Permanent TWRP on Android P Beta Official - Xiaomi Mi A1 Guides, News, & Discussion

The process is very simple, I tried it without having Magisk installed.
1. I am not responsible for any damage that may be generated to your smartphone.
2. Download the latest version of the TWRP(only fastboot) file here
https://dl.twrp.me/tissot/
3. Download the latest version of TWRP Installer CosmicDan or a newer version. Then download the latest version of Magisk Installer.
4. Turn off your smartphone and leave it in fastboot mode, then connect it to the PC.
5. Restart your smartphone in TWRP mode using the file downloaded in step 2.
6. Install the TWRP Installer file. After the process is finished install the Magisk Installer file.
7. Reboot and enjoy.
Note: if the process is unsuccessful, change the partition where the files from step 6 will be installed.

Thanks
After the installation of Twrp installer you are suggesting to install Magisk before to boot to system ... Is it right ?
Will have the procedure success using the legacy Twrp installer versus Cosmic Dan one ?
This because I had issue with CosmicDan version using OTG

it is correct what you say about installing Magisk before restarting the system. on the other hand the twrp of CosmicDan works very well with that process

It Works

I mean in step 6 of process, how to install the twrp (img file) ? Because if I go via flashing img file then it asks me about partition & there isn't the recovery partition as option to select it.

The hot boot to temporary twrp downloaded with step 2 and used in step 5 uses a TWRP.img
HERE you can download the .zip inside that there the necessary .img (https://github.com/CosmicDan-Androi...t_boot_only-3.2.1-with-Tissot-Manager-2.5.zip)
The above TWRP is different by the Installer one that is a .zip file
HERE you can download the .zip (https://github.com/CosmicDan-Androi...P-Installer-3.2.1-with-Tissot-Manager-2.5.zip)
This second .zip is used AS IS into step 6 and flashed using temporary TWRP

Worked like a charm thanks

Successfully flashed twrp but my device is not booting its on Android one logo ?? Twrp is there so what should I do ??
Edit : I also tried uninstalling magisk and device boots on Android pie but then again I have try to boot to recovery I got the same message that system has been destroyed. No issues with flashing twrp but after flashing twrp and magisk device is not booting. If I try to uninstall magisk then twrp has gone.

[GUIDE] Install Oreo Custom ROMs via TWRP

Good day to everyone! I wish to provide proper steps on how to install the latest Oreo custom ROMs via TWRP in order to lessen the clutter in the custom ROM threads.
You'll need the following:
Latest TWRP Official (Fastboot TWRP)
Latest TWRP Installer (PERMANENT TWRP)
Considering you already installed TWRP via fastboot, we'll make it so that it will be permanently installed and you will not need to flash TWRP via bootloader again.
Download ROM + GApps (or no gapps if Pixel Experience)
Reboot to latest Official TWRP
Do necessary wipes (FORMAT data if having storage number issue; if not, wipe system/data/cache) then transfer ROM + gapps + magisk to internal/external storage
Flash ROM (don't reboot)
Flash latest TWRP Installer (for Permanent TWRP)
Reboot recovery (no need to transfer slots anymore as TWRP does it automatically)
Flash Gapps + Magisk
Reboot to system
To DIRTY FLASH or update the same ROM with an updated version
Reboot to recovery
Flash ROM
Flash TWRP Installer
Reboot recovery
Flash Gapps + Magisk
Reboot to system
For installing custom kernels
Download custom kernel
Reboot recovery
Flash custom kernel
Reboot to system
All of these has been tried and tested by me already.
Hey , where to flash rom??
As you have written gapps + magisk , gapps + magisk twice

Guys, TWRP Installer IS the Permanent TWRP. That's why you need to flash it every time after flashing custom ROMs.

With custom ROMs we have to install Twrp installer every time along with ROM zip, bit awkward.
Is it just me but every time I flash twrp after flashing rom, I got error 20 when flashing gapps. Here's my steps:
- flash rom
- switch partition
- flash twrp
- reboot recovery (or bootloader then flashboot recovery)
- flash gapps -> error 20
Without flashing twrp permanent, I can flash gapps, no error.

Yep. That's because the ROM being flashed overwrites the recovery since there's no recovery partition.

If we need to flash it every time after flash rom so how it's called permanent TWRP I don't understand. That because our device don't have recovery partition? If that so where this TWRP installed ( in which partition)?

It's called permanent twrp because it won't get replaced by built in recovery whenever you reboot to recovery from system. TWRP gets installed within a part of the system partition.

Error 20 if I'm not wrong, means you are using the wrong gapps package.

Yes, I certainly use the right one (8.1), that's why I was baffled when twrp says that my device is 7.1.2 every time I tried to flash the 8.1 gapps. Anyway, flashing rom then straightaway followed by gapps and magisk was fine. I can flash twrp installer later on. But I just don't understand why.

Well that's weird. Works for me by flashing Gapps and Magisk after rebooting to recovery since it switches slots when you do that. Did you possibly come from a Nougat ROM which is why that's the error showing up?

I was thinking of that too but no, I was on Oreo Jan built the first time I rooted the phone and flash LOS15.1. Do you think I should at least flash Oreo stock once? Maybe my bootloader is still Nougat

Android P Installation with TWRP

Hi, how do I install the latest android P on my oneplus 6? I have an unlocked bootloader with twrp installed but not rooted.
Download the P zip via OnePlus forums, flash it through the update section in settings and wipe the phone via recovery. It will wipe TWRP though and replace it with stock recovery.

When u say back to twrp menu you mean after reboot to recovery and then to install twrp.zip or in the same session to install twrp twice?
what are known bugs in DP3?

Flash through ex kernel manager app
If the kernel uses "any kernel" then go to magisk and flash magisk one more time aswell, reboot.
What your saying is that you can't boot to twrp in any way? Not even with phone off and volume down? If not, reinstall twrp (I recommend blu_spark)

@Pepinow Power off your phone. Hold vol up and power, that will take you to fastboot. From there use the vol keys to show recovery at the top then boot to it. This is of course assuming you flashed the twrp zip when first installing it

[ROM] Elephone U pro treble ROM 8.1 RRmod resurrection remix / safetynet gpay working

Elephone U pro to treble resurrection remix laptapper mod android 8.1
Bluetooth and safetynet working!
All runs smoothly and everything what I´ve tested has worked.
If you find bugs, share them here and may be we can develop all together.
I´m not responsible for your phone, all what you do is on your own risk
Backup your data
if you´ve got booting problems after all then flash eragon10.3 via qfil
GAPPS included!
Best configuration menu ever, have a look to the attached picture
flashing guide:
Recommended is to make a full wipe of system, data, dalvik and via twrp factory wipe.
Flash via adb.
1. Copy img file in folder adb.
2. start bootloader
3. run in windows cmd with
fastboot flash boot V10_TWRP.img (if you didn´t have twrp)
fastboot flash system rrmodsystem.img
ignore messages, give time and you´ll see the progress, after finished wait some seconds and then follow next steps.
4. restart to recovery
5. flash magisk 17.1 zip via TWRP after flashing twrp and system
6. wipe dalvik and cache manually with TWRP file manager in folder dat\cache and dalvik
7. reboot system
8. If you want then you can flash extrasflashtwrp via twrp. Try and be happy
9. enjoy
Safetynet:
To get magisk safetynet working you have to install magsk module MagiskHide Props Config and set in magisk configuration magisk hide, reboot and then
Run a terminal app and type:
1) su
2) props
3) Set the fingerprint with the following keys (pressing enter after each):
1 -> f -> 16 -> 8 -> y -> y
take xiaomi Mi A1 (it´s working for my u pro so it should be also ok for you.
MTP:
MTP works, but you have to go to developer settings usb and switch from mtp to ptp and back. May be sometimes you have to switch 2 or 3 times.

May someone knows how to update the RR files in the future easily.......
May be there is a permanent possibility for phone security fingerprint and not over magisk module.....
Let´s develop together!
Big thanks to:

Easy install
Prerequisits: bootloader unlocked, rooted, TWRP installed. Of course it is only for u pro!
This procedure should be work on every u pro:
1. start twrp and make a full backup to sd card
2. check your sd card, you must have a folder twrp with subfolder backups and ssubfolder with your phone modell like A208DD.....
3. download the rr_mod... zip and extract it to your modell sub folder (it should be only one path with the backup files)
4. start twrp and click wipe, factory reset, and again to wipe but advanced wipe check box dalvik, system, data, internal storage. After this click restore in the main twrp menu, choose sd card and you´ll see the rrmod backup. choose system, vendor and boot to restore.
5. After restore reboot recovery again and install magisk 17.1
6. at least go to advanced in twrp main menu and then file manager, goto data and delete cache folder and dalvik-cache folder completely.
7. Reboot system and enjoy
8. if all is working go to twrp again and if you want, install the rr_mod_extras and enjoy.

Someone over on XDA also mentioned that this issue is to do with device encryption and that erasing and formatting the data partition would help (this will wipe all your data). This doesn't quite seem to link up but you never know...
On which ROM you are before, unlocked bootloader?
The developer options with usb debugging are on?
You've started the phone in bootloader?
Clean install with factory reset, wiped system wiped cache wiped data wiped internal memory?
The rrmodsystem.img is saved in adb folder, and you've started the cmd in adb folder?
You can try also to rename the rrmodsystem.img to system and fastboot flash system system.img, also it should be possible to flash eragon 10.3 via qfil and before iverwrite the eragon system.img with the system. Img of rrmod.
Before you've asked how to get magisk after flashing twrp and rrmod, so it sounds like that you've flashed rrmod before otherwise you had the possibility to download the magisk with the phone?
After the error appears you have waited some minutes or you disconnect the phone? Try to wait at least some minutes.

Form XperiaFirm, I saw I4193 is only for HongKong and Taiwan, I'm not sure if it has some difference form other models, maybe I can post the patched boot image in some Chinese forums, I hope some more users can help test it .

External SD should be fine
I flashed magisk-boot.img and all worked.
Now i wanted to unroot and stupid me, not thinking about what i am doing, i unrooted through magisk manager.
So i'm stuck in a boot loop.
Flashing the stock-boot.img in fastboot mode now got me to fastboot not recognizing my phone anymore.
When i check "fastboot devices" it returns "???????????? fastboot".
Flash mode still allows me to flash another boot.img with "fastboot flash boot stock-boot.img" but that doesn't fix the bootloop.
Any ideas?
Newflasher with xperifirm firmware files. Then factory reset from booted phone to re-gain safetynet

F2 pro reboot after magisk root,Help

I rooted f2 pro by using magisk patch boot.img method on firmware 12.0.4 Global, after rooting, I installed adaway to remove ads using hosts file and installed Xiaomi dialer magisk modules only.Root is working fine.
Now the phone randomly sometimes reboots in recovery mode
, and sometimes when I turn on data, the phone reboots and again goes into recovery mode. Help, please..............
Note: I have not installed TWRP or anything else just used only those 2 apps that need root access
Install TWRP it's more convenient because if u mess up something with magisk there's always a uninstaller zip that u can flash to get clean.
So flash THIS TWRP : https://mifirm.net/downloadtwrp/148
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fasboot boot recovery.img
DONE
and just flash latest Magisk then :good:
