Polaris for cheaper price

Hi all. I just recently played with my friend's TC and fell in love with it. Sadly, though, I am running very low on cash at the moment, so was wondering how I could get this device for somewhere in the 400-500 dollar range that would work on AT&T. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
you can find it on eeeeebay!
good luck finding one for 400 to 500 tho...Happy shopping...
Seriously, if you are that low on cash opt for a different phone b/c God only knows how pissed you will be if something happens to your unsubsidized, uninsured, $700+ costing phone. Where are you located, maybe you can get a carrier subsidised version? Or go for one of the other phones in the Touch series...Touch Dual is coming to ATT this quarter (assuming you are in the US) also there is a company selling the TC for $579 with a new T-Mobile US contract on eBay<--that's subsized, but not officially by T-Mobile so no US based warranty repair or insurance.

Xperia X1a vs Fuze

Looks like the Xperia X1a is dropping in the U.s. at at least Best Buy for now. I have read good reviews on both devices. Has anyone seen a good head to head comparison of these two devices? It looks like they are in the same league. Thanks
I think it comes down to $299 (+2yr contract) for the Fuze, or $799 (+service you were going to pay for anyway) for a WVGA screen and headphone jack. All other pros/cons seem to vary from one reviewer to another.
The Xperia is metal construction. The Fuze is mostly plastic and high gloss black ( print magnet) The keys are spread out nice on the Xperia, bunched up on the Fuze due to the smaller size. There is a slight tilt on the Xperia and the slide is straight out on the Fuze. I know there are a lot of software differences but just wanted to state the obvious physical differences I compared.
If the Xperia sold for $600 it would be the best deal for a PDA Phone in a long while. $865 from a Sony Style store is just a lot of jack in this economy. ( tax inc )
I have looked at the FUZE and the Touch Pro at Sprint. Something has kept me from buyin either one of them. Yeah I sold the X1a a day later for about the same as what I paid for it. Sonystyle wants 15% restock fee ( ouch )

not necessarily , because you can get the fuze for $299 on 2 year contract, unlock it for free, sell it for ~$500 and then use that money to buy the xperia, making it only 2-300 more expensive. still more than it should be, but not as bad as people are making it seem..

Okay you two are on par, but compare it this way.
No-commitment price = $500
RETAIL PRICE = $849.99
Xprea X1a RETAIL PRICE = $800
It's a hell of a deal. Notice why I put two prices. Because you can only get the $500 deal if you're a customer of AT&T. If you're comparing the retail prices, I suggest you compare the retail prices. Not retail vs no-commitment. The $500 price is retail for AT&T customers only.
i mean, come on, anybody can get a brand new fuze for $500 + tax. If your not an at&t customer, i'm sure you know somebody whos an at&t customer, ask him/her to go buy one for you, no committment. the people who get screwed are our nice neighbors to the north (canadians). none of their gsm carriers have picked up this phone, and i hear the fuze is selling for north of $600 up there..

True. But I was comparing the real retail price. Not how cheap you can get it for. I mean I bet someone could get it for free if they stole it. Or $100 if they worked for Sony or whatever. You know what I meant.
My reasons: PHAIL = bad; WIN = good
NO G-SENSOR! PHAIL!
Embedded screen! PHAIL!
Screen res. WIN!/PHAIL! (depending on pov. To install apps - fail; beauty - win)
TF3D and Panels! WIN!
No tv-out! PHAIL!
Metal casing. WIN!
Roomy buttons. WIN!
Price. UBER PHAIL! (I ain't paying that much for a device. IDK if you people like buying every phone for $1000+ as some of you have.)
Sony camera. WIN!

But I'd guess most in the US eying on an xperia are already with att, or at least considering it. After all, xperia has the att 3g band, not tmo.
As a side note, I think x1 wins in terms of form factor and battery life as well. But even if the two were the same price, I would have gotten a touch pro. I am very, VERY happy with its keyboard.
What's with this "No commitment price"? I went to Fry's Electronics (big box store like Best Buy), and bought the phone for $475+tax (This was Saturday). While my wife drove, I called up AT&T and asked them for the unlock code. They asked for the IMEA number, I gave them that... and they gave me the unlock code. Phone was up and working on the T-Mobile system before we got home 10 minutes later.
Sure, I don't have 3G... but I like my $15/month unlimited data plan with tethering and free Hotspot calling. AT&T wants $60 for that plan. At 156K/s vs 500k/s... that's just not worth it! (And no, I don't think most people could get the plan I have with T-Mobile... had an account with them since they were called VoiceStream...)
All that being said - I owned an X1i for 5 days. It was hands down the faster phone (all that AT&T garbage probably slows the Fuze down... I'll flash it after I figure out what I really want to do with it). But the screen just didn't do it for me. The Fuze screen is flush with the face of the phone and I think that is a clear win over the X1 (think about how beat up that screen is going to look after a few months). The keyboards are 6 of 1, 1/2 dozen of the other in use. I could use both keyboards just fine. The X1i seemed to have this issue, however, where the software keyboard would launch any time input was required ... even if the keyboard was out. Very annoying. The Fuze let's me choose.
The X1 never locked up on me, and I did a ton of installs and had lots of apps open. The Fuze has locked up almost daily for me. Again, I think it is the AT&T bloatware, but I'm not sure.
So my review is also a little mixed. In the end I made a deal with my wife that if I didn't like the Fuze after a month or so, I'd give it to her and get the X1a (since I figure the price will have dropped by then).
Right now, at a price of $475 vs $799.99 it isn't a contest. When neither phone is a clear winner in any category I would say let value decide - and the Fuze is clearly the better value right now.
@Ghallo
Really I have no idea. Yes, it's true that you can get it for $500 anywhere. But if you call AT&T cs. They'll tell you that retail pricing is for those that don't have Aee Tee & Tee and no-commitment (retail for customers) is the no-contract price for Aee Tee & Tee customers.

upgrade phone for $150.

Ok, been talking to Verizon for weeks now, trying to dump this clunker of a phone. They absolutely refused to give me an early upgrade. But yesterday i did get a woman who gave me great advice i wanted to share.
She said even if she did the early upgrade, I would have to accept another 2 year contract, pay $299 for the phone, and the $350 termination fee that goes with it. She said that I should go to ebay and get a New or nearly new Droid Razr which sells for $350 at times. I could sell my charge for up to $200 and my upgrade will cost me $150 without the termination fee. so I'm basically saving $800 by not having them 'upgrade me'.
So that's what i did. I actually paid $375 for an auction with free shipping and saw the charge sold regularly for about $170-190. Still, I can always sell the razr later on and get something new with no penalties from here on.
don't flame me if you love the charge. It's just been problematic for me. Too little memory for my needs. between scrabble, Words with Friends, all my other apps which have 5 meg resident notifiers, my phone crashes often.
why would the $350 early termination fee come into play if they "gave" you an early upgrade....that sounds like cancelling your account and opening a new one...slight miscalculation I would say
she said based on how long i've had phones with Verizion (8 months for the fascinate, and 6 months with the charge), if in another 6 months i were to want another new phone outside of verizon. I'm only getting the Razr because i'm still on the hook for the term fee. I would get the nexus galaxy on tmobile's $30 plan if not for the term fee. By doing this, i will be out by August and can move on freely to any phone and any other non-contract plan. Can even stay on Verizon month to month.
I already moved my wife and son to Tmobile's $30 4G plan and they love it. In August, i will move there most likely if they still offer it.
You really didn't get an upgrade offer it seems, right?
I was on the phone with someone last week who told me I should look on eBay for a new phone since they won't give me any deal. The guy told me I could sell my phone for $200 easy, but I'm not in the market to be playing that game and dealing with idiots on ebay/CL.
I'm actually surprised a bit with Verizon that they wont give early upgrades. When I was with AT&T I got one in 5 months because my phone was stolen and smashed. I got $150 credit towards $$ off the iPhone and extended my contract for 2 more years.

Don't do this. Verizon is expensive but they actually use that money to upgrade their cell sites and make new ones. It is hands-down the best wireless carrier in the US, and in my opinion, worth it unless you spend your whole life in downtown Chicago for example.
When I had my HTC Thunderbolt 4G, I sold that for $150 and used the money to get a Droid Charge from Craiglist for $300, no contact extension whatsoever.
But I was negative $150, but considering how much I hate the thunderbolt, it's really worth it.
Droid RAZR? That would be a downgrade! Locked bootloader, super-wide unpractical bezel, terrible screen (pentile), worse camera. Total gimmick phone that sells due to the huge marketing blitz on Verizons behalf

That's your opinion, not fact, and your opinions are incidentally not shared by the overwhelming majority of people who review phones for a living:
http://reviews.cnet.com/smartphones/motorola-droid-razr-black/4505-6452_7-35033947.html ("4.5/5 With its razor-thin design, jam-packed features, and blazing speed, the Motorola Droid Razr is easily one of the year's top Android smartphones.")

Just because it's not as good as the Galaxy Nexus -- though the latter's lead will narrow once the Razr gets ICS -- doesn't mean it's not a very good device.

I'm not gonna say its a bad phone but the locked bootloader and blur (in general, not really just on the razr) will keep me away from any moto phone for the time being... if they put out an unlocked relatively bloat/skin free (read: nexus) phone I'd give it some thought
my .02
Android central just picked it as the phone of the year over the nexus.
http://www.androidcentral.com/2011-android-central-awards-editors-choice-picks
Fact is that the Motoblur, HTC sense, Touchwiz , all are there because AOSP is just plain. Right now, everyone loves ICS because it's different and adds alot of features over froyo. But how happy would you be with stock froyo or gingerbread. That is pretty much what you will get on Nexus, stock. I like HTC sense, Moto and touchwiz. I prefer to have a phone with ICS and sweet touches. What's funny is that the RAZR is getting the nod over the Nexus while it's still on gingerbread with moto. I can only imagine how cool the phone will be on ICS with MOTO and custom roms.
I looked at the nexus, but ebay has them running for $550. That's a $200 premium. If i don't like the RAZR, which i doubt, i can always sell it a few months out and get the Nexus when the sticker shock price comes down. In the meantime, i'll have a phone that is leagues ahead of the charge and it's 200 megs or RAM that keeps crashing on me.

I love Verizon. But $30 bucks is alot cheaper than any other 4g Unlimited plan. Hell, its the same price as what others charge for 2GB data plans.
Verizon could have done an early upgrade for me and got me for another 2 years. I would have sent them $300 for the RAZR and they would have been way better off. It's their fault that are not doing early upgrades. If I were them, i would do early upgrades as soon as i recouped my profit for the phone which is usually less than 6 months of service depending on options. I can tell the employees i've dealt with at verizon wanted to do it for me, they knew holding onto a customer for 2 more years plus paying $300 for a phone they probably got for $300 is the best way to keep customers. Just a big corporate company not allowing it.

Samsung rebate on Edge?

I see Samsung $200 rebate on Note 4. Would they have a similar rebate on Edge as well? Or since this will be limited edition they might not.

They will do the same thing but when you get down to it its not worth it.
What they are saying in the fine print.
You must trade in a working phone that has a trade in value of $10 or more.
They will only give you a prepaid visa card for the difference.
So if you trade in a iphone 5 and they give you $200 for it. Then samsung will give you nothing.
If you trade in a LG flex and say they give you $150 for it. then samsung will give you the rest to make it 200 which would be $50.
Also you have to wait a few weeks after submitting all the paper work to get it.
I normally just sell my old phone on ebay and get way more money.
Ive S4. At&t version, unlocked. I do not think I can get more $200 for it, so I'll just trade in in case there is a rebate/trade-in program .
You should use Swappa (xda-developers online marketplace). Especially if it bootloader unlocked, means more valuable and I would not give those away to recyclers. Finite number of bootloader unlocked s4's out there.
I really wish price being in this range, Samsung gives some trade in rebate.

And I am one of the lucky unlocked S4 guys. Thinking about holding on to it as a spare since it's such a good phone. I still have my bootloader unlocked i777 too....thinking about holding onto that as well... these things are hard to find.
About the rebate...I'd just pick up an Iphone 4 and use that as a trade in.
Why Samsung is not offering rebate like they did for Note 4 and S5.

Verizon Moto Z for $120 at best buy during the thanksgiving weekend.

I was just wondering if anyone was lucky enough like myself and scored a Moto Z for $120 at best buy during this past thanksgiving weekend? This was an extraordinary deal I have never seen before for such a "flagship" device at this cost WITHOUT having to pay for any contract since it's DPP (device payment plan). This phone has not had development work because of Verizon's strict bootloader lock, and also the high cost of this device. If a couple of ya'll did get the deal, hopefully someone can help including myself to any developer to speed this process up. Hopefully we will have a rootable/unlocked bootloader for this great device soon!
I saw it from a buddies FB share so im hoping it got around too, and one of my mods is pretty backordered maybe thats a sign of sorts.
I opted for the $240 with free JBL sound mod and Incipio offgrid wireless.
However, unlockable bootloader will never happen, and root is extremely unlikely.

I don't think so... It's only matter of time...
check out swappa now. there are like 32 moto z droids for sale. the market has now become flooded. you could probably offer them $150 if you missed the best buy deal. most are even without any mods.
this deal is back at bestbuy... sort of. $120 total if you opt for 24 months of device payments. It doesn't come with any free moto mods though, but still maybe cheap enough for others to consider http://www.bestbuy.com/site/motorol...grey-verizon-wireless/5387201.p?skuId=5387201
Picked up one at the first deal, and two this time. Going to use one as primary phone, second as backup, and sell one. Crazy good deal for a solid phone. Still available on bestbuy.com. Wish I could find it in white. The website would never allow me to checkout with the White. Must be limited availability.
^ you might have a better chance getting a white one in the store. I hope a lot of people get in on this deal. I can't believe a phone with this kind of hardware is going for just $120
Got four.
