How do I access pocket pc from run window in windows (Start Menu> RUN). I mean, how can I find the IP of my pocket pc or the drive letter!?
Oh! Now I see what you mean! Unfortunately, as far as I know, there is no UNC path to the device's file system. There is a file around here somewhere that lets you use the device as an external drive and I'm guessing that shows up on the PC as a drive letter, if that's of any help. But without any help, the only way I've ever known to access the file system is through the RAPI API programmatically or via ActiveSync for explorer. Sorry for the earlier confusion. If you want to check out that file, it should be easy to find with a search.
Hi All,
I'm trying to map network drive using the Resco Explorer, however Resco does not see the SAMBA (3.2.5) shares
There is nothing in sambas log suggesting the HD2 is trying to connect.
I had no problems with wm6.1 but on my 6.5.x it doesn't work.
I was searching the forum but couldn't find the answer. Anyone has an idea? Maybe someone managed to solve this?
maybe this?

instead of COMPUTER\DISK, try this: \\COMPUTER\SharedDocs (=name of the shared folder on my pc)
this works with me, good luck!

Yep, I did exactly this the other day.
Resco doesn't see samba shares directly (like a windows PC would see them in my network places or whatever), so you have to tell Resco the location.
I have an ubuntu server called "ubuntu", and my shares are "music", "photos" and so on. To get resco to see the shares I typed:
\\ubuntu\music
\\ubuntu\photos
etc...
Note, it wont work based on IP addresses (that was what originally caused my problem).
To find out your PC name (if you don't know it) on a windows machine, hold the windows key, hit pause break, and then click on computer name (this is for XP).
Cheers.
blog post about this very subject
I got it too sometimes. I dont know the reason tho.
But hey it is so easy to set it up manually.
It is longer but will work anyways. Try the method the guy 2 posts above me posted with \\COMPUTERNAME\SHAREDFOLDER
WIll work if you are in the same network.
Ah and make sure not to connect via mobile network but with WiFi as then you are not in the same net.
Thanks all of you!
It works at least partially...
Works for shares without password, doesn't work for password protected shares. When i put \\computer\myshare and then press ok then I'm asked for user name and password. As soon as I fill them in the application freezes (maybe it tries to connect?) I gave it 5 minutes and then I had to reset HD2
Strange problem
I reinstalled resco but no improvements.
Thanks again
Yeah i noticed that one too.
Do not use pass protection on shares.
It must be a bug in the Resco Explorer.
Before i thought i made a fault but i never tried it out again as i assume a freeze as not too good for the device LOL
I'm not sure where the problem is. I tried the same on P3600 (trinity) with wm6.5. It does not freeze, but is re-asking for credentials, so I guess there are two problems:
1) resco on hd2 freezes (probably when the resco cannot connect - bug)
2) authentication problem?
Probably I'll skip the password protection until someone will find the solution...
Works fine here. It sees the shares on my XP machine, but not on the 2 Win7 ones so I have to enter them manually for those. All 3 have password protection.
On one of the W7 machines it "freezes" for about 10 seconds the first time I access the share after a soft reset, for the others it comes instantly. But that particular volume is huge (a 80% full 1.5TB drive) so it might have to do with it if it lists the contents, the others only have like 30GB on them.
You might want to try menu->settings, if you have data active as well as wifi then uncheck autodetection, and delete the network entry (or entries) that aren't your local wifi.
It can happen that it finds nothing or hangs if it tries searching the cell provider's network (that can have tons of hosts) instead of your local one.

Yes - no problem for windows, I'm struggling with SAMBA (linux) shares.
Fixed freezing/credential issues when mapping drives on my HD2
Hi guys,
I had the same problem of my HTC HD2 freezing in the Network Log On dialogue when trying to map a drive, and also the issue where I was repeatedly asked for credentials which would never save. I managed to solve this issue, though in my case the problem was actually due to the network share settings on my NAS device (which is a QNAP TS-109).
What I did to remedy my problem was:
Go to the Administration page through the web-based interface for my TS-109.
Go to the Access Right Management menu.
Go to the Share Folders section.
Click on the Access Control icon for the folder I wanted to map.
Under the Guest Access Right drop-down menu I changed Deny Access to Read Only.
After that I was able to log in with my admin username and password, and to save the mapped drive on my HTC HD2 (I mapped drives successfully using both Resco File Explorer 2010 and HTC Network Plugin 1.0).
Hopefully this will work for anyone else experiencing this problem with a QNAP NAS, or if not then hopefully following similar steps on your NAS will yield favourable results.
Kate.
I am using HD2 with a Qnap NAS . Initially , got problem mapping drive as described by previous post . I did not do any changes on NAS . But , in the resco password page , i uncheck permanent login . Seems did the trick . Able to mapped folder on the NAS , even Hidden folders also . Hope this helps .

I've post this in Resco Explorer Forum, just yesterday:
Re: File Explorer hangs when mapping Network Drive on WM 6.5
First, excuse me for my bad english (I'm italian).
I think to be solved the bug in this mode (I've a Netgear STORA NAS):
- select "Work" instead of "Internet settings" in wi-fi network adapter
- select "Work" instead of "Internet settings" in your wi-fi connection
Now, I can succesfully map all my shared resources and add them in "My Network", but I can't use wi-fi to connect in Internet.
So I've revert both the above settings to "Internet settings" ad all it's ok, browsing in Internet and accessing to my network folder on NAS.
I think that the bug is present only when we try to map a network folder the first time.
I hope to be useful to solve our problem.
Bye
Although last post is long time ago, and mine is too recent. yet I hope it would be useful to somebody, and be able to repay the great advantages I myself got from XDA forum.
HardwareC with Win7 Home Prem, HTC HD2 with RescoExplorer v.8, Wifi Connection
first, as most of the posts, I can see PC while mapping in RescoExplorer.
yet when expanding the +, I had to enter username and password, then I get an error.
well, what I did is that I shared a folder with everyone full access on my PC.
then on resco mapping I typed the full path, i.e. \\computername\sharedfolder
then, I got it...
NOTE: when exiting Resco, and accessing the mapped folder, I still had to enter my windows username and password to access my PC shared folder that has no password...
Thus, I think when sharing a folder with a password, Resco goes nuts. for two passwords must be applied...
Hey guys, TOTAL n00b here
So i attempted to connect my GTAB (tnt lite 4.2.0) to my pc via es file explorer.
I followed the same steps that i used on my EVO 4g when connecting to my pc via LAN feature on the ES FILE explorer, but i keep getting error message
LOG IN FAILURE
-WIFI IS OFF
-SMB SERVER IS OUT OF NETWORK SCOPE
-THE IP IS INVALID
-BLOCKED BY THE FIREWALL
-SMB SERVICE IS OFF
(pic included)
I just dont understand how my evo 4g can connect without any problem and the G Tab keeps getting these warnings when i followed the same log in procedure and i am connected to the same wifi network.
someone plz help out....
Thanks everyone
HP
You didn't mention what O/S is on your PC, but if it's XP, the only way I could get Es explorer to acess a share was to use anonymous login. You also have to set the share on the XP end to allow anonymous access.
Jim
thanks for the reply! i re installed the file explorer and it works fine now, but i am still having a hard time trying to find a software to STREAM all my movies from my pc that does not require for the G Tab to first download the entire movie.
There are several threads in the Themes forum, so check there. For movies, I've been able to stream from my PC using Vlc remote/stream from market.
Jim
There is an application called VLC-Shares http://code.google.com/p/vlc-shares/. I am yet to test it out (setup seems a bit complicated), but the features are impressive. Also it supports plugins and configs to stream other online contents from MegaVideo, etc.
Let us know if you try it out and find it helpful.
well i opted out to use these three
PLAYON
TVERSITY
TV Shows Stream.
aLL WORK GREAT!
i have about 40GB of pics but mainly word documents on a network share that i can access several differnt ways on my android phone using wlan and cifs, esfile explorer. how ever all word ducments open in read only so if i make change the doc must be saved to my device rather then my network.
i dont believe this to be a permission issue on the windos based machine and i have tested this on different windows os's including 7, vista and xp all with the same results.
how ever i do have read/write permission with .txt files. unfortunenatly i need to work with word docs.
also, i have tried a few different apps on my android to work with the docs, including docs to go, but nothing is working
i also tried using cifs to mount the network "drive" to my sd card and it seems to mount ok but when i go to access the mapped drive my file explorer app wont even see anything in the mounted drive that is a folder on my sd card. i have to use a network capable file explorer like esfileexplorer and i end up with the same read-only error.
i cant say that i have done anything correctly so please keep this in mind with any advice that may be offered.
so in a nut shell, i need to be able to read/write word docs on my network, not on the road, but while on the lan.
i have the evo, with cm7 final
I'm trying to access my Shield storage over the network.
I tried using ftp server tools but none of them worked, including es file explorer. They would connect but fail to get me a directory listing. I got ssh sftp server to work, but I can't read any external drives.
I can read the internal Shield drive (the 16 GBs). But I have external drives connected over USB that I want to access. It looks like there is a permission problem. When I change to access the external drives, I can see them in the directory listing but clicking on them and traversing them I get an error. I'd probably have to set it up so the ssh user has root access, but than I'd need to root my device.
My local apps like Kodi can see and access the external drive, its only my sftp server user that cannot.
Is there a simple way to access external storage remotely?
I have the same issue. Did you finally find a solution?
Thanks.
Sam question here, anyone find a solution to this? Thanks!
I'm guessing either Google needs to fix this in their next release, or we'd have to root the box so we can set the permissions for the ftp server to an elevated level.
Hi all. Looks like I'm 3+ years late to this conversation . Not sure if I should have created a new thread instead?
But I got a shield recently, and I have a similar (not same) issue. I *can* access the external drive with sftp (using installed ssh server that I can't find in google play store any more).
However, access to the drive is read-only. I can't upload anything, or delete anything, etc. Through that sftp, I have full access to the internal 16gb drive.
Initially, ES File Explorer also couldnt write to the external drive either. I was able to 'unlock' it to make it work, using these instructions:
https://forums.geforce.com/default/...-es-explorer-fail-error/post/4782494/#4782494
Anyone know how to make that same popup to unlock the ssh server's write access to the drive? Or to unlock write permission to the drive in general, system-wide?
I'm not rooted or anything by the way.
I suppose, alternatively, I can turn on some FTP server capabilities within ES on the shield?
