EMUI 9 Stable is now available for M5 - Huawei MediaPad M5 Guides, News, & Discussion

As the tiltle said, ive seen the 9.0.155 firmware for all M5 Devices, which means that it might take max. 1 month to be downloaded from ota.
See the screenshot below in the attachment
Update 1: the chinese firmware which is C00 might get merged with the other regions firmware, which means that we might get the advantages of the chinese Firmware (e.g. online themes in theme app, .......)
By the way, this update does support Full screen gestures, i saw it after unpacking the firmware
Note: if you want to flash the firmware using flashy, DONT AND NEVER EVER using eRecovery to downgrade as this will COMPLETELY destroying your device, just do not downgrade for now
Update: EMUI 9 is officially start rolling out, some people already received it through HiCare app, All credits go to @sz.hatef's for this announcement.

Woww great news!! Thanks for sharing!!

Not showing up on my SHT-W09C567. Still waiting for 8.0.0.196 to be approved.
When EMUI 9 is released should we be able to root in the usual fashion?

Actually that guide apparently may not be valid for 9.0 according to this:

(scroll down to the Huawei section)

Are you sure that this is a firmware for a m5 sold outside china?
The name is totally different and in the the description it is mentioned the P8 Vip service.

It is under the c432 firmware which means that it is for European countries, maybe it is still under development, but after unzip the files it shows that it is a base firmware

It will not work as it is going to failed by checking the package process

Flashed it via beta flashy. The proces aborted just before finishing. Nevertheless, I've got Pie up and running on my CMR-W09C432. Rooting via Magisk doesn't work.

Did you try rooting using the info I provided in response #8?

Sure, I did. Maybe I'll try the Magisk Beta branch tomorrow..

If I have an unlocked Bootloader and want to keep it (I am on PHHH-Treble, vendor says 8.0.0.161, C423) that way, but update the vendor, is this Update the way to go?
So unpack, patch ramdisk and flash all the necessary files?
Thanks for any help! (there may stand experienced user at the left, however, I'd say, most posts were in a uite noobish state, so that I advanced into this rank without too much progress )

Due to the crash while flashing, I wouldn't recommend flashing the build at all. Besides, my bootloader stayed unlocked, so updating the vendor should be possible, eventhough I don't see the reason for it? Do you want to flash Pie based GSIs?

Yeah, Pie-based GSI are on the horizon ... can only get one or two to boot (phh and I think Havoc).
Edit: I do not want to lose rot, so I'll have to wait a little longer

Is there anyone who got emui 9 official update? I see it on firmware finder and. 195 build is approved but i didn't get it. Even dns change method doesn't work.

Can you please share a video how the full screen gestures look like?
BTW this crash while rebooting after flashing emui 9 on m5 will cause a HUGE problem if you want to downgrade using eRecovery as it happend once to me, i had to send it to huawei service, this problem will not even let you enter fastboot and you can not even unbrick your device using the chinese version of hisuite, so be careful and try not to enter eRecovery at all, (the crash is because there flashy do flash an only p20 pro FSD (firmware package check disable) and it is not for M5 so the abort will be caused while flashing the xloader (huaweis bootloader)

Download Full Package (system update)

I noticed some annoying bugs in Emui, so I thought "hey, why don't reinstall the OS" I tried it over HiSuite but it didn't worked out. After that i noticed the "download the full current package" button in System update. The button does nothing, is this normal? I'm just confused asf, the Mate 9 is my first device so idk. I also noticed that Huawei isnt offering the full roms anywhere where the public can find it easily. OnePlus & Samsung did a better job there... Is there even an easy way to reinstall the OS or update it manually?

Yes. It is normal when System Update doesn't download "full package", cause it checks current and choose not download same version.
And yes. Huawei doesn't offer full ROMs in easy places. They post all ROMs on HiCloud (Huawei Cloud Resource) silently. In a few cases they can post ROMs on Huawei official site, but it is too rare.
Huawei thinks that no necessary to told everyone that new version is coming, cause they are using method with OTA updates.
And no. There is no easy way to reinstall OS or update manually, but with some exceptions.
Current free method uses modified recovery to force update. It requires bootloader unlock procedure (unlock forces factory reset procedure). Additionally method requires some knowledge how whole process is running.
There is paid method also. It is easy in general and you should DNS setup only. But a few percents are choosing pay for service what helps people to install free ROMs.

The easy place to download firmware is firmware finder on Google play store they have all Huawei firmware for all model...
Or we have this site
http://hwmt.ru/oth/HWFF/info/view.php?find_model=
Find your model number and download it.
And for finish we have a very very easy way to force re-installing firmware without root or flash recovery or paid solution or unlock bootloader... It's the 3 button method !!!
Create a folder in external SD card, call him dload and put firmware (update.app) in, turn off your phone press volume down + volume up + power in the same time and voilĂ

Huawei Firmware Finder is private project of enthusiasts. They don't host any firmware and only help people to find ROM in HiCloud. But question from idealfall1 was why Huawei isnt offering the full roms anywhere where the public can find it easily. Other manufacturers do it.

Do you have Mate 9? Did you try install something with 3-button method? I tried many times. It is not working.
In case of Mate 9 Huawei added special tag "UPDATE_ONLINE" in rom. And most roms are with this tag will not install via 3-button...

If you are right, so it is very good news!
5 or 6 months nobody can't install roms via 3-button. There are only 3 service ROMs with tag "offline_update".
What exact version do you have? I will download and check for tag.

Ok, conclusion time. Mate 9 users cannot update via 3-button because of this special flag/string. Does the firmware finder work? It's technically an online update, right? I'm a little bit confused... Firmware Finder found for me some FWs from june... Can I install them? Sorry I'm not looking through this mess xD
When I buy it they are in b126 version and upload on b138 but if the 3 button method don't work for update firmware like you say may be can work for him because he want flash the same version of firmware, are you fellow my reasoning ?

If you're using FF, you must know that it forces ROM to system update.
Workflow is simple:
1. Find ROM
2. Force to system update
System Update will download ROM by self, like update is coming from Huawei officially.
But Huawei prevents this trick on very new ROMs and additionally checks for authorization.
In it's turn, FF can check ROM too, tries to reproduce Huawei's routine.
So, if you want install latest rom, you have to use method with modified recovery to force update.
If you want install old ROM - force update via FF.
P.s. We are all huaweied

Yeah. Good idea.
Three button reset does not work with the Mate 9.
It just doesn't.
You can only factory reset if you're on stock.
That applies to ALL stock firmware as far as I know.

Old firmware?

Hi all. Today I purchased an Honor 6x. I am in the UK. The phone has been on all day and I have been tapping the update button like crazy. It seems that I am stuck on EMUI 4.1.3 and Android Marshmallow. Should there be a Nougat update in the UK for this phone? Thanks in advance

Updates should be already came out if I'm not wrong, try to force the update by clicking on system uodaye -> 3 dots on the upper right corner -> down latest update. If nothing is found, try to write to Huawei and ask about the most recent update for your build
I have sent Huawei an email requesting information with regards to an update. Obviously I'll get no reply being the weekend so I have been sat here looking at firmware finder. So close to using it. From what I understand it won't void the warranty of the phone if I update using firmware finder. What if the update doesn't work can I revert back to the original version. What if the update bricks the phone? Is that easy to fix?
TIA

The rollback packages are available only for a limited amount of models at the moment (and i think forever, if Huawei wouldn't upload other packages as they've decided to do) so it could be a pain without a proper TWRP backup. For unbricking, there are some methods for doing that and it could be easy like it couldn't be, it just depends by the problem that could occur.
Ah thanks RedSkull. I might try and kerb my eagerness and see if I get a response from Huawei. This week's a bit busy so probably not the time to try anything risky.

Downgrade firmware to unlock bootloader to root

Hi all,
I got my new Huawei Honor V10 Saturday and it's an excellent phone! The phone updated itself to the latest firmware as soon as it connected to WiFi.
So now I have BKL - L09 8.0.0. 163(C636)
This is an important question that might help all new V10 people....
Would it be possible to use funky Huawei to downgrade the firmware to before the July patch /update and then use DC unlocker or HCU client to unlock the bootloader??
What's your thoughts on this?
Thanks for your help
D.
Do you have a code?
If you have a code.. You don't have to downgrade
If you don't have a code.... Sorry about your bad luck

He does not have one.
We were thinking, as DC/HCU used to work with Honor V10 (though on their site it only lists AL models, but I have seen someone use it to remove FRP lock), downgrading might be a solution. Sadly there are no dload packages for C636, but they exist for both C432 and C00 on androidhost.ru.
The thing is, if someone has already tried this and it failed OP wouldn't have to waste $45$.
So if someone on C432 who doesn't have an unlock code they could test downgrading to a May patch firmware or earlier.
I can provide instructions if you want to test.
This works fine on Mate 10/Pro as long as you haven't updated to a 02 xloader, then downgrading won't work as recovery will check xloader to prevent the brick that occurs when you flash a 01 xloader firmware on one with 02
I have a c675 on b161...I have a unlock code.. But am unwilling to root the finiky honor..
While I could.. It's not as easy or simple as my old Samsung.. Plus a lot of the features break upon flashing of other ROMs
While I would debloat tweak..I think the phone is fine as it is
Good luck...

OP doesn't have an unlock code. OP is asking if it would be possible to downgrade using FunkyHuawei to an earlier fw, and then to use DC/HCU to get unlock code.
Same way can be done on Mate 10/Pro, I downgraded (Though through DLOAD) from C432B148-SP1 to B142 and DC was working fine. On C432B145+ (June+) it is not working at all.
But I cant find any real proof that DC/HCU was working for global Honor View 10 prior to June firmware.
And as for debloating, there's not much bloat to begin with (thankfully). And preinstalled apps, including some of Huaweis own, can be uninstalled/disabled.
I couldn't live without root But I guess I like tinkering with my phone more than actually using it as a phone, lol
Good luck

You would have to use service firmware from androidhost.ru. I would downgrade to the version which is GPU Turbo. That one might work with DC.
You get instructions with the firmware, but basically just you unzip the file, copy the 'dload' folder from 'Software' to microsd and start dload mode (Vol up + down + power).

B376 is the build that added GPUTurbo so you should be able to downgrade to that.
They added a new bootloader in that so you can't downgrade past it.
(You can technically but your device will hardbrick and you need to flash with TWRP or NoCheck recovery).
It may be possible because huawei started preventing downgrades in Pie, and I'm not sure if they've done so in later builds of Oreo too...

You could try with the Handset ProductLine drivers found in DCs download section, but if it can read phone it means it should work if it's not patched in B376. So chances are they added it in B376, and you can't downgrade past it.
You didn't save unlock code last time you got it?

Unfortunately I could not find the code I was given before.
DC does not identify my phone by name and model it is just saying Found Applications port
Also in DC app on my phone there is no option for code by IMEI ???
I could not find a specific drivers for my phone in download section of Dc site. There is two files for Huawei Android phone drivers but I do not know how to instal them.

How do I update firmware using TWRP

Hi everyone, after some close calls in the recent past which included bricking my phone during an update, I am quite hesitant to do any updates. However, I have a message saying that there is an update ready on my us mate 9 my current firmware version is MHA-L29 8.0.0.367(C567) and the new version is MHA-L29 8.0.0.374(C567) . I tried to do the update using the OTA app but it ends up booting in TWRP. My question is, is there a version of this firmware that can be installed using TWRP? I also do not want to lose my unlocked bootloader in the process. Please see the picture attached. I looked at some of the similar threads but cannot find a satisfactory answer.
Thanks

Rebrand AL00 to L-29 script found, link in post!

Hi!
So i found a rebrand script for AL00 to L-29 on 4pda.ru through the https://forum.xda-developers.com/ma...-mate-20-x-global00ized-2-0-emui-9-1-t3920956 thread, by joining thier telegram group. For it to work an unlocked bl is required ofc, wich i have.
I haven't tested it, maybe someone with more knowledge could take a look at it? Here's the link http://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=932930&st=920#entry89756746

After rebrand from AL00 to L29, can I rebrand from L29 back to AL00? Unlock bootloader code still working? Thanks
Somebody tried?
Is it possible to change launcher then?
What about further updated, who knows.
Ok, let ask this and hopefully those who tried it already can provide an answer.
*The script is for changing your OEM info correct? Rebranding means being able to use L29 firmware as well. Can you explain how or what method did you use to flash L29 firmware?
*The instructions does not say it but do we need an L29 update.zip firmware ready?
*After FULLY rebranding your AL00 TO L29, can you now use 3rd party Launcher?

On telegram group, guy who done this few times said that you can change launcher and that it works only on 123, not 135...

I know about this thread. I'm the one who shared it in telegram group.
I've been reading this thread but not much information or answer really that's why I'm asking those who tried it already in effort to get more information/facts.

Hi people!
Think i'm gonna try this today, but if someone has tested this. When rebranded have you also tested the option to Flash the L-29/global firmware and does it work? Is there a specific firmware you must flash first, or can i Flash the latest L-29 firmware directly?

Hi!
Iv'e been at this script several Times today.
Nothing works all the options does same thing, flashes recovery_ramdisk reboots, then tells me to hold power button+volume up. All that does is takeing me to eRecovery, then if I reboot the phone to fastboot, it says Flash firmware+cust in upgrade mode. Hit any key, i do that and the Windows closes nothing more. So how did you manage to rebrand? And when rebranded do you use L-29 firmware and get the system updates for the global version?

Hi!
I checked and nothing seems to change, ofc i cant check directly efter the script has run, becuase then it wants me to boot into erecovery. But if i turn it off, and start it in fastboot, it says same info again.
In erecovery it says downloaded latest recovery+firmware, but i'm afriad it will download latest AL00 firmware instead. Then i Will not be able to install transformation rom becuase of erofs is present in newer fw.

In theory, if you successfully changed OEMINFO AL00 to L29, then through erecovery downloaded latest recovery+firmware will restore the default FW of L29 (The oeminfo of L29 has been flashed to your device).
Hi.. has anyone managed this successfully? I desperately want to do this though am worried to brick my only device (That I currently can't afford to replace)
My device is currently AL00 9.1.0.135 is this the correct version for this script?
Could anyone do a detailed guide. For us worried people... Happy to contribute beer money, after successful rebrand if required.
Also I noticed looking at the script it installs Magisk to do whatever it does.... Will this trigger anything (like Samsung has Knox) as I don't want to be stuck with not being able to use gpay and banking etc.....?
Would I be able to remove Magisk after and go back to "stock"?
Sorry for all the questions just trying to work it all out before I take the plunge.

So now i think i tested more or less every way, i could think of. Nothing changes and nothing helps.
You say that read the posts in 4pda.ru forum, but i haven't read anything that could help in those posts.
If someone would look at it, I would be grateful
