[GUIDE][PORT] How to install the Android Pie sGSI on your Xiaomi Mi A1

Here's everything I can provide to the normal user willing to try this out on their Mi A1.
PLEASE VISIT THIS NOTE TO SEE ALL THE REMAINING BUGS

SELinux is permissive
Hw key lights don't light up
Everything else works fine. Just need to update your Google Play services app and you can restore apps via Google Backup (if you didn't already do it with Titanium Backup). Yes, rooting with Magisk works and some modules work as well such as Blobmojis among others.
Here are the steps to install it in your Mi A1 if you're coming from stock ROM
Or watch a video made by @GizmoFreak
Enable Developer options in Settings app
Check Enable OEM Unlocking
Reboot to fastboot mode
Unlock your bootloader
Install TWRP-fastboot only through fastboot boot command (Extract the .img file from the zip)
Flash CosmicDan's TWRP Installer through your current TWRP. Credits to @CosmicDan for his TWRP and @mohancm for official TWRP sources.
Reboot to TWRP recovery
Go to WIPE then ADVANCED then click FORMAT data. This will remove Encryption on your device and allows you to set new passwords when installing the GSI. Note that this will format your internal storage.
Treblelize through TWRP Tissot Manager (Go to advanced, click Tissot Manager and choose the repartition userdata option. Select singleboot option then click repartition)
Flash latest Vendor.img as VENDOR IMAGE
Flash A/B system Pie PR2 img as SYSTEM IMAGE (Extract the .img file from the zip) (special thanks to @dgadelha for the sGSI)
Flash POST-sGSI 1 tissot zip.
Flash POST-sGSI 2 tissot zip.
Flash a treble-compatible kernel (Moun, ProjectK,Velocity)(credits to @mountaser halak, @khusika, @kdragon)
Reboot to system.
Once booted, install the latest Play services linked above either via the Files app or via adb. This will fix the Pixel Setup and Google Backup issues as well as allows you access to the Play Store without problems.
You can now flash Magisk 17.3. This is the version that works properly with treble. Credits to @topjohnwu for Magisk.
Install the Data transfer tool APK update as well.
Special thanks to @erfanoabdi for porting the Pie A/B GSI.
Some features may seem to be broken but can actually be fixed with a few tweaks
USB MTP FIX
To enable USB MTP, enable Developer options in the About phone section of the Settings app by tapping the Build Number 4 times. Then look for the File Transfer option in the Dev options.
ENABLE NAV BAR GESTURES
To enable Nav Bar, I installed this nav bar enabler by @Hugwalk via Magisk.
After rebooting, go to Settings > System > Gesture and enable Swipe Up on Home Button to enable the Nav Bar Gestures.
SUBSTRATUM
Substratum is now much better for Pie.
Install the latest APK from this telegram channel and now all themes with Pie support can be installed.. Just reboot after building the themes and go into managers to enable the overlays you built.

You should have the Android Pie booting on your Mi A1 now with less issues.
To update from PR1 to PR2, you can do so without wiping data

Try Footej Camera from Play Store please, it can be usefull if Footej or Open Camera works

lol, then just wait for the official release. This is as close as we can get, for now since google hasn't uploaded the source code for P yet

I'm already looking into a fix for Camera. I'll post it once it's available.

What if I want to come back from Android Phone to another Custom ROM? Do I have to "un-treble" the device?

When I Flash A/B system GSI img i have a 255 error: Updater process ended with ERROR: 255 Error installing xip file `tissot_manager/flash_proxy.zip`. How i can fix it? What is the problem?

Remove the spaces from the folder name and try... Works for me...

Camera has been fixed. Just adding some more fixes and we'll probably get fingerprint working too. I'll update the links later when done.

It seems current stable rom has some bugs in vendor or firmware (e.g. Google Camera is laggy).

It's just as good if not better no problems

I like the quickstep launcher more because of the swipe down for the notifications gesture etc. Pixel launcher doesn't provide that right?
Arrow ROM is really great and smooth!

If i came from pixel experience i just factory reset it then flash or need to flash again the chinese developer rom for a stable gcam?

I fixed ZIP installation and added 190113_04 build.
Now you don't need to download separate zip for kernel, but you have to flash Magisk v17.3 zip after rom zip.

Flash just the vendor IMG, to vendor from twrp, but no it won't as long as you uncheck relock bootloader

The zip rom file works great!

Now if we have an app for the slider to work(like open camera) it would be great

Also there is a poco miui cam port for aosp based roms.Already there is mi8 magisk zip.....I dont know if it is easy to work on mi mix 3

Ghost Touch issue fix fts panel.

So after a dozens of tests I discovered a setup that minimize the ghost touch issue it's like you don't have it.
I have fts-ts panel and 2018.12 batch and i had a stupid amount of ghost touchs anyways here the method :
boot into twrp recovery.
full wipe :
Wipe-> Format Date-> "yes"-> Reboot-> Recovery
Wipe-> Advanced Wipe-> (Dalvik, Cache, System, Data, Internal Storage)
Wipe-> Swipe to Factory Reset -> Reboot-> Recovery
and here's my setup :
POCOF1Global_V10.3.7.0-firm GoogleDrive
twrp-3.3.0-0-beryllium (official) WebSite
Validus-beryllium-9.RC.6.2-Official-20190822-0927 AndroidFileHost

after downloading all of this, follow the wipe method above and :
1- install the firmware.
2-install the rom.
3-install gapps.
4-install disable force encryption
5-format data and type yes.
5-reboot into system and reboot to recovery.
6-install magisk debug and reboot into system and reboot to recovery.
7-install the kernel and reboot to system.
8-install all of your apps and customize your rom as you wish.
9- when finished reboot to recovery and take a nandroid backup : system - data - boot and when finished take to a safe place eg: sd card
10- full wipe method again and reboot and restore your backup .
after this i never had a ghost touch issue or touch freeze.
and don't forget to take a backup of your pictures/downloads because they well be erased.

I tried but it's not possible to put external links because i'm new in xda

Complete wipe will help for a while but your ghost and freezes will come back after couple of days / weeks for sure

You can take a nandroid backup and full wipe whenever you have ghost touch issue, but i think it is not because after i did a full wipe and install the rom i still had the issue.

does the split mode works here and simultaneously? i tried some roms but split mode never works the same as miui.

I'm trying this version now. As of now it's smooth and the multitouch is gone, I'm using fts panel too and will observe in a few days using this ROM.
When I first flash this I tried to tweak the status bar notification and then my phone was stuck in boot loop. I flash it again and this time I won't mess up with the status bar and observe if the multitouch/ghost touch will come back in few days.

My Poco F1 also has FTS_TS panel. Running Resurrection Remix with Malakas kernel i had terrible touchscreen issues, sometimes i was unable to use my phone for 30-40 seconds. BUT! After flashing Seshstation kernel (65Hz pack) all problems gone!.

1-install the rom cosmic without gapps (just the rom and boot it) after returning to recovery and doing a backyp of the vendor

3- the rom must start but the camera or the sim card does not work, after starting the Rom return to recovery restore the backup of the cosmic vendor and restart the system, at startup the sim card must work
4-after the rom starts restarting the fix camera in recovery and flash and restarting the camera should work maybe it takes a moment for the camera to work (remember to mount system and vendor)
5-now we are going to install the Gapps download the most recent ones I use the nano we are going to recovery and flash the gapps and restart
6-Finally flash the magisk phh (optional) should use this magisk if they use another one does not start the rom, just restart and flash magisk phh and restart

The newer kernel (boot)

You can flash roms A/B with XPerience 13 as vendor it boots but you have broken Ril and camera
system-quack-arm64-ab-vanilla.img was tested and works

I tried this method and it's working very well, except that UI is flickering on all GSI's and for ION System UI is crashing.
For example Google Play's left menu, Kernel Adiutor Menu or Firefox tabs list have bugged background and it's switching constantly between black and white theme.

set 650mhz the GPU it should help and the main problem is the older Adreno libs from android 8.0

It's not working, it's not the same problem as in Xperience, beacuse some elements is not rendering in interface.
I will post a video of that.

After digging on xda for fixes, I made a StagOS working perfectly.
Performance as on XPE or even better, Bluetooth working ( audio too ), no UI lags or glitches, nfc working, autobrightness. I haven't seen any bug.
Tell me if I should make a full list of my steps, cause it's quite long

Hi @Sbodezzi, I work for AFH and just stumbled on your post. I checked several of the files in the folder the OP linked to and they all seem to have multiple mirrors available. Can you elaborate as to which specific file you are trying to download so I can look into it? Thanks!
