Camera app alternative - Huawei P20 Questions & Answers

Can someone recommend non stock app for photo and video with pro settings?
I am bored of stock non logical options....
Time lapse without settings etc....

I'm trying the most recommended Open Camera, but it has horrible shutter lag. I may try Footej Camera or Manual Camera, but I wish they fixed the huawei camera app. I expected much more with Pro settings.

As I use my tablet camera day by day in my job, I can recommend you "A better camera", which takes really great images. (Your mileage may vary here though, on some smartphones and / or Android versions unfortunately this doesn't run very stable, also gets updates and bugfixes pretty rarely.)
Besides that, I really like Camera MX, quick, good image quality and a lot of nice filters. I don't use these daily, but nice to have nonetheless.
Best camera app imo is the "Google camera" btw, which I use on my P20 Lite. BUT this app is very picky in where and how it is able to run.
But there are a ton of modded apks out there making Google camera run on most actual devices. (Needs Android 7+, but 8+ highly recommended)
I can't use it in my job unfortunately, as we all use Samsung Galaxy Tab S2, stock Android 7 and Camera API v1, Google cam not working.

hello sir, i have a p20 lite may i ask for the apk of the gcam u are currently using i still have no luck in getting the most stable one

What is the Best Camera App?

Like the title insists, what is the best camera application? ie, good focus, decent zoom, silent, many effects...
Snap Photo Pro, but not yet available for the N1.
I really like Camera Zoom FX. Recently updated for N1. Lots of effects, shutter sound can be disabled, easy to use, and add-on packages are all free.
Camera Zoom FX is the king right now for the Nexus One, since it is the only big name camera app out for the Nexus One right now. A memember in another thread said Snap Photo Pro wouldn't be coming to the Nexus One according to an email response he got back from the dev. of Snap Photo Pro. Something about being rather pissed google isn't sticking to their word on Android OS's being universal, including hardware to an extent(ie, you make a camera app for 2.0 it will work on any 2.0 phone, this it seems is not true).
+1 for Camera ZOOM Fx - had this for ever and it keeps getting better!
Does Camera zoom FX allow you to focus first, then snap? It kind of annoys me the way the standard camera waits for focus before snapping.

If you hold the camera button on the screen of the built-in camera app, it will focus first and then take the shot after you let go.
it's great

"Perfect" camera app?!

Hello,
do you guys have an advice for me if there's a camera app out there, matching the following points:
- HDR images with good quality (comparable to stock camera app)
- High-resolution (!) images with good stitching (not the low-res ones out of the stock-app)
- some more features than stock app
- maybe even a kind of photosphere-function
- in-built video-recording, so I don't need an extra app for that
Most of the apps I tried (Snap Camera, Focal, A Better Camera, ProCamera and some more) failed at the HDR-images.. any recommendation maybe?
Photosphere 4.3 download the apk and install it.
Sent from my HTCONE using xda app-developers app
I will try that one, thank you!
.. do you mean the stock nexus-camera-app?!
I only can find Google's Photosphere.. it has the same problem as the panorama-mode of the stock app: low resolution
the stock camera app has the best hdr option, without a doubt. and yea, make sure that you use photosphere, even for just a regular panorama shot, its quality is much better than the panorama option in the stock camera app.
Noticed that already, yes..
But it's still tuned for speed, not high-resolution, quality (stitching and so on) is great though! Would be great if there was a High-Res-Mode for Googles Photosphere in the app.
For now I'm using the stock app an additionally a panorama app for up to 20mp-panoramas, that seems to be the best combination for now.

You should try this:
1. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.flavionet.android.camera.lite
2. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.magix.camera_mx
But on non sense based roms quality of photos will be very poor due to missing htc image chip libs (drivers) in non sense based roms.
Thank you,
Going to test both.
Why it's a so big problems to get these drivers? Why HTC don't give them like we can see in PC world ?

In the old time, you really need a stock camera to get the best quality out but I think now some of 3rd party apps actually done a good job without dedicated ISP like Snap Camera HDR(also supports video recording on our phone [email protected] 20Mbit).
I've been tested it(just a couple of days before) on One S and found result isn't bad for a non-stock camera, the older ver of Snap Camera HDR is bad quality but recent ver does improved much. I actually think that the quality is real close to stock but the zero shutter lag function doesn't seems to be working on our phone and buggy, don't enable it. I set the JPEG quality to best, disabled preview cropping, turn the sharpen to 10~ 15 from 5(default is too soft) and you may also want to enable Stable Shot as well.

Playstore ver only available to 5.4 while the latest one on XDA is 6.3

Some guys also reported CameraNext Modded is a good camera on CM12, maybe give it a try too.

[Q] What camera app are you using on your idol3?

Google Camera? Camera Zoom FX? The default? What's working for you?
Same question here, stock camera is okay, but is there another app that will save to SD card beside stock

I use the stock app for videos, OpenCamera for stills, Freedcam for landscapes using RAW mode , and Google Camera - if I want panorama or photo-sphere.
'A Better Camera' - will save to SD card. It is pretty nice - but I uninstalled it after I realized that the free version had a limitation of number of HDRs pictures it allows.

Using stock, OpenCamera, A BetterCamera. I like OpenCamera except it doesn't yet support writing to external SD.
My main complaint with the stock camera is that it seems to only support two resolution settings (and I am guessing they are the really the same resolution, just one is cropped to make 16:9 aspect ratio). Am I missing something? Is there a way to take lower-resolution photos (e.g. for web posting or faster email upload) using the stock camera app?
I use Camera FV-5.

Does it allow saving to the external sd on lollipop? As far as I know only the stock camera allows that.
Camera FV-5 I found does not work for some reason on the Idol. I start the camera and get a black screen. I do get the settings but nothing else but a black screen. I going to contact app developer soon about it.
The best camera so far (for any device) it's procapture because: it can silent all the sounds (except those in whats app), it can put the grip on and it can capture just by touch. Besides theese, there are many-many other settings as wb, iso, hdr, light mode etc

Your phone has to support Google's Camera2 API in order for the app to even function. Right now only a few devices even support the official Google Camera2 API. The ones I know of are: Nexus 6, Samsung Galaxy Note 4, Samsung Galaxy S6, LG G4. Since the camera hardware is the same as my Nexus 6, I'd expect this app to just work, but Alcatel's software side probably isn't even written with Camera2 API in mind.

Are you using the stock Camera and Gallery apps?

On my old phones, I had bought third-party apps to control the camera (Camera Zoom FX) and the Gallery (QuickPix). Can't say that I used all the features.
Just upgraded to an OP7, and wondering if nowadays it still makes sense to use third-party apps? Or are the OnePlus built-in Camera and Gallery apps good enough?
Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
For me, I am using the stock camera app. Nothing else though. I just got so use to using google's offerings.
Also just stock camera and the rest Google...
