debranding and rebranding - Honor 6X Questions & Answers

if i de brand can i rebrand just as easily or use erecovery

i am scared to brick my phone

Dude, how many threads are you opening? You had already created a thread about debranding https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-6x/help/debranding-consequences-t3890098 so you could post this question there (and sincerely there were already a dozen discussions always about debranding only here, on 6X forums), so please keep the place clean and don't open a thread for every single question.
Use search function instead, almost everything you opened a thread for has been already answered 10 times like, so it'll most likely happens next time too.

I dunno. Maybe. Generally Rule of Thumb is that you stay away from debranding unless absolutely necessary or you know what your doing

ok il make less threads

It's not about making less thread. It's about searching. As my Friend @RedSkull23 pointed out, you already had a thread. You should post in that.

Update To WM 6.1

Hi guys,
So I downloaded 2 Roms of 6.1 found in this forum (the one from Dr Martin and the one from fireburned)
Now before flashing I have a question about the USPL.
I bought my phone factory unlocked. Do I still need to run that procedure before changing the rom?
Secondly, how do I backup my current ROM? (in case of it going bad)?
Thanks
mystical thing called search function
my recommendation, YES! but if you had used the search, you would had found out the answer yourself.... well, we all where new to this too, but a little bit of interest on the matter is really helpfull if you want to learn about it. asking "already-hunderts-of-time-anwsered" questions is just too lazy.
sorry, if i'm a little rude at you, but in the last time such question where asked just too much... folks, this is a forum, not a hotline!!
for your second question, do a search, and you'll found out why you don't need to backup the rom. if you still want to backup after this, if think, you'll find the answer on how to do it in the wiki...
If there is a SHIP ROM for your carrier, no real reason to backup since you can revert to this.
You will most likely need to use uSPL to temporarily SuperCID your device to allow it to flash any ROM as they are CID-locked. Unlocked simply means it does not have a network/SP lock on it.

I understand, but if it's something that comes up often, maybe the mods should make a static post about it? Thats usually to avoid ppl asking the same questions all the time..
Thanks for your input though
good point about the sticky. or we could add it to the wiki, i'll see what i can do in the next few days, but anyone is invited to contribute too (now i'm gettin' lazy, hihi)

Same situation here and I had to run the USPL proc to get the new ROM onto my device.
Thanks for all the input
I actually followed Dr Matin Gonzo's guide to update to his rom and it worked perfectly,
I even got to backup my old rom (using the wiki + the SDA Unlock tool)

Looking for a detailed root guide for the s8 plus

I see tons of youtube videos but there is a high chance of those beeing outdated. I have a g955f model so im mainly looking for a detailed guide on installing twrp and magisk with all the latest links to everything i need for the rooting process.A guide will probably help me from bricking if i dont know what im doing halfway through.
Try searching here. There's already a guide and a thread about this.

No. Search for it. Theres a search box on the forums. Not trying to be a jerk, but forum rules state you are to search before asking a question. And, honestly, if searching for a thread is too much for you, the rooting process may also be too much for you.

It took me literally 30 seconds to find the thread here by searching. You can do it. I have faith in you.
Give a man a fish, he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish, snd he can find threads on his own on XDA.

Uh...okay. so you're just going to wait for someone to spoon feed you, rather than taking time to find the information on your own?

I guess asking for more information is spoon feeding to you eh? I was atleast informed enough to know i need twrp and magisk on a exynos model.

Asking for someone to write you a detailed guide when a whole thread exists regarding your question is asking to be spoon fed. Follow XDA rules, use the search bar, and do your own research.
Its selfish to ask someone else to do all the work for you, if you're not willing to put in the time to search and read the pre-existing thread.

Sorry to jump in here but the guys right, there is a search button and two rooting guides for both versions of the device on here all you have to do is search. . .
The Devs of these methods provide concise instructions for you to follow and apply to your device, its all done at YOUR own risk, Im sure he'd be very happy to help you if you get stuck and you PM'ed him but considering you've not even bothered to read the thread for rooting your specific device is enough to know not to get involved as other users wont appreciate being hounded because you've buggered something up.
people who have been rooting devices for several years will tell you all about the time spent getting the files and installing the correct drivers and software to achieve this and still be met by boot loops and or bricked devices that require RMA's back to specific OEMs or days spent in limbo trying to resurrect their devices.
As he already stated if you can't search and read through a thread that is rammed with tips and instructions rooting is possibly not worth the risk for you and your device
its always worth typing this into google "root samsung s8+ exynos xda"

I just looked at the OPs other posts. In his very short time here, he has already established a habit of asking questions rather than searching for the answer and then getting pissy when someone tells him to search or research.

God forbid i ask for a link. Its not like i had a gun on anyones head.
If you can't find a root guide then i don't think you'll be able to follow it either...
In time it took to write all the messages in this thread, you could have rooted the device 3 times over

Question about flashing new Custom Rom

Its been awhile since I had my Pixel rooted so I just rooted again, but had a couple of questions to verify before I move forward with what i want to do. Right now I got 8.1 rooted on my phone,on Slot A. I was wanting to flash a custom ROM and seen that if you are currently on Slot A, when you flash the new rom, it will flash to the B slot, is this true? Also, if I do this, could I keep my current 8.1 rooted on my Slot A, and use the Custom on the Slot B,kind of like dual booting? I do know with the custom I got to get the Gapps on the opposite slot(right?), so how would that work? I know I can google some of this but havent found a clear answer and want to make sure before I proceed. The Custom I want to use is either Havoc (which I have tried and it failed) or Lineage OS. Thanks
No one, really? Almost 30 people have looked at this and nothing? Not trying to be pushy but just looking for some advice. Not going to Google it and follow anyone so that's why I'm asking here, for expert advice.Ill figure it out on my own I guess.

OK. These forums are not to spoonfeed you. All of the questions you asked in the paragraph above have been answered across the Pixel forums multiple times. Perhaps a bit of googling would do some good.
We should pin how to install on the top of the roms page

I did Google all this stuff, and not finding clear answers to anything just like I wrote, that's why I created this post. Just asking, since this site used to be cool and helpful. Mods go ahead and delete since this ain't going nowhere.

Moto Active Display? (or similar)

All the incredible steps forward in phones and ROM's, and I still can't get myself to forget how much I looooved that Moto Active Display. I miss it so much. ?
Seems like such a step backward not to have it, and Android always seems to be about having everything you can imagine.
Is there any ROM's, Modules, or Apps I can use on my 7P to get this feature back?

Wrong forum, mate..
Use the questions and answers forum
@niko2931
Sorry....was thinking forum closest to the topic, but I guess you are saying everything thread here is threads about an existing actual rom, mod, etc.
I just reposted in Q&A, but I'm not seeing a delete button on mobile. Am I missing it or so I need to go to desktop version?
This isn't a Motorola forum either. Would an op please move this. Thanks.

Motorola forum? *LOL*
That is the LAST place I'd want to post this. They already have it.
I want my Oneplus to do something that Moto does. It is the one thing Moto does right.
Many Oneplus ROM's have things built into them from other phones.
Also, I appologisted above your comment for where I put it, and that I was unable to figure out how to delete it. Please show me how and I'd love to.
My post is asking about if a feature is in a rom or mod for the 7P, or if someone is working on putting the feature into a rom or mod for a 7P. So a rom/mod section seemed a logical place. I hadn't realized every thread was supposed to be about an existing rom/mod. So iv apologized and if I could figure out how to delete it I would.

you could have checked the only twrp thread on this sub. its in development. progress is slow but steady since the kind devs have things to do so the final build will be released when its ready to be released. for now, all we can do is used fastboot for flashing and other things. btw, the thread is HERE.
thanks for the information. sorry I don't generally ask questions.
Mate, wrong place to create a thread.
Yes I have been made aware of that. I don't think I have authority to move it.
