Hey,
I modded a little script from the S6 that's meant to change boot image (to an apple one for now). It should work, but it's untested. If someone does decide to test, can you let me know if it works. (also if it does work, I'll make different boot images if you want, I guess ask me).
Thanks :good:

Hi.
I was wondering if someone way more knowledgeable than me can help change the battery icon in the notification bar. I want to change it to plain and system white one to match the rest of the icons.
I am rooted, with stock 2.2 from Verizon. I was looking through it and Metamorph seemed to be the easiest way, but I just tried it and I needed to do an backup restore. I don't know much about Roms or anything advance when it comes to modding, but hopefully someone will be patient with me. =] Thanks in advance!
First off, dont use the B word unless yout to the point where nothing you can think of doing will get your device to power on / be usable.
second, to change your battery you must first load a rom that has been deodexed, otherwise the system wont be able to use the file you modify to change the appearance of the battery.
there are roms out there that are stock aside from being deodexed, so you wont loose anything, but you may as well look into using a rom that has the bloatware removed (things like vznav and cityID)
after you have a rom loaded that can handle the batter icon change, then you should be able to use the metamorph theme or a theme that is flashable through clockwork mod recovery
i hope this post has been helpful

It was very helpful, thank you so much. I added a custom rom and it worked.
So I've been Googling and Googling, but can't find anything on how to implement sounds within CM11 Theme-compatible Boot Animations; is it possible, and do any ROMs for the OnePlus One even support it??
I've tried even circumventing the CM11 Theme Engine completely and just added a line into the desc.txt file to see the OGG file in system/media, but all to no avail.
Any insight into this would be GREATLY appreciated!! I'm trying to see if I can get this to work in this boot animation, and there is surprisingly little current documentation on this that I could find.
So nothing then I guess? Has anyone found anything on this at all?
Did you try to edit build.prop
There a line that disable boot sound change it from 1 to 0 or the upside I don't know exactly

Thanks for providing some info Madkita!
I did see that option, but I was hoping for a more universally usable option, like something that could be loaded in any ROM with an APK, and without a root hack for those not rooted. I think it might just not be possible that way, so I'll have to abandon this after all.
Could you just add a apk file or make a boot animation with it included?
- Samsung Galaxy Ace ii-x CM 4.4.4.
- Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime 5.1
- Samsung S2 CM 12.1
- Nexus 5 5.1
- Nexus 7 5.2
- LG L5 4.1
- LG P690B 2.3.4.
- HTC One

It would have to be an APK file for that to work, or maybe an installer ZIP like the one I use for my ctOS Boot Animation.
Either way, the boot sound file is named differently across ROMs, so without creating a script to figure out if the ROM supports it and what the subsequent file is named, I'm really not sure how to best do this.
That being said, if anyone has any ideas of how best to universally implement something like this, I'm all ears! And if anyone wants to take a stab at compiling something for my ctOS Boot Animation, I'll happily put up a bounty of $20 for the first person who can make a CM11/CM12 boot animation sound work across all devices.
Hello fellow XDA friends! I am an extreme fan of Roboto Condensed and ALWAYS keep a zip of the font to replace my entire system UI. So if you are anal about your phone having consistent fonts, being Roboto Condensed, this is the zip for you! As always MAKE A BACKUP before flash even though I of course have flashed this multiple times every time I flash a ROM and have never had any issues with it. I do not have a revert to stock zip so PLEASE, AGAIN, MAKE A BACKUP, JUST, IN, CASE! I hope you enjoy!
Credits to this who create flashable zip files for me to use as a template to use for each device I am using.
Thanks to everyone who has helped me on XDA with not only fonts, but various tasks here and there and to those who press Thanks if you enjoy the upload :silly:
To fix the [X] in your lock screen clock problem you can flash this: http://www.mediafire.com/download/bt2hz0t6osbghy5/Font_DejavuFonts1.zip

THESE ARE FLASHABLE ZIP FILES - YOU DO NEED ROOT W/ A CUSTOM RECOVERY TO FLASH
I originally created the zips for the Nexus 6P, though I own a 5X too so I figured it deserved the same love and attention! So if this thread looks familiar, it's because it is almost identicle to my N6P thread :silly:
For more fonts you can check out my Nexus6P thread in my signature - the same zips should all work
Great work! But I noticed an error when using bariol on the lockscreen. It doesn't see the ":" symbol. Screen is attached.
Edit: found more.

I had a couple people report that on the 6P as well, though I can not replicate it and it's driving me nuts! Some people are saying it works fine, others get that [X]. I have flashed it on stock, custom AOSP, and custom stock ROMs and not had that happen. I even checked into the font files and made sure each had the colon symbol in the font styles. I am still looking into and it will be fixed! If anybody has any idea I am open to suggestions and it would be greatly appreciated - at any rate, I'm glad you like the font - I will add more as I compile the zips in my spare time and I will get to the bottom of this [X] fiasco

Not sure either. But it could be because I'm not on stock. I'm on purenexus.
does anyone know if something like this would break android pay? i'm not rooted but do have custom recovery installed...
edit, just re-read this - why would we need root if we're flashing in recovery? for example, I edited my build.prop file to allow for tethering without issue and I didn't need to root the phone

The "root" the OP is suggesting you need is definitely not required. However you are root when in TWRP. Otherwise you would run into permission problems when trying to flash something.
Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
Confirmed it does not break Android pay. Just flashed it and everything seems to be working fine.
Can I make a zip like this for any font? Just swap out what's inside?
Hi, thanks for the fonts!
Is the stock.zip applicable on N Preview also?

May I request NOTO font? https://www.google.com/get/noto/
Ok so i found something on Lollipop & Marshmallow i figured i'd share with you all.
Do you want the fastest possible Boot Animation?
Do you care really what it looks like?
IF the answer is YES & NO i have the solution for you
It's called the default android boot animation !
It is the word Android spelled out in pulsing white with the newer droid font.
It's the full width of the screen with a black background.
And i noticed it made my phone seem like it was booting faster :good:
So..
How do i get it?
You need root access and you can probably choose what method you want to do it..
The basic idea is to go and rename or remove the BootloaderAnimation.zip
I chose to use RootExplorer to go in and rename the file.
But i bet TWRP or other ways would work too.
Go here.. /System/Media/bootanimation.zip
The newest Marshmallow Animation is almost 10mb so killing it i think does help it boot faster.
Enjoy your NO BootAnimation
I think you can fully disable bootanimation with this command:
debug.sf.nobootanimation=1

in build prop. After that it should fully disable bootanimation (there will be only black screen) but I'm not sure about it because last time I was using this on Android 2.3 but you can give it a try, imo it should work.

Thanks that is interesting got me poking around with the adb console then google.
[Android 2.1+][25.08.2012][v3.0] live dmesg / logcat boot animations [ROOT]
Google that WTF LOL
I also seen some guys who made a BootAnimation that emulates the PC Bios boot ..cool !
I guess i am veering off topic but i didn't know about alternate options.
But this topic had guys discussing your command if people are interested..

worked smootly on Moto E 2015 -resurrection-remix-v5-8-0-t3509463 (Android N 7.1_r7)
(even faster than just rename the bootlogo.zip)
I remember coming across this before in 5.1. Yes it made it faster but, it just looks plain and boring.
BootAnimations CreatorSimplicity.
What is this? This is a simple Python script that turns an ffmpeg-supported video into a boot animation. Soon it will also pickup PNG series.
Why was this created?
Why was this created?I didn't discover any tools that would do this, so I decided to make one.
How can I use it?Go to https://github.com/MajliTech/bootanimation-creator and check on Releases to download the newest version.
Why is it still in prerelease?Since I don't have a phone to test this on. My Xiaomi Note 11 is my main phone so I don't want to brick it. However any testers are welcome!
Not a bad idea, but a more useful thing would be a desktop bootanimation previewer.
I might make one, but my boot animation is really boring anyway (and low overhead).
I also thought about this, but the boot animation format is still kinda too confusing for me. I may make a tool like this in the future, but for now this is what I got.
@MajliTech Could you post a sample of a boot animation that this generates? (Any res, any theme.)
Here's the sample.

Nope. It's what I thought. That is not going to work. Your zip file uses compression. It will fail.

Note that the ZIP archive is not actually compressed!

It's a stupid gotcha. Nothing in bootanimation.zip can be compressed (beyond the original PNG compression).

@MajliTech So, did your patch from January 9 fix the compression issue?
