It worked for me. I was on 153 version but I had to setup country and language for hicare. After 2 days checking for updates it finally showed the request update page. I'm already on emui 9.
Im emui 9 now. And there's no dark theme/mode it's so white probably going to hurt SOT.
Nice to know that the beta feedback wasn't even listened to.... No dark mode, the recent apps screen goes a strange blue colour sometimes as well as not letting you tap an app to the left or right to select it, apps randomly close when using them even when you've turned on manual battery management, the list goes on... Left feedback for all of these on the beta app but never heard anything back so what was the point??

I dont think so. Honor 10 got IPS LCD screen, so all part of the screen is illuminated, unlike AMOLED.
But white notification panel is damn annoying. Kinda sorry for upgrading to 159.

Then you're either lucky or have an unlocked bootloader. There's no update here since 151. Probably we're a forgotten region here...
Also, there's no such thing az 153, even on FF.

nope.... its still locked, no system modification. EMUI 9 has been rolling in asia pacific region since (about) last week.
my phone is COL-L29C636 btw
maybe huawei is using different version number for europe region.

Yes, I'm from Brazil. Change your system language to something other than pt-br. Clean app data and turn off location. When you fire the app again just set up the region. After that you can set your system language back to whatever you want. The app will keep the language you set.

Firmware Finder is showing MHA-L29C432B362 (8.0.0.362) FullOTA-MF for my Mate 9. Update is not showing up under "System Update" or in HiCare.
Question, is it ok to install from Firmware Finder or does that has any influence on further OTA updates from Huawei?

I know, the Huawei update system is goofy. All the devices are the same, so from a hardware standpoint any Mate 9 firmware should be allowed. Huawei should let the users decide what they want to flash. Yes, your average user should just get the standard updates but there should be an option like unlocking Developer Settings and clicking a switch "Allow any firmware".
Which firmware are you running at the moment? I have 360 and the 361 and 362 don't seem to have any real improvements other than some security updates and improved WiFi.

I had C432B361 but rebranded to C636 and now on B362
Damn, Firmware Finder is showing MHA-L29C432B362 (8.0.0.362) -not supported for your device- but no sign of an update for my device
All the 432 firmwares are listed for my device but none are approved for installation and the firmware finder won't install them as a result.

Right, same here, don't get it.
has been the same with my mate 9 ever since I bought it (on release). Huawei updates are kinda strange to put it mildy. and I don't want to get bothered with unlocked bootloaders and updates through all kind of alternative update servers and such. it is what it is, phone is running ok so we have to be patient.

Did you have to down grade to Nougat before doing the upgrade?
I'm on 636 B360 using this TWRP: twrp_android_o_mate9_a1.img which is 3.1.1.0 and when I run the update.bat nothing happens after I reboot to TWRP.
For a couple of weeks now I have been trying to join Android 9 beta project with no success but today I managed to get the update via HiCare app.
The firmware version is 9.0.0.156(C01E156R1P20).
This worked for me on the Chinese version(COL-TL10) so I don't know if it will work for other versions.
Should work on any COL-AL/TL version.
Here is what you have to do:
1. Go to HiCare app
2. Change region to China
3. Now you probably have to wait, I checked about 8 hours after I changed the region(i didn't get any updates immidietly after switching)
4. In HiCare app there should be a update looking icon with a red notification dot, click it and the update will be there
5. Accept the terms
6. A dialog box will pop up, select the right option
7. After this the update will appear in system updates, install it just as any other ota update
Thats it.

I have the Chinese 6/128gb version COL-TL10. I found this on Chinese Huawei site not sure if it will work for global versions. I assume beta app was made for global phones while in China you can just use the HiCare app.
Also don't forget to open HiCare and manually check if there is an update because there won't be a notification.

Yes, the language of the region you set will be used in app. You can switch back to another region normally after you update.
Just need to find the update button and keep checking to see if you get the update I haven't got one yet

If you mean swipe from left/right of the screen to go back, from bottom to go home, from bottom and hold for recent apps, etc. then yes, although I got an update for that back when I was on Oreo.
I have got L29. I don't receive any update from hicare, it says i have the most recent version with emotion8.1.

I will just have to wait for the update whenever that will come, I don't really want to root this phone to put android p custom rom on it.
This most likely won't work for global devices, the global firmware is probably not yet ready and Chinese one won't install itself on a global device as they have their differences. Only way I see this helping global devices get updated faster is if for some reason they decide to release global firmware in China before they release it in other global regions, although I don't know if that makes sense because there probably isn't many global devices being used in China.
In the end even if this theory is correct(it probably isn't) it most likely won't help much as I don't see the release time difference between regions being more than a couple of days.

I think it won't work on any version other than TL10. I followed the steps on my COL-AL10. Six days, have been checking the app every day. Still no update is shown.

Open the support app. Go to me tab on the bottom right in that go to settings and change region to China and I assume if you imported from China via eBay or other sources you should be able to get the update. You can either go to settings or use the services section and find the update button after that you will see update and even if you change region back to your original it will be fine and see the update.

I think this is a bit "dangerous" way because buttons menu will set in Chinese language, how can restore it in your language after that? I don't know Chinese language.
And second thing, at my Huawei Support App I haven't got any update software button and I have it lastest version on my Mate 30 Pro 5G.

In the support app language change will not change the system language. Just follow the steps and once it shows update available you can change location back to your original one.

I used to have it but that changed. See screenshots in my previous posts above you can get it by changing region in support app. Then go to services tab on the bottom. Scroll till you find the attached image. The red box with up arrow is for upgrade.
When you tap that it will see the update. You can change the region back after that and update using phone settings. Cheers

I applied for beta Al00 in chinese language it got rejected because slots full. Yesterday i received sms saying update of 10.1.0.167 has been pushed for me. 10.1.0.167 is basic requirement for emui 11. So after updating its great worthy update. Can minimize any app in screen and any size you can keep in floating bubble too. Navigation smoothness is there with visual effects. Always on display we can DIY with any picture text. Overall great update
All apps can be kept minimise with our floating size. All apps are like bubble when they float. When we click it shows like this in the picture. Split screen 3 apps also can be done.

it doesnt mater about alfa ,beta or stable it is about country code .. chinese manufs always divide their software to 3 MAIN and then rest is just asia only and chinese few versions.. but main are EU, and global ... if you have EU version you can take the device to any EU countries huawei repair centre for warranty purposes ...
