Update 9.0.0.184 fixed gesture with Nova launcher - Huawei Mate 20 X Guides, News, & Discussion

I know there are people using fluid with adb to remove nav bar or over native gesture using custom launcher.
With update 9.0.0.184 native gesture has been fixed, there's no more "recent app" triggering when you do a fast swipe from bottom using nova or a custom launcher.
Just wanted to let people know.

Lovely stuff, that's me installing Nova again immediately

.184 also fixed the data drop with using a visual voicemail app (T-Mobile visual voicemail etc) and also fixed the 4g data drop when sending mms.

I noticed the mms fix this morning. Nice to see that Huawei is pushing updates to fix little bugs on a regular basis. Some of other big companies should take notice.

Swipe left for Google Now

I tried searching for this and didn't find it, and I'm really curious about it.
Is it possible for the swipe left to google now (which looks incredibly smooth in the KitKat videos) to be implemented into launchers such as nova and apex? Or is that going to be a stock launcher only thing?
Just to clarify, I'm asking if a future version of Nova/apex will be able to copycat this design, not just implement another gesture that opens the google now app. The beauty of these launchers now is that they appear very similar to aosp, but they have many more features. Will that no longer be possible after this change?
Nova (paid) already has gestures that you can set to launch any app. There are 9 gestures although swipe left isn't one of them - not that it matters

Right, I guess that is one option, but it is more jarring to switch to a totally different app than the swipe gesture that it looks like KItKat has. That seem so fluid, almost like it's just another home screen.

From what I was reading, I believe that in 4.4 it actually IS another screen. I mean it's not just that the app is hidden in the background and uncovered by a gesture, it is an option to have google now to take up a page in the layout.

Nova right now cant do anything like the google launcher for kk. When you swipe right there is an actual google now home page.

i really hope that nova will implement this and all the other cool stuff from the new kk launcher... something like a more customizable stock launcher
The google launcher is basically an extension of the Google search app. Kind of like Facebook home. I doubt nova will be able to integrate this unless the build it themselves into nova. http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2013...e-kitkats-primary-interface-is-google-search/

I suppose an app like GMD gestures could help you achieve the same effect

I think it would be cool if you can swipe left to any app of your choice, even if the app has to go on pause.

Remove what? The launcher? You can just install Apex launcher and use that instead if you wanted. If you really wanted to remove it you will need to uninstall it through titanium backup, but I wouldn't recommend that.

fingerprint gesture

Anyone onow a way to use the fingerprint gesture to pull down the notification shade like in the pixel and the s8???? I tried some apps but they usually dnt wrk.... Is it a hardware limitation on the n5 that it might not b possible??? I tried fingerprint quick action when it was in the beta stage and it wrked great, but once it hit the playstore it stopped responding like b4....
Any one know a way?
Hardware limitation I think..
you can use a launcher called: Nova Launcher
but u need to buy the premium version.
to be more specific, it will not act the same way you are asking, in the premium features you have on screen swipe gesture where you can assign the swipe down gesture to show the notifications.
I'm using this method and it is really nice.

op6 beta 6 new gesture aminations

New gesture aminations its feels phone is slow like syrup. I hope it can be turned off soon
Even worse if you use rootless luncher
Works quite well for me. The animation is just as fast, its just different, some people will like it, some wont. But personally, i think, with a little tweaking in further updates, the animation will look very good. They're trying to mimics the iphone app closing animation i think.
No prob here... Using stock launcher really smooth animations... updated from stable...
I'm fine with the animations except the super slow (maybe twice as slow?) home gesture animation... Any idea how to disable or change it? I know I can turn off animations under accessibility options... But I just want the home swipe to be immediate not change everything else.

Is there a way to have the old ones? These are longer and more similar to the iOS ones, what a useless change...

You could also freeze the OnePlus Launcher if your using a different one. That will give you the Oreo recents.

This worked before the new gesture is implemented. Now if you freeze the OP Launcher, the Oreo recents will only show when you use navigation bar. The gesture will do nothing when you try to swipe "home"..

Double Tap screen on/off app need

Kindly help me out by providing an app or trick to to use double tap screen on or off to use it on my Honor Play.
Tried plenty from play store but non work perfectly
None will work unless you root your phone. It's the android version (7 and up) that's preventing it, not EMUI specifically. Unless, Huawei/Honor adds it as a feature, you got not no luck on having it (not perfectly). I tried this several times as well since my previous Asus Zenfone supports this feature (but only for the default launcher) but I really haven't found anything.
There is a widget that locks your screen when you press it... Just add it to bottom bar of your home screen!
It comes as part of emui system

Yep. but only for the default launcher. it can't be added if you have a different launcher. in my case, Nova.
Nova now works with gestures to lock screen on Pie.
And fingerprint scanner still works ?

Hiding navigation bar possible on Android 11?

Hello. I was wondering if there is a way to hide three button navigation bar on my 8t to use a third party gesture app.
I have root and i did try Magisk Hide Props config method by changing qemu.hw.mainkeys from 0 to 1, but nothing changed. Even after reboot the value stayed at 1, but still have the nav bar..
As far as I know, they changed something in android 11 which makes that impossible.
I tried the same with fluid n.g but it did not work
There a way to do it with adb. Haven't tested on 11 yet

Yes even the qemu.hw.mainkeys=1 mod on the build.prop doesn't work on OnePlus 8T, I have no idea why. I used MagiskHide Props module.

Theoretically root (above method) should work, it works on Pixel phones, but currently still not working on OnePlus 8T.
Don't see the problem why they removed that feature. I would gladly use the gestures on Oneplus, but the problem is that it's blocking some features on different apps where I have to press something down in the corners. I think it's because of the google assistant feature.
Why not use the stock gestures?

This doesn't mean "removing" the navbar, what you shown is changing the navigation more from navbar to navigation gestures. What people are talking here is to remove the navbar while in navbar mode, so that they can use third party navigation gestures app.
If you ask why, they (and myself too) doesn't like OnePlus' navigation gestures for certain reasons. Personally, I much prefer the old OnePlus 6 style which is swipe up from bottom left/right for "back" action.

Aka android 9 version. Android 9 also had the two button gesture option. Android 10 introduced this version of it and has been further optimized in Android 11.
Of course this is all stock android versions. Some OEM's modified it like samsung for example. Oneplus isn't responsible for this style as its stock android gesture nav. Maybe in the future oneplus will make there own but there goal is to make OOS as close to aosp as possible while still adding some built-in customization.

Yeah I don't blame OnePlus for this, and it is Google that removed android's ADB overscan feature to hide navigation bar as well. I just hoped that the root method works in OnePlus (the build.prop edit) because it works well on Pixel phones.
I am using Oneplus's gestures + Fullscreen/Immersive Gestures Magisk module, this gives me almost truly fullscreen experience. I hated the arrow key on the bottom left of the keyboard. So this solves the problem for me. Just thought I'd pitch in.

Even though u remove the bottom bar, some apps still consider the empty space there. Check keyboard for example. There is some space and a useless hide arrow on bottom left. I believe OP is looking for a solution to remove that as well(which older versions used to support using overscan). I was looking for a solution to this as well.

You still don't understand, we don't only want to hide that bar, we also want to totally disable the stock gesture so that we can REPLACE with other third party gesture app. On Android 11 the method is to use the 3-button navigation bar AND disable it, so that we can use another third party gesture like Fluid Navigation without the stock one interfering.
If you still don't understand please do not insist you do.
The only person who doesn't understand is you.
