Mi unlock status shows wrong info.. - Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro Questions & Answers

I'm using latest global stable 10.0.5.0 rom.
I unlocked bootloader, installed DM verity patch and installed Pitchblack recovery.
Installed Camera2Api zip and magisk 18.
After these, I looked at the device unlock status at developer settings page.
But, what I see, It shows my device is locked. I can bind account, and I can enable the option gives permission to unlock. It seems my device locked as previous.
But, I checked the status with fastboot commands. And it writes unlock status : true. And I can install everything, root works, Uninstall any program etc. I know the device is unlocked. But, why it shows wrong info (locked) in developer settings?
Did I anything wrong, or is it normal?

I'm having the same problem.

I was also having this problem. but when placing the device in the miunlock, it was unlocked normally.

My device is unlocked too. I can install any rom/update with TWRP without problem. But it shows wrong info (locked) in developeroptions/mi unlock status.

Did it wipe the data again ? I mean it just unlocked the device without wiping internal storage OR you've to go through the whole process of rooting again?

I did not wipe the date again and also did not do the root process again. only checked if the bootloader was still unlocked.

I just checked my device with mi unlock. It see it as a locked device. I saw a warning that unlocking my device will ERASE DATA. so I didn't go further & disconnected my device.

if your device is locked as on the miunlock tool I think you'll have to do it again anyway. mine is unlocked according to the tool. this occurred to me with Redmi Note 3 that in the developer options also showed for some time that the device was locked. it must be a system error because then the correct information appeared.

But I've checked with fastboot method & it showed my device bootloader as unlocked.
BTW Did u get that "your device is unlocked" on the miunlock tool as soon as you connected the device in fastboot ? Or did you also see that "unlock will erase data" warning first ?

I can't wait anymore, and flashed global beta rom 8.12.27 with Miflash tool. But I didn't notice the option "clean all and lock" selected at the bottom. Flashing process finished without any problems.
But my device is now locked again. It shows locked when I checked with fastboot commands.
I can bind account in developer options. I tried to unlock again, but mi unlock tool gives me error: "The phone has not been used for the specified time and cannot be unlocked. Wait for 7 days and try again."
Now I'm waiting for 7 days, after that will try again...

first you have to associate your mi account with the device in the developer options. done that, wait 15 days to use the miunlock toll with device in fastboot mode.

Reference to original issue ..."Mi unlock status shows wrong info.."
i too have same issue on Redmi Note 9S Global version. Perhaps Magisk is trying to hide that the phone is actually unlocked.

Xiaomi redmi note 6 pro unbrick
Xiaomi redmi note 6 pro unbrick without authorized mi account! No need bootloader unlock

Today I realized the same thing on my Poco F2 Pro. Device seems locked. Today I turned to stock ROM from Xiaomi.eu with Mi flash but I didn't choose lock option. I chose clean all and then flashed.
I think it is because of the checkpoint configuration on Mi Flash program. I removed Bootloader -s lock" kind of something before flashing since the previous flash finished a bootloader unlocked kind of error.
Device may see itself as locked since Mi Flash finishes without checking the lock status. It should be try and see result. But I can't do that since I all restored my apps, settings etc.

"Your device has been unlocked and can't be trusted"

So after unlocking bootloader correctly, i receive this message each time i boot.
"your device has been unlocked and can't be trusted", and then the device boots normally after.
I have now flashed TWRP via fastboot, booted into recovery, wiped, and flashed KangVIP Slim.
I still see that same message each time i reboot. Is it normal, and if so, is there a way to get rid of it?
We all had the same message after unlocking bootloader.... It is normal and can't be removed as far as I know...
If you relock the bootloader it disappears.
I get the same message. It goes to huawei erecovery though I have tried installing twrp through fastboot. I get a message saying "okay" but still goes to huawei recovery. Any idea?

eRecovery is there for a reason and will not be overwritten by TWRP. If you want to boot into TWRP (and you are certain that you flashed it successfully), your phone must be switched off altogether. Then press "vol up" and after that "power". Release the power switch after the screen comes on but keep the volume key pressed until TWRP appears.
That should do the trick (I hope )
either that or download flashify from the playstore and choose to reboot into recovery

Or simply press up plus down as only down does not work (reliably / here). I always end up in the E-rec.

Geez honestly not sure if you will lose data or not..If you do lock it, be sure to go to developers option and disable OEM unlock so you have the protection function.

You said earlier it came like this? Did you buy this phone and then you turned it on and this happened? It's very important you explain as best as you can so I can help you properly.
The phone was simlocked . Someone unlocked it (he unlocked the bootloader and then unlocked it with a box) . The phone was then sold to a customer who said that he wanted to update OTA . Then the phone became bricked .

If you try to unlock the bootloader with fastboot flashing unlock does it work or do you get an error? If you can't unlock the bootloader and flash the full factory image, you will likely have to try to get it replaced by Google.

If you brick your phone with a locked bootloader it wasn't your fault. Nothing you can do to it, can't root it, can't mod it. Just like any other locked phone. If it dies, send it to them for warranty.

No, basically everything you described was a terrible idea and it makes zero sense to intentionally lock the bootloader of a phone you just finished hooking up to a black box to forcibly modify software.
Never lock the bootloader of a modified device, that is just a given.

Well there is that and then there's the fact that the pixel is carrier unlocked. Sounds like this guy had no clue what he was doing with this phone. Also like to know what "box" you hooked the phone up to
Has the original poster tried to unlock bootloader again? The pic in the OP shows fastboot. That looks potentially hopeful. Hope that OTA wasn't 7.1.2
Hopefully the seller was legit, maybe the phone is still under warranty??? Waiting sucks, but if it's under warranty you can fix it for free. Might be worth the wait. If not if that's not an option...
I'm guessing this is a Verizon phone? If so, start worrying, bit don't quit, unless you are prepared to spend more money on a new phone. As long as you have fastboot, you have options.

Mi unlock Error: "couldn't unlock the device", "try again in 1 day(s)"

Mi unlock Error: "couldn't unlock the device", "try again in 1 day(s)"
I unlocked my device some time ago. And used unlocked for a while. But 10 days ago I installed global beta rom with Miflash, and forgot to change "clean all and lock" option while flashing.
Of course my device locked again. I immediately tried to unlock again. But gave me an error "you need to use your device a bit longer to proceed. Try again in 7 days" at 99% level.
I was shoecked but waited for 7 days. Yesterday I tried to unlock again. But gave me same error again with 1 day option: "you need to use your device a bit longer to proceed. Try again in 1 day".
Today I tried again. But still gives this wait for 1 day error and says "Couldn't unlock the device".
What can I do to unlock my device?
Is there any opinion for this error. Really need help. Thanks...
It's a sensitive process. Be patient. Don't screw with your MiCloud. Don't tamper with permissions of system apps. Don't log out or remove the device from your account.
Once you manage to unlock it again, uninstall MiFlash. You should only be using TWRP or fastboot if you don't want to get locked.
Fixed the situation today and get unlocked.
I figured it out that it is because of enabling "OEM unlocking" in developer options wasn't working.
I noticed that, I enabe this option but when I return to developer options after a while, it was disabled again. On last time I triedto enable it 2-3 times again and again. And waited for 1-2 minutes, then a warning message appeared at the bottom. After I accept that warning, this option stayed enabled whenever I entered to developer optons again.
After this change, Device unlocked without any error...
I solved this downgrading mi flash

I just waited 7 days for unlock, then there comes also the error message ""couldn't unlock the device", "try again in 1 day(s)". After choosing an older Mi-Unlock Tool it works, just unlocked my great Mi 9!
Older version of the Mi Unlock app worked for me too, thanks a lot !
If I can unlock Bootloader, will it reset phone to default?
amazing - this worked perfect for me:
had the same issue: i was told to wait for 7 days. after 7 days i should use it a bit longer ( 2 more days to wait), after 2 days it was the same message with version: miflash_unlock-en-3.5.724.32 and redmi note 7 4/64 global.
after downloading version: miflash_unlock-en-2.3.803.10 - it all worked out fine - thanks alot!
Same here! Downgrading to version 2.3.803.10 made unlock possible instead waiting 3 more days!
Anyone facing this issue just downgrade too the older version, it will bypass the 3 extra days of waiting. Worked for me too

[Help] I bricked my device

So, I ****ed up.
TL;DR: My device is locked with no way to unlock it.
Got it today, wanted to flash a ROM. So I install TWRP, all fine. I reset everything, also format, then of course my zip on internal storage is gone too. So I put it on a SD card and reboot the phone to recovery again. But I can't, because after wiping it just shows "system destroyed" or something. So I panic. Then I realize I can flash stock ROM via MI flash tool, do that, install TWRP again. But I still can't flash because the version is too low. So I decide to flash stock again, do an update and try again. But this time I forgot to turn off "clean and lock" in the MI flash tool. So now the bootloader is locked and no stock ROM is installed. So I try to use the MI unlock flash tool, add phone to account, but no, because I didn't sign it at first it won't let me unlock because "your account isn't associated with this device". And now I can't do anything.
Is there anything I can do now apart from this testpoint method? I don't really wanna take the back off, I'm afraid of breaking it. Also the next Xiami store is like 800km from me and I don't wanna send it back cause it already took 2 months here and I paid 60 euros to customs.
I would really appreciate any help you could offer me. Thanks in advance!

If you have selected clean all & lock then your phone have booted to os, i think you locked the bootloader before flashing because bootloader lock command runs after firmware installation is complete

3. I skipped adding it in the first place cause I never really wanted to use the stock software, it's too china for me
4. I flashed after wiping in TWRP, it "completed", as it didn't show completion but the phone rebooted to stock recovery and stayed there, displaying "this MIUI version can't be installed" or something like that.

That may be true, but maybe that's cause it didn't succeed in installing MIUI this time, see other comment to where it is now

1. The bootloader was already unlocked as I got it.
2. I can boot into fastboot mode
3. I skipped adding it in the first place cause I never really wanted to use the stock software, it's too china for me
4. I flashed after wiping in TWRP, it "completed", as it didn't show completion but the phone rebooted to stock recovery and stayed there, displaying "this MIUI version can't be installed" or something like that.

since your phone is not associated with a mi account, u might need customer care support.
u said bootloader was already unlocked.
if u bought a used phone ask the original user for mi id+pass to unlock bootloader again

Ok since you have reached point where only a service centre visit can unlock it, I suggest you use an authorised account! I believe there are people online who accept payment in return for unlocking the bootloader (I have no idea how to find them tho, sorry)
These accounts are rare and are used by service centres to unlock bootloaders and stuff..and which TWRP did you even use? Use Peter's, the official one is **** and doesn't support decryption.

U should buy a deep flash cable or u may make it at home.(search on youtube). Clean flash stock fastboot rom from mi flash in edl (emergency download mode). It will flash successfully. Then set up a mi account ( may be cratate a new one to unlock the bl). Then give try to mi unlock tool.
Note - suggest to buy a deep flash cabel instead for home made.
U may done flashing in edl mode only because bl is locked now.
A year ago i also forget to deselect clean and lock option and locked my bl accidently but i used above method and get success.

Actually while flashing it locks the bootloader after complete installation is done, so might be you first locked the bootloader you can check the script in fastboot rom

So I tried this, and it did not work either with edl mode, it is still asking me for my account, which isn't affiliated with that device.

My customer have an "indian version"miui on his note7 pro (China version) with unlock bootloader, after a while he flash twrp and flash "HAVOC" OS to it, it's work fine...but few days ago he want to change back to indian stock, he forget to switch the "flash and lock" to flash_all unlock...of cos, it fail and get to recovery show "This miui version can't be installed on this device", I really dunno WTF he is doing this! I try to flash it buy theree method already, EDL is unsuccessful it need an authorize account; Miflash Tool Pro, flash recovery rom it shows " Couldn't verify, looks like current ROM's network carrier type is different from that in the Recovery package..."
V10.3.8.0 and 10.3.10.0 got the same result; the third try is actually the XiaoMi adb method, someone is success to save their redmi note 5 by that...but as i try it on N7 pro it fail...!

Have you tried to unlock using mi unlock?
If the devices was unlocked officially, you should be able to unlock again immediately without asking for the permission.

---------- Post added at 10:20 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:18 AM ----------
The way Of xiaomi doing this is protective but stupid...and make us stupid too haha, so that's why I always tell my FD not to relock it after changing ROM...!

me too...
how we can unlock phone without test point?
Does anyone know how to solve this problem?
Hello. first of all you have to remove the back to be able to put the phone in edl mode. then you need to find someone with an account authorized to install a rom stock china for which you will have to pay. I paid $ 15. then you will need to associate the phone with your me account and unlock the bootloader. nothing else works. for a month I lost my nights trying dozens. until I paid everything was in vain. or you have the option of an authorized service, but I am convinced that it will cost you more. success.

If you're able to access to EDL mode, you should be able to flash using QFIL tools instead of MiFlash. Something like this

(Answered) TWRP installed despite bootloader being locked?

How come this is possible?

I just realized that when I boot up the phone, it shows the "Redmi by Xiaomi" and below it says unlocked, (IDK if it has any relation). But the Developer options say that BL is locked and OEM Unlocking can be enabled. What does this mean?
This is same with me miui 11 stockrom
Magisk flashing creats bootloader locked
If i uninstall magisk it show unlocked again
Even Netflix installation works by this in playstore

Well that's cos at one point you had unlocked your bootloader and might have dirty flashed MIUI or used fastboot images, which aren't able to recognise the state. But in reality it remains unlocked and it just shows locked in the settings.

Yes true. It is unlocked. The unlocked message at boot verifies that bl is unlocked.

I apologize if this is a bit too late, but I have a follow up question. Can I try to unlock the bootloader even if it's really unlocked just to connect my account to my phone or something like that?

If it's unlocked, the Mi account is already linked tho.
Even if you try you won't see a difference, maybe the unlocked symbol might come up.

Woah. Unauthorised seller eh. Are you sure you are running the Orginal MIUI? The reason Xioami started locking away the bootloader was cos of these unauthorised sellers, unlocking the device and flashing it with an outdated ROM. You should try, Go to Developer settings, link your current Mi account and then proceed to unlock. Or if it says an acc is already linked, lock the bootloader (only if on MIUI Stock, Custom ROM would lead to a bootloop), and now go link your account. (Do take backups before proceeding)

Well, I did flash the latest MIUI Indian Global ROM a few weeks back so maybe I am running Original MIUI?
But I'm still gonna try to "unlock" it. And is there an option to keep all data after the unlock?
EDIT: I just read the Mi Unlock Tool's disclaimer and how they say some features won't work after the unlock. I mean, I know mine is unlocked but I think I'll just keep those features.

Usually the first time you unlock it wipes your internal storage , but it doesn't wipe it in the subsequent unlocks (as far as I've tried). Yep it doesn't actually affect any system functions.. everything is as smooth as before..Find my device works fine as well..the only risk is that if your device gets stolen they could easily wipe MIUI and bypass that account lock by flashing a custom ROM.
