I am trying to backup my android data and it's not getting backed up.
The backup button is greyed out and all the options like apps, settings etc are showing "waiting to backup"
I tried "bmgr backupnow --all" but that thing never works when need to restore data.

I did a full System and App backup with Titanium and that went fine.
I deleted a couple of Apps from the X10 and then tried to retore them with TB, I couldn't. In the list of TB Apps the ones I want to restore show as "not installed" and when I click on one of them the only option is "delete". If I click on an App that is still on the X10 them I have an option to "restore".
I think it would be better to be able to restore the apps that I've deleted and not so much the ones that are still on the X10, no?
Install Unknown and Debugging are set properally.
Am I missing something here?
Thanks
When I open Titanium back up, it says "your system settings will prevent you from restoring applications. To correct this, go to your phones settings, then in applications and tick the unknown sources checkbox...but there is no checkbox...i just want to back up my apps and restore my phone...please help.
I have my Nexus S running stock android and its rooted. Want to switch over to CM7 RC1. Since this is my first time I am concerned about the 175+ installed apps and their data
My first back up using Titanium was a "Backup all user apps and system data"
Over a week I have installed few more apps and upgraded few. Now I have run "Backup all new apps and newer versions".
Have also verified backup.
[Experimental] Migrate system data is unchecked.
Should I be using this option ?
Has anybody tried migrating system data from stock android to CM7 ?
Will I have to perform "Backup all user apps and system data" again to back up system data ?
I hope I am on the right track and not missing on something
And I should copy SD card data as it is and copy it back as it is right ? Anyways to do away with orphaned data ?
i've never used the migrate system data option, to prevent weird bugs from getting a life of its own
it's safer just to stick with user data and apps when you restore
for backup i always backup everything regardless
So do you use "Backup all user apps and system data" option everytime before u flash rom ?

That is what I do. Usually, I try to back up everything every week or so but I generally clear out all backups every once in awhile too just to get rid of stuff I don't want anymore.
Okay thanks

same here
also there is an option to enable the automated scheduled full backup
Yep. I think it would be a good idea to schedule it during sleep time/charging time and also to upload it to your dropbox account.
I always back up my SMS with "SMS Backup & Restore" from the Play Store. I've been using this app for a few months now and it has never given me issues. It always works after changing to a new ROM and restoring has always worked flawlessly.
But a few days ago I tried to restore my SMS using this app. It said it was successfully restored, but when I went into the Messages app. It showed "No messages". Even if I try to send a new text, Messages app force closes. So I rebooted, still "no messages". Rebooted again into recovery cleared cache and dalvik and rebooted. Now in the Messages App, I see only some of the old message that were restored but not all of them. I tried to restore again and the same thing happened "no messages". So I repeated the steps above and eventually after several reboots and clearing caches I finally get all my texts back. I even tried using a different SMS backup and restore app but it would not even restore, it just failed.
I have over 1500 texts backed up but I use to have over 2000 and this problem never happened.
Has anyone else had this problem? I need help with this.
This first started when I flashed Hyperdrive RLS6 and tried restoring. And every Rom I flash after that gives me the same issue.
First things first, I'd say try clearing the messaging apps data(in manage apps) and fixing permissions(in custom recovery, advanced). Then restore.
Something that might be noteworthy, the app SMS Backup & Restore uses a proprietary method and file extension, that makes it hard to debug. When you create the backup, does any error/warning message come up or does it say 100% successful?
Also, I'd recommend using Titanium Backup. Just search for "Messages" and it will backup the messages in plain .xml which could be more consistant.
My 2 cents
I manually upgraded my ROM to 10f so that I wouldn't get the notification anymore. After installing TB I tried to restore my apps and none of them would work! Batch restore just hung so I tried and individual restore and got a parse error, and it hit me....
I was using ART instead of Dalvik on my old ROM! swapped my runtime over to ART and TB works like it should now.
Just a heads up for anyone else who might run into this.
You can also let Google restore your apps automatically and then use TB to restore just the "data" for those apps that you need to rather than restoring "App and Data". This is a "safer" method of restoring apps IMHO because you won't run into incompatibility issues while still recovering your data for the apps.
I have always had issue with google restoring my apps. It either doesn't work at all, or it installs every app I've used in the past year or so, even the ones I've removed
