I just bought a Junsun S500 USB DVR camera. When I connect it to my PX3 unit and install the apk it says that there's no SD card (there is) and there is no video on the screen, although it records videos on the "non existent" SD card.
First I thought the device is broken but when I tested it on my other Android devices it works perfectly.
I have no idea why it doesn't work correctly on the Android HU.
I hope some of you have some experience with DVR cameras and have some ideas why this happens.
Have the same issue. The same camera. It works good on my phone Moto G5 by OTG cable with 8.1 android and another HU from my friend with 7.1.1. Have already tried different firmware (stock, hal9k/7.1.1 and Malaysk 4.1) No effect. Have not tried any other USB cam. Think is it hardware issue of some of px3's? Hope there are more people with that issue, so that we can solve this. My HU is 7.1.2 MTCE with 2GB/16GB.
It seems so strange that something designed for in car use, works on phones, tablets and even TV boxes but not on car head units.
What's better, another rom doesn't help, also i did change of three different mcu's update. My original was MTCE_XRC_V2.72_1, yesterday i did v2.84, v2.89 and v3.01 with no visible effects. Will try to compare configs with friend's HU where that camera is working properly. Another try is to connect Simple web camera without integrated recorder. One of friends will look at home for this, maybe tomorrow. Im curious if it works with simple web camera, and how big influence will have on speed of my HU when another apps are on. First of all IGO navi and radio/music player.
However i'd like to know also why ours units don't work simple like others with junsun s500. I believe that another dvr with own video processor would not work too.
Did you find anything different between your friend's unit and yours?
Today I tried plugging the cam directly to the unit's back USB ports and changing DVR settings in factory settings. Nothing works, it's always the same result. No video feed and no SD card message on screen.
Hi!
It's been little long time, but i was waiting for another camera. My friend's android HU is apparently an Intel Sofia platform i guess.
I've connected simple web camera with another app, but so far i did't mess up with recordings so much. I believe, that example of Junsun s500 camera is that is way incomppatible with PX3 USB's (PX5 didn't have possibility to check)
Just today have installed another camera- it's not that small size like s500 but it's working
I can't place links in my posts yet, so You have to look for "Jiluxing 1080p mini WIFI car DVR " on Aliexpress.
App is installed from Play Store recomended from seller "wcvr-pwd" it connects trough WiFi with no problems. The on board view is going bit later than You can see right up while driving, but that's because of network lag. Trough the app You can also watch already recorded and saved movies, it also goes with low frame rate, but when you take sdcard off and place in radio or PC it plays good. For that price i'm glad that is working properly
so, it looks noone found solution for this yet. I have the same problem, with the same camera, Junsun S500.
I am afraid, problem is in Android 7.1.2. It will be good, if we could get Android 8.x for PX3, or maybe v 6.0.
Nope, no solution yet. But it looks like it's compatibility issue with px3 chipset, not Android version. Since thecam works on other Android 7 Head units.

hmm, there must be some trick.
Yes, there probably is, but I don't see it as a priority for developers. There's only a handful of us having this type of DVR with px3 unit.
To be clear, you can still use it as a DVR, as long as it has power from the USB connector it will keep recording. The only thing is you can't use it's advanced features and see a live video feed on your screen.
That being said, I'm selling mine. I already installed front nose cam, giving up on the DVR completely...

yes, I am aware of that. I found recorded videos on SD card in camera. I bought DVR because I would like to see how ADAS and other stuff works.
Have some device and trying start them on linux but can't to find "MessageContent" (sime like this 55342430002000080000a280000000e4040000000000000000000000000000) for usb_switchmode.
Somebody know this msg?
I got mine to work
I had the same problem as everyone else. I connected everything but the head unit wouldn't read the camera. I ended up connecting it to a Google Chromebook and it connected and I installed the apk file that is built into the dashcam and it worked perfectly. I then copied the apk files from the cam into an email and sent them to myself. On the head unit I accessed the email and installed the apk. The dashcam installed and works great.
I hope this helps

If some apps say incompatible on Google play you can try to install them manually.
Search Google for the app APK eg.facebook 1.x.x apk
as for the accelerometer not working that might be a hardware problem. can you still rotate the screen?
I was looking to get this tablet, is it any good?

This tablet is execellent for the price. The manufacturer is really serious about developments. You can visit their site zenithink.com and download the latest version of ICS designed for Zenithink tablets. They keep updatating all the time.
Zenithink C91
I just bought the Zenithink C51 (The 7 Inch Tab) and it was great except for what you just mentioned. Although it had that problem, I went and got the Zenithink C91(The 10 inch Tab). The 10 inch tab had the same problem. What I believe happened was, the tab didn't originally come with ICS so when they loaded they left out certain files. What you need to do is side load the app or find out what files are missing and load them into the tab. If your tab isn't rooted then you will need to root your tab first and then fix your issue. Hers a link on how to root your tab but pay attention. IT'S FOR ROOTING THIS TAB THATS NOT RUNNING ISC. Hopefully that helps
Hi Guys,
so i bought an Android TV a while ago (Sony Bravia KDL-50W805C) and im quite happy with it.
Now i would like to be using Skype, which unfortunately isnt officially supported. I installed the regular Skype APK manually and the App itself works very well. I then bought a UVC-compatible Webcam which doesnt seem to work properly with any app i tried on TV.
Using Skype, i can establish a connection and the webcam is turned on (can tell from the LED flashing) and the webcams microphone is also working. However, no image is coming. Im guessing its some access restriction. I dont see any technical reason why this would not work.
The Chipset of my TV is some Mediatek ... i can tell you better if this should be of importance. Maybe anyone here is able to help me out or point me in the right direction.
Thanks already!
Same issue here, but maby on something
Hey
I have the same issue as Idle_King, but i have begin to do some research. My tv is a sony bravia w80c and I use a logitech c920 as webcamera.
I installed/side loaded skype from my sony experia z3+ with Ez file explorer. Then i relized that the camera and mic dident work,
My first tought was that the webcam dident support otg, so i insertered my otg cable in my z3+ and connected the camera... Nothing happend
The otg camera app found nothing.
After a bit of investigation i found that is a function that need you to identify the usb device, so when I done that, it showd up in the app, so now I know that the camera works like a otg device
I sideloaded the same app to my bravia tv, and it is the same issue here, so i sideloaded an other app (easy otg checker). Maked a search for otg devices and it found my conected webcamera.
So i think that sony must have some sort of usb identify filter that denies the camera to start/connect. So where should i begin to search? Or is it someone that have a solution to this problem?

I successfully use a camera called Canyon CNR-WCAM513G1 (1.)
with WhatsApp on a userless Android X86 running on a VM in order to scan QR codes from WhatsAppDesktop
This VM is a device that has WhatsApp Android app installed and connected 24/7 to the internet, so I can use WhatsAppDesktop on all paired computers without messing around with my phone
Good that I do not use WhatsApp at all, maybe now I start using it, lets see. Side effect the picture that is transferred to the main camera of Android on the X86 is mirrored horizontally
Further I found this: The homepage of app Webeecam has the inofficial most complete compatibility list of webcams running on Android:

I just thought I should share this, since the VR Headset has extremely limited functionality through the phone.
There is a dongle available from a company in South Korea that enables PC use (for movies and Youtube) specifically for the 360 VR. It basically converts HDMI output from your graphics card to USB-C and also has a micro-USB secondary connection for controls.
The name of the tool is Vagle VRD-1000 VR Data Transformer. I was able to get one from the US Amazon this week and waiting for it to arrive and test.
The price was not prohibitive compared to HDMI to USB-C capture boxes that run for a few hundred bucks and it seems tailor made for the LG 360 VR.
Cheers
I'm curious to know how this works out for you. Considering you can grab an LG360 VR google set for under $100, would be a fun addition to play with.
And it works

I've received the adapter this week. It works as advertised for playing individual VR video files and Youtube VR streams. I had to download the VR Player from the manufacturer's website and it appears like a modified version of CodePlex VR Player. It includes a device preset for the LG headset. It also installed the K-lite codec pack and VLC automatically.
Head tracking works, video was a bit jittery as I could only test it on my laptop under W10 with an Intel IGP. The manual specifies Intel Graphics are not recommended. My desktop is sitting waiting for memory modules and I will test again once fixed.
One thing to note - as I connected the glasses through the adapter Windows set them up as a second monitor at their native resolution however I couldn't see anything. The glasses only fired up as I've opened the VR Player. However, after closing the player, the glasses still showed the desktop, but it was rotated by 90 degrees. I will try to rotate the desktop on my PC and see if I can have the picture laid out properly. If it works, it might allow me to play my flight sim on the headset.
Long story short, if you want to watch VR videos on the computer, the dongle will work. I've got the LG 360 VR for $60 off ebay and ended up spending more for the dongle ($90). All together it came down to less than a brand new LG 360 VR bought from LG.
whereto download this vr player?
hi Rothas, I tried to plug lv 360 directly into my NUC which has usb-c (thunderbolt 3, compatible with displayport over usb c), it recognizes it as a display 1440*960. but like you said below, nothing is shown on the goggle. want to try this vr player - you said you had to download from manufacturer's website? can't find the website even , can you help?
thanks

Good to see you found it, could you let us know if it works on the NUC without the dongle?
Also, make sure you select the LG device in the player, that is what brings the picture up on my headset. Thanks.
It worked !!!
wow, good news everyone, this really rocks: get LG 360 plug in to a displayport over usb c compatible computer (NUC 7th gen for example).
and fires up this vr player - so far the image are 90 degree turned - I am so excited so need to share the news first. will tweak more and let you guys know.

everything works inside vr player once the tracker is set to LG ER1 - I guess it tells VR player to align the orientation from the goggle.
can't seems to get it to work directly - it shows the screen but are 90 degree turned, one clock wise and the other eye counter clockwise, so you can't even change alignment in display setting to fix both eyes
overall I am very happy, just saved $100 on this Vagle if your computer is able to output displayport over USB C directly - it works exactly as the adapter does.
thanks Rothas for this great finding, I wouldn't even think it is possible if I did not read your post.

Great
Oh, I forgot to mention to load up the .json preset included with the player, it does something to the viewing plane.
I still haven't tested rotating the display in W10 due to lack of time, I'll post something once I'm done.
I wish I could've saved the $100 but my desktop doesn't have native USB-C
Installed the player and it sort of works. I get the 90" rotated display in the player. Unfortunately my windows doesn't see the glasses driver.Any ideas?
I was able to get my hands on a R100 VR headset for a real bargain.
To get it to work in my use case (As FPV glasses for my racing drone) I need help from someone owning the VRD-1000 "transformer":
Could someone owning said converter please open it up and take pictures of both sides of the PCB? I want to gather some information on the SLIMPORT chipset they used so I can hack together my own adapter.
I am not able to purchase the VRD-1000 it here in europe and importing it would cost me over 200 USD which is quite a bummer
Help would be greatly appreciated! Of course Ill share my findings if this leads to something!

You are my hero!
I'll update ASAP with my findings
There was a question about components used in that Data Transformer dongle. It's not a direct answer, but the following press note lists the components used in LG G5 phone and in glasses themselves (google for the following title):
"Analogix and LG Take Mobile VR to the Next Level with LG 360 VR"
The components are:
LG G5: SlimPort ANX7816 transmitter and ANX7418 USB-C switch and controller;
LG 360 VR: SlimPort ANX7737 converter and ANX7402 USB-C controller.
I have a question to alanma75. What happens when you plug LG glasses to your NUC, without starting that VR prlayer? What do you need to do to force the glasses to show anything?
I have access to one Win7 and one Win10 laptops with USB-C interface. When I connect glasses to them, laptops recognize an external display of 1440x960 resolution, I can extend the desktop to that space, I can drag the windows there, but the glasses remain dark. For a moment I thought that simply there is no back-light triggered, but I don't see any activity on those LCD pa panels (yes, I unscrewed the lenses to look directly at LCDs). What needs to be done to kick-start the goggles?
Just picked up one of these headsets for $20, B&H photo has them refurb for that right now. Have had my eyes on these to try and hack and mod a bit.
But reading over the info, it's gonna be a tough one, maybe not really worth it.
The Vagle VRD-1000 is pretty interesting, this PDF has some interesting details about what it does internally:
http://tvlogic.tv/VR/vagle(VRD-1000) Product Profile_v1.0(ENG).pdf
Interesting parts: I see HDMI to Display Port and DDC. DDC appears to be "Display Data Channel" which is an i2c protocol. See here for some info on that and how that fits in to USB - C https://www.mouser.com/applications/usb-type-c-adds-hdmi/
Perhaps DDC is used to instruct the goggles how to display - for instance it's been mentioned of people getting images, but 90 degrees rotation? Perhaps DDC is used to instruct the goggle how to orient the image, etc.
Then also I see mentioned "Coordination info" this is probably motion tracking info I'm guessing. Personally I'm not as interested in this aspect, I'm more interested in just being able to control the displays, maybe get general HDMI input working.
Here is an interesting github project that appears to be using or attempting to use the VRD-1000 along with this headset https://github.com/TrueOpenVR
How about an adapter Type C to USB 3.0, somebody tried, it works?
The code for get orientation data from USB сan be found after decompiled "Vr Player.Trackers.LgeR1360Tracker.dll" (C#, decompiled without problems with using ILSpy). File "Vr Player.Trackers.LgeR1360Tracker.dll is located in the player folder [1][2]
There can do support for SteamVR and other vr programs.
snap3D, it is probably necessary to send the packet over USB to enable it. LG G5 (or Vagle VRD-1000) most likely sends a special package to turn on the displays. Probably it's done so people do not try to connect to the PC. Need to capture the usb packet (from Vagle).
I also have G5 phone (and obviously VR360 glasses light up when LG app is running and glasses proximity sensor is covered; glasses immediately turn off when proximity sensor is uncovered), but unfortunately no access to USB-C analyzers. It would be interesting to see if the glasses connected to PC (via Vagle adapter or directly through USB-C interface) can continue to show the image after initial packet trigger. To test that theory I ordered a "MeeGoPad T09" micro computer (for $130 from "geekbuying" Asian site), which is less than $10 more expensive than the Vagle adapter (and as a bonus I'll have a tiny PC running Win10 OS; you can go even smaller with PC-stick "MeeGoPad T08"; both MeeGoPads have USB-C interface). I'll try to install that proprietary VR player s/w (link provided earlier in this thread) on MeeGoPad and we will see what happens.

I think that "USB Packet" might actually be an i2c packet over a wire that's a part of the USB C spec. The DDC "Display Data Channel" signal I mentioned before. So might be easier to reverse engineer than a USB packet would.
del
So I took my goggles apart just to look around inside. Noticed these test pads on the main PCB, labelled GND, 5V, D-, D+ and B. So that looks like USB to me, but not sure what B is. These might just be some kind of ISP firmware update pads or something though. I might try to solder a USB A cable to them, plug it in to my computer and see what happens. Also here's a picture of the back side of the board just for info. Let me know if anyone wants a picture of something specific.
0TheRain0, yes, I wonder what will happen.
Does my $75 solution work better LG G4 with the Oneplus loop VR?
Okay, theres this guide that Will help you to achieve even more functionality than those Samsung made products.
You Will need DISPLAYLINK adaptor. I recommend to search 2nd hand market to get that.
Required: USB C to USB B with power source on cable, to charge at the same time.
- Download Display link app and Dual Screen app.
Give permissions to the second app and install whatever Desktop Mode app you want to have Desktop Experience, et Voi-la.
With dual screen app you can choose resolution between 640p to 4K AND you can have a lot of more customization than with desk.

well I could use on my Mi Note 10 when we had a telly at work, not anymore though, we had PS4 and PS3, but couldnt play Mario Kart, while I had Dolphin on my phone but no USB C to HDMI output, so there are cases and people whod use it
I'm very interested! Also I would love to get some links on which hardware to use and which apps exactly to install
Which HU do you recommend to buy?
Now I have Wondefoo MTCE PX5 4/32 (Hal9k mod v 5.1.0) and I wanted to change for something with UIS7862.
I am wondering about the following:
- Teyes CC3
- MEKEDE M700s
- Isudar T72
Is Teyes worth the money? I like this UI a lot, but I've read about these system locking issues against mods, apps and third-party accessories.
As far as I can see, the Isudar T72 doesn't have a cool UI and it's just plain Android without a cool launcher.
MEKEDE seems cool, lower price than Teyes. The UI also looks nice and you can also upgrade the screen to QLED or even 2K QLED.
What do i expect?
- Google Maps + Yanosik (app with navigation and warnings [speedcamera, road blocks, etc.]) + Spotify/FM radio working together
- it's nice if the factory radio app has support for the logo of the selected station
- Google assistant
- volume change in relation to speed
- nokill for the application (e.g. Spotify auto play when it was before the radio was put to sleep)
- rear and front camera in the bumper
- TPMS support (I currently have Deelife TPMS)
- CANBUS for Fiat Bravo II
Does anyone have a 360 camera set for this type of radio? How does it work and is it worth it?
The only question is, which HU will be the most worthwhile in terms of value for money? Which has the least problems?
I've got the Mekede M300S for my Peugeot 308.
Google Maps is working brilliantly with Android Auto. There is a standalone Google Maps app as well, which works just like on your phone
Spotify works (even with xManager), standalone or through Android Auto
I don't listen to radio at all, but I know there's an app which supports stations with logos, easily downloadable
Google Assistant works by clicking on the Voice Search app on the headunit, works natively with the Assistant button on your car or by saying "Hey Google" if you're using Android Auto
Supports adaptive volume
Not sure about autoplay on Spotify as standalone, but Android Auto does support this feature. It'll resume the music when you connect to your car if it was playing before
Supports rear view camera through analog input, front camera through USB. Alternatively, you have the option to purchase an optional 360 camera option, but you need to buy the unit with this as they need to do some modifications to the unit at the factory to solder the extra chip needed. LINK
Does support TPMS. Not sure if it support Deelife TPMS, but they have their own option.
It does come with a canbus decoder I believe, but you need to ask the seller to be sure. It came with one for my Peugeot.
Avoid teyes unless you reside in eastern Europe.
I have mekede store (whoever that is that claim to be mekede) FYT 53 and 116. Model numbers are made up and can vary FYI factory of origin. These are supposted m500 and m700.
Both are good reliable units that have proven superior to MTCx platform.
Whatever you decide, get screenshots of system info and their promise of screen type before handing over cash.
@marchnz nope, fortunagely I am from western Europe The more I read it looks like Teyes is sh.i.t in a nice piece of paper (like candy). Pity, I like theirs design
I think that I am most willing to buying Mekede. It will probably be the most powerful configuration.
But are these QLED screens worth anything? There is a small surcharge for regular QLED, a little higher for QLED 2K, but on the other hand I can see that the buttons on the left are missing on the 2K screen. And there will be good to have buttons for on and off or changing volume, I think ...
@daviddosa As for the front camera, I do not want a dvr (I have a decent Viofo dvr camera), but I want one for parking, like the rear one, but in the front.
All from my list are dedicated for my car, so that they have canbus.
Why doesn't Joying appear in your list?

I just got an AOTO S8 Ultra G2 that I'm bench testing while my car is in the shop and I'm loving it. Like it so good i ordered the dash trim and harness to (temporarily) put it in my truck.

A bit yes.
I want that HU comes with a canbus for my car because I have a Fiat system called Blue&Me. It's pain in the ass...
Without the canbus, steering wheel controls and a few other things won't work. That's why I don't want anything universal, but something that is tested (or should be) for my car.
Just simple Plug & Play.
Hmm, I had the same dilema, thanks to you, this Mekeda M700S look quite interesting.
