My poco f1 is on the way and I am wondering what will be the best OS to put on it? - Xiaomi Poco F1 Guides, News, & Discussion

In terms of speed, customization, looks, camera quality, RAM management, etc..? What is the best one everyone uses? I am new to all these android stuff, someone please fill me in and help me out.
I heard many bad things about MIUI that poco f1 uses, thats why i am just anxious to install the best one there is

it's opinion.
But regarding what you listed Miui ticks the box for them all.
Just use it when you get it see how you get on if not happy then flash another and so on

miui is the optimal ROM for it no doubt as i tried most custom roms!!!! ram management, Battery life and features all in one MIUI
although i would recommend not the stock miui But the XIAOMI.EU rom and sphinx kernel!!!
Sent from my POCOPHONE F1 using Tapatalk

Mine's stock global stable 10.2.2.0.. with franco kernel of course

I installed Nitrogen OS on mine, it's heavily customizable, stable, battery is great, I have no complaints about it.

Once you have a feeling of the lightness and cleaness other roms brings you'll understand why miui not cool
Currenctly running pixel experience +fkernel, heavily opmized for battery. Easily two day phone

Use dotOS its official now also made a newibe guide on bootloader unlock and rom flashing : https://forum.xda-developers.com/poco-f1/how-to/aio-t3909060

cleaness and lightness not always means smoothness and that what you don't get from CUSTOM ROMS

I bought the phone to work for me, not me work for phone for free. No time to read custom ROM thread every day, wait for dev to buy new phone and abandon.
Flashing ROM, DFE, All-Region & TWRP (recovery.img) for every update takes 3 minutes for me. That's the only time I waste on phone every week or two weeks, just 3 minutes. So official open beta for me.

http://bigota.d.miui.com/V10.2.2.0....XM_20190110.0000.00_9.0_global_da212305c9.tgz
This one seems to be broken... I can't extract it. I thought maybe i had a faulty download but even after trying 3 times i am still getting error while extracting. So i tried an old version fastboot file and it got extracted normally without error... So the problem is not in my downloading but tte file itself is corrupted.
I want Latest GLOBAL STABLE FASTBOOT..
Not beta

there is no "best" rom, they are all good. u need to try few and find the one that suits at best for your needs. miui eu is quite ok, i found aosip being the best for me.

Just use miui eu with extreme kernel

miui.eu stable or beta if you want. extreme kernel for overclock and speed or franco kernel for balanced and long lasting batt.

Stable 6x Rom for daily driver? With hotspot auth bypass?

My carrier/MVNO is Cricket/ATT. Phone is Honor 6x with EMUI 5. Bootloader unlocked and rooted.
I need to find a stable, everything working, ROM that will also bypass wifi hotspot authentication.
Can anyone point me to what I am looking for?
Thank you!
At the moment, it's really difficult to advise a perfectly stable rom for using it as daily driver, by my PERSONAL point of view. Even if all ROMs are marked as "stable" in OP, browse their relative threads to read some about and make yourself an idea of what you'd like to run as daily driver. There are some bugs, while some of them is common in all the ROMs due to lack of source files, others are rom related only. I immediately look to new roms inserted in this section and until now, I'm still on stock against my motivation to going on custom. The roms that I'm monitoring at the moment are LineageOS, AOSP, OctOS, and crDroid.
Reassuming, i just still miss that feeling of safety that motivates me to going on one of the roms listed here actually; this is my only one phone, and messing up bad would be a real pain in the ***, even if I've done much experience about recovering a bricked phone due various motives, Huawei is a complicated world. Plus, custom camera quality is still incomparable to stock camera quality, so I'll stay on stock for a while, monitoring progresses on custom development. Hope to see the common bugs fixed, sooner or later... devs are surely working hard, and custom development on 6X meshed much lately, so the best has yet to come, developers are making all this just for free, so I'm looking forward for updates
Add this line to the build.prop

I have not yet been able to find a ROM for the 6x that is stable enough for daily driver use. In fact, I've run in to issues even installing most of them. Currently unlocked/rooted on EMUI and even my reflash to stock was broken and EMUI ROM is missing things. I regret buying this phone.
Edit: To clarify, that is the phone's fault. Not the Devs. The Devs are doing the best they can with what they've got.
Been on eliterom for awhile now and its rock solid.

Has it been verified that this works on the 6x? In my research I thought I read where that does not work on the 6x.......But I'll give it a go!

If it's there, delete the ATTEntitle folder in /system/app
Thanks for all the info and help everyone. Unfortunately nothing has worked yet.
The ATTEntitle folder does not exist. That is the mod that worked on my Honor 5x which is Android 5 EMUI 4.1 So my plan is to flash the Honor 6x back to Firmware Berlin-L24HN, C567B110, Android 6.0_EMUI 4.1 US and then delete ATTEntitle.

Will it be easy to install custom ROMS on the Mi Mix 2S?

Hi,
I've been using Nexus phones for years, and I'm thinking of buying a Mi Mix 2S. I don't really like the version of Android that Huawei ships though, and I'd like to be able to install a stock ROM. I assume that this phone will have Treble support (since it shipped with Oreo) and that, because of that, it should be easy to install a custom ROM on it.
Is all of this correct? Will it be easy to install a custom ROM on this phone, or should I go for a different phone?
Your thread follows similar questioning to mine. https://forum.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-mi-mix-2s/help/phone-support-project-treble-t3769780
It does look like it will support Treble and will make roms easy to create.

You know this is a Xaomi phone not a Huawei phone... you won't get the Huawei stuff on a Xaomi phone... although Xaomi is probably further from stock android if you are looking for a stock experience

I doubt it!! Nexus phones are way easier and less finicky!! Mi Mix 2 is my first and probably last Xiomi phone!! Pain in the ass to unlock, and flash roms. You constantly have to format data which wipes phone. Take time to backup everything including nandroids. Wouldnt be so bad if had an sd card

I am looking at this device, as it seems to tick all the boxes (one of very few).
Why did you feel it was such a pain to unlock. I read over the process for the 2, and it doesn't seem to be complicated (though you have to wait 72 hrs). I've had much worse.
I get that an SD would help (the only box it doesn't check for me), but if I've been flashing ROMS for ages, and backups is just part of the deal for me, so I use Ti Backup.

I also have been rooting for years. I starting jailbreaking iphones in 2007, when it was a very long process. As You stated, this phone is almost perferct as for my needs. Bootloader issue was binding. Had to try several Chinese VPN to get it to pass properly. Again, the issue with having to format data!!! I like to flash on the go sometimes but never will on this phone because of the likely hood of getting into a bootloop. Its not a compldeal breaker for me but I may not ever get snother because of it. My nexus 6p, j could flash anything and worst case scenario, I restore with Nandroid.
Dont get me wrong. It has been a good phone with good battery life. Beautiful design. Camera should have been better. In the end, I dont like having to be reliant on needing a computer near bye in case something goes wrong.
Xiaomi phones are pretty easy to unlock bootloader although sometimes you have to wait a week or use some VPN that have Chinese route, so it's very simple to install custom ROM on them.

If youre coming from or going to a Miui based rom you need to format data! This wipes everything. If your jumping from 1 Aosp or similar rom to another you should be ok to dirty flash. As always to avoid issues, its always good to clean flash ( this does not mean format data) so not to bad if youre staying with a non-Miui rom. What I am seeing so far are various issues on non Miui roms with this phone!

Just happened to unlock my Mix 2 a few days ago. The process is pretty complicated with an odd 72h waiting time. Became really nervous after wiping system+data and noticing that flashable ZIPs had been wiped by unlock process. But managed to sideload latest OmniROM weekly (0408) and GApps. All is working well now - fully satisfied.

what's the rom that's most stable right now? I'm on China rom and have 7 days to wait to unlock my bootloader.
unfortunately I don't like the rom, sync issues with my google accounts.
I no longer have the time to keep on flashing ang re-flashing my phone, am terribly busy with work. so I'm looking for a rom where I can stick on it for a few months.
my last device was a mi max 2 and I stayed on nougat, on that one rom for 14 months lol. I don't really care about updates. as long as the rom is snappy and fast and generally bug free.

Same here. Can someone please give us some inputs as to which ROM is best to stick around? (other than the MIUI, I hate it)
Stability and reliability along with good camera usage is my necessity.
Had used PE on Redmi Note 5 Pro for more than 6 months. PE for Violet seems to be slightly lagging when I used it. And I am unable to use finger print in LOS.
I just flashed Evolution ROM. It seems to be built on PE and so far it looks very neat. Will update later with more details.
UPDATE: Evolution 2.0 seems to be the better among the AOSP based ROMs out there. I never noticed any issues. GCAM, battery, signal coverage and integrity, stability etc, seems to be really impressive... Close to stock roms. In case you want AOSP ROM, i would suggest this one strongly.

I tried MIUI, LineageOS, Resurrection Remix and Pixel Experience on my Mi Mix 2s. Here my experiences:
MIUI: Longest battery life and best benchmark results.
LOS: Daily updates
RR: Many options to customize various things
PE: Preloaded with Google's crap
With all 3 custom ROMs I had battery drain (~13% per night).
After testing these 3 custom ROMs I chose LOS, but without Gapps. No more battery drain (maybe the Gapps were responsible for it...?) and a nice, clean and often updated ROM
Feel free to ask if you have any further questions concerning LOS, RR or PE

P3R for stock Google experience. It's also the fastest rom out there with great battery life.
For in between either aosip, arrow, bootleggers or syberia.

Yes that's why I am back on stock lol. I will try more later this week when I don't have work.
Bootleggers 4.2 (with canting kernel) is for me a daily driver since three months now. No 13% drain over night or something like that. (standard 2-3% i think).
Have any rom support widevine L1?

I also had ~13% battery drain overnight with all custom ROMs I tested (LOS, PE, RR). Solution was to go Gapps-free (no Google Services at all). Since then I have no more battery drain (0-1% overnight) and 8.5 hours SOT... I'm satisfied with LOS now

OOS vs Aosp roms, your thoughts ?

I am pretty happy with Oos on my 7 Pro, it's complete, stable and super snappy, but the one thing I want from Aosp roms is the AOD. I don't know if any of the custom roms is stable enough, bugless and as fun as Oos? What are your experiences and did you return to Oos or sticked to one of the custom rom?

I really enjoy custom roms, like HavocOS for examples, however I and a small number of others experience a WiFi connection drop out issue, which forced me to come back to OOS.
However, running xXx magisk rom, xposed (for gravitybox to get features back) and a custom kernel (Arter or Bluspark for example) is absolutely the best for me right now. The phone is nippy fast, everything just works.
And this wifi bug occurs with all custom roms?
If only Mwilky can integrate AOD to his magisk rom....

Ye wifi prob is almost in all ROM expect carbon ROM at least for me I didn't face any issue...
I for one never had the wifi issues on AOSP. I thoroughly enjoyed the customization, battery life, and quickness of AOSP roms but had to go back to stock because I kept deleting all my data by not flashing DM Verity to stay decrypted. Had to protect myself from myself lol.
I just replaced my Mi 8 Pro - great phone - too rare to get any real community support - was running Havoc on that and it was a great zippy setup (SD845, 8GB RAM etc) with the OP7Pro. My reason for doing so is it's the only (bar Android One and Pixel) phone mantufacturer (read Android distribution) that I could envisage running wihtout unlocking the bootloader. and flashing a ROM. I need a clean (locked bootloader and not rooted) device for reasons I wont go into in this thread, and Oxygen OS was the only choice for me really. Love it, and have been using it since the rocky beginnings on the OnePlus One after the Cyanogen bust up.

Sorry for being noob here, but this will make things easier to go back and forth between custom roms and oos or the opposite?

Me I am still hesitant, it's all for having an AOD that doesn't eat 5 to 10% of battery. I am using Taichi on oos but it's a battery eater

I would forget sometimes tinkering while intoxicated. If do decide to go back to custom roms I'll just stay encryped now that I got a fill of which roms I prefer.

Its well worth it Bro. MSM Xtended has the most features and Bliss Rom is my second favorite due to the extreme amount of SOT i would get with and both are just overall better in every aspect in comparison to stock. The only feature I missed from stock was the app lock.
