Hi,
I'm new to xda and have just bought H8. Really excited and happy about this phone. :good:
I have one question. I had Honor 5x before and it had a feature where I can assign a particular finger print to a shortcut. For example unlocking with my index finger would do a direct call to my home.
I don't see this feature in H8. I searched everywhere in settings including the smart key but of no help.
Any pointers? I really miss this nifty feature...
Hi, H8 doesn't have this feature, you can only answer call with fingerprint.

Thanks. Is there any other way around this. I am sure someone must have found out a way.
It was such a blessing in my Honor 5x.

What Android version do you have now? If I'm not mistaken, that feature was only present in EMUI 4.
Never saw it on my honor 8, just use the button as a shortcut

Emui 4.1 Android 6.0
I think it's not present on honor 8 due to that fps doubles as a button

Then I'm mistaken. Most probably Huawei removed it to compensate for the smart key.
Sent from my Honor 8 using XDA Labs
I think this feature wasn't available on Honor 8 even with Android 6.

Why not assign double click a smartkey to an app .
A triple click too ?
Is there triple click?!

Thanks. Double click on smart key can only open an app. But what I'm looking for is to assign a 'direct call' shortcut to it.

Well i found the same . Sorry OP . No more answers left
Found a way finally. This app can create shortcuts as individual apps. The shortcuts show up individually in your app drawer which means you can assign them as smart key functions! So now I can call my home with a single press of the smart key... :good:

Hi,
I modified existing navbar enabler to make compatible with LineageOS and make capacitive button disable.
Just use Magisk to install it.

It works fine... It will be even more nicer if you add pixel animations too.. :good:
Hey, honest meant question: Why would you need an onscreen navbar when you have the buttons? Is it configurable in some way?

Because it is supposed to have the on screen nav bar in the first place. Also, the back and app switch buttons on the soft keys are placed incorrect. I find it hard to use the soft keys because I am used to the original placement of the buttons which is back on the left and app switch on the right.
Does this module works with stock Oreo (Feb security patch) ?
the dev has added support to enable navbar from settings itself, with customization.
Any reasons why people use mods/hacks to disable the navbar permanently? Samsung offers the option to do so, but why u have to disable it permanently?
Gestures navigation is not that smooth & u have to use an app.
Is there any benefits or something I'm missing?

I do it so I dont have to look at it
Its always white when i want it black and black when I want it white
Lol That's pretty funny tbh:laugh:
You have this big beautiful touch screen, why do I want to take up space on the screen (or have it appear/disappear) every time I want to navigate or go to the home screen? I use Gesture Control so that I just have to swipe left/right/up at the bottom and never have to see it...
Looks better and is really cool to have the whole screen.... navigation gestures works pretty well.
It's quite simple really, you get more screen real estate and you don't need to look at the ugly navbar.

I tried the xda navigation gestures & the fullscreen view is pretty awesome tbh.
How did u hide the navigation bar & what gesture app/mod do u use please? I want something a little smoother than the xda gesture app.
I'm on Alexis 5.3 rom.

I used to use plasmalite and it was awesome, unfortunately stopped working well under Oreo and it never got updated. Now I use XDA gestures, which is pretty OK, in some aspects better than plasmalite.

Xda gestures works great especially the split pill giving additional swipes. I have some very minor delays with it though, but I can live with it. OnePlus gestures is the best so far, but it's paid.
I tried out XDA's Navigation Gestures (paid version) but find Samsung's One Hand Operation+ more enjoyable.
From the edge screen I simply swipe left to go back, to open recents I swipe up diagonally from the same place and to go home I just press the home button.

Many thanks! I find it smoother than xda gestures, but it doesn't work in landscape mode & immersive games
Hi, I have an op6 and the gestures app. The issue is that every time you open an app full screen (a game for example or a call), returning for example to whatsapp and open the keyboard stops working the app (only when I have the keyboard displayed).
Any solution?
Thank you!

Hello everybody!
I've the Unofficial PixelExperience P GSI on my Mi A2 Lite, but there was only the normal navigation bar, which we already know from the official Android 8-Stock Rom. So I searched for a possibility to use the Pixel navigation.
I found an official XDA-article about this navigation feature for the OnePlus 6, so I tried it on my Mi A2 Lite and it works!!
The only thing to do is, that you have to enable "USB-Debugging" in the developer options. And make sure that you allow the ADB-connection on your phone. Than you must run this command in ADB on your computer:
adb shell settings put secure swipe_up_to_switch_apps_enabled 1
If you did this you can close ADB and remove your phone from the computer.
If you want more information about this, here's the official article: https://www.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6-google-pixel-gestures-android-p/
It works perfectly for me, so I think it should also works for you. I don't know if it works also for other Roms (GSIs) or the Stock Rom, but maybe somebody can test it
I hope you like my little "guide"!
- and sorry for my bad englisch
good guide sir
but if you like navigation gestures you should really check out this app 'fluid navigation gestures' in play store:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fb.fluid
i think its better then Pie navigation because you can hide navigation bar and have 100% fullscreen
Are you serious?... You can go to setting, gesture and turn the new navigation bar on....

No, because I haven't this setting
There are 2 Bugs with this solution.
1. After every restart you have to enable the bar again.
2. If the NavBar Background changes from black to white you won't see the 3 buttons again which is pretty annoying.

I confirm that this is a better solution. I'm using this. The gestures are similar to MIUI. No Root, no Bootloader unlocked, only one line of code to hide the navigation bar.
