I Am curious if they stopped the new firmware update. On Friday I exchanged my 16g for a 32g and when I was setting it up on Saturday it said update available but when I tried to get it it was gone. I had gotten the update on the 16g before switching it so I wanted to check if it was pulled for some reason.
Thx
I currently have UEALGB
I saw in the thread about rooting the 10.1 mention of it being pulled. You can always try to update via Kies (you'll have to download Kies PC if you haven't already), but I imagine if it was pulled that won't work either.

Thanks everyone. I just wanted to make sure i wasn't going crazy when it disappeared.
Bought my GS4 yesturday, this morning around 10am i got an OTA that was about 28mb. Not sure what that OTA did because i cant find any change log anywhere or anybody else talking about it...does anybody know anything?
Build Number is JDQ39.I337MVLUAMDL
On Rogers in Canada
You should probably have put down Rogers on the thread title. I didn't receive anything but I am no AT&T. But one more thing, I was talking in this other thread with the Canadian carrier guys. Is your Contacts and phone app white or black / blue?
Even though I'm on AT&T, I am happy for Rogers customers. Can anyone elaborate on what this update does? Hopefully it addresses the lag?
On US AT&T and no OTA. I wouldn't download any OTA's though just in-case they address the hacked bootloader.
@geoldr: The OTA was launched by Samsung globally.
Good to see you again P-Pat! I got the notification, but rooted before installing in case there was patch to stop root. After I tried to install and it said my phone has been modified and updates are not available. I am now searching to figure out how to install this....
For news on the update, see here: http://gadgets.ndtv.com/mobiles/news/samsung-galaxy-s4-receives-first-software-update-362298

I'm a bit confused at this. Even if Samsung releases an update, we won't get it instantly because the carriers have to test it out and everything right? Hasn't this always been the case or am I missing something?

From what I have read, so far it has been launched on Sprint, Rogers and the international version. I am sure AT&T will come soon. Samsung launches the updates, but the carriers distribute them...that is why Android version updates have different timing for different carriers.

I see. Now just to find out what this update does.
For now I will be staying away from it. I don't want anything locking up the chance of unlocking the bootloader.

This! I just rooted my phone this morning finally and froze the AT&T Software Update and FWUpdater. Should protect me from the OTA when it comes over to AT&T correct?

Somewhere I read they can force push security updates onto the phone without you even having to accept it. This is something I think they would do over the bootloader to prevent people from stopping the patch.

It will save you from an annoying notification, but you have to click to initiate the install. Also, if you are are rooted, the ota won't work. You are safe.

I figured with this method of root it wouldn't effect the update since we weren't messing with the firmware.

This is Sammy's doing, seems like they are taking a harder line this time around. I used the exact same method on my TF300 and OTAs work like a charm.

Thanks Bud!! Nice to see you too. On the screenshot you posted, it doesnt match up to mine. It was 28mb and it didnt have any mention of ''improved stability''. Im really wondering what that was, maybe the canadien version of that european release. Also the build number doesnt match up

not always, i received 2 updates on the GS3 that were released from sammy and did not go through carrier testing, unless they did it so uniformly that it didnt seem like it, but then again, telus and bell got it the same day rogers did, but those updates were stability and securtiy related, they didnt bring any features, so i guess it really depends on what the updates changes
This link confirms what David Dee was saying, it also matches my build number and size of update

I wouldnt worry too much about OTAs anymore since AdamOutler has an Odin flashable current firmware up in the dev forums.

So what you're saying is I can still install OTA's if I rooted with motochopper? But as long as I have the ota update files frozen I shouldn't have to worry?

No, once rooted the otas will not work because it detects device modification.
I downloaded the Flashfire apk in hopes I'd be able to flash from my phone without recovery and every time I try going into the app, it instantly force closes. Has this happened to anyone else?
It's probably because your bootloader is unlocked.
Honestly though I haven't heard of this.
I'm assuming you have the latest version and that you are rooted correct?
Has it worked at all on your setup?
Have you tried factory resetting, installing, and trying?
Maybe this might help someone who is more capable of helping than I am.

Have the latest version and I'm rooted. I've tried multiple times. Ah, I guess I'll just continue trying.
No issue with stock rooted.
No good. I knew one of the last 3 updates had a force close issue on 64 bit fixed. Was hoping it was that easy. Hopefully someone else will pop in for ya

There is one thing you might try. Delete the app. Go to your root folder data/data and delete the eu.chainfire.flash folder. Download and install the app again and see if it works.

I had an OTA update available this morning. It's only 51.3 MB so it can't be anything major. Maybe a stagefright fix? Anyway, I pulled it just in case anyone wants to check it out. I'm already on D80130B. I'm rooted with TWRP. Is there any easy way to install it without losing TWRP?
Here's the link for it: https://www.dropbox.com/s/5ast6zoe514ikjk/update.zip?dl=0
Is it 878 TMO/T-MOBILE(USA) V30c?
D80130c_00.kdz is 1.05 GiB as usual.

I thought stagefright fix too so I let it go for the heck of it. It installed fine and I didn't seem to lose root or anything. I ran a stagefright test and only 2 are blocked which I think is what it told me a couple months ago. I didn't see any obvious changes.

I do. I just ran it right from my running phone. I was in the middle of some work so I wasn't watching it but as far as I know it installed fine. If I check for updates now it says there are none, up to date.
Just tried to install the OTA (51.3 MB).
Phone rebooted, tried to install it and showed error.
Have to hold power button quite sometime to reboot the phone.

Once it went through for somebody, he can tell us!
I noticed that it fixed all but one stage fright vulnerability.
I also just realized that it patched many of the current root solutions.

Oh really? So you lost root then?
I just switched to TMO and got a refurb LG G2 a couple of weeks ago. I stupidly took the OTA before rooting and then realized that many of the root exploits didn't work afterwards. Thanks to the brilliant devs at XDA, I did find a method that works: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/guide-root-method-lg-devices-t3129197
I'm a happy camper running CM 12.1 now!
I am half tempted to unroot using SuperSU unroot tool, see if I can apply the patch and see what happens... or has anyone tried this yet?

I'm not sure that would work. Being rooted doesn't usually prevent the manual installation of updates. The problem is whether or not you have a custom recovery. I believe the OTA needs the stock recovery to install.

Hi!
My problem is that I can't download the latest firmware like the FRD-L09C432B394. The latest for my phone is the FRD-L09C432B389.
I tried rollback the phone to Android 6.0 / EMUI 4.1, installing C432B131 official firmware
The phone takes me to update to Android 7.0, and then to FRD-L09C432B389. After that, no other updates.
I wiped all the things I could before doing that, and uninstalled roots. I don't know what the problem might be.
Hope you guys could help me, maybe there's an obvious spot that I'm missing.
UPDATE: After 9 days I still didn't get the update. I'm sure now there's a problem, and I can't find it.
UPDATED 2: I GOT IT! I finally got the update after 15 days. I had to go manually in the update tab to receive it. Thank you guys for keeping me patient and helping me!
