Hello Ladies & Gentleman...
Long Time No Chat With.. My XRN5-AI has been doing quite well Stock-Rooted.. So, there has not been much for me to say here..
But.....
The Redmi Note 7 Pro is in the pipe!
And.. It looks SHARP..
Circle Notch
Snapdragon 660
48 MP Camera
USB-C
Hold The Price Point... and I'm sure it will be a winner.. Anyway check out one of the 1st Videos on UTube right here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nS7gkeZKxYs
Meh, I'm happy with Note 5 and plus don't like notch phones.
notch part is a no no for me. ill pass
Let's wait for camera tests
Well I don't find any Good reason to upgrade to Redmi Note 7
It's still more of a incremental upgrade, SD660 & SD636 are basically same except for lower clock speeds and GPU. And in my daily usage it works great. Battery is capacity is same in both and it runs easily for a day with heavy usage.
I am ok with the 18:9 display with bezels than jump on the Notch trend. And for the Camera, with Arnova Gcam and some patches (nHappyman/BBD) it takes great shots in daylight. Glass back is premium, but metal body of RN5 isn't bad either. It's not even a year since RN5 launched here, still in warranty.
Only great thing to upgrade will be USB C and DAC.
And Where else will I get such Great Development for a Phone with almost all toms available & Thug Devs ?
Not Really..

You Sound Happy...
You Also Sound Like Someone Who Just Invested Their Money In The Note 5..
I Agree.. It's a GREAT phone... For It's Time..
But.... Said To Say.... It is now a " 2 Generation Old Phone*....
My plan was.. to sell mine. ( Upgrade Cash Almost There..) But now, I'm just going to throw it in a cabinet ( A 4/64 I bought new for $199.00 USD )
Because Resale Value only nets about $0.55 Cents-To-A-$1.00 (USD) and being 2 Generations Old.. The Resale Value is only going to Decrease.
You use the term "Incremental Upgrades"... That's Pretty Much What All Models Do...
And Development Will Be Just As Strong... This is not the Note 6.. That, was / is a B.S. device IMO... Nothing was done except to add a 2nd sensor and a notch..
The Note 7 is that Leap Forward.. to compete with the growing "Bang For Your Buck" devices coming in waves in the Midrange/ Upper Midrange Segment.
Huawei 8x.. Samsung M10 / M20.. Asus Pro M2... Realme 2... Lenovo Z5 Pro... all have to watch out for the Redmi Note 7 Pro / AI
This one's specs indeed raise the bar.. :victory:

Although you're not wrong, but what I feel is, if you gotta upgrade, upgrade to something in the SD8XX range, whether 845/855. There's not really much point in jumping from a mid-ranger to mid-ranger device. You'd never really feel much of a difference in performance except in build quality ofcourse.

You're Entitled To Your Opinion...
And.. I Respect That.
But, let me give you an example...
I'm very fortunate to have a fairly late model Toyota 4-Door Sedan paid off in full.
Does that mean in 2020 when I plan on buying my next vehicle.. I should "Upgrade" to something more Expensive? Faster? because it needs to be a more powerful V-6 than the 301 horsepower V-6 I currently have?
Or.. can I move up because I like the way the newer model looks? or the Technology that it possesses? Even though the power may be the same or slightly better..
How About Value?
That's important.. right?
At what point do you move on from something when you are getting diminishing value... does the Note 5 Pro / AI still do the job? Yes. Does My Toyota still get me where I need to go? Yes.
But that does not mean if I have the means.. I would not buy another equal model that has been updated with better specs / options..
That applies to my Toyota and my Redmi device. :victory:
I will keep my device as long as 5G network establish everywhere like 4G network
Better buy Oneplus or Huawei

Not really same category.. You are talking here 200usd vs 500usd.. then better buy pixel, or mate 20 pro for 1000usd + with this logic..Also huaweii is really shady and dont allow bootloader unlock anymore, so for a lot of people here its not an option.
No Shame There..

Yeah Buddy..
I can't blame you there.
There is not a thing wrong with the XRN5 Pro / AI.. ESPECIALLY running Stock.. Batterylife is just amazing... I can't kill it in a day.
I'm still on 9.5.17... and will NEVER leave it as long as I use this device.. I am rooted for a couple of apps and TWRP for backup but that's it.
After seeing the "Hole Punch" trend that is going to the 2019 thing to do.. I'm not impressed.
So, for me an upgrade has been narrowed down to the One Plus 7 or Mi Mix 3s , 4, 3+... whatever they are going to call their Snapdragon 855 version.
I 'll keep the XRN5-AI in it's box.. and use it for those wild nights in the streets...
For me I think it is too early to jump to redmi note 7 from Redmi note 5 ai.
2019 is the year of 'midrange smartphones 3rd World War' we just have to see the war unfold till 2nd or 3rd quarter before leaving RN5 for another midrange phone.
The major con with waiting is resell value! If you sell your RN5 now, you will make more money than selling it in the next 3 months with tons of midrange flooding the market.
Anyways, that's not a problem for me, I have a trick of selling my smartphones costlier than I bought them but that trick requires patience.... ?
Major Pros
RN5 can match most midrange phones in real life usage.
If you hate notches RN5 is added bonus and I hate notches even the punch hole ?
With Pixel 3 GCAM working already you won't miss much on photo aspect.
Conclusion:
If you intend to sell your own RN5 and you love notches do it now!
If you so can't live with notch keep your RN5 and wait a little... Better things than Redmi Note 7 can be ahead...
If you want to move from midrange to flagship the answer is wait too!
USB type C is good but isn't a deal breaker for me, my OTG drive is still micro USB but an adapter can solve the problem
The phone itself looks gimmicky. But i will give it a try, hopefully a review will come out first.
Note 7 Pro is Snapdragon 675
For me not interesting, I have my Redmi Note 5 just for 2 and a half months now and I usually use a new phone for at least 2 years. And I'm totally satisfied with this phone.

Me too. But if its really a big jump I mean hardware, photos, etc... Why not?
Because Note 6 compare to 5, not worth it at all.

Yeah maybe, but for me, be it a normal Notch or a waterdrop Notch, that is an downgrade for me, since I'm a total Notch Hater/avoider. And USB-Type C is not an must have for me either, since I not owned a single USB C Device ever.

hi, my nexus 4 is aging and i need new one ! it has so many problems
also i asked on the sticky thread, i waited long but got no answer !
I have been away from phone stuff for long, so im not good enough to decide myself. Here are what thought of and i can't decide between them:
1.Nexus 6
2.Note 4 sounds intresting but i kinda feel im gonna hate it after buying it. and i had So many bad memories from Samsung!
3.waiting for new Z ultra
4.Waiting for 810 SoC. this way i get 64-bit , not sure if that means i get some new apps or it makes no difference !
this year was so boring, nothing special(in hardware) but buying stuff like g2 makes me mad ! i want new device i didn't try hard to wait a year only to find out i should have done it long ago
but i saw 805 and 810 have some special capabilities ! (in rendering and graphics) also 810 has some stuff like ultrasonic pen and blablabla , so thats what made me want to wait!
here what i do with phone:
1. Root it
2. Play games
3. Watch movies in it
4. Mostly browse web google stuff check xda for news ect
5. I really really really care about screen quality, but anything more than 450ppi is pointless for me!
6. I want a large device ! larger is better
7. My nexus 4 battery is only a little small for me
8. I [Almost] keep it till it dies
9. As long as its really worth it i can pay, but im saving money for future!
10. I don't care about camera at all! I take no pictures !
11. I need OTG!
Can you guys recommend me some phones with my needs? should i wait? or buy nexus 6, or any other device that i didn't mention?
what will the benefits of waiting for 64-bit be? what devices will feature Snap 810?
oh and One M8 has an old SoC (but lower res, so performance is not much different, but i see 805 has some special game rendering capabilities)
Sewrizer said:
If you don't care about the camera, the Nexus 6 is the better choice. It has a great screen and stereo speakers, thus great gaming and movie experience. The battery is quite good as well, especially with the fast charge feature out of the box.

so nexus 6 is my main choice for now
what about waiting for 64-bit snap810?
and btw, can you quote me so i get email? now it sounds like i had answers but didn't get notifications
Edit: I don't care about the camera but i heard its actually pretty great great as note 4 and in the top 10!
If you really want an 810 SoC then I'd say wait until next year. I'm hoping that the Galaxy S6 has it. That is if I decide to wait that long.
some guy in sticky answered me about the 64-bit, for now nexus 6 is still my choice
Sewrizer said:
The camera hardware is good. It is the software that lacks some features phones like the Note 4 have. Nexus 6 is a great device in terms of performance, battery and screen, but the camera is "just" decent. By no means, is it to be considered a bad camera, though.
My "speculation" is that qualcomm will launch snapdragon 810 in the late 2015. 805 can't be replaced this soon. They will probably come up with some minor upgrade such as an 806 (like they did with 801) but that's it until note 5/nexus 7 (or whatever the new nexus phone will be named). This is just the way I see it. Mobile industry is very dynamic and rather hard to predict without some information from the inside.

Sorry, didn't realise you were about to tell us what you do use your smartphone for...
What games do you play? Do they need [almost] desktop-level cpu and gpu chops or, are we talking Angry Birds level of resource usage?
Depending on the games you play a Note3 would probably be overkill already. No need for special hardware.
In the mean time, the screen size and resolution seems to be the main factors so, your list is probably spot on. I'd just add the Vivo PD1305 as perhaps one to watch depending on how open it is and whether it can attract support from developers.
I consider 64-bit only important from a "future-proofing" perspective. All else is marketing fluff.
In your position, I'd just grab a 7" or larger tablet and restrict my phone to a manageable size (and price). Buying both might even be chaeper than the device you end up buying (as long as needs rather than wants are prioritized to inform your purchase.

1. I couldn't install few games on it ! it got slow, it has weird screen issues (shade of what i was seeing , thats not in screenshots) and bad antenna and a little low storage and no otg also i would like to get new decent screen
2. Basically , future proofing !
3. As i said, i have been away from world for a long time basically im gonna go and find some amazing graphics new games and play them like mc5 or nova 3 or ect!
4. i never had a tablet not sure how it feels some apps are diffrent i can't call, (i do it only on emergency but what should i do if it happens?! maybe i get a cheap 1$ backup phone or keep the nexus 4 because im not sure i can sell it) + its big, i mean really big, 6inch can fit into pocket but not 7 but i can just carry a bag with myself :| i don't know! + lte ones are expensive
i don't know about vivo, its not a popular brand!(that doesn't mean its bad, i just have to google about it ) + can't be found on my country
and about oneplus one, its an amazing phone other than weird problems i heard it has on net ! (which i guess is fixed) but sadly, that awesome phone can't be found here its like everything i need, specially designed for me )
i could even end up not finding nexus 6 either, than i would think about waiting for something like z ultra or get htc one m8 or note 4!(wait till it gets cheap or something)
its awesome, but can't find it here
btw HerpingAndDerping , what do you mean by 510 at first?
my nexus 4 isn't fixable ?! let me install lolipop on it
omg, this is the best thing ever ! but sadly usb thether won't work so im back on kitkat till ota releases !
It depends how much money you are willing to give, the place where you live and specs.
The Note 4 or 3 are pretty good, the LG G3 is also good, especially with a bit of tweaking, Nexus 6 is also the prime rival of the Note 4 but its unavailable in alot of places and it might take months for it to appear in places.
The oppo devices are also good, Find 7 and 1+1 notably.
They are all pretty future proof, even a phone from last year is also future proof, because the Snapdragon 800 series SoC is so powerful, it can probably play any game there is out there for mobile.
If money is no issue, go for the Note 4
If money+time is no issue, Nexus 6
If you want good price/performance ratio, go for Oppo devices or LG devices or anything from 2013. The LG G3, at least where I live, is quite cheap compared to its rivals.
Notable mentions, Huawei Ascend series, Sansung Neo series, Acer Liquid series, Lenovo K series, Sony Z ultra. All of them are pretty big and cheap and have good price/performance ratio.
Good luck!

lg g3 gets hot and brings brightness down, it has some other problems as i remember, its battery life isn't good
btw, Oppo devices can't be found here either, only well-known brands ! but even moto phones are barely available, let me see if i can do anything
if not, (if im gonna get 801) i will get htc one m8 ! or even maybe the lg g3 , or even note 4, so , right now all i can do is to wait !
z ultra is amazing ! but only if it was 2k ... (at that size , pixels are huge, but for anything less than 6~ inch its overkill, in my opinion , its even bad ! because it slow downs device and drains battery !)
if i get non nexus i have to wait long for lolipop, and also, i want amoled phone for new lolipop features
what is the tweaking are you talking about?!

let me read some LG g3 reviews But i really like one m8, but its a little expensive. No, that can't be legit. I think they have mistaken it for an X2, the X3 won't be out for a few more months. I hope they don't use a 4K screen, 1080P is fine especially with the crazy battery life we get now.
If that is legit, with specs like that and no 4glte band for the usa, I am going to stick with my x2. Only features that would win me over would be a finger print reader, better camera, built in wireless charging, nfc, and the Internation version being showed more attention by huawei dealing with updates. Then I would think about it. I would highly doubt it would be selling ($459) for that price. Hardware like that would make it the fastest fablet every. Just like comparing the LeTV Le Max 2 (when it is released) to the rest of the phones. And you know that will be about $800-$900. No, that can't be legit. I think they have mistaken it for an X2, the X3 won't be out for a few more months. I hope they don't use a 4K screen, 1080P is fine especially with the crazy battery life we get now.

I agree about the battery life. The X2 is the best phone I have ever had. There is a bit of discoloration on my screen (I think the hanging air freshner hit the scree too many times), plus my "phone period" is acting up, so I'm starting to drool over the X3. I do agree though that 1080p on a 7 inch screen is plenty. Anything higher won't add any value. I mean if I wanted 4k, i'd buy an 80 inch TV

There will never be 4G LTE US bands. The phone was never designed for North American markets. Actually, I find that HSDPA is more than sufficient for 99% of the tasks, including watching YouTube. I actually bought a nexus 6 SPECIFICALLY to get 4G LTE and I couldn't stand it. It was clear the mediapad is a far superior device even at HSDPA+, so I returned the nexus in a hurry.
What I would LOVE to see in the X3:
1.) More RAM. Android keeps killing my background apps as part of its memory management.
2.) Better camera (yes I know the mediapad X2 has excellent cameras), but icing on the cake is a good thing right?
3.) EMUI (I actually like it). Please please Huawei don't F**** with something that works
4.) Google apps built in
and finally
5.) 4G LTE Us Bands (I know I know this won't happen, but I can dream right?)

I lost interest as soon as I read this sentence: "5.7-inch 2K display"
5.7? What is this 1983? I may as well go back in time, Back-To-The-Future style and get a (GAG ME) iPhone!
I think I'm picking up a Huawei Mate 8 to go alongside my X2's. It has the LTE Bands for the US supposedly and even has band 12 for T-Mobile.

Just looked it up. Really nice specs. I also like the design language Huawei used.
Only one problem (for me): Its TINY! I returned the nexus 6 (even though its about as good of an android phone as it gets) because it was way too small for me

I agree. I have a nexus 6 as well but I don't use it that much because the X2 battery is worlds better and the X2 pulls in a better signal most of the time. The problem is when I go to any wedding or party or the city it's sometimes hard to carry the X2 with me as I can't really sit down with it in my pocket. The Nexus 6 also has a better camera so I take it with me a lot of times. So I like to have both a 7 inch phone and a 6 inch smaller phone to carry with me sometimes. I'm selling the 6 to a friend and getting the 64GB Mate 8.

Nice! Yes, Android updates aside the Mate 8 is way better than nexus 6. I wasn't really impressed much with the nexus 6. Nice phone at all, but it seems mediapad x2 is much more of a premium device, even with the lack of US 4G LTE.
I use my mediapad as a daily driver and watch youtube even when in the car (it helps immensely with my school work or when I'm driving to go take a calculus test). I tried doing that with the nexus and it became apparent a 6" is far too small. Heck I even had a Z Ultra (awesome phone btw) but I felt it was too small

I'll just wait for the X4 coz our x2 will still get a sweet marshmallow update soon. If that x3 will have bezelfree screen and significantly lighter (maybe 200g) then it will be very tempting to buy it asap.

No Gapps and usa lte $550 because of the of the performance. My honor x2 is a fast phone. I would sell this for $325 and put $225 to it. now with usa lte and gapps, I would have to wait, it would cost $1000 or better. look at the price of the nexus 6 and 6p.

http://www.ainol-novo.com/huawei-mediapad-x3-phablet.html They put them out fast as lighting. I still wish they would add some more bands to it. They will be available soon.
I have the mediapad x2 and I thought for sure I would get the mediapad x3 when it comes out but I decided to wait for Samsung's 8 inch phone(Galaxy Tab s3 8.0 LTE) that comes out in Sept or Oct of this year instead. 7 inch phones are just too tiny for me now, probably gonna get a 9 inch phone next year if Samsung makes one.
This thread seems pretty active so... thought I would ask you pros.
When i reference this page: https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-4988
It shows bands 2/4 for HSPA+.
When I look at this page: http://consumer.huawei.com/en/tablets/tech-specs/mediapad-x2.htm
It shows that it supports GSM/UMTS band 2 (I don't know which of these HSPA+ would fall into). I'm pretty sure that T-Mobile Band 2 is area specific and isn't nation-wide, am I SOL in terms of being able to get this awesome device for T-Mobile?
EDIT.. maybe I'm thinking of band 2 lte specifically. idk.
alright found another thread, sorry guys ignore this question.
So we all know the op6 is coming soon and many of us are hoping to upgrade our outdated devices, but with Oneplus success in the market in recent years, their prices are continuosly going up,,maybe by small amounts on each phone, may be a big rise with the op6,we don't know yet
Anyway. What if the op6 launches with a price you cant afford.
What alternative devices have you in mind.
I have more or less decided that I will get a nokia 7 plus if the op6 is too expensive because it has what I need.Big battery and promise of frequent updates.Ive considered the honor view 10 and mi mix 2s also
What other mid to high range devices are you considering if tbe op6 is out of reach ?
ASUS Zenfone 5
only galaxy s9+ with unlocked bootloader.
The Nokia 7 Plus is going to be way cheaper than the OP6. It's cheaper than the OP5 and OP5T.
At its price, I don't think you can beat the Nokia 7 Plus but then again you need to consider what is or isn't important to you. OnePlus will have an awesome Development scene which there isn't with Nokia (unless it starts to develop and is contingent on unlocked bootloader and kernel sources being released).

In the UK the Nokia 7 Plus is £349.99. The 64gb OnePlus 5T is £449.
My logic is that the OnePlus flagships have been going up around £50 each year so the OnePlus 6 is likely to start at £499 and you were asking for the difference between the OnePlus 6 and alternatives. The Nokia 7 Plus is 30% cheaper.
Edit: I would note that I think the Nokia 7 Plus looks like a really good phone and would be tempted by it too.
Potentially consider the Asus ZenFone 5Z as another alternative but I think that is £499 also. If you're looking for the 845 processor, I can't really think of any other good options. Depends on what's important to you.

Yes absolutely you are right,20 to 30% difference in price of 5t and 7+ depending what country your in.It will be interesting to see what happens with the op6,but as you say it will certainly be higher.
I have been researching a lot of different devices to replace my op3 lately.I look at all the reviews, watch the youtube videos and join the forums to see what users are saying.
If I was to buy a phone now based on hardware alone and value for money Id go for the Honor view 10 with the kerin 970,but Honor are poor with updates. The Zenphone 5z looks great, but I dont think it will be available in UK/Ireland till July.It will though be cheaper than the op6 and 5t.
The Nokia 7+ is out May 2nd on Amazon,Im hoping the op6 is announced before then so I can make an informed decision, but could be ridiculous prices in which case Ill happily go for the 7+ which should be more than good enough for day to day use, especially as a non gamer.I don't play around with Roms as much as I use to and will be happy eith tbe long battery life and regular updates.
I do like oxygen os though and Oneplus are great with updates and theres a great community. Will be interesting to see what happrns within tbe next month or two
Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S.
Better: Camera, no notch, big screen, Project Treble (i'm not sure), and price imo
Worse: IPS screen, no 3.5mm Jack, Almost the same battery of the OP5
EDIT: I was wondering and just realized that every year, OnePlus makes a very well made flagship phone with latest soc, etc. and little additions (dual camera, now water resistance) it's all nice and good. The only deal thing is the price. I like OnePlus, (had the 3 and now the 5) and i understand that they make better and better every year, so it's obvious that it needs to cost more. I'll definitely buy the 6, in the end there are no alternatives sadly

If OnePlus 6 is a flagship killer, let's see what are available at the flagship level in my country at 64GB variant
835:
Pixel 2 XL - Rs.57,995
LG V30+ - Rs.44,990 (Only 128GB)
Nokia 8 Sirocco - Rs.49,900
Samsung Galaxy Note 8 - Rs.67,900
Mi Mix 2 - Rs.32,999 (Only 128GB)
845:
OnePlus 6 - Expected around Rs.35,000
Samsung Galaxy s9/s9+ - Rs.57,900 / Rs.64,900
Kirin 970:
Honor v10 - Rs.29,999 (Only 128GB)
Huawei P20 Pro - Expected around Rs.50,000
Huawei P20 - Expected around Rs.30,000
The only problem which I see out for OP6 is the territory it's venturing into. Those who are spending north of 30k won't mind spending extra for getting what they needed. Mediocre Camera will definitely kill OP6 on arrival since every single unit there gives you the best. If Huawei P20 Pro comes around 40k. It'll cannibalize OP6 hands down. But i think Huawei P20 might be in OP6 territory and might give some serious trouble for them.

For customization, I agree. OnePlus just does that better than all the other Android based smartphones out there. For other features though, I'm getting less and less impressed by their offerings each year, and when they get too expensive, I'll simply stop getting them,. I'll probably still get the 6 though, but if their prices get as high as iPhone level, I'm out.
I know it's not a new phone, as it's been out a while, but I quite liked the Razer Phone. So might get one of those if the OP6 doesn't impress me enough. But let's wait and see.
I have recently sold my Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus to get the Oneplus 7 pro, which I haven't bought it yet, however passing through comments and reviews on YouTube, some say that the 7T will be released really soon, but it will be focused on 5G capability.
I really don't care about 5G, but what about the processor? SD855+ which is slightly overclocked.
While now the 7 is cheaper than it was when it's first released... Should I wait?
Any comments and advices are welcome!
you will get a slightly faster cpu which our phones max out every game out there already. They might use an under screen camera. What else can you do to a phone? Phones have tapped out. All they can do now is add gimmicky ****.
They said they are keeping the same design of the oneplus 7 pro. Probably 855+ which 100% of people will not see a different just a few numbers higher in benchmarks. Add water resistant ip rating and wireless charging. Maybe a new faster charger since oneplus is now beat by the note 10+ with only their 25w charger. Maybe screen push to 120hz. But who knows. All this are my thought. But they definitly keep the same pop up camera design
7 T will release in october or november, depends when it will be ready.
5G network it's a joke now !
7 pro T can't have too much new hardware/options.
Could be More Expensive than 7 pro...
Wait for the pixel 4. Camera is still better. While we use gcam to get a better photo. Pixels just use the original gcam without a mess
I don't even buy a pone in the fall as you're getting a phone with an SoC (SD855) that will be replaced with a new SoC in just 3 months or so. I'm not paying full price for a phone that will be outdated so soon after buying it. Buying the phones in the spring lets you have the latest tech for a year before anything new comes out. I've bought 3 OP phones now, OP5, OP6, and the OP 7pro. I would never spend my money on a T version. When I buy the regular version nothing the whole rest of the year will have a better SoC sooo!?
It's like buying a car in August, you wouldn't want to pay new car price when it's about to be a leftover as the new models are coming out.
OnePlus 7 Pro for the win now! You could always sell it later if you see something better...
Do wish they would flatten out the screen a little more....the curve screen on the 7pro is difficult to view under light because of the reflection on the sides.

The SD855+ is a newer version of the SD855 that increases the speed of the core.
People just callout overclocked, but Qualcomm has increased the clock and certified functionality and longevity at that new increase in. speed.
They will essentially be the same thing. I'd get the 7pro now, but if you can wait and can spend the extra ~$200 the 7Tpro will be great too.

It turns out that the Pixel 6 Pro uses the Shannon A5123 5G modem made by Samsung, the Shannon 5511 sub-6GHz FR1 transceiver box, and the Shannon 5710 FR2 mmWave transceiver. The latter is missing from the non-US versions of the Pixel 6 Pro.
Subject to confirmation, the Pixel 7 Pro is said to use Samsung's Exynos 5300 modem

There are no sources so no Kernel/Rom, lenses are blocked so no gcam, and there is no msm download tool anymore,
Soo OP 10 pro is trash.
I want to like the P7P, I want to get one, but the more I look at it, the more I lean towards jumping ship for Samsung or most likely Apple. It would be my first apple mobile device, but aside from the eSIM all seems well.
The P6 is dreaded, and it took them way too long to offer software fixes.
I'm worried about the modem and don't understand why they're not going with Qualcomm.
It doesn't look like we'll be getting much in terms of camera improvement.
The battery will most likely be similar to the P6.
To answer your question plainly, I don't think there is any price point that justifies the risk of another failed device. I plan on waiting for the reviews. If the modem ain't stellar, it will be an automatic no from me because of my remote usage. If the modem works as well as the competition, then I'll have a hard time choosing.
Not interested at this time, but will be watching hand's on reports and reviews....
After hearing that it still has A55 cores, it's a no for me. I have not decided if I'm sticking with my OnePlus 9 or switching back to iPhone (I was on the 12 Pro Max for the last two weeks but the OOS13 beta dropped on the OnePlus 9 today and I kind of like it so I'm back on the OnePlus for now) but most relevant to this thread, I'm *not* going back to Pixel.
I'm writing this from a pixel 2 XL. Was previously using a One Plus 9 Pro. Had to switch back after the hyped up Hasselblad camera stopped focusing. In hindsight, it was a mistake to go with the one plus brand. My old pixel 2 it's working much better, and I will certainly be getting the 7 Pro
Will depend on modem. The modem on Pixel 6 Pro is absolute dog**** worst I have used.
But I will be getting rid of the Pixel 6 Pro, this is by far the worst phone I have ever used.
I am very happy with the 6 pro, but I like the look of the new minimal curve on the 7 pro. if there is also a higher peak brightness i'll be tempted, depending on trade in deals.
I did not plan on buying the P7 Pro, but since it does bring in a couple serious improvements, I made my pre-order today
- finally we get decent 10 bit HDR recording
- Faceunlock (as far as the presentation went, it's only for unlocking the phone and will not work as a biometric in-app or to make a payment)
- finally a decent peak brightness to work in the sun (1500 nits)
- 20 vs 30 res zoom with new nifty features
- macro mode (missed that since my ancient Samsung Galaxy alpha days), guided frame also looks promising for making videos
- better modem (this one needs reviews of course to validate any improvements; the P6 Pro modem is terrible)
- Tensor 2 should bring, if we look at the node and Googles claims, a 20% improvement in efficiency = better battery life
- and last but not least, the deciding factor that made me get the P7 Pro... European Google store offer the Pixel Watch LTE, valued at 429 €, for free when pre-ordering the 899 € P7 Pro. If I couple that with Rakuten and a Google Store cashback of 10% (Google One, 2 TB), sell the watch and my old phone, I get a new shiny phone and will actually have more money than I started out with. That's great of course.
In July, I had planned to buy the Nothing Phone(1) which looked interesting, and which is despite its setbacks the 1st smartphone produced by Nothing. Then, for personal reasons, I didn't buy it, and I turned to the Pixel 7 series that was supposed to arrive.
Very tempted by the 7Pro in 256GB, I hesitated for a long time and changed my mind again.
Looking at the specs, even if Google has improved this 7 series, I'll try to wait for the 8 series, which should arrive with a new processor and finally a non-curved screen and maybe a significantly reduced size for the 8Pro 256GB.
I'm staying with my OP 7T 256GB which I'll soon upgrade to custom rom, as OnePlus is not in a hurry to upgrade it to OOS12.
I wish you good time for the owners Pixel 7 serie

I'm not sure if that hope of yours will result in reality. Google has made it clear that they are all about design and how it looks, and less about function. Just listen to the people presenting Pixel products, look at the Pixel watch (little screen real estate (square smartwatches have great advantage) and continental sized bezels are okay, as long as it looks good): the aesthetic is of greater importance to Google than practicality.
There is simply nothing to indicate that Google would steer away from that path. They consider a curved display to look nice.
Ergo I highly doubt that Google would dramatically change that business strategy for the next iteration of this phone. People like you and me, who would enjoy an even panel more, are simply not in the targeting group of Googles marketing.
The Pixel 7 Pro is almost perfect but the Pixel 6 has the worst connectivity and reception of any phone I've used, even behind the Galaxy devices.
No reviews means it would be just great on paper.
it's time to retire my oneplus 7 pro and get pixel 7 pro
I really wish google would get into the charging game like the oneplus 10 plus... That thing charges from 20% to 80% in 10 minutes
