Google Lens issue - General Questions and Answers

I have a OnePlus 6T and a LG V40 both phones are having the same issue. The built in camera apps link to Google Lens won't launch Lens, it acts like it's trying but doesn't. If I use the Google Lens App itself it works. Both devices are running Google Play Services beta and Google beta app. Ive reset both apps, Lens and Camera apps neither work. Any suggestions?

After the new Google App Beta everything is back working.

google updated his google application to works with xz2 and xz2c
anyone have the application , anyone have it working.
still not availabke for my country
You get an update for your standard camera app.
The update is phased.
Wait, someday you will receive it.
Yip, not available for me on UK firmware and latest google update.
I guess it should show up in the Software update --> Apps section for the camera?
It comes with an update to your google app, not camera. Already got it. After updating your google app, open your google assistant and you will see the google lens button at the bottom right corner. It will also show a new Google Lens icon in the camera apps section of the camera.
If you haven't got it after updating google, keep checking after you get another update, you should eventually get it. I already had google lens for about a week. They are slowly rolling it out to more regions i guess.
I'm in the UK and have both the app and a shortcut in the camera app...works fine with no issues ?

Keep getting Google Play Services not available

Hello guys,
I'm new to Android, mainly Microsoft products user. Got the P40 Pro and everything seems fine without the Google Play Services but some of the apps I install using APKPure display a dialog box at startup ("The application requires Google Play Services which is not compatible with your device") but the application keeps running and everything is fine, just getting this annoying popup... got it for eg. on Microsoft To-Do, SoundClound, Netflix... but not on Waze, neither on Microsoft Word/Excel/PPT, etc.
My question are: is there a workaround? I heard about GMS, is this something possible for the P40? Would a custom ROM solves this?
Thanks a bunch for your expert feedbacks guys!
this guy got google working on the p40 pro.

Don't make your life difficult guys.
You can live without gapps as well.
I have setup my p40 pro without gapps and everything works fine.
Nine mail instead of Gmail, tubemate or browser instead of YouTube, apkpure instead of play store, Firefox instead of Chrome and so on...
Also on this phone Netflix latest edition app works perfect.
All current projects of gapps installation its extremely unstable till now.
Try to enjoy your phone

google assistant is irreplacable, and i am driving a lot, so using that is really handy.
Google maps is also much better then the alternatives (mostly in places of interest though)
i agree that the rest can be replaced with alternatives.

Hey, could you do me a favour please? Does Google Translate work okay if sideloaded? I use it quite a lot and would prefer to keep it over other apps (if possible of course) . My P40 Pro is on preorder, I can't wait for next week. Cheers ?

Sorry man but I'm not totally agree.
There are indispensable google services:
maps, drive, photos.
By now, those who have relied on Google for years, will not be able to do without it.
Without forgetting that Google services give access to many services (banks, backups) and the lack of these would make the phone almost an ornament.
Also many apps (including Netflix) work / don't work. It may be that today it works and after an update it no longer works. On YouTube there are tons of reviewers showing it.
Cutious if notifications will work from play store apps on the p40 through what method.
Yes, it works.
i installed it and i noticed that google play games not working and some games can enter throw it and others you can not or it takes time to enter the game to get some info and data throw your play account .
also google pay not working and not enter it
Twitter notifications dont work (there no bell icon in the app and under push notifications settings, nothing appears) the app works fine though). Nest app notifications dont work either. Ebay app not working either. App gallery is terrible, I knew it was bad but not this bad. The phone is beautiful but quite disappointed so far as I dont depend on Google Services much, will probably be returning it, I think.

WhatsApp default camera is UltraWide?

WhatsApp camera is using the Ultrawide lens, everything is barrelled (curved). Instage uses the main camera and other apps do as well. No way to tell WhatsApp which camera to use, unless anyone knows how too fix this?
It's not a Bug. The Facebook Company just has the worst Developers so far. WhatsApp mimics that pretty good... All they had to do would be Reading Out the Camera ID's correctly. Other Apps don't have that Problems. Check Open Camera for example which can Switch an Show all Camera Moses/Sensors... You could leave a 1 Star Review on the Play Store Like i did plus contacting the Support. That could Help...
I fixed the WhatsApp Camera issues with MARS_SOM BETA4. Flash also works fine now with the Camera (Timing works now).

Question Google cam force closing and rebooting

Ever since I received pixel 6A, I have been experiencing this issue which I believe is well known to prior releases in this series.
The moment I open Google cam downloaded from play store and not installed from gcam port repos, it force closes and immediately reboots my device.
Are there any workarounds other than using another app for this?
Google camera is a system app built in, why would you need to download it from the store?
Try to factory flash or just replace from Google

I didn't separately download it from the Google Play store, but it did update itself.
Also the reason I specifically mentioned it being sourced from play store is to let experts know that I am not using any gcam ports or custom modified version of Google camera app.

Interesting....cant say Ive ever seen that happen.
@nikha I too faced the same issue when I got my P6a. It was on Android 12 and I updated all the apps including camera from Playstore. Suddenly it would freeze for a second and the phone would reboot whenever I opened the camera app.
Fix - I cleared the data of the camera app and updated to Android 13 and did factory reset. The issue has not occurred again. So far, no issues.

I did all that you have done and suggested, but no change unfortunately.

If that's the case, I would return it. That sounds hardware related if it's happening with vanilla no apps installed that might interfere android.

Question Gcam with third party gallery

Hi,
is it possible to use Gcam with a third party gallery because I kind of dislike Google Photos?
And if it is not possible by default, is there any workaround or even a Gcam mod for the Pixel 7 which is staying as close as possible to the original but just allows me to change the gallery?
Cheers
Kind-of.
Basically, you need a "google-less" build of Android, like GrapheneOS.
You then can install "gcam-services-provider" (photos release from github, not basic).
The gcam services provider will create a "fake" google-photos that can be launched by camera, which then launches your selected gallery application.
Alternatively, you would have to find a way to fully uninstall gooble-photos and create your own shim.
So this means, I uninstall the Photos app from my Pixel, install the "Gcam-Services-Provider Photos" and install a different gallery app. Afterwards, Gcam will open the third party gallery?
Or do I need to uninstall more than the Photos app?
I know that some of the Google Camera Mods, which were called Camera PX, had an option in the settings to use a different gallery outside of Google Photos.
You can try random versions to see what works, but keep in mind, if I'm not mistaken, the Pixel 7 version of the camera is a version ahead of the older Pixel phones. If something doesn't work correctly, just know that everything works fine on the stock camera app.
Another thing is that normally, these mods were to get Google processing and whatnot to work on other devices or bring newer Pixel features to older Pixel phones(this is the version by MWP). I'd recommend trying the MWP version first and checking the settings after that. Idk which version of the camera by which developer had the option, but it does exist.
