Melted chocolate in speaker - Sony Xperia XZ Premium Questions & Answers

Hi.
I had chocolate and my phone in my pocket and it melted into the top speaker. It sounds muffled, and I cleared it out. What can I do?
Many thanks

Had the same issue (made cookies for the kids and phone had recipes open) I just used warm cloth to wipe off excess and washed the phone with me in the shower.
Used an app, "unclog your speakers" to dislodge remaining water.

Top speaker very quiet and distorted since sauce was spilled on it

Okay hi everyone. This is my first post so please go easy on me. So I've had my Z3 for about two weeks now and love it.
Yesterday though, I was sitting in a car with it on my lap whilst eating a sandwich. A couple of drops of garlic sauce fell out and landed directly on the top speaker/ear piece. It was raining heavily so I immediately washed it out in the rain trying to get all the residue out from the speaker. I dried it off as best as I could, put it in my pocket and got back to what I was doing. That night someone called me and I realized I could barely hear them. So I played a video to test the speaker only to find that the base speaker was playing loud and clear but the top one was quite distorted and significantly softer. Is there any way I can fix this problem?
Thanks in advance for any help rendered.
Flush it in water and leave it to dry maybe. (Just the speaker part). Then leave in a bowl of rice or put a bag of Silica Gel over it over night and let it suck up the moist til its dry.

Soda (coke) burn on Galaxy Edge +

So today I was eating dinner and watching YouTube on my phone. I had a freshly opened Coke 20 oz. (might be important because of Carbonation level) . In my clumsiness, I knocked the coke over but caught it before it made to much of a mess. Some coke droplets flung onto my phones screen, 7 or 8 tiny droplets. Well I didn't clean it off right away because I was cleaning up coke from everything else.
We'll wen I go to clean the coke off the screen to my surprise there is like a footprint of each of the droplets etched into my glass. Not sure if it's a chemical reaction but NOTHING IS GETTING THEM OFF. I have tried scratching with my finger nail, vinegar, goo gone and industrial glass cleaner. Not even a tiny bit of difference.
I've called Samsung but those people are something special. Went to t mobile and various phone places in the mall but they think I'm lying about the coke, didn't have any solutions regardless. I can't even remotely find anything online. If anyone has any insight to this that would be fantastic.
Phone is a S6 Edge +
Phones (and tablets and such) have an oleophobic coating on the surface of the outer glass layer. This both allows your fingers to slide across it easily with minimal friction (rub your thumb on a window or bottle and you'll feel the difference), and for fingerprints and other crud to be easily wiped away.
Colas contain phosphoric acid to give it that "bite" in the taste. Surely you've also seen or heard about cola being used to clean oil spills on pavement, removing rust, cleaning car battery terminals, and dissolving teeth in school experiments.
I'm sure you can guess what's happened to the oleophobic coating on your poor phone. That's why they invented screen protectors.

i figured it had something to do with the acidic nature of the soda, but i didnt know the details. nice!

Galaxy S7 should I worry about that ??

Recently I've been on holiday and had an small accident ( BTW I never try to test my phone water resistance capabilities or other stuff and my phone is allways in rugged incipio case ) so I have accidentaly splashed my phone with a vine ( to be accurate fruit vine which is called in my country "SANGRIA" its more of a juicy drink with litle alcoholl ) anyways, I splashed my phone and it wasn't all wet but there was a litle bit of water in the speaker grills (one drip) and I couldn't clean it out of there and it might got inside the speaker port but nowhere else and I have cleaned with wet towel rest of the phone from vine and it was 2 weeks ago and everything works fine without any problems and speaker is in perfect working condition. So my question is should I worry about vine ( non fresh water ) in my port?
Sorry for stupid question.

it should not affect the phone but you can put the phone under running water just to rinse the vine off...
then, you can allow the phone to dry
Just clean it with fresh water and it will be fine
About waterproof resistance: You can take a bath or swim with it, take selfies and jump with it into a pool. it will be okay. Dry it after go out of the pool
I've already test it about 30 times last month. Works like charm
Just as Samsung says, don't expose it above 30 minutes every use under the water/juice/whatever just to be sure it does not suffer for external damage like the broken speakers or mic

the water resistance 1m deep water means only 0.1 bar pressure, it was never designed for pool camera, just say

Hi
I miss sangria
That should not be a problem , the phone is water resistant may be at most clean it with clean water to avoid any damage to the seals by the alcohol ,damp cloth with water or some cotton
I wouldn't worry to much
Check this video , i will help you understand

Thanks everyone for answers.
Yes to be honest I was not sure If it got any in the speaker grills inside. I was holding phone vertical and accidentally splashed phone with vine and to be sure the screen was all covered with vine but there was just a few drops on the bottom so I don't think that any of it got inside but I have wiped phone with wet towel and left to dry itself.

More than 1m deeper the pressure may damage internal components and jumping into water or throwing it into may damage external modules of the phone like speakers, USB and mic (of course this were the values established for the IP68 and given by Samsung. S7 like others can handle more but it's not recommended)
I did test in extreme conditions like jumping into water but not salty and took some showers with it and S7 never failed me.
IF YOU DROP YOUR PHONE WATERPROOFNESS/WATER RESISTANCE MIGHT BE COMPROMISED!

Moto G and beer

So about 5 hours ago I accidentally spilled a small amount of beer on my Moto G while it was playing music. Immediately after the speaker got covered in beer the sound became all quiet and distorted. I immediatelly rushed to a sink to wash off the speaker with water but that doesn't seem to help.
I've soaked the front in water so many times in the past, you could say I've literally spilled water on both the display and two speakers whenever I decided to clean it and have never had any problems and now this small amount of beer drop on it completely wrecked it which is unusual.
The phone is fully functional, including its micro USB charging port and the only damaged component so far appears to be the speaker, if damaged at all.
Have any of you had such experiences with quiet and distorted sound? Could it just be filled with liquid that needs some time to dry up?
My experience over the past year with my G3 had been all ok. I took it in the shower with me almost everytime for music. Water actually does make the speaker muffled up, temporarily. I leave it for some minutes and it the sound is back to normal. Idk about beer, but I suggest u give it some time to dry up obviously. Use a blow-dryer (hair dryer whatever).
Edit:
So you used water to clear up the speaker after the beer spilled (didn't read your post clearly). Water won't help, it'll just stay muffled if you clear it up with water. I think you did whate everyone would've done with water resistant/proof phone (including me) if it gets dirty or something else is spilled on it. I've cleaned my phone plenty of times with water. The speakers do get muffled, just with water for me. Just give it time to dry out thats all.
Needs time to dry out. Put it in a rice bowl if u can

The phone is drunk, I think. Rice bag idea works very well.
Broadcasted from Zeta Reticuli
Give it some time... When I had my G3 I dropped it in a 5 gallon bucket of marinara sauce, then hosed it off with scalding hot water at the dish wash station. The sound was muffled/garbled for about 12 hours or so until it completely dried out, then it was fine. That was 6 or 7 months ago and it still working fine today.
If the phone is waterproof (not sure to what depth), I think it would better to give the speakers a rinse in clean water before drying it out. That would reduce the possibility of beer residue from having an effect on the sound.

Water fell into speaker grille

Hi,
I was walking along, and some water fell from a unbrella onto my head and phone. Some of the water seems to have gotten into the lower speaker grille, making the speaker tinny and strange sounding. Is there any way I can dry it out safely?
Thanks
Nah it's all good mate I do this all the time, it is IP68 rated after all, you can make a spike with a towel and rub it in there, tissue less recommended for the mess. I put my phone under the tap all the time and the speakers go tinny, dries alright in like an hour.
