Magisk for S10+ - General Questions and Answers

Not sure where I had to post this so admins please correct the forum post if in incorrect category....
I just want to know if magisk will be available for the S10+ as i can't live without it. (currently on S8+ Batman Rom Magisk)
I know I can put TWRP, Root, SuperSu but I haven't used that since my S5 days...
I found this but didn't understand it much:
https://www.xda-developers.com/magisk-canary-update-support-aonly-system-root-android-pie/amp/

You need to use canary build for the moment because stable version not updated yet [emoji6]

Magisk is made for all devices, I don't think there is such a thing as Magisk "for S10+", there is only the one Magisk that is used on all devices, it's just a matter of whether Magisk works on your device, if it doesn't, there is not a "different" Magisk that you can try in its place.

First, you need to see if your S10+ has a locked bootloader, if it is locked, you can't flash TWRP.
Have you tried downloading your stock firmware then extracting the boot.img from the firmware then using Magisk on PC to create a modified boot.img from the stock boot.img then flash that modified boot.img then install Magisk on the device?

Is it worth rooting and putting magisk on phones?
Ever since Oreo I found that rooting and adding magisk, Xposed is pointless

Are you trying to root it to stay simply stock rooted? You can use the same method found in the Easy Root thread under the general section.

Oh okay. In that case, download a custom rom of choice, Arter or SkyHIGH kernel, flash the latest twrp 3.0 for the GSM note 5 via odin, full wipe, flash rom and kernel.
Also if you're interested. Follow the steps above but flash this rom instead. It's the latest COKC but deodexed and rooted already, you just need a kernel.

I edited my post.
Basically if you want to stay stock rooted, download a supported kernel like the ones I suggested, find supersu latest beta (google), get twrp 3.0 for GSM note 5, get odin.
Now would be a good time to get an OTG usb drive to keep roms and kernels on as well as backups.
Follow these steps:
Put kernel and supersu on phone or otg
Put phone in download mode and use odin to flash twrp 3.0
Your phone will reboot into twrp.
Make a backup of your entire device in twrp
Flash kernel
Flash supersu
Reboot
You're now stock rooted.
If you just want to flash a custom rom.
Move rom and kernel to phone or otg
Put phone into download mode and flash twrp 3.0
Phone will reboot to twrp
Make a backup of your entire device in twrp
Wipe all but internal
Flash kernel and rom.
How now on custom rom

The kernel will not install root, it just allows root. That's where supersu comes in when you just want to be stock rooted.
To skip all those just flash twrp wroth odin and flash that rom I posted in the link above you quoted of me.

Nougat Beta Registration Live Again

If you missed Nougat Beta registration( via galaxy beta app), there is a good news for you guys. its reopened.
But for that you'll have to flash BTU csc on your phone.
if you're wondering you're data and settings will be lost.
No need to worry, flash with home csc (included) and everything will be fine. then download galaxy beta app and register. viola.....
if someone don't get immediate OTA, take a risk like. deregister and register again quickly and manually check for update. booom.....
if you're worried about how will you get the BTU firmware because Sammobile is down for maintenance. then here you go :
I uploaded the BTU full firmware just now

Hi,
Thank you for the info, but i am new to flashing Samsung phones.
I am based in UK and cannot register to beta program as it gives server error.
As per your post, i need to flash with home csc and then register.
Is there a noob guide on how to flash the csc?
Thanks

Can you please clarify this?
Won't flashing BTU csc (the one from the Nougat beta) via odin instantly wipe data if you're on a different CSC?
I don't see how reflashing your country's CSC (home CSC) after the data has been wiped will help??
What am I missing?
im on android 7 beta 1 and new Registration works here !
now updating to beta 3
I've flashed BTU firmware on MM and downloaded the beta programme apk and register myself. Have yet to receive reply from them. Hopefully its not full. How long does it take to successfully register??

If you're on BTU csc then download galaxy beta app and tap register. that's it.
if you're not on BTU only then flash BTU firmware (from given link).
I suggested to flash with home csc to keep the setting and data intact. but if you flash MM home csc when you're on nougat won't even boot. It'll work only if you're on MM. no matter in which csc you're now.

On a G935F, flashed the BTU CSC (which wiped my data).
So now I'm
AP: G935FXXS1BPJB

For good measure I also tried connecting to a UK VPN.
Still get a Server Error.
Any suggestions?

S8+ 955F ODIN completed in 2 seconds and phone reboots when trying to flash

Hey,
I am trying to flash my S8 955F with the new UK BTU Oreo firmware using ODIN however the process seems to last 2 seconds and then the phone reboots out of download mode and into the normal boot process.
ODIN shows a nice green pass symbol but nothing happened?
Tried a number of different ODINs including 3.12.10.1, 3.12.10 and 3.11.1 but the same thing happens .
What am I doing wrong ?
Running Windows 10.
Thanks
Run with administrator privileges
Make sure you have all drivers installed untick pit file in options

Still doesn't work
Tried it on 2 PC's now and the same problems. Reboots after 2 seconds out of download mode.
How odd..
Have you checked the file size of the files you try to flash?
Perhaps download another Software from updato.com and try it?
I will try that cheers.
Thanks for sharing the link . I have been using SamFiles to download the firmware.
Will report back .
Scott
Same problem
this site tells me to only flash the AP file which I have tried but then ODIN locks on the boot.img.lz4 bit.
Think I need to give up.

Solution
I had this same problem in my G950FD (Rooted) and It wasn't updating.
Here is the quick fix :
Download this odin from here : https://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4431749&d=1519672710
Run this odin as ADMINISTRATOR (This is important) and put up the sammobile firmware files into BL,AP,CP, CSC (Home) which you downloaded.
And click Start! That's It! It will take nearly 3 minutes to update and your phone will restart and update firmware and reboot and you will see SAMSUNG Glowing. You should have updated device with your old data in phone
Hit that thanks button if I helped you! God bless!
Best,

[01/21/2018 HTC U11+ OTA WWE_001]HTC_Europe_1.24.401.12-1.24.401.7

Hi to all!
Finally I received an update.
I checked today and I found it.
Not sure if auto notification works for me so I may be wrong with release date.
The file is a .zip OTA update and I can't install right now because TWRP tells me error E1000 (system contents modified or similar).
Hope you can do better than me...And please do it!!!
Waiting for AFH to grant me developer permissions, I uploaded on my Google Drive.
I'll change when they will mail me.
Here the file:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1fG8T-Ibhzn5jztV9pXT3Zp7VHeZRT8I9/view?usp=drivesdk
Thank you all!
Gussing from the size. This is might be patial update. If device is rooted I think Full OTA will be needed.
My U11+ is running on GSI asop pie but camera is really buggy. Hopefully they release Pie soon so I can get back to stock ?.

Does the earphone adapter work with the GSI rom?

Need Pie on s8+

Hello..i bought a s8 plus dual sim from a friend.everything works fine except some samsung apps including the theme and galaxy store..I tried to update OTA buh it doesn't respond..i tried flashing to 9.0 but had a SECURE CHECK FAIL : BOOTLOADER..i cant even identify the right bootloader..iam even confused as to how to get the right rom to flash.
Will be glad if any one can help.
It seems you have a custom binary.
You need to erase all the data from the recovery and then flash an official ROM with Odin on your PC.

Hold power+bixby+volume up buttons, erase data. Turn the phone off and then go to odin mode (power+bixby+volume down), connect the phone to your PC and flash the ROM you downloaded on your computer with Odin.

Flash the 4 files with the 4 different buttons suggested by Odin corresponding to each file and start the flash once your phone is connected to your PC and in Odin mode. You won't need the last file.

Ok it seems to be linked with the pit file. You normally dont have to flash it because employees do that in factory when your phone is about having a flashed software.
Search on the internet and download SM-G955FD.pit file or download an entire ROM from a downloader. You normally have these 4 files + the .pit file if I remember well...

Yes try this one. The variant FD doesn't seem to exist, I did not pay attention to that.
Everything is written on the link I sent you.

dont flash any just the 3 files before it
and if you still can't flash the firmware, you downloaded the wrong rom for your phone, that happen to me with my s7, i tried to flash the G935U version but my s7 is G935F, the final letter does matter

Flashing thr pit file gave same SECURE CHECK FAILIT error.
I then downloaded sm-g955F rom(which is the same as sm-g955FD i think)
and flashed and had SECURE CHECK FAIL: BOOTLOADER.
I will try Sm-g955N rom rather and see the results

are you using the latest odin version?
and yep, try the N one, no problema
PD: connect you phone to an usb 2.0 port, don't use 3.0 (2.0 is the black one, 3.0 the blue one)
