I was recently told that there is an app that tracks any phone using the mobile number.
Apparently you dont need it installed on the phone your tracking all you need is to know their mobile phone number.
Is this even possible?
Can anyone tell me if this person is talking out of their A$$ or if this app ever existed? because it would be amazingly helpful in finding an Optimus G that was recently stolen from me. (I know who has it and know the # associated with their sim.)
If you can confirm this, can you also provide a link for download please? many thanks.
EDIT: I never wrote down my IMEI or serial #.. so Im kind of hooped.. Is there anyway to push an app to someone elses phone? or someway I can get this dealt with that I may not have thought of yet? My carrier has no log of the phone because I didnt buy it through them.

You can track a mobile using ANDROID DEVICE MANAGER which is pre-installed in mobiles if the play store gets updated.
ANDROID DEVICE MANAGER can be accessed through
SETTINGS --> SECURITY --> DEVICE ADMINISTRATORS
Once you activate ANDROID DEVICE MANAGER, you can track your mobile, erase datas from your lost mobile by logging in to ANDROID DEVICE MANAGER in a web browser by giving the email id and password which you used in your mobile.
However i dont recognize any app that tracks a mobile using IMEI number..

I'd be very very careful with apps advertized having this feature.
In theory, the mobile provider can track your phone, because they issued the SIM and phone number to you. But the providers don't supply this information to anyone but law enforcement/NSA/other three letter agency. Imagine the stalking possibilities...
Why I'd be very careful (as in: not downloading and installing at all...) about this is, that I've seen websites advertizing this service, and when you enter a phone number, you're asked to download and run an exe file. It probably won't work but infect your computer with malware.
I doubt it's any different with android apps.
If you install a tracking app on your phone yourself that reports to somewhere (e.g. google device tracking, "lost my iphone"), that's a whole different situation - you're voluntary giving your position to someone to keep, and that's sensor data acquired from your phone.
The truth
Everyone needs to know the truth that is sometimes hidden behind the most deceptive appearances. Everyone, too, needs to be certain of the sincerity of their relatives...
SpyBubble is likely to become the best smartphone application for that => phoneservicetracker.com

I don't think tracking a phone using the mobile number is possible for consumers, if you lodge a police complaint they may go through your mobile carrier and then track it (depending on how much effort the police in your country put in for a lost phone). But if you know who stole it and their phone number that's a good enough basis to talk to the cops, you're going to need some proof of purchase of the phone though...
Just in case the guy hasn't wiped the phone and one of your accounts is still active on it, you can push apps through that account on Google Play by going to the Google Play website on your pc and logging in with that account. Then you can push one of many tracking apps and figure out where your phone is. My personal favourite is an app called 'android lost' through which you can do the usual - track, wipe, ring, vibrate etc but you can also access the mic and the cameras.
Also, you can maybe play it smart with some social engineering. Get a girl to call up the guy and ask him out at some place and you'll find him there!
do u got a way for the Iphone too?

As if they'd keep the original number? Can't call if the number has been changed.

Hi,
just purchased this phone in UK and have noticed these problems in contacts:
I get this problem when receiving calls and viewing contacts, when I go into a contact it says contact name example:
'John Smith'
Mobile/Home 'Unknown City' Image below:
or
'John Smith'
Mobile/Home 'Chinese characters' like below: (please see images below)
when I try to edit a contact or create a new one there is no field about city or area location. When I receive a call it shows the contact name or number accompanied by either of the above.
There's not any option as far as I know to contact Lenovo support for smartphones, I've posted on Lenovo community awaiting response but thought I'd give this forum a try.
please can someone give me advice on this matter? This is great phone, I'd like to get this problem resolved if possible and don't want to return unless really necessary.
my rom version detail is: Baseband Version A850+. V1, 2014/01/22 19.57 Build number A850+_S118_140226
thanks in advance.
Seems like your contact apk is different form mine... which version of Idealfriend are you using?
I have some ways/solutions for your problems:
- If you have a google account conected, synchronize your contacts and then you can edit them online from here.
- Export your contacts to your SD open them with notepad in your PC and edit the contacts (the pattern/code is easy).
- Change Idealfriends with an other version (you can find a version here), back up your old version first
I hope you solve your problems...

Thanks very much for taking time to reply but I have sent the phone back to seller, I believe the contacts application should work without my having to make the helpful modifications you advise. It's very unfortunate because apart from the appalling Lenovo contact manager, this phone is very awesome.
The phone had an updated version V3.0.286140630.c6ec4eb_hdpi installed, which when I updated thought would resolve the issues but in fact it made matters worse than original.
The version you recommend also has problems with caller id which is one of the other problems I was experiencing, I was prepared to live with that problem but not those being experienced with my car kit.

The solution is in a bit of delay, but may help others.
Go to: Contacts > Settings > Location , Now press the settings button (The one that looks like a list beyond the screen), Settings > Disable all .
Hope that helps.

Well he has an exact same phone as me, A850 CN (probably, looking forward to install TWRP on mine after getting a good feedback).
I don't know about the location thing but the chinese-ish contacts, I have to bear with it.

I was using Galaxy S4 before switching to OnePlus. I have blacklisted several annoying telemarketer phone numbers using the "blacklist" feature available on CyanogenMod.
How do I bring those over to OnePlus so that I do not need to start over again?
Isn't this feature built in? It should be under Settings -> Privacy -> Blacklist... I'm on a custom rOM so the option may be hiding in one of the menus. The feature is there though.

The feature is there. My question is, I have blacklisted a bunch of phone numbers on my old phone. I do not want to restart that process all over again with OnePlus.
For example, if I had already blacklisted a number, lets say XXX-XXX-XXXX. When I start using OnePlus, that caller will still be able to call me as that number won't be in the blacklisted numbers on OnePlus
If I am missing something please let me know.

You'd have to manually add those numbers in to be blocked. The method you're blocking their numbers is done by software, not by carrier.

I know it is done by software. That information is already stored somewhere on my Galaxy S4. My question - is there a way to export these numbers and then import them in the Blacklist on OnePlus. Please let me know even if it means me manually exporting/importing those numbers. I do not know where they are stored else I would have tried it.

No there is no way to export/import them using the stock Blacklist. Insert them manually as I mentioned previously.
If you have a lot of numbers blocked, maybe its time for you to change your number.

Well I guess in that case, you should be able to carry it from ROM to ROM on your Galaxy S4 as well. For example, if you went from 1 ROM to the next ROM, you'd be asking yourself the same question. Could I export/import blacklisted numbers?
Alternatively, you can use a app to "block" numbers which will carry the data over. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mrnumber.blocker is one of them.
The Cyanogen profile will transfer the list automatically.
I've scoured the interwebs and found nothing of use so I was hoping someone here could point me in the right direction. I started using the native OnePlus Notes app when I got my OP6T. All my notes managed to survive every time I flashed back and from from the T-Mobile to international OP6T. They even survived the transfer to the OP7 Pro (TMO variant). However... now that I have switched to the international OP7 Pro, I can't seem to recover my notes at all. The .xml file is there but the actual data isn't making it's way into the Notes app.
All my notes on world domination are locked away in an xml file that sucks to comb through. Any help will be more than appreciated and I promise to spare anyone that helps from the pending doom.
Yes... I could have just used Google Keep or Evernotes or something but that would have been too easy.
maybe the international version uses a different file name? just create a new note in the international version and check out if a new xml-file has been created... if so, overwrite this xml-file with the one containing your notes and voila, your notes are there (and I'm spared from the pending doom)

Thanks. I actually tried that without success after I posted and through your efforts, you will be spared. Perhaps I'm looking for the wrong thing. Maybe it's not saved as an xml? I also connected my phone to my PC and searched for hidden files. I created a file on OnePlus Notes and searched for that. I checked every folder with the word "note" in its name all with no luck.

Hello guys!
Recently I bought Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. BUT there is no way that I can record calls. I'm from Bulgaria and it is some kind of regulation crap. I mean when I go to the options in the dialer app the option for call recordings is not present at all.
Most of my calls are for work with tons of instructions about this and that and I take them either from the car or somewhere without access to notes and pens etc. On my previous phone I found an app that enebled native call recording without rooting somehow... It was P30 Pro and the app in question I found here in XDA. However for my new phone I can't find anything... I tried all of the free and paid Google Play apps but they record only me and nothing from the person I'm talking with... Help me please!!!
Somewhere I read that I need to change the CSC code. Whatever it means... No idea how tho... Other thing I read was to root the phone. I've never done that as well... Basically I'm thinking of going to some randome phone repair shop and ask them to find me a solution whatever it takes... But first I decided to ask here.
If you have any idea what to do please include some instructions for dumb people like me with no experience in fiddling with phones etc..
Big thanks in advance!
I should probably tell you that I've tried this
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...cord-phone-calls-from-the-phone-line.1441643/
And lots of things that are already written here as suggestions but... nothing....
I am trying out CallApp Contacts. So far it seems to work for 2 way recording. I am in the US and we do not have call recording here.
First of, do you know your phone model and CSC code? You should be able to spot it in Settings ->About phone -> Software information under Build number and Service provider software information.
Samsung only activates native call recording on the India firmware, so you will probably have to download that version of the firmware.
Do you still have said old phone (P30 Pro) & the download for the app on it?
Just asking cause you could send the app to your S22 from the other phone...

Following your steps I found this - oxm eux. That is it right?
About the firmware - do you know how I would do that? I mean how to download and install the indian version? Would that affect the warranty or anything important?

Yes I still have the app. I tried to install it but it returns some error. I'll attach a screenshot here.
In my previous phone Xiaomi Mi11 Ultra, TruePhone app work perfectly with call record's, but now with Samsung S22 Ultra and Android 12 don't work.
For me also call record's is very important, but i don't have the time and experience to change regions with Sammobile to make the call records work.
I am also from Bulgaria and have tried most of the available recording offers.
Her are some options
Non Root :
Change CSC. You needs paid tool, search SamKey and you will find lots result on XDA. This option is OK if you don't want to root but here your CSC will needs to change and network optimization won't be same as your own CSC
Root :
Modify CSC and enable call record, bit difficult if you are not pro witn modding
Use a ROM with Auto call record option (check development section)

Thanks for the suggestion! Maybe will try to do that... But can you give me some more info about what it means that network optimization won't be the same as my own CSC? Does that mean that I'm gonna lose connection here and there or some kind of fees?
Also how this change of the CSC code is going to affect my warranty?
csc change will void your warranty, and yes it is possible that your call, internet connection over mobile data may not be as good as it was/is on your current csc, but not a guarantee, you should check to find out if your prepared to sacrifice warranty for call recording, you could always reflash your original firmware

Well... The essentials of my work is talking on the phone and usually that includes tasks that I need to do with all of the details about them. We are working on communicating through e-mail but we are not there yet. The warranty is not that big of a concern but potential problems with the reception etc ... now that scares me...
Thanks for your time! I'll think about it... If you come up with something that is less risky please share!
My phone doesn't have call recording in the call app, but I just tried this one after some research, configured it, and made a call and it works
If this app ain't available in your country you could try an "index of" search or I can pull and upload the apk for you
