred settings, flashed magisk 20.1 all working fine. but when i restart my device i came across this "phone is starting...." prompt and it really takes a long time still nothing happens, go back to recovery again, wiped data, dalvik cache, cache, even formatted it and still nothing. so i tried pixel experience android 10, again it booted up but i cant pass through the initial settings/setup it loops to google pixel boot logo, tried formatting again and wiping caches, nothing new happened. anyone experiencing these issues? help me please.
You're doing something wrong I'm sure of it. I just don't know exactly what. Anyway. There's a Rui c03 firmware flash able zip on these forums somewhere. After doing a full wipe in TWRP do this: Flash the firmware, flash latest Pixel Experience then Magisk 20.4. Should work fine. If stuck on logo boot back to TWRP then format data, reboot.
i will try that another time, for now i settled with magisk patched boot on stock rom
