Can Droid RAZR HD Livestream? - RAZR HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I have a few of these awesome phone lying around. They have an HD camera and a microHDMI out. Does anyone know how to stream the camera live to a linux laptop? I don't want to use an app and stream via WiFi. I want to wire the phone directly to the laptop and use it like a webcam.
Thanks!

I was wondering if anyone has a way to stream video to a projector via a g tablet? I don't have a dock yet but am interested in sending video such as a powerpoint or the current screen to a projector using either bluetooth or wifi.

I was able to get the HDMI from the dock to a M1-DA to HDMI converter (http://homeavcables.com/m1hdmi-mf.html). Picture quality was good (good enough for a nearly 10 year old projector with limited lumens) for using with powerpoint. I did a limited test with a video (both streamed from my network and and on the gtablet) that was fine. Not sure if the audio came through but I could test that again (I have some Cambridge SoundWorks small cube speaker and subwoofer that connects via headphone jack that works pretty well. Speakers on LP70 are marginal at best).
Again YMMV, but since this is a "digital" projector, perhaps that is where I had success. https://portal.infocus.com/support/Product Pages/overview.aspx?mic=LP70&on=overview

Use the 4 other sources of netflix streaming available. We can't with this phone.
A WiFi TV
Blueray player
Xbox /PS 3/Wii
IPad with the Apple tv out cables.

cdordon is correct, but I wanted to add a little more detail about why this isn't possible.
Unless a phone has direct video out, like micro HDMI the only way to have video out is through MHL. For MHL you need MHL capabilities in your phone, a micro USB port (who doesn't have one nowadays?) and an MHL adapter that outputs HDMI. You can buy MHL adapters but our phone doesn't have an MHL chip. I'm pretty sure it came out before they were available.
wouldn't there be a way to stream the video over wifi tho ? i don't think the phone could handle upload and download @ same time trying to stream netflix to the phone and back to the tv but, if you had the movie on a SD card i don't see why you couldn't stream it to the tv

Can I turn my HD into a monitor via hdmi?

Hey I'm just wondering if it is possible in anyway to turn my phone into a monitor for my raspberry pi? Is there like an app that let's me plug it in thru the hdmi but instead of being an output on the phone have it be a input like a typical monitor?

While I don't know this for certain, I believe HDMI is not bi-directional connections for video. Meaning, the RazrHD hdmi port outputs video only.
Can I use teamview or anything similar to remotely control?

Old Smart phone

I have a Samsung Infuse, screen broke, don't want to thorw a way, is there a way that I can turn into something like this. I would like to use the benifits of its wifi as well. Is it possible or a ROM available that would allow me to connect via my USB port on my TV?
You can give it to me, I'll really appreciate it.
It really depends on the software and what's available. If it has HDMI/MHL video out and OTG USB support... then yea.

The Infuse 4g supports MHL so yeah you can turn it into a Android mini-pc.
Check out youtube for some Infuse/MHL videos.
Buy a MHL adapter that also has an input for external power cause most TVs don't have power over HDMI/MHL
Old phone as android stick
I have several old android phones (2 unrooted, HTC EVO 4Gs and a Samsung Replenish) lying around and want to use them as android mini sticks for my TVs. I'd be using them moslty for streaming video/audio (Netflix, Pandora, YouTube, etc) and checking email, social media, etc.
This brings up a few questions:
1. How do I power it since it only has a mini HDMI port? My TV's HDMI does not provide power. Is there splitter available that will let me plug into the wall and to my TV from the mini HDMI?
2. Do I need special software on the old phone?
3. Can I use another android device as a remote control (via wifi) or do I need to get a fly-mouse or something? I'd prefer using my current android phone or tablet.
I realize that the sticks out there are cheap and more powerful than my old phone, but...why not give this a try?

Something with a HDMI port is ideal so the Evo 4G would make a great TV stick device. You should be able to use a USB charger and have the HDMI plugged in all at the same time. Thats what I do with my old Droid 3 which has the same ports.
There are apps out there that can let you control one device from another, you may need to be rooted though IIRC.
