@ riz157 thanks for your feedback we are waiting an answer about Always on display if there is third party app notification and which one spesific app being support for example Viber,WhatsApp,Gmail etc. and clarify the solar ring functionality if it works as led notification alternative ti incoming app notification.

I don't see any support to see third party apps unfortunately on AOD.
I'm using led ring for notifications. I installed light flow to make use of the ring notification light.

Really strange because Vivo Nex global version support at minimum 4 app(phone calls, sms,Viber and WhatsApp)
Can you check it at AOD setting menu -notification submenu what option app you see if there is any kind ??
Unless you are not using Viber and WhatsApp and that's why you won't see it.:fingers-crossed:
Good to hear solar ring take advantages with third party app and act as led notification:good:

@riz157 I see you're in the Uk. What network are you on? Because most of the major carriers use a mix of Bands 20, 3 or 7. Apparently this phone doesn't have band 20 so you may not get full LTE coverage. Have you had that issue so far?

This is the only LTE band support for Global version according to Vivo support I've talked an hour ego.

I'm currently using EE in both slots. I've not had an issue constantly 4g but can't confirm if band 20 is supported or not. I'll try contact Vivo see if they can shed more light on this.
I've just checked with Vivo and only Chinese version supports band 20.

You're right no band 20 support for international version. Chinese version has band 20 but no support for 3rd party AOD notification.

Yes unfortunately Vivo and oppo have some strange policies. Still not realising their markets perhaps in couple of years once they will understand the western market.

Turn on and off screen without power button

I have a Google Nexus one. And like other Android user, I'm worry about my power button.
I have to turn on device by it, turn off device by it, light on screen by it, and light off screen by it...
This button is the most laboring component on my Android phone, I wanna release it, but I can't found any solution suit me in Market.
So, I start to study the Android API, and try to find a way to light on and light off screen without my power button.
Fortunately, I found the proximity sensor and light sensor are work on sleep mode, and I try to write an application to turn screen on and off by sensor.
This application named "Sense Lock", and renamed to "Light lock" after a few weeks to fit it's icon.
The partnership of light sensor and proximity sensor is work successfully on my Nexus one, but it not work on other devices, and causes the setting more complicated.
I forsake the light sensor reluctantly at edition 2.0, and now it's works on more 2.2 devices, such as HTC Desire, HTC Desire HD, Samsung i9000, etc.
I'm excited to present this application to you, and waiting for any suggestion and question. Please try it, this application is free.
URL below is a video of "Light lock", but it made with early edition, this application not work by light sensor currently.

Hi
Check Android Market, and found the app, but the comment said that it works with Nexus One only.
Can you clarify whether it works on the others?
it seems it will get annoying since if there is an object pass the sensor it will automatically turn off screen. It is a creative apps tho. But I don't think using the sensor will be the best idea.
Can't get it to activate lock on Desire. The device vibrates but doesn't lock.
The proximity unlock seems to work correctly.

The vibration indicates the lock function can be launched by long press only.
Please keep pressed, the device be locked in few seconds.
Else you can set the "Lock function on portrait mode" item's value to "Lock normally", then you can lock device by normal clicking.
how about when trying to make a call? obviously your ear will block the sensors will this app automatically be disabled?

Is there any way you could add a shortcut or widget to disable the application? For example when you want to put phone in your pocket.

OP,
Interesting idea, but I use the trackball to wake and I have WidgetLocker in ADW to lock, but maybe I'll give this a try. I've never found sensor based locking to work in all circumstances and often annoying, but I too avoid using the power button as much as possible.
Thanks for the app
nice idea. thanks.
Works great on my N1
Had to tweak the values a little.

awesome app works nice on the Evo, now i noticed that like previously stated the sensor can be triggered by anything including putting the phone in ur pocket. is it possible to only activate the app via sensors if there are no other physical objects surrounding it, or just make a specific position the phone will use the senors via the gyroscope.
thx

After the success of Smart Screen OFF and Smart Screen ON... Here is Keep Screen ON!
Keep Screen ON is an innovative free app that allow you to keep your smartphone screen ON in a smart way. This app will help you saving battery keeping the screen on only when you are holding it. This works thanks to orientation sensor built in your device (smartphone or tablet).
HOW DOES IT WORK?
When you are using your device, you hold it in a specific position. Keep Screen ON let you select the range of activation of the screen brightness based on the device inclination (more smart ways are coming soon).
WHY DOES IT SHOULD IMPROVE BATTERY LIFE?
You know for sure that screen brightness is the most important factor in battery life and you will find it always at the top of the most consuming factors in Android statistics. Keep Screen ON as name implies, keeps brightness enabled only when you are holding it: as soon as you left it on the table, the screen will turn off.
SO WHAT?
Download the app and extend your battery life!
FUTURE
This is first version and powerful improvements are coming soon.

+Screen settings

Very nice app, been looking for something like this for a while now.
I have one problem with it, when my phone is in its cradle it falls within the setting range and the screen times never times out.
It would be great if in the future there could a setting to disable the app when connected to an external pwr source and/or an option to let the screen time out after a specific time without any movement.

When the app is activated proper, I don't notice any change.
Should the screen be turning off and on based on the test model? Am I mistaking the uses of this app, please tell.

Yeah, always make sure to "Save and restart the app" every change you make. If something doesn't work properly, rebooting could do the trick.

When you are using the phone, the brightness will never be turned off (screen won't turn off and brightness won't be dimmed).
As soon as you are not using phone anymore (you place it on your desk for example), the app will let screen turn off.

excellent application. its very useful. I would like to request you to implement a few extra features that will be handful in saving battery.
1. warning notification/dialogue for checking screen on time for more than 5 to 30 minutes. (even if the device is in motion or touchevents)
2. need screen timeout option to detect stillness. 1 min to 15 min
3. need to set screen off if the device is held vertical or horizontal ( bcoz we will not hold mobiles in 90 degree except when using camera.
Love this app!!
Using it in conjunction with your other screen off app, and between the two, my screen only ever comes on when actually in use. This is awesome yet so simple, great idea, looking forward to further development.

[APP][2.3+][FREE] IntelliCover 2.0 - Display Automation using Proximity/Light

Hi there xda. A few months ago I posted my first app, IntelliCover, on xda-developers. It got a great response here and was featured on the front page of xda-developers and went on to feature on Discovery Channel's App Snap. Of course, being the smart person that I am...Well, let's just say I lost it...Yes, lost the app...Don't ask how. Anyways, I saw this as a chance to rebuild the app with all your suggestions in mind, from the ground up. So here it is, IntelliCover 2.0!
※ DESCRIPTION
IntelliCover 2.0 is a utility which uses your device’s proximity sensor, light sensor and/or accelerometer to turn the screen on and off, allowing fast and efficient access to your phone or tablet.
It turns the screen off automatically when you put your device in your pockets, close its flip cover, store the device in a bag, or even just leave the device facing down on a table. As soon as the device is back in your hand the proximity/light sensor is triggered again, the screen turns back on and your device in instantly ready for use. This improves productivity immensely on large devices or devices that do not have physical hardware buttons.
IntelliCover 2.0 is the completely revamped and redesigned version of IntelliCover, rebuilt from scratch after listening to the feedback of thousands of users.
※ COMPATIBILITY
IntelliCover works on all Android devices that have a light or proximity sensor, or an accelerometer. It does NOT require your device to be rooted.
※ FEATURES
• Sensor Calibration: Screen On Delay, Screen Off Delay, Suspension Timers, Application Suspension, Light/Shake Sensitivity Calibration
• Application Settings: Disable in Portrait/Landscape Mode, Go to Home Screen, Remove Lock Screen, Screen Off Only, Screen On Only, Start on Boot, Save Profile (Settings), Restore Profile, Restore Default Settings
• Modes: Proximity Mode, Shake Mode, Light Mode, Proximity and Light Combo Mode
• Notifications: Proximity Warning (Vibration), Status Bar Notification
• Toggles(Screen On/Off): Airplane Mode, Auto Sync, Bluetooth, Ringer Mode, Wi-fi

One question, is this app compatible with tablets, specifically, Nexus 7? I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong but I couldn't get it to work on that device.

I'm glad you like the app.
Yes, the app is designed to work on all tablets, and has been tested for compatibility on Nexus 7 specifically. Tablets do not have proximity sensor (usually) so you'll have to use it in "Light Mode" which uses the light sensor instead. Don't worry, it works just as well as the proximity sensor. If you are already using light mode, please let me know and I'll try to help you. Can you tell me which Android version you're using?

Ah, sorry, my bad. It works great in light mode. I assumed tablets had a proximity sensor (I'm kinda new around here ).
One more thing. I'm not sure if this is a bug, but when the Device Administrator page popped up, I clicked cancel by mistake, but it kept showing up again and again until I clicked Activate. It kept reappearing unless I accepted it.
Thanks again!

One more thing. I'm not sure if this is a bug, but when the Device Administrator page popped up, I clicked cancel by mistake, but it kept showing up again and again until I clicked Activate. It kept reappearing unless I accepted it.
Thanks again!

Whoops, that's a weird bug. This is what I get for adding last minute untested modifications. I should've known better. =/ Thanks for the tip, I'll fix it by the next update. =)
Released an absolutely vital mini update. If you are on V1.0.0, please update ASAP.
Version 1.0.1 (15/08/2013)
• Fixed Device Admin cancellation bug.
• Removed all Device Admin permissions except for Force Lock.
Hi Dev.
Thanks for making a very good apps for us.
I am using your Original IntelliCover & its work great
on my Nexus 4 with Cover Case, I am loving it.
Should I need to uninstall the IntelliCover 1 & install the IntelliCover 2...?
Google Play doesn't show up update alert for the new v2....???!!!!
Whats the different between IntelliCover 1 & 2, I see the new one have
much larger file size, 1000k vs 4000k, Which version will work
best on my Nexus 4...?
Thanks...!
Its good but takes lot of RAM compared to intellicover 1 (almost three times). Thank you for making this app anyways but I am still fine with intellicover 1 and that works great. I have to say one thing, for me both work flawless. Please keep intellicover 1 also on google play. Looks like it is removed now.
Small bug that annoy me a lot and improvement request
Bug
1. Remove lock screen will work for sometimes only. It will not work after sometime. It will go back to lock screen mode automatically even the option I already select.
Improvement request
1. When manually press the power button to off the screen, set the program off for temporary so it won't auto screen on again.
Other than that, it is one of the best app I like

I would recommend installing the new version since I will not be updating the old version anymore and the new one has more features. But the new version is still a little buggy since I had to rebuild the whole app, so if you want to wait a little bit, that makes sense too. I couldn't post an update on the old one because I lost the keys for the app and all its data as well. =( That's one reason I had to rebuild it. That's also why the old one hasn't been updated in months. The new one is a bigger filesize because it has a lot more features and a big UI upgrade. =)

Yes, I realize it is taking up quite a bit of RAM for some reason. I wanted to get the app out there but I haven't started optimizing it completely yet. It makes sense for you to use IntelliCover 1 for now, but I plan on rolling out alot of updates soon that will optimize it, so keep an eye out.

The lock screen issue is a known bug. I'm working on fixing it as soon as I can, hopefully by next update. Manually pressing the power button should keep the screen off...Hmmm...are you using the proximity sensor or the light sensor?

In fact I would like to have featured once press the power button to shut off screen, it can automatically disable the program until we manually unlock the screen.
By the way I use proximity sensor only.

Yes, I'm adding that option too. It's been requested by many users, so I'll add it to "Screen Off Only" for the next update. =)

im using galaxy tab which have no proximity only light sensor.
the program shut my screen too often while im still using the tab.
i have calibrated the app but still it is not working.
i do hope you can include a option to activate in lock screen or similar.
also would like to have tasker/llama/locale option of enabling dissabling of the app.
thanks

Once you calibrate the light sensor to a specific value, it will turn off as soon as it reaches that value. So if you have calibrated it for your bag, the screen may also turn off if you are in a pitch black room, because it has the same light sensor value. I've made the only workaround to this that I can think of, which is that if you are in a dark room, and you press the power button to turn the screen on, it won't turn off again automatically until the light value changes or you press the power button again.
But yes, I will be adding the "Only activate during lockscreen" option in a future update. =)
Edit: Not sure about how to create tasker/llama/locale plugins but I'll check it out as soon as I have time.
Pretty massive update. Fixes alot of common bugs. Thanks for sending in your reports! =)
Version 1.0.2 (24/08/2013)
•Fixed both crashing issues
•Fixed "Remove Lock Screen"
•Fixed "Go to Home Screen" for ignored apps (Application Blacklist)
•Fixed toggles for "Start on Boot"
•Added Widget
•Added Screen Timeout patch
•Removed multiple memory leaks (Battery Optimization)
•"Screen Off Only"/"Screen On Only" now completely turns off proximity sensor when display turns off/on
•Reformatted all text to make it translation-ready (Turkish/Italian versions coming soon)
Hi there, I cannot get this to work correctly on my HTC One. I have tried with both Sense and Aosp lockscreens. Is there something I need to do instead? I wave my hand in front and I can see the screen blink for a second and then that's it. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Hello. Interesting, I've tried on the International HTC One but I've received a couple reports about the Sprint version having issues. Could you please tell me which model your phone is? I'm having a little trouble analyzing the issue without a device because turning the screen off is a native Android function that I just need to call upon so I'm not sure where the error lies but I'll try to get my hands on a device. Did the app ask you for Administrator Privileges? Also, if you turn on "Proximity Warning" from the Application Settings menu, do you feel a vibration on triggering the proximity sensor (Just to make sure the proximity sensor's being triggered)?
One last thing I'd like to ask is, does it work when you use your finger instead of a cover? Many proximity sensors don't do well with specific colors. I've had to stick a little piece of paper on my own cover where the proximity sensor lies because the dark brown leather makes the sensor go nuts.
EDIT: Just saw your signature and realized you have the AT&T version. Did anything I mentioned above work?
Released a quick-fix update. Please update to v1.0.3 to avoid the crashes caused by the v1.0.2 update

Yup. Tested for a long time before I realized the issue was caused because whenever a notification in the status bar is clicked, the KeyGuard (Lock Screen) gets reset. I just had to detect when one of those notifications is clicked and run the deactivation process again.

[APP][2.3+][ROOT] Screen Backlight OFF (xda-exclusive free version)

Hi,
I've developed a small app to switch off the screen backlight without switching off the screen completely. It requires root.
This is an xda-exclusive free version! If you want to support me, please consider getting the paid version on Google Play or check out my other apps.
Please note: Redistribution of this app is not allowed!
Paid version on Google Play (same functionality): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cygery.screenbacklightoff
New: Now available via XDA Labs!
NEW: Video by MiroslavVitula: https://youtu.be/B7Wt3nIOdXg Thanks!
Review on NaldoTech: http://www.naldotech.com/turn-the-s...pting-videos-on-android-screen-backlight-off/ (Thanks!)
Device compatibility: second post
Why would I want to use this?
The typical use case is:
You use a video player app.
You only want to enjoy the sound/music.
Thus, you want the display to be off to save battery or because the brightness annoys you.
However, most players stop the playback when the screen is turned off.
An often used workaround are apps which set the backlight brightness to a very low (but still visible) value and/or put an additional dark layer on the screen. On typical LCD displays both methods keep the backlight on. Thus, it will still emit light and use battery power.
This app turns off the screen backlight completely without switching off the screen.
Features:
Notification to quickly switch off screen backlight
Single or double tap to deactivate
Option to automatically activate when screen turns off
Configurable activation delay
Configurable overlay color and transparency
Timeout
Floating activation button (optional, enabled via additional notification)
Setting to keep screen on (usually not required)
Shortcut (allows other apps, e.g., automation tools, to switch off the backlight via this app)
How to turn the backlight on again?
Simply touch the screen.
What about OLED/AMOLED screens?
(Note: There are user reports where the app works on devices with AMOLED displays.)
An exception are OLED/AMOLED screens where the pixels itself emit light. I have no device with such a screen for testing. If you have one and test this app, please report whether it works or not.
It doesn't work!
If you're using MIUI ROM: Please enable "Show popup window" for this app via the system settings.
Make sure this app was granted root rights.
Make sure that no brightness control or similar app interferes with this app.
Do you know what the purpose of this app is? Please make sure before posting that "it doesn't work".
Please take a minute to search the thread. If there's already an answer/solution this saves both of us time.
Nothing helps? Post your device name, Android version, ROM name/version and describe exactly what you did, e.g., how you tried to use the app/what you clicked/etc.
Cheers,
cygery

I'll wait how much demand there is for this.
Please note that this app doesn't put the device to sleep and its purpose is to be used with other apps (video players) which keep the device awake anyway. So this app doesn't wake up the device and shouldn't be used as a replacement for a "double tap to wake" feature.
Works on my xperia z3 dual, thanks for this wonderful app

i have a question. how can i activate it when i am in a full screen app? seems like i've to increase the activation time so that i can enter quickly into the app & then it will auto activate. but if u can implement an option to trigger it by double/triple/quad (as someone may trigger something else by tapping certain tym so it will be better to keep these three options) tapping the screen then it would be so much easy! we won't have to increase/decrease timer for different apps. & how does the option 'allow externel access' work? i mean i can switch off the screen from any app (except full screen ones) via notification without enabling it. so what does it do if i enable it?

I'll think if I can find a good way to enable it from a full screen app. Can you open the notification area from the recents screen? If I remember correctly it's opened by long clicking the home button on your device.
External access must be enabled to use the shortcut feature. You can add the shortcut to your home screen but automation tools usually also support shortcuts so you could combine it. Maybe it's already possible to detect double/triple taps with an automation tool and trigger this app then.

Can i get future updates over play store if i install this xda version?

USA: Got X Fold 2. Ask me anything!

Today I got red X Fold 2 from Giztop. Ordered on Apr 29, Shipped on May 3, received via DHL to California May 5. Very satisfied with the shipping.
Unboxing: Nice box, it came up with 120w charger, type C cable and the back protector (color matched). I am not sure why the front screen case is not included. First I thought it is missing for me, then I checked YouTube and every unboxing videos show only the back protector case.
Phone was nicely packaged.
Software/Initial install: Box was opened to install Play Store I guess. Unfortunately I was not able to login to google account. So I decided to a complete reset. After the reset, I moved all the apps/data from Samsung Fold 3 to Vivo using the inbuilt transfer tool. I am pleasantly surprised on how smooth that process was. Within few minutes, i transferred 29GB worth of apps/data. So far so good. Also updated to the latest firmware: PD2266_A_13.0.12.3.W1 with April security update.
After the initial setup, I installed my USMoible (Verizon MVNO) sim card. Phone complained that the SIM is not from China and 5G will not work! I picked one of the predefined APN and up and running on 4G HD. Had problem receiving and making phone calls. Rebooted phone few times and now I am able to make calls and getting SMS.
Registered for Vivo account using my US number. Opened the Vivo app, installed Gmail app. This installed all the google services and I was able to access play store. I uninstalled most of the pre installed china apps using the Vivo store app. No problems so far, as I left anything that says Vivo.
I was able to modify battery management settings to get notifications to work for most of my applications. I cannot find auto start settings, but so far I am getting the notifications even though phone screen is turned off. Will see how it goes.
I have not tested the camera yet as I am still figuring out all the settings of the phone.
Hardware: Sold, much better than Samsung Fold 3. I was so frustrated with the narrow cover screen of Fold 3. Very painful to type. Vivo is so nice. Nice cover and inner screens. Both screens have screen protectors, and I DO see the crease when I see the inner screen at an angle. Not as bad as Fold 3 though. Speakerphone is okay, and not great.
Also this phone has the slider button to mute the phone. I did not expect this. This is my first Vivo phone.
I will update my post once I use the phone more. Let me know if you want to me test/verify anything.
I'm just really curious if there's a way that I can still use the outer screen even when it's unfolded? Can I open and run apps on the outer screen when it's unfolded?
On the Samsung Fold it has a work around and I can do that. I was wondering if it's the same on the Vivo Fold.
Thanks.

Where can you find the settings for that?
Settings > display
Also, I was able to setup Nova as the default launcher!!! I created the vivo account, and then I can use Nova. All gestures work perfectly.
I also needed to change the font to an another installed one, as the default font has issues displaying English chars. Long space after apostrophe shows up.
We have it. Also had the vivo X fold plus in the past.
Feels slightly thinner and slightly lighter. Not by much at all unfortunately, it's still too damn heavy, that weight is a pain in the rear!
Looks much better and that inner screen is noticeably better and brighter. Build quality definitely improved.
Ordered Friday from wondaMobile and it was delivered on Monday. 3 says to UK, well done dhl express and amazing as always from wondaMobile!
Battery life immediately better, noticeable straight away, but that external screen annoyingly only goes as low as 60Hz, would have loved a proper LTPO external screen to save battery. Sigh. Inner screen will go down to 1Hz depending on what brightness level it's on and it's just amazing, really is!
Nothing needs to be said about the 8 gen 2, it's a resounding success.
To summarize if you've come from a X fold plus it's just not a big enough upgrade to bother with. Both screens are really lovely though, battery life is OK, should have been better, bigger battery and LTPO external screen needed! That's always more important than 120w fast charging which will just age that battery faster.
Torn, will we keep it? might not but if you've never had a fold, this is the best from any company so far, I'm my opinion, after having the honor magic V, z fold 4, mix fold 1&2,
Any stylus support? Also, did you have to create a Vivo account in order to get the okay store to work? In on the fence, and after 3 Fold devices with a narrow front screen, I'm ready for a change. Thanks for taking time to read and respond to my post.
No pen support. I tried fold 3 pen on both the inner and outer screens but no go.
I created the vivo account using my US phone number during the initial setup and it worked just fine. I get the SMS couple of times during this setup.
While changing the launcher, it asks you to enter the Vivo account password to confirm. Once done I was able to able use Nova without any issues. Note that Nova does not support inner screen properly. It just blows up the icons and widgets of the home screen to fit the inner screen and it looks ugly. I may try a different launcher or go back to the Vivo one.
Outstanding issues:
1. MMS not working with USMobile. Tried different APNs but still no go.
2. Whatsapp audio calls cuts out every min for about 5-6 seconds. This is with ear speaker, speakerphone and Bluetooth. This is also with screen on. I had similar issues with OnePlus 9/10 US versions, but had no issues with Samsung. Very annoying.
3. Google timeline does not work, but it is not a big deal for me.
Very nice hardware compared to Samsung Fold 3, but software is not polished.
I have a ZFold4 (T-Mobile)..............if I were to get the Vivo X Fold 2, what initial issues would or should I expect?

Almost the same as mine! check my review comments. I came from Fold 3. Love the Vivo hardware, but on the software side, need to spend lots of time tweaking the settings/applications to make it work the way US phones work. Getting notifications consistently from apps is challenging. Google maps timeline does not work as well as Android Auto. TMobile 5G works.
No case available anywhere in US. The one included with the phone only has the back plate and the front screen/sides are fully exposed. I ordered one from China via ebay.
Can uninstall most of the preinstalled apps, but the V-Store (Vivo's version of app store) is completely Chinese. Also some pop up message are completely in Chinese including the button labels.
If you do not want to tinker or do not have time to spend to do the tweaks, I do not recommend this.
ugh about Android Auto, since I got a new car three months ago that uses it

Did you setup vivo account?
under settings look for "Allow the launcher to be replaced" option and select it. If you have the Nova account, it will ask you for the password. After this...
open Nova. There will be a red banner at the top of the nova app asking you to set it as default. Follow the directions.
Yes did all that set nova as the default and when you hit home it keeps going back to the system launcher
Set up my vivo account
Allow the launcher to be replaced
Opened nova and set as default
Keeps going back to the system launcher
how is multi tasking on the device? I generally like to play a game and have a video in the corner. Can you see how small you are able to shrink a YouTube window. And if clicking the button to make YouTube video while floating full screen makes it turn into a mini video player
