Hi,
I have a Vivo nex dual screen and when I charge it during night (with an alarm set), It's like the phone kill all backgroud app until I unlock it. I have noticed it with whatsapp, if I just turn on the sceen on there isn't any notification (apps from google play store, notification from vivo apps or system are here) and when I unlock it, the notification appears, my friend have send a message in the night and from his app the message was sent but not recieved.
Anybody know what I have to do for these notifications ?
I have the original NEX-S. Three things come to mind:
1. Settings\Battery\High background power consumption\ Locate Whatsapp and enable setting
2. Settings\More Settings\Applications\Installed\Whatsapp\Permissions\Single permission settings\ Enable Autostart
3. Settings\More settings\Task timer\Scheduled power on/off => OFF

It seem push notification does not work well with Mate 7... for instance... whatsapp web.. in order for it to read messages at all I need to push the power button constantly to wake it up from sleep..

I don't know if this has been solved but their is a option on mate 7 which allows you to toggle between notification push and how you handle it when screen is off.
Go into protected apps and enable it and make sure notification manager is set to allow.
i dont see notification manager in protected app.
it's in settings.
Under "privacy & security" you'll see Notification manager and Protected Apps.
From main settings i have only security option no privacy&security.Mine mate 7 is 09-european version.
I'd suggest taking a look at your settings again.
Under "Privacy & Security" section you have:
- Location Access
- Do not disturb
- Notification Manager
- Protected Apps
- Security
- Fingerprint ID
- Backup & Reset
Yes i was in restricted and notification options but there is no option to set notification manager to allow, notify or restrict options.Notification manager is not on the list of apps for which you can set this 3 options or notification manager is with some other name in the main list.

I'm trying to figure out how to get the edge lighting to work. I've set it up to trigger on all app notifications and I have yet to see the lighting function.
Is there a trick to get this to work? Does lighting work when having AOD on?
The apps should also support edge lighting, otherwise you wont see it. As of now, only samsungs default apps only support.
You can use the app called "Edge Mask" from play store to customize edge lighting for all apps.
this is how I got it working with all apps defined & in state screen on or off:
First disable notification for all apps you want to show with new notif style
in settings > notification
install SystemUI Tuner from playstore,
then in miscellaneous > enable Heads-Up Notifications.
scroll down and enable Power Notification controls.
now go back to notification setting, tap the app then slide to level 4 or 5 (peek enable)
the notification for the app should be in new style now (edge lighting enabled)
Now the trick so it also works with screen off:
install from playstore: Lightflow legacy
Add Lightflow in edge lighting setting "manage apps notification"
setting in lightflow app:
the key is the setting in lightflow must enable "Switch screen on" in the app setting
After you add the app in lightflow, goto app setting and tab Notification, scroll and enable switch screen on.
then you will have edge lighting notif for other apps too.

Thanks man, now I have it working with screen on. Just can't figure out how to make it work with screen off heaven with your trick with light flow.
have u turn on edge lighting setting to "Always" ?
also add light flow and all apps defined in edge lighting manage apps.
Any chance you could point me to working root for the S8+ to install SystemUI Tuner? Model: SM-G955F
root is not necessary. just install System UI tuner from playstore,
then follow the step to enable permission from adb . are u familiar with adb ?
- enable developer mode on phone, then turn on usb debugging
- connect phone to computer, start adb
- type in the set permission command in adb, as instructed in the app.
- then follow my instruction above.
I guess that the edge lighting for apps when the screen is on but not when it's off i'm talking about whatsapp for instance it gives you an edge lighted notification when screen is on but not when it's off although you have it in the edge lighting permissions toggled on ,
all you need to do is to turn on the pop up notification in the whatsapp application either for always or only when the screen is off but for me I did it only for when screen is turned off
enjooy
I got whatsapp edge lighting work with display off. But there isn't the text of the message. Only the icon on the screen.
@Bautinho88 How did U manage to make it working for whatsapp with screen off? For me it only works when I select "popup" on whatsapp and that's not good for me
Still wouldn't work on apps with custom notification APIs like Facebook Messenger. Oreo removes the ability to have power notifications too, btw
And lightflow/glimpse notifications seems like a half-baked solution, since it hijacks the icon, and doesn't display any message info for me. Also it hijacks the color.
Oreo allows notification channels, which lets me enable it for most of my apps. like i said, the only ones that don't work use custom APIs for notifications.
I don't think we will ever see a fully working 'Edge Lighting Notifications" as long as it's running as an APK. It should be built into the UI/system in Samsung's skin so that it's not piggy-backing off of notifications with Android, and rather Pre-skinning it as the notifications come in.
Hi,
I recently acquired the Huawei P20 and I have a problem with the push notifications through Chrome. When I activate some push notifications through Chrome I receive them as long as I don't activate the lock screen. If I activate the lock screen I don't get any notifcations during the time the lock screen has been activated, but also no notifications as soon as I disable the lock screen. I don't have any battery saver mode activated.
Also tried the following but no success:
Go to Settings -> Apps
Click the : Menu in top right, select -> [Special Access]
Select > Optimize Battery Usage ->
Click the dropdown menu towards the top of the screen that says: "Apps not optimized [v]" -> change to [All Apps]
Add any application you want to get notifications for without delay, all the time. Eg, Chrome, Gmail, Facebook, etc.
I have no issues with facebook, whatsapp or email.
Hope someone can help me, thanks!
Chrome notifications not pushing when screen is locked
Hi evergreen. Same issue here with P20 Pro. Seems to be working on my mate 10. Anyone has any ideas?
Original Thread : https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6t/themes/app-amoled-notification-light-t3943715
So I was annoyed not having an LED notification light on oneplus 6t so I tried to make one of my own.
As OP6T has amoled display whenever a desired notification comes the app brings in a black screen with notification LED looking animation.
Though this is tested on OP6T, it should be working for most Android Oreo and later phones.
To use it:
Install App.
Disable Ambient Display and any battery optimisation for the app.
Give notification access permission.
Select apps you want notifications for, by choosing a color (Only apps you set a color to enables LEDs).
Note: 1. On successfully selecting a color for an app the text in which the App name is written should change to that color
2. Don't enable the LED for the "Phone App" as it will interfere when an incoming call is coming! Will fix this in next build
Thats it.
Note: To turn off the LED and to unlock phone double tap anywhere on the screen.
Also on pressing power button once the LED stops and on pressing it again it will bring you to lock screen.
App now available on Play Store, please rate and share if you liked the app.

Working Video: https://youtu.be/vFKiHS_ZD-k
If the app is not working check whether the Notification Service is running under Developer Option > Running Services, this service is required for the app to work as intended.
If it is not running after various troubleshoot measures, maybe send the logs.

Is there a 3rd party app perhaps that lets you add a custom Quick panel shortcut to disable/enable notifications from either a certain/multiple/all apps? Something like "Do not disturb" except it doesn't turn your phone into silent mode, it just turns off the text notification/s. Like if I receive an email, the Gmail icon would still show a +1 counter or even trigger the new email sound, but I wouldn't receive any notification at the top of my screen. Like if I'm showing my photo gallery to a friend, I don't want a random email or SMS or whatever from whomever to pop up and my friend sees it - it's none of their business. I know I can also go manually into Settings, Apps & turn Notifications off completely for specific apps, but I just want a quick 1 tap shortcut like I have for "Do not disturb" mode and also not disable them completely, but just the text notification at the top.
