"Customer Version" list of functions (on MTCE_KLD_V2.94) - MTCD Android Head Units Q&A

Many asks what "Customer Version" means in factory settings.
I am sure it can change resolution and change the last digit of information about "MCU Version", for example:
MTCE_KLD_V2.94e_1 can be MTCE_KLD_V2.94_12 when "customer version" is switched to "12"
I will try to keep updated below list, so If you know anything more, please leave a comment.
1 - resolution: 1024x600
2 - resolution: 1024x600
3 - resolution: 1024x600
4 - resolution: 1024x600
5 - resolution: 800x480
6 - resolution: 1024x600
7 -
8 -
9 -
10 -
11 -
12 - resolution: 1024x600
I have stopped to play with those settings, because when changed to 800x480, the fractals has shown on the display.
After return to 1024x600, the fractals were still visible! To fix this, I had to change screen brightness to maximum level and show on the screen a white picture (or a page of adobe reader) on whole screen for about 10 minutes. Beside resolution, I have not seen any difference.

[Q] Screen size vs resolution (Streak vs everything else)

I'm testing out the Dell Streak and comparing it to some other devices - the G2 and the "Mytouch 4g" - all of which are I think are 800×480 WVGA.
The streak has a 5" screen
The other two are 3.7" and 3.8" screens.
When I look at the youtube app on each - 9 search results will show up on the screen in portrait orientation on the streak, only 6 on the other devices. And similarly I can see that just not the same information will show up on the Google maps screens despite there being the same number of pixels available.
Is there some way to make the smaller screens show that same amount of data?

Question DeX in 4k?

Is there any word yet, whether DeX will finally be able to do 4k, or is it still stuck with 2k?
Bump.
Since the device seems to be in people's hands by now. Could anyone let me know?
Thank you!

Samsung DeX officially supports the following resolutions:
[With an external display device (e.g. a TV or monitor) connected through a cable]
▷ Smartphones (※ Supported resolutions vary depending on the connected accessory.)
1) When an HDMI adapter is used
• 16:9 screen ratio: FHD (1920x1080), HD+ (1600x900)
2) When the DeX Station or DeX Pad is used
• 16:9 screen ratio: FHD (1920x1080), HD+ (1600x900), WQHD (2560x1440)
• 16:10 screen ratio: WUXGA (1920x1200), WQXGA (2560x1600)
• 21:9 screen ratio: UWFHD (2560x1080), UWQHD (3440x1440)
▷ Tablets and foldable devices (※ The following resolutions are supported regardless of the type of connected accessories.)
• 16:9 screen ratio: FHD (1920x1080), HD+ (1600x900), WQHD (2560x1440)
• 16:10 screen ratio: WUXGA (1920x1200), WQXGA (2560x1600)
• 21:9 screen ratio: UWFHD (2560x1080), UWQHD (3440x1440)
※ The Galaxy Tab S7 FE supports up to WQXGA (2560x1600) for a wired connection and up to FHD (1920x1080) for a wireless connection.
※ If you cannot select the desired resolution, check the resolutions supported by the connected display device. If you are using a UHD (4K) TV and it does not support WQHD, then you cannot use it.
※ Note that the resolutions supported by Samsung DeX are in compliance with the specifications required by the DisplayPort standard (HDMI standard). Display devices that fall outside the specifications defined by this standard may not support some of the resolutions.
[With a PC connected through a cable or wirelessly]
• 16:9 aspect ratio: FHD (1920 × 1080)
[With a TV connected wirelessly]
• 16:9 screen ratio: FHD (1920x1080)
※ For Samsung Smart TVs with 4K resolutions released in or after 2017, WQHD (2560x1440) is supported when connected through the 5 GHz band.
※ TVs or dongle devices of other manufacturers that do not support FHD may be connected at a lower resolution.
So sadly no.
Tested with my S22 Ultra with a HDMI 2.0 to USB cable and Wirelessly and indeed no 4K out. Samsung would need to update the Dex backend, rather than the hardware to allow higher resolution.

📲 Resolution Checker [v0.1]

Hello,
Resolution Checker is one of the many apps aBetterAndroid will release for Android.
What is Resolution Checker? Simple to use and very intuitive, it will show you the resolution of the display but that's not all! There will be 3 types of resolutions:
Bars Resolution - the resolution of the navigation + status bars (vertical pixels)
Resolution - the resolution of your display minus the bars resolution
Real Resolution - the resolution you see in your device's specifications
You should use this application if you want to check that your screen is not a fake one and has the correct resolution/ you're a developer/ you're just curious.
Thank you.

Custom Android OS for the Ampire AMX090-4K

Hi,
my uncle has just installed the Ampire AMX090-4K with an android box in hs car and would have a custom rom on it to customize for example the boot logo, etc.
My question is: Is ist possible to install a custom ROM, that will 100% working and without any lags? I'm not sure to look to ROMS for a tablet or android tv or if it's ok, if it's okay to onstall a normal ROM like LineAgeOS.

ROMs are built specific to the hardware that it is to be installed on. If no one has built a ROM for the specific model number of the device, you won't be able to install a custom OS on the device.
To determine if a ROM exists for that specific device, do a Google search for:
"Custom ROM for (the specific model number of the device)"
If that doesn't find anything, you're out of luck unless you you build or port a ROM for the device yourself.
