A list of bugs since upgrading to Android 9 Pie / December Security Patch - Nokia 6.1 (2018) Guides, News, & Discussion

Navigation bar stays white in apps with dark mode enabled (youtube, android messages, etc) (Changing notification bar from Automatic to Black did not fix either.)
The timezone gets reset to EST if the phone gets disconnected from WIFI.
Youtube videos alternate in height by about 20 pixels producing an ugly flicker/flashing effect. (This only happens if the google keyboard is open while a video is playing in portrait view.)
Unlocking the phone with "ok google" does not work when enabled.
The center home button (inside circle) is not centered correctly, and looks atrocious.
WIFI calling doesn't work. I have it set to WIFI calling preferred and am using AT&T as my carrier. (Tested by turning on airplane mode with WIFI enabled.)
If there's anything I missed, feel free to add to the list.

VoLTE (or HD Voice) used to work fine with AT&T and doesn't anymore. Wi-Fi Calling never worked with AT&T last time I checked.

White navbar: can confirm, I just tried it with YouTube, but I use white theme...
Time zone: is always as it should, I use automatic time zone
YT videos flicker: it looks normal here, I think
Unlocking with OK Google: it never worked for me with screen turned off, also on Oreo, if screen is on, but the phone is still locked, it works. If I'm not wrong, it should not work on our device.
Home buton: yes it is not centered
WiFi calling: can't tell, my operator does not support it for all devices, only for few.

[Q] Problem with screen flashing black

I have recently discovered a weird issue with my Galaxy S2 LTE on Rogers Wireless...Whenever it changes network modes (ex: driving in a car as it switches between EDGE, 4G, and LTE based on coverage in area) it causes the screen to go black for a second. It happens while in any app, like if I'm browsing, the screen will flash black for about 1 second then back to whatever I was viewing as it switches networks. If the phone is on the home screen and switches network modes, the home screen will rotate to landscape mode and appear to be zoomed in and then go black before switching back to portrait - which is very weird because stock touchwhiz does not rotate home screens.
I have done a factory reset and gyro calibration and still have same issue. If the phone isn't switching network modes it works 100%.
I'm running ICS 4.04. Phone is not rooted.
Any thoughts???
PS - this issue is especially annoying because at my house my phone gets weak LTE signal so it switches between 4G and LTE frequently. Yes I can prevent this by changing the network settings but I find this problem troubling; is it hardware or software???

[APP][FREE][2.2+] IntelliCover - Proximity Sensor Based Screen Control (And MORE)

Finally got my app up and running on the Market and being a die hard xda user, I thought it would only be appropriate to post it here for fellow users to enjoy. =)
IntelliCover is a utility which uses your device’s proximity sensor to control its display and allow fast and efficient access to your phone or tablet.
It turns the screen turns off automatically when you put your device in your pockets, close its flip cover, store the device in a bag, or even just leave the device facing down on a table. As soon as the device is back in your hand the proximity sensor is triggered again, the screen turns back on and your phone is instantly ready for use.
IntelliCover is more feature-filled than any other similar application on the market. And the best part? It's FREE!
Click here to visit the market page and download the app for free
P.S. If you find a bug, I'd appreciate if you could report it to me before giving a bad rating because it usually only takes me less than a day to fix.

*** Frequently Asked Questions ***
Q) Is it really free? Where are the ads?
Ans) IntelliCover is completely free and has no ads whatsoever!
Q) Do I require a rooted device to use IntelliCover?
Ans) Nope. IntelliCover works on all supported phones and tablets, rooted or unrooted.
Q) Doesn’t using the proximity sensor consume a lot of battery?
Ans) Actually, the proximity sensor consumes minimal power, almost little enough to be insignificant.
Q) What are the ‘Screen On’ and ‘Screen Off’ actions?
Ans) IntelliCover allows you to set events to be triggered when the screen turn on or off. For example, by setting wi-fi to turn on when your screen turns on and setting it to turn off when the screen turns off, you could save a huge amount of battery power.
Q) Can I request a feature?
Ans) Of course! Head over to the Contact section to drop me an e-mail.
Q) Why does IntelliCover keep running in the background?
Ans) It has to run in the background to know when the proximity sensor is triggered.
Q) Can I donate to the developer?
Ans) Not yet but hopefully I’ll have something set up soon.

Hello! I love the app! I just installed it, and it works great so far keep up your good work!
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using xda premium
Seems good, some questions though.
1. Is it supposed to be able to turn the screen on? Take phone out of pocket, proximity sensor detects values that indicate there's nothing near (Sorry, dunno how / what values are calculated / used) and viola, screen on?
2. Dunno if I've set it up incorrectly. But, currently, if I turn on my screen, via the power button (Sony Xperia S), the stock lockscreen will show, and either one of two things will happen. Either I unlock it successfully, and the split second I'm completing the unlock, the phone will screen off, and engage the lockscreen - after unlocking this, can I get into my phone. OR it'll do what I've previously mentioned, without input.

Yup, it turns the screen on as well. The values are pretty much just FAR and NEAR for most proximity sensors, so once it detects that there's no object close to it, it should turn the screen on. If it's not turning on at all, that might be the root of the problem i.e. it might be causing the unlock issue as well...Hmmm...I checked out your phone specs and since you said "stock lockscreen", I think it's safe to assume you're on the stock ROM but are you still on Gingerbread? If so, that partially explains the issue. Some Gingerbread ROMs have compatibility issues with the app that are very similar to what you've described, I have no idea why but I'm still looking into it. I had to fix ALOT of Gingerbread issues to get it working this far lol. If you're not on GB though, I guess I need to hunt for an Xperia and begin testing/debuggin. :fingers-crossed:
HUGE update released! V2.0 Hope you all like it. =)
Thanks a lot for sharing your app, it looks grate but unfortunately it is not working with my Galaxy note 10.1

I like it! Works fine in my SII stock rom. It will be perfect if i could enable a sound notification when turns off the screen. Not really necessary but cool 4 me (car unlock beep-beep)
Thanks mate!
Frank
thanks for the update
working good.
I'm working on adding a widget and changing the design, but if anyone has any better suggestions, I'd love to hear them because design is not as important as functionality.
Love it. great app, and working fine on both my LG Optimus 3D and Samsung Galaxy Note II.
could we have a choice on the notification icon, would be nice to have a small black dot or something. i just like a empty notification bar but understand the need for it to actually be in the notification bar
thanks
other than that this is my fav ap on my phone
won't this drain battery

Yea, it's unfortunate that foregrounding requires the notification icon. You could try using the app without foregrounding, it works for some people. Adding more notification icons should be easy, won't take much time. =) Which ones do you think I should add? A small black dot would disappear on most black status bars (but it'll look like there's an empty space in the status bar so it'll look a little weird)...

The proximity sensor uses very little battery and the app itself is pretty light (4-5MB RAM). So far I've only gotten one deep sleep complaint out of 3500+ downloads but no battery issues.
im fine with the black dot, it will keep my bar looking empty

Finally! Found a way to completely remove the icon and the notification from the status bar when the app is foregrounded. It'll be in the next update (today or tomorrow). It can still be enabled manually from the Notifications section but yea, enjoy the emptiness of your status bar. xP
Pretty Huge Update. Hope you like it!
Version 3.0
-Added Screen On Fix for some phones (Enable in settings)
-Status Bar Notification/Icon will no longer automatically show up when app is foregrounded.
-Added Pocket Mode
-Added Table Mode
-Added Widget
-Fixed Screen On/Off Actions bug
One thing I notice (which is NO WHERE CLOSE to a big deal)
The launcher I use (Nova) I hide the status bar and use a gesture to bring it down. When ever Intellicover turns the screen on, the status quickly shows itself and then goes back hidden, not more than a half second of this, but I cannot select anything on the screen until after that status bar thing happens
I like the concept of the app, and it works fine with my sensors. I have one complaint though, I don't like how when the phone screen turns on, it opens to the Intellicover App. Sure I can set it to go to the home screen, but I don't always want that. Once Intellicover is running, I don't want to ever see it again unless I manually launch it from the app drawer. If I have Chrome open and I have to suddenly put my phone down or in my pocket, I'd like to pull my phone back out and have Chrome still be on the screen, just like happens now using the sleep button.
Turns my dumb flip cover on my note 2 into a smart cover. Thanks

Actually, that shouldn't be happening. Once set you never have to see it again. I'm not quite sure what could be triggering this but if you could provide a little information about the OS/phone model/etc. I could try to get a hold on the device and try to replicate the error...

[Q] Questions about CM10 FXP on Xperia J

I've recently got Xperia J and flashed it with FXP 206 and then moved to FXP 207.
I love it, but i've encountered some bugs that are said to be "officially fixed" or there are no mentions abut them at all.
1. In Settings->More...->Mobile Networks->Network Operators should be list of available network operators. Unfortunately there are some lines, but each of them is labeled as "Unknown". On lock screen, operator name is displayed correctly.
2. While Charging, notification led displays battery state correctly (red while low, yellow, and green when full), but any notification (missed call, application notification, low battery) makes LED pulse pink/violet (blue+red, red slightly shorter, you can observe color go blue at the end of each pulse). You cannot modify that behavior in display settings (pulse length nor color can be successfully set).
3. Offline charging, "Fixed since FXP 204", does not work.
4. Camera (Gallery) Force Closes after recording a video. Starts working after deleting video (problem with creating thumbnail for camera? Camera shows thumbnail of previous picture just before FC)- Known problem. Is there any fix? Camera MX crashes right after clicking "camera" icon.
5. Phone eats through battery really fast. 1,5 day with phone lying on my desk, 2 SMS messages received, no WiFi, 2G mobile network with high signal level. Battery stats show surfaceflinger (Android System) to consume 40% of energy.
6. Music stutters. I know, it is known problem, but maybe someone has some solution. (I have used ROM provided by adfad666, music was crystal clear, but lock screen was lagging - sometimes for more than 30 seconds - and receiving phonecall made the interface freeze, ringtone to stutter, and after that device rebooted. Every time i tried).
7. Less serious bug: sometimes after turning GPS on and starting some app which uses it (any app, ranging from Sygic Navigator to Google Maps or GPS Essentials), the GPS icon does not show up, and only network location is used. After reboot everything works fine (same place, so not a problem with GPS signal level).
Any helpful hints about problems mentioned here?

Screen turing pale and no internet despite of full network

Hi All,
Just wondering if I am the only one facing these issues:
Issue 1 : In auto brighness mode many time the screen turns pale yellow or bright white with very little bluish tint. To resolve the issue I have to change the brightness level or enable outdoor mode for a second (essentially changing the screen brightness). This happens at least once in a week. Please help
Issue 2: This is more annoying one. Many time I observer that even though the network strength full and little arrows below 4G keeps blinking (both ways) my device is not able to connect to network. When this happens most of the times I have to either restart the phone (works in 95% of cases) or I have to put the phone in airplane mode and back (works only 50% times), but sometimes it works after spending few frustrated minutes (without even moving away from the spot)
I am planning to take it to service center but scared of the fact that I will have setup my phone all over again after the visit . Any help will be appreciated.

Workaround for Android Auto freezing on Oppo

Appears to be an issue with the Always on Display. Disabling that should resolve the issue.
See detail below;
Frozen screen - Android Auto Community
by the way feel free to spam their support email as this issue has been going on too long!
[email protected]
Solution : enable developer options, and enable keep screen on while charging.
yup screen on = no Always on display..
though also battery and burn in aint good...
Screen will remain on, but brightness will drop to minimum level as the phone is left idle. When looking at the phone while driving, it looks almost off, the home screen is barely visible.
would be great if someone could build a tasker or Automate task that turned off AOD when AA is running.. though you prob need Root..
Anyone having a issue after C62 update of it just now not connecting at all?
jipp here.
android auto refuses the connection after the update.
My head unit is trying to connect while oppo is asking which usb type should be choosen (load/ android auto/mtp or so)
Selecting android auto results in a connection abort and a short vibration.
Already cleared app data, cache and even reinstalled android auto with no effort.
wow oppo really sucks..
just got CPH2025_11_C.53 - android auto is working flawless again

I'm sorry, made a typo, meant: CPH2025_11_C.63
Hi guys,
I have a Find X2 Lite with CPH2005VF_11_C_78..
after the android 11 update android auto start to freeze switching apps (ex from maps to spotify a 15 seconds black sceen) or when navigating has to turn direction (the cursor start flickering and after a while the navigation resume).
Is this a similar problem to yours? any suggestion?
my oppo f1s always turn off even after restart, how to fix my boss?
Images on the lock screen, crash the Android Auto. It is an OS problem. Here is what to do, till the problem is solved :
-Go to Settings, Security, Smart Lock and and your car a trusted device. That way you have your phone unlocked while driving and fingerprint disappears.
(You can also remove fingerprint from lock screen by going to Settings, Passwords & Biometrics, Fingerprint, Screen-off unlock and select off, but then you have to wake up your phone before being able to use fingerprint)
-Go to Settings, ..Always-On Display, Always-On Display and disable it. (You can also select Always-On Display with battery saver, which turns off image after some seconds, but on those seconds, the Andriod Auto is crashed)
@[email protected]$#[email protected]& OnePlus, OPPO and Color OS...
Same thing at OnePlus 8T with OxygenOS 12 (which is ColorOS 12).
After update to 12 I still have some problems with AA. Now phone is totally unusable (totally laggy or black screen) when connected to AA and after when disconnected - must wait ca. 5 min or restart phone.
But... After reading this tread I turn off AOD. And stil same. Then I turn off also fingerprint reader at turned off display. And... Everything works perfectly
Will test AOD on, FP on and Smart Lock at my car. But OPPO is a joke...
