Release version and codes - unbranded vs. branded - LG G7 ThinQ Guides, News, & Discussion

TL;DR: does a ROM with version v10a BUT with the January/2019 security patch contain all the new features / fixes introduced with later version codes but older security patches, like v10k with the September/2018 patch? For instance: v10a-Jan2019 vs. v10k-Sep2018, being v10a branded, and v10k unbranded.
Detailed explanation:
I have an LMG710EMW (the dual-sim version, sold in Brazil), and have been using ROMs from other regions (through LGUP) to be more up-to-date (was always installing the latest, no matter from what country it was).
However, recently I found out that only by installing the branded version from my carrier I got VoLTE and WiFi calling, so I went from a v10k unbranded to a v10a branded ROM. However, the v10a branded ROM is actually newer than the v10k I was using, at least regarding the security patch. So, is it just a newer security patch that has been applied to an older ROM (feature-wise), or because it's branded, the ROM always keeps the code (v10a), even though all new features and fixes are applied together with the newer security patch?
Hope I made myself clear and not too lengthy.

i want to konw emw flash others versions dual Sim can work?(like emv flash korean version?)

I saved you the trouble. Hit thanks.
I just got the Official Gingerbread. Have no more reboots nor wifi problem. It just works. SGS2 though
I can also flash whatever Official version they have. UK, India, Asia, Europe ect..LG needs a LG branded Nexus phone so they can learn more about software.

[Q] What is the latest firmware for S6 to be on? (RAM fix etc)

getting bit confused with the firmware
I have a UK S6 on Vodafone, firmware updated via OTA and is: G920FXXU1AODG
I look on sammobile and i see a BTU dated newer and is G920FXXU1AOCV
does G920FXXU1AOCV have the latest bug fixes applied? i believe G920FXXU1AODG also has the RAM fix
should i be updating to G920FXXU1AOCV (im not bothered about carrier specific firmware)
Thanks
i guess there is still no update for the ram fix, maybe in 5.1.1 which is coming in june hopefully...
I think samsung uses a 36-base numbering system for their version, so a would 11 and z 36, so ..dg is newer than ..cv
I'm on G920FXXU1AOE3 I imagine that's a higher version than yours and I regularly have 1gb ram free, although sometimes it's 700mb, but apps close randomly while in the background. No slow down though.

Latest firmware for 920F?

Just received an unbranded new 920F that is on C0I9 firmware and appears to be from the UAE. Sammobile shows a QOLK from TIM Italy dated Jan 4 2016.
What is the latest firmware I need without getting carrier specific bloat installed (if possible). I don't want UAE firmware.
Thanks!

Thanks.. Is this branded to a French network with boot logo and bloatware? I'm so confused with with these international versions. Also, how will future updates be delivered? I'm on AT&T.

Hi. Yeah...I'm using international versions now as well. You can get updates via Kies...but I've noticed some regions get updates faster and at different times. I've found just keep track of unbranded and Odin them when u feel like upgrading. My phone was originally UAE...I just turned it into DDE (German) OK2 firmware. Runs great....ZERO bloat. It's awesome. I'm on TMO
France XEF gets fast updates trust me, and about bloadtwares it's good enough for me so is for u i hope, and no special boot logo only the original
cheers
I am unable to flash any firmware with odin without error, can you help?

What is the difference between a BTU and an XEU ROM in 2017?

I say in 2017 because it seems like they're not getting the latest firmware updates recently. Contrary to what made them better than other ROM product codes.
I recently switched to a BTU ROM because I've read that it's the unbranded ROM version for SM-G920F. And that it also receives firmware updates earlier than others. But I also couldn't find much information about the difference between BTU and XEU.
All I know is both of them are unbranded, and contains no carrier add-ons, and are generally preferred overall; if you're not planning on using carrier specific services like Voice over LTE.
Anyone care to explain?

BTU firmware are on phones that come directly from Samsung (unbranded)
XEU firmware are on Sim Free handsets that are generic (unbranded) but not from Samsung.
That's what I've found digging through the forums

Yeah, that's what I found too. But I don't really understand it to be honest. Aren't they basically the same thing? Why would Samsung need to release a separate rom version for unbranded phones that did not come from them directly?

However much I like my s6 this is Samsung you're talking about, they release a million variants of one phone so I have no idea why they would release the different firmwares.

SM-G930F region code for USA?

I'm on the T-Mobile network in the USA, with my unlocked international S7 (SM-G930F), running Android 6.0.1, which reports baseband version G930FXXU1BPJJ and build number MMB29K.G930FXXU1BPLB.
The phone has been bugging me to update to Android 7.0 for a while now, which I ignore, because I'm just not a fan of running the first major releases on my daily drivers. But, I am curious to keep my eye on what versions become available in what regions. Which leads to questions about what international region codes are best matches for use on a USA GSM carrier.
I matched my build number to firmware revision number on updato.com, and I see that it is designed for the SouthEast Europe region (code SEE). Also, I purchased this phone through Newegg in California. Is the SEE region code a good match for T-Mobile USA? It's my understanding that a Samsung stock firware update can and often does replace the baseband (modem/bootloader?) and software ("ROM").
Any opinions on:
What other international region codes would be recommended for USA GSM (T-Mobile, AT&T)?
Slightly off topic:
Is Android 7.0. the latest available stock firmware from Samsung for the SM-G930F? (it seems well past time for an official 7.1 release from Samsung)
