Update of April 17
Hello everyone,
The Beta version for the ANE-LX1 C432 has been available since the 15th.
If you had already installed another beta version, here is the procedure to follow everything in place:
We will use the utility Beta-Downy0.4 (very slightly adapted to P20 (TWRP)) Thanks to @Androlark and @side_flip15.
Link : Beta Downy
1) Download the latest rom on fimware finder
2) Decompress the files and rename the file update_xxx_hw_xx.zip in update_all_hw.zip
3) Copy zip files into ZIPS-HERE
4) Launch Flash.bat
5) Follow the instructions ?
Troubleshoot:
If the update does not go to the end, do not panic reboot the phone in recovery (TWRP to disappear) and push on low level formatting.
Restart Flash.bat.
ATTENTION ALL YOUR DATA WILL BE DELETED MADE BACKUP
Update of February 12
I managed to adjust the crashes in the settings. And at the same time the opening of the phone manager.
here are the links to the patch to flash with TWRP.
Warning only do it on a firmware EMUI9
Patch HwSystemManager
If someone tells me how to make my functional rom flashable without you risking a brik. I'm listening.
I'have too an update.APP with the HISIUFS_GPT.img
Hello,
I started wearing the Nova3e 9.0.1.100LOG build.
But I have a problem with the Vendor flash
With HWOTA crashing to 50%.
On the other hand in low level format (Emui Recovery).
Everything seems to work, but I think that since I can not flash vendor, I do not have Gapps ahpps.
I try changing the install.sh openGapps but even the system partition is too big ...
If anyone has an idea ... I'm a taker.
I specify that I am new to this kind of hack ...
Edit 06.02
I managed to flash the PICO Gapps by editing the install.sh file.
the modified zip download : Modified Gapps
How did I do:
1) Check that your bootloader and FRP are unlocked
2) Install Firmware Finder on your device
3) Download the firmware for the ANE-AL00C01 (9.0.100).
4) follow the HWOTA method of @vovan1982 attention only change the firmware not brand. it only takes two files (no data_public). at home that's what it has messed up at startup 50% of maj ...
5) I extracted the update.app with huawei extractor.
6) I flash the Kernel, the system and the recovery. via fastboot.
I had a Huawei recovery message telling me that we had to do a low level reset. then it goes to work.
it is not a certain procedure. and you have to know that at update I was not in stock rom.
If you reproduce it's at your own risk
Hi,
Can you show us more screenshots of EMUI 9 on the P20 lite? Or maybe you could make a video where you can show us the new gestures?
But amazing and fast that you got it working!
Cheers

If my understanding is correct you ported the EMUI 9 from Nova 3e to the P20 Lite? If so then can you please provide download links? As it will be helpful for us. Maybe it will boot on other hi6250 device. Thanks.

Indeed it is not a portage (I did not change the firmware) and indeed also I do not recommend it.
I think I was very lucky ...
I succeeded without touching the oem.
Do not seem to touch the OEM at all
But I think my phone is now a hybrid.
I used the HWOTA method to change the firmware.
For me everything works well, but I know it can break a phone.
If you really want I can put a zip online but I do not think it will help.
Arnys, I'm far from an expert in this kind of hack but it seems to me that the partition system changes from 8 to 9 so a simple zip backup of my phone could not be flashing on a version 8?
I would take some screen shot and a video of the gesture navigation

Hmm. I know a couple of people who managed to boot EMUI 9 including me. But touch doesn't work as we are trying to boot it on a Kirin 655. The solution is a custom Kernel but since Huawei hasn't released the sources yet, we wait. At least it boots flawlessly tho.

No Nougat modem is available until the flashable (non OTA) full stock 7.0 rom is made available from Motorola. This is not likely to happen. No issues have been mentioned running this update on a 6.0 modem. Not sure what the advantages are honestly. I never had problems with bt, wifi, or calls with the 6.0 modem firmware.
Create a backup beforehand and you can always go back to it.

I get "invalid ZIP file format" using TWRP 3.1.1-0 on an XT1575. Was running lineageOS 14.1 but I wiped system and data before trying to install the zip. On my laptop I can open the ZIP fine and extract the files, but that doesn't help.

The OP will need to comment - he may be coming from a rooted stock ; at least according the the thread noted above - if you have installed a custom ROM ; there are other steps besides just trying to flash this
I have NOT tried the OP's method or the referenced thread - so I cannot really speak from experience ; just pointing out other resources that have additional information -
Will this work with XT1572? Just confirming.
This is not a traditional TWRP zip file. It is a backup file. You need to unzip it and put it in the backup directory. You then restore backup, choose the nph25-200-22. . . directory, and away you go!

Well it worked, sort of. It booted to stock but it wasn't stable and the play store kept crashing, I tried all the usual stuff for that, clear services & play store data, uninstall updates, finally tried a factory reset and now I'm stuck in TWRP bootloop, even if I reinstall this image.
So very much YMMV.

My boot.img provided in repository thread is for BLN-L21C432B365 build, as listed in OP and in my post there; what's your build number? An unmatching build could be the cause of this. For example, recovery for BLN-L21C432B365, differs from BLL-L21C130B365 - the B365 at the end is equal, but the build variant is different and so incompatible

I experienced the issue of not working capacitive buttons myself right after I unlocked the bootloader and setup my phone again. After flashing RROS the buttons are working again so maybe it's just a strange behavior of EMUI.
Ah ok, so the capacitive buttons are started to work again when you switched to rros, so not with this rom? On the rros thread in turn is written that home button is not recognized?

Yes they did for me and I don't know about this Rom, I only had that issue on stock EMUI Rom. Maybe they do work here too, because it's a Custom Rom - I don't understand this strange behavior of it myself. Maybe another person who has tested this Rom can answer that question.
The not working home button is a known issue of the RR-OS, it doesn't have anything to do with the capacitive button issue.
Hmm really wierd, but thats exactly why i didnt flash a custom rom for now. I want to have a rom where the main features a working as they should, some smaller bugs are not the problem. My last device was a xperia z3c the roms there were really good, to bad honor does not provide the hole code for the modders. If the Home button (just the hardware one?) does not work you cant use fingerprint unlock also?

RROS is the only bigger Custom Rom where the FPS is working (on LineageOS and AOSPA it doesn't). The not working home button isn't that big of an issue for me because there are a lot of other ways to get to the homescreen when you've got root - or even set a fingerprint gesture so it will more or less behave as it should.
But we are kind of off topic here. If you want to, we can continue about that on the RROS thread.
Nice effort with the firmware, you should grab a friend with English skills though! So you're able to help people needing proper advice on how to flash it, and also your "cancel" buttons will actually read "cancel" and not "CANCLE"... that said I'm interested hence will wait for next version... Maybe.
Cheers.

I confirm this issue. And I think the capacitive buttons doesn't work only after the first reboot next the unlocking. After a second reboot I think the buttons worked again, but I'm not 100% sure.

Update 8 to 8
1. Download the phone to the fastboot mode using the volume buttons "minus" and the cable usb
2. Run the bat file Replace_Recovery. in the HWOTA8 folder to flash the twrp of the recovery.
3. Disconnect the USB cable, use the volume plus buttons and power to boot into the TWRP.
4. Create the "HWOTA8" folder on the sdcard.
5. Put the archive hwota8_update.zip, STF_RECOVERY8_NoCheck.IMG and the three update archives (update.zip, update_data_public.zip and update_all_hw.zip) in the "HWOTA8" folder.
6. Install the hwota8_update.zip archive on the TWRP. The phone will reboot and install the update automatically.
Rollback from 8 android to 7
1. Place the updated firmware files 7 of the androids update.zip, update_data_public.zip and update_all_hw.zip in the HWOTA8 / repack folder.
2. Run the bat file "repack" to repackage the zip files. We will prepare our firmware
3. Create the folder "HWOTA8" on the SD card. (Without quotes)
4. Place the archive hwota8_update.zip, STF_RECOVERY8_NoCheck.IMG (from the HWOTA8 folder) and the three update archives (update.zip, update_data_public.zip and update_all_hw.zip (from the repack folder after repackaging)) to the "HWOTA8" folder on the map.
5. Boot into the TWRP
6. Install the hwota8_update.zip file which lies in the HWOTA8 folder on the CD-ROM to the TV. The phone will reboot into the recovery pool and install the update automatically.
7. After the rollback, boot into the drain of the recovery and make a reset

@gaguga do you think the Advanced settings app will work also on common rooted rom?
Without root is it possibile to modify something?
Sorry for the little off topic.

TWRP 3.1.1.1 for OREO
Beta version
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1W-m-8DNZM3n7RUrhmjyPxSISuRhhyghS/view
boot into the fastboot and flash it with a command
"fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk_a twrp_8.img"
Finaly!!! Thank you!!!
A stupid general question, what is the advantage/difference between fastboot flash recovery and fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk ?
Many thanks

No advantage, it's just the name of the recovery partition now on Oreo.
My question @gaguga : does this TWRP decrypt "data"? Thx.
thx for the hint, so for me it seems that oreo is the best now on Honor 9 because u have root, twrp and capacitive buttons+flash right?

Well, you try the old way and see if it works or not
On the Oreo, the names of the sections have changed accordingly and the firmware paths

Unfortunately there is nothing to "finally!" about here. This TWRP brings nothing more than the temporary one provided by @OldDroid in his guide to install Oreo... Still not decrypting data partition, still not able to do backups, etc... Cute colors, pretty buttons though.
is the Honor 9 such an unimportant device that community support doesnt get picked up? The Honor 8 is officially on the twrp.me site list of supported phones.

Most definitely yeh...
Oh, the lack of support for Honor 9 is killing me! I already soft-bricked 2 devices (bootloop) and the solution should be easy but with Orea changing most of the partitions and TWRP not supporting that yet, I'm just stuck and waiting.
I was hoping this update would bring at least USB support but thanks for the interface though.
Some update? Also about the OTA Oreo for L09-C432?
There is a tested and working root without buttons and camera flash bugs?
I hope to see an update that'll have TWRP recognized by ABD through USB, installing updates suck without this!
For someone may getting too curious and want to try, this version broke my Chinese model STF-AL00.
The navigation bar stop working and so do the flashlight, simply restore the stock recovery will not fix it.

I can't wait for this one, too, but Honor 9's support hasn't been the most impressive so far, so I wouldn't have high hopes to see it soon. However, I hope it shocks me and comes out soon.

Hey all,
I love stock android! So when i read about OpenKirin I was excited. Did anyone use this to install LineageOS on our mate9 successful? What are your experiences?
I have another question as well: I changed my model to the MHA-L29, rooted with a custom recovery.
OpenKirin says it needs to have the stock one. Does anyone have a link to the stock MHA-L29 recovery and a guide on how to install it?

First off, this thread probably belongs in Q/A.
Moving on:
I've run all 3 provided ROMs, Carbon as my daily driver and Lineage and RR for testing various things. They all work pretty well.
For stock recovery & ramdisk, download your current firmware (or if you've run other Treble ROMs as well, the version that corresponds to your current build number in Settings / System / About Phone) using Firmware Finder - you only need the main update.zip for this. You'll also need one of the utilities for extracting them. There's Huawei Update Extractor (I think that's what it's called anyway) for Windows, or https://github.com/marcominetti/split_updata.pl for Linux / Mac. Extract the ramdisk and recovery ramdisk images and there you go.
Installing those is a matter of rebooting into the bootloader and running:
fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk recovery_ramdisk.img
fastboot flash ramdisk ramdisk.img
(The name for recovery_ramdisk.img may vary a bit - the windows app will extract it as RECOVERY_RAMDIS.img.)
From there, just follow their instructions. If you have any problems, hit up the Telegram chat linked off the site, someone will be willing to help.
@irony_delerium, thank you very much. That sounds like something even I can do without too much problems
How do you like it, being on LineageOS?

Like I said in my original reply, my daily driver is Carbon; the Lineage builds I've only run briefly because NFC wasn't enabled, but the CarbonROM builds there have it. I use Google Pay every day, so it's kind of a requirement for me.
With that said, the only thing that's got issues for me is the camera app, and most of the blame for that is with Huawei. It generally works, but it'll close & restart often when switching modes or trying to start a recording.
I know there are various other minor issues with recording video in all 3, again because Huawei. (They put together bum codecs, and then patched the system side of the EMUI media stack to deal with the bum codecs, instead of fixing the codecs.)
Also worthy of mention (especially because I see people asking about this all the time): there is no VoLTE support. The devs are aware of it. Unless you're on a network that is pure LTE, it's mostly a non-issue. If you are, it's probably a deal breaker.
Getting on from there, they're all clean Android experiences, without the overbearing weight of EMUI. They don't try to pull some of the things EMUI did - the final breaking point for me was when it insisted on terminating apps in the background regardless of how much you might actually be using them. (In my case, AdGuard as a VPN service.)

Some comments before, Huawei Firmware Extractor. Extract system.img from the stock rom you used before flash Lineage.
Flash stock system.img in fastboot.
I have downloaded and tried to extract 4 roms but The Extractor tool is Giving error.
Its Giving invalid Hearder crc error.

Go to settings in the app and disable CRC checking. (Bug in the app.)
I was on OldDroid's OpenKirin, but today switched to Carbon Beta 2 from https://openkirin.net/download/. This installed without problems and I did a hard reset as part of installation. The earlier version worked very well, except there were a few bugs. I haven't found any bugs in this ROM yet.
Random question: Does anyone know if it's safe to go from one build to another directly? I'm trying Lineage but would like to give Resurrection Remix a go. The instructions say that you should be coming from EMUI...
Thanks

It's fine to go between them, provided you reload the stock ramdisk (if you installed Magisk) & factory reset before booting into the new ROM.

You can switch between the Custom Roms. I always do. Backup your data on the data partition via USB to PC, go to TWRP do a factory reset and then install the new image via fastboot. Reboot and rejoice

TWRP only works right on a Huawei device if you're either decrypted or running EMUI. (On a custom ROM, with an encrypted device, TWRP doesn't even start up - it locks up at the splash screen.)
Factory reset using stock recovery. Only using stock recovery. The OpenKirin team will not support any other configuration.
yes you are right. but there is still the possibility to do these things with a patched TWRP. I use this for my Mate 9 https://drive.google.com/file/d/1h50RJ6LNNSEVW9CS16C0NjeP7ZZNTECE/view?usp=sharing

And the reason why I say anything is because the 2 most common problems I see are:
1) "I'm on Jio, where's my VoLTE?"
2) "I used TWRP and (it's not working | I screwed up | it's broken)".
The response to the first is universally, go back to stock.
The second, restore your entire stock firmware and then follow the instructions exactly as they are written.
With root, you can back up your apps with Titanium. I haven't had good luck with backing up settings with Titanium and after attempting to restore settings, I usually wind up wasting an hour or two and then factory-resetting and just reinstalling the apps. Now I don't even bother backing up settings, but just back up my apps. Even then two or three seem to be botched but uninstalling/reinstalling those will fix that problem. (It isn't always the same ones, either; not sure what causes this). This approach avoids the pain of configuring apps, e.g. travel app usernames and passwords, as well as preserving messages and the like. The biggest nuisance for me is that I carry around 40 unread Amazon books, which have to be sent to the phone (and I'm not so good at remembering which ones I've already read out of the more than 500 in my account), and I carry a bunch of google offline maps, which have to be manually recreated. Lastpass helps with login information too.
In my most recent (Carbon B2) install, I didn't bother with the backup but installed everything fresh and I had a fully functioning phone with 99% of the configuration I like within 2 hours, since I'd been pretty careful to put all the passwords and so on for my roughly 80 apps into a secured text file, as well as backing up my Nova launcher settings.

Restore your stock ramdisk and recovery partitions. (I'd actually start with a full restore to stock firmware first: get your vendor patches in order. 8.0.0.369 is available for most phones on c567, 370 might be available.)
Factory reset using stock recovery. Flash with fastboot. Magisk for root & SafetyNet.
