On my Samsung Note 9 and Mate 20 Pro, when viewing HDR content, the phone automatically adjusts to Max brightness for proper viewing. With my Pixel 3, this does not happen and I have to increase the brightness manually to get the full effect. I have adaptive brightness off and I have the YouTube video set to playback at 1080/HDR. Is there anything I'm missing. Can this phone play back HDR properly?

I noticed that in low light, or just being indoors, my frame rate in recording 720p video would drop down to 20-21 fps. If I cranked up lighting in a room - the frame rate goes back up to 30fps. Has anyone encountered the same? Is this normal across the board for video? I am using media player classic to monitor the frame rate, http://mpc-hc.sourceforge.net/.

Thats normal, its because the ISO goes up in low light situations, so it takes more time for the sensor to pick up the image, try manually setting the iso so it should have 30fps but a dark image.
I was little disappointed with poor video stabilization capabilities of S6, so I even had to use Stabilize' option in YouTube after uploading my videos. Then I thought maybe my optical image stabilization component is damaged so I started playing with it and once I turned it off in camera app settings, my video stabilization started to work very well. Then I noticed some other people noticed the same thing on S6 Edge forum. So it seems to be a bug in camera software. Anyway - if you want to have video stabilization you need to have it turned off. It's funny that most people didn't notice this issue It also took my almost 6 weeks to find it out as some videos are good even without video stabilization

Does OnePlus 6 also support HDR? I know it's not officially stated but YouTube supports HDR on OnePlus 6. I downloaded a few of the demos and tried playing them in VLC. Upon opening, VLC directed me to "allow modifying system settings" to change screen brightness, I'm assuming it was trying to set it to Max. I enabled it and the video is now playing at full brightness in VLC. I was using DCI-P3 color profile. However, after trying to play the video again the brightness is not set to Max. I tried reinstalling VLC and playing the video again, this time I didn't get the prompt to enable system modifications as it was off by default for new apps. So now the video on playing in VLC doesn't set the brightness to Max. Tried giving permission to modify system settings, still not setting brightness to max. I'm assuming upon brightness going all the way, HDR is triggered, as I don't have any other visual indicator in VLC to see if HDR is truly ON.
YouTube HDR works great everytime, high contrast and brightness set to Max automatically.
I don't know if the display of OnePlus 6 is 10bit but that's highly unlikely.
Tried restarting, reinstalling VLC and changing color profiles to DCI-P3. Auto brightness is off, some users reported on other devices it affected HDR auto brightness so I kept it off. Nothing puts brightness to Max upon opening videos in VLC.
I'm on latest OOS 9.0 Stable OTA. I am using 4k HDR demos from 4kmedia.org and I have 4k HDR movie on my device.
Does anyone have working HDR videos on VLC? How did you get it to work and how do you know that it truly is displaying in HDR?
I don't know if any other video player which can display HDR videos as intended on Android. If you know any other video player which works for OnePlus 6 to display HDR then please let me know (and drop a link of possible).
Since I did get the prompt for the first time upon opening HDR video on VLC to allow VLC to set max brightness, I believe that the device just might do it but I'm held back by some software bug.

I have a few questions concerning the quality of video recording on stock and gcam app. Kinda disappointed about the quality, and you maybe able to tell me if it's normal or if I could fix it (first of all, sorry for my english, not my mother tongue).
I found that in 1080 30 fps, outdoor videos, the details are really poor, even with sufficient light. It seems to be "grainy" (1st link below).
Inside videos with low light (my place around 10pm with 1 ceiling light on) are very blurry, especially on the corners. The autofocus is messy (not focusing, or hardly in automatic mode, I have to go through manuel focusing, and it's not always working).
When I switch to 1080p 60 fps, the video is much darker, is that normal ? (I heard it is).
I'm running the beta 6, with the latest gcam port app.
The links I provide are google photos updates.
Do you think it's normal, or the OP6 I own has an hardware issue ?

yes it is.. Disabling EIS helps a lot, but mostly it works without often frame drops using FilmicPro or Open Camera ( this is most stable for video recording).
About fix for a stock camera, I would not put many hopes for it, even Mi 10 Pro with SD 865 does video with stutters. I believe this most of software problem.
Similar to what Dom said. I don't think it's frame drop, it looks like the image EIS stabilisation is getting confused with the scene moving at different speeds. It's probably trying to track train motion and floor motion.
Try again with image stabilisaion disabled. If you need steady footage maybe see if your video editor handles it better.
Also in the low light scenes the EIS gives footage a weird ghosting effect (even the GoPro7 does it).
I wish there was an auto disable EIS in low light option
Shouldnt the OIS help? So its not completely unstabillized? That should work for video as well and maybe evene better?

OIS is always on and cannot be turned off as it's a physical part of the camera sensor. However the OIS level of stabilisation is subtle compared to EIS
