I manages to do a TWRP flashable zip to get SamsungCamera 8 on my S7
It's actually v8.0.12.13 with some cool tweaks
It combine updated Camera APK, camera-feature and media_profiles.xml !
Don't forget to make a nandroid backup
update: 8.0.18.5
Yeah seems to be working good.
But there are two night modes and two panorama modes now in my camera app.
Perhaps just an xml file... Might wanna fix that
What are the difference between 7.6 and 8.0? Can't seem to find anything online...

Hello everyone, please tell me how can I install this camera? I install the zip through twrp, but the camera settings still shows the version 7.6.82
Hi!
Installing through twrp is the right thing to do. Installer remove backup then remove camera 7, install v8 then clear app cache and data.
What phone are you using ?

I have a galaxy s7 sm-g930fd with root, I tried to uninstall the standard camera app with titanium backup, but after reboot it appears again) root explorer refuses to delete the system/priv-app/Samsung camera 7 folder, even with the rights 0777
My installer rename camera 7 apk to non apk.
Do you have Magisk Busybox installed ?

Yes, I have magisk module Bysybox for Android NDK v.1.29.3.
but in root explorer in system / priv-apps there are now two folders: SamsungCamera7 and SamsungCamera8, in the first two files: SamsungCamera7.apk and SamsungCamera7.kpa, but in SamsungCamera8 is only file .replace
Strange... ".kpa" is normal... ".apk" should not be present. May you rename ".apk" in something like ".disable" and remove "SamsungCamera8" folder then reinstall the mod ?

Now I did. The problem was that the camera folders could not be deleted using root explorer with 777 permissions and I used file manager TWRP to do that. After that install mod with wipes and now everything works fine! - Great thanks for the mod and support! ))
Is it for Nougat? Are bitrates or jpeg quality at 100% Can we record in Hevc and 4k HDR ?
hi, sorry i know this has an S9 User interface.. but may I inquire whether photos actually look better?
I'm using Idans 3.3 and the apk size is around 60mb vs this measly 5mb apk size. not sure if it matters but would just like to know if this apk is really any better

That sounds like you have my mod installed (since I add exactly these 2 files). You need to disable my Magisk module to use this, my module uses Samsung Camera 7

Yes, at first I thought that the reason for this, but disabling the module in magisk did not help me, the mod was still not installed
Then I delete in TWRP both folders (camera 7 and camera 8), then flash zip with S.Cam 8, and now I have a working galaxy s7 mod activated in magisk and camera 8 interface in camera app. And now the camera version is 8.0.18.5
And there are still two folders in /system/priv-apps: SamsungCamera7 (with Samsung Camera7.apk inside) and Samsung Camera8 (with SamsungCamera8.apk and .replace inside)
My phone is out of function for now... I'm trying to repair it (flash stock mainly) but without decent internet access it's difficult.

It rename original v7 APK, xml files and install v8 APK and new xml files.

Hi all,
HTC has pushed the eye experience camera app to play store but as with other HTC apps, it is incompatible with our 816.
But that does not mean we cannot have it on our phone.
Follow these simple steps and you can have the eye experience in no time.
1. Root your device (There is a nice thread for it in the General Section or you can watch a video on youtube).
2. Download the HTC Camera apk off the internet and copy it to your SD card (I think uploading of official and closed source apps is not allowed so I am not doing it but you can find it on the internet.)
3. Install Titanium Backup from playstore and grant root privileges to it.
4. Once that is done, uninstall the existing camera app (Make sure you make a backup of it first).
5. Use a file explorer that can access system files (I use ES File Explorer) and place the camera apk (rename the apk to camera.apk)in the system/app folder.
6. Modify the permission of the newly pasted file to Read/Write/Execute and then install the application from there.
It might be possible that your phone might reboot after step 5 but perseverance is the key here my friend. It should work the second time you try it. Just make sure that camera.apk is not there in system/app after titanium backup has finished its job.
Once you are through, you'll get the following new modes:
1. Photo Booth
2. Split Capture
Thankz… @nitinzeon

Ok…. That nice… .but soon will be on google play store… and our phone will be recevieng uptade via play store rather than flashing them…

Your phone is rooted?
Of course rooted and the rom too.
So, in that case, could you please elaborate the exact issue?
Are you able to install the replace the stock apk with the one from play store in /system/app?
If you are, then change the file permission of camera.apk to rwx rwx rwx and install it from the /system folder itself.
One more thing.... use titanium backup to uninstall the original camera so that camera.odex file gets removed too. If it is present in the system folder then the eye experience camera might not work.
In my case i delete stock camera and camera odex from root explorer in system/app folder and then replace new camera set permission and install it .
That's what i've done
Is there any option to have the new camera now without root ?

It should have worked that way.
All right...so..you can try one thing as a last resort.... this should set things straight....
Use titanium backup to convert camera app to user app from system app. Then uninstall camera app like any other app.
Then install the latest camera.apk and you should have it in your app drawer.
One more thing.... I think it is compatible only with a sense rom. There is no harm in trying on another rom though.

You can try installing it like a regular app.
If it works then please leave a comment in this thread. It may help fellow XDAians.
how could we do that wile our phone is s-on? after reboot any changes in system or app need root come back to normal before reboot
This doent look S-on!!… for some variant need root for titanium backup apk while others like mine no need of root just install as normal apk then it update the stock camera… then remain as stock camera…..

In that case @bonczas.... you'll have to wait for official update from HTC.
I pulled the Camera (Camera2), Gallery (HMS_Gallery_GP) and Photo Editor (HMS_PhotoEnhancer_GP) apps from LlabTooFeR's A9 dump (link). I wanted to see if they'd work on my GPE-converted HTC One M8 running Android Marshmallow 6.0 (MRA58K).
Update: I've uploaded a new version that I hope works without needing to flash the APK afterwards. Additionally, at least for me, the Photo Editor is now working, including some of the Duo effects that haven't worked on my GPE for a long time. UFocus and Foregrounder don't appear to be working correctly, but at least they don't FC.
Flashable zip. I use TWRP2. Root is required.
Please note: It's been pointed out to me that the standard GPE image leaves very little space in the system partition. Not enough for the HTC apps, which are sort of large. If you're seeing that the zip isn't flashing correctly, please clear some space on your system partition (removing unwanted System G/Apps), before flashing.
Thanks to Arkaydez for some debugging.
Thanks to danial.aw for pointing out issues with GPE system partition size.
Post back with your experience. I'd like to know if it's working for everyone.

Thanks for giving it a try and feeding back. Feeling like helping me debug it?
Here's my experience when I flash it:
- When the phone restarts, there is a permission request waiting for the Gallery app.
- When you start the camera app, it requests three permissions.
- The applications and their associated libraries are installed to:
/system/priv-app/Camera2/
/system/priv-app/HMS_Gallery_GP/
/system/priv-app/HMS_PhotoEnhancer_GP/
Does your experience reflect that?
Thanks!
2 days ago I just downloaded this A9 camera from Google Play. It installed normally, for first run it asked for permission and work great. But every next open cause FC. Anyway, I think that original camera app from M8 is better, it is also to download from GP and doesn't FC.
I flashed the zip and Apps isnt shown in the menu. So I opened the zip and installed the apk's manually. Camera and Photo Editor gave FC. Gallery is opened but didnt show any pic.
Didnt work for me.

You can't install the apks manually, unfortunately. They need to go into priv-app, since they require system permissions. That's what's causing the FCs. If you've installed them, and they're sitting in /system/app, you can move them (root explorer, etc.) to /system/priv-app. Then at least the camera and gallery should work.

Interesting. Unfortunately, for me, when I go to Google Play, it tells me that both versions of the HTC camera (Camera and Camera2) are incompatible with my phone and won't let me install. I assumed that's because it was a GPE. If you download and install from APK Mirror, or install it from the market somehow, I think that it puts the APKs and libraries into /system/app, which will cause it to FC. The camera assumes it's pre-installed into /system/priv-app, and is therefore entitled to system permissions. When it's installed to /system/app, it makes system storage calls, which aren't allowed, and FCs.
That's why I thought the flashable zip would be the way to go.
I was able to avoid all the FC's by 1st flashing your zip and then installing the a9 cam apk from apk mirror. b

Thanks for that. I had previously installed the APK from APK mirror, so maybe there's some secret sauce missing from the zip. Does the Photo Editor work for you now, or does it still FC?

I'm not sure. Have you tried the new (v2) zip? Did it prompt you for permissions for storage? The camera should have prompted you for 4 permissions, and the gallery for 1.

Hey,
I just installed cm13.1 by Team Superluminal on my mi4c. Somehow I can't find snapdragon Camera on my device. Can someone please post a flashable zi for the app. Regards
It's already the default camera app. No need to flash anything. To enable some more advanced feature though, tap 7 times on Screen Brightness option and it will unlock additional setting.
For me it is not installed the only camera app I can find is the Google camera. I used the open GApps stock package. Maybe this somehow replaces the default camera app?

So can anybody please extract the snapcamera app as zip or apk and post it here. Would help me a lot. I think it's possible using fe titanium backup.
Edit I tried reflashing the rom without GApps. No changes : Google camera remains the standard camera apk

You need to wipe before reflashing the ROM, otherwise Google Camera may remain.
Use a version of the GApps that does not contain Google Camera. Google Camera replaces your default Snapdragon Camera: https://github.com/opengapps/opengapps/wiki/Package-Comparison

Do Moto and Moto Camera force close in the latest nightlies of LineageOS? I have the fix.
Get into TWRP and mount /system/
Then go to /system/framework/
You will see some .jar files starting with "com.motorola.XXX". Just remove them (ONLY THE com.motorola FILES).
Restart your device and it will work.
If Moto Camera doesn't record, uninstall current Moto Camera and flash the camera from here. Thanks to @Alberto97. It installs the camera as a system app and it configures permissions.
If for some reason you erase the wrong file and LineageOS doesn't work, just reinstall the build.
If you have some force closes of something called "Motorola Settings" or similar, just uninstall it with a system app uninstaller.
If it works for you, please tell me in this thread. Thanks to @dimusa .

You won't have any problem changing the ROM or getting back to stock because you are only removing some files from LineageOS/AOSP (and similar ROM) which makes some camera apps not working.
I got back to stock to try some kernels and I didn't have any problem.

I think that deleting those moto files affects the focusing methods - originally done with both laser focus and phase detect auto-focus (PDAF).
The "normal" focus in Lineage/Cyanogen is contrast-detection, the weakest method (and power intensive).
