https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/rom-miui-9-7-8-28-29-batch-t3665305/amp/
Maybe MIUI 9 with Android Lolipop 5.0.1
Haha
I don't have much expectation from this update.

MIUI9 Global Beta ROM 7.9.7 Released for Mi4i - http://en.miui.com/thread-809159-1-1.html
EDIT1 : Just tried it out. Full of bugs. No "lightning fast app launches". Android lollipop 5.0. It seems to be a theme over MIUI8. Piece of crap MIUI.

True.. its F***** worst rom ever ...
i have use this rom, it's verry verry lag, still based on lollipop, LOL
OK ... now I just installed the new Global Dev ROM - 7.9.15 and so far it seems much better. Speaker bug is resolved and it is much smoother than MIUI8 or previous (buggy) build. Animations are missing ... let's hope the next version re-introduces them.

Well, r4p was listed on third batch for global beta earlier, then discarded from the list(second last announcement) then added again. So, can't be too hopeful for it yet.

The MIUI9 Beta China is MM, so, if Xiaomi release the global, will be MM also.

This is why we cannot have a nice thing, another device with same spec only larger screen get updated to nougat. Another cheap one with less powerful spec get updated to nougat.
My next device will likely xiaomi previous flagship or devices from another OEM that have better kernel, source release so I can see active development. Maybe Moto or Oneplus.

It's true but that is not a reason to abandon several months old devices, every big OEM should have follow 2 major android release support.
Or atleast 1 major android release should be enough.
Think how would you dissapoint if you buy newest android 7.1.2 device only to learn after half year later that your device will not get update to 8.0.
Xiaomi isn't small OEM, they have resources to bring MIUI 9 to work with Mi2 (5 years old flagship). So why cannot they work on newer device?

People still look for r4p, so can't say it isn't sold pretty well. Xiaomi cut off r4p production, who knows why! And now they are ignoring it to give major android upgrade.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-5/development/rom-mi-a1-aosp-port-redmi-5-plus-t3754940
Mi note 3 & Mi6X/MiA2 has the same Snapdragon 660 chipset. As MiA1 rom has been ported for Redmi 5 plus,I think ,MI6X Oreo ROM can also be ported for Mi note 3.& Mi 6x camera software is far better than mi note 3 as it can take front camera portrait & multiple AI scene filters & recognition. It would be great if any developer could look into this & kindly port it from Mi 6x.
Regards
I think it is too much work and it can't be better than GCam ports. Last Arnova port have even touch to focus working try it out.

I am satisfied with Arnova's Gcam ports.i was talking about porting the Android Oreo MIUI rom or stock Android ROM from miA2 after the release. It would be great to have a stock Android port.
I'm not a fan of stock Android, so let's see from MIUI POV: What (dis)advantages do you think we will get from Oreo MIUI?
Any port of Google Camera 7.0 (From Pixel 4 ) that worked on Mi Mix 3 yet ?

On YouTube. I installed the miui port from RN5P and this ROM is Very good in my use, this ROM uses kernel Mystic oc(or not If you prefer)
I've installed it and it's very smooth, I found the original dev and it seems that he's not that excited to make future ports. I'll ask him if I can make a thread on XDA about this rom
