TWRP build by shakalaca - Asus ROG Phone Guides, News, & Discussion

seen on official zentalk forum.
On the first post, search for TWRP, there will be a mega download link.
after unlocking bootloader, flash in fastboot
fastboot flash boot twrp-3.2.xxxxxxxxxxx.img
note: Flash to boot partition only. and download the corresponding version of twrp per your rom version.
Boot your phone and press Power+VolDown before you see the ROG Phone logo and release after.
I don't have permission to post the files or link it so here's the original link.

Only good for flashing off USB device. Nothing else works.

Can somebody create a fastboot bootable TWRP image and/or a zip file to inject TWRP into the stock boot image like it's used on the Moto Z2 force for example? I don't care about encryption and always have an unencrypted data partition.
Or could someone tell me how to create it myself?
That way we wouldn't have to wait for a modded boot image.
Kind regards

Rooting for March Update?

Hello fellow A2 Lite owners!
I just got this device today and would LOVE to root 10.0.7.0, However it seems like the only way to go through this is by using a patched boot image which is not viable because none have showed up for 10.0.7.0 yet.
Will there be any other solutions for this? Thank you.

Obviously, It is my preferred way since I used it on a couple of devices including my Redmi Note 4 and Mi Pad.
My concern is not OTA but whether it would somehow break the ROM
Yes, I am aware of Mi Flash, Flashing stock ROMS, and other techniques but it's just that i don't have time for such long endeavors and would like to have a safe-ish way.
However I will try to get twrp running temporarily to install magisk.

How did you get TWRP to work? I am using the official image but whenever i boot into the .img, click cancel as instructed, and install the twrp zip, the result is that when i try to boot into recovery it says System has been destroyed (recovery only, normal boot is ok)

I have followed this guide but it would always result in the installed version of TWRP not installing correctly, and the system mentioning "The System has been destroyed, Press power button to shut down"
How can i resolve this?
I just uploaded the boot and patched_boot imgs for 10.0.7.0 (March update) here are the links:

My phone fails to boot on step 10. when I load temporary patched boot.img over fastboot.
Thats my current problem.
I tried to load up downloaded pached boot.img for version V10.0.7.0.PDLMIXM
I also tried to make patched boot.img from original boot.img over phone via Magisk. It doesnt work, bootloop again.

I'm stuck with the same problem.
Booting with patched_boot.img (made on my own or downloaded from this forum) make the phone not starting, blocked on white screen.

Only boot twrp not to Flash it...
Boot twrp command » fastboot boot twrp.img
Flash twrp command » fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
I assume you tried "flashing twrp" command, if that's the case it will replace your boot.img to twrp.img that's why it appears the "system has been destroyed" error... Try the "boot twrp command" if you want to access twrp temporarily... Coz right now we cant do(flash full twrp recovery) that as far as I know....

Thanks great work. Btw, I've a favor to ask, my r8adual is in bootloop as i resized and recreated system, cust and userdata with parted, now it's messed up and device boolooping even after getting into fastboot mode.. My last resort is to resize the internal partition exactly as someone else's device. Could you please send me the partition table's picture if you've this device?

Mine is stuck at the Razer Logo "Powered by Android" screen as well. When I first installed TWRP it worked okay and I could access the menus, but now I can only access the Fastbook menu and the device is no longer recognized on my computer.
In FastBoot it's showing the following options:
START
Restart bootloader (does nothing but restart to the Razer Logo screen)
Unlock bootloader [Unlocked]
Recovery mode (does nothing but restart to the Razer logo screen)
Wipe Userdata
Power Off
Secure boot shows "yes"
DEVICE STATE - unlocked
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Which file did you download? ZIP or IMG?
If you downloaded the ZIP and tried to flash that with Fastboot, then you screwed up. You may need to download and flash a boot image. You can find this on the Razer Developer Portal, just Google search Razer Phone Stock ROM. You should keep a copy of the latest firmware anyway just in case their site goes down. Extract the zip and you'll want to flash "boot.img" using fastboot flash boot (path to boot.img here). Flash it to both A and B slots, then try flashing the TWRP IMG again.
Note: If you want Magisk, flash the Magisk ZIP after you install TWRP. Then flash the TWRP ZIP to install the recovery. Flashing the TWRP will unroot your phone.
BUT... This TWRP build seem to have issues. It does not remember settings and it is unable to read the internal storage /sdcard folder.
I suggest using an older build.

Try wiping user data and flashing the phone completely back to stock. That might be able to fix it, but if it doesn't you may have bricked your phone. If you did, someone else on here might be able to help you.

This build seems to have some issues.
1. Internal Storage shows up empty with 0mb.
2. It does not remember the user's settings. You can check the box for "Never show this again during boot" (for allowing changes) and it'll show up again during the next boot.

This issues will only show up when data can't decrypt.
So I guess you're using Razer official Android 9 ROM, but this build doesn't support Razer official ROM data decrypt yet.
It only support 3rd-party ROM data decrypt such as LineageOS, Pixel Experience, exTHmUI, etc.

Unbrick your Realme C12

What is a brick? If there is no usual way to recover your mobile, then it is called brick in my opinion. That means if you can't able to go to recovery and fastboot mode or the device is just blank with no sign of life.
When brick happens? It will happen because of locking bootloader with custom images or just because of Mediatek/Realme strange behaviour.
What we have to do if brick happens?Simply we have to flash stock firmware with Smart Phone Flash Tool(aka SPFlash Tool). With only SPFlash Tool we can't do anything, since we don't have permission for it. But with the advent of MTK-bypass, we can have full control over our device. If we don't have this MTK-bypass, then we have search for costly alternative's.
You can't flash only if your eMMC is damaged, which is the worst case because oppo phones are prone to eMMC failure.

Where to get firmware to flash?Download decrypted .ofp firmware from https://drive.google.com/file/d/1SOmRxix9_UtjOLLanXPYxf4YK1NrA_RW/view
Thanks to @bx2_nero for it.
What is the procedure for using MTK-bypass and SPFlashTool?MTK-bypass is a Python script and it needs different USB ways for working. So with these two in place, we can get our work done.
Linux UsersFor Linux we have to use FireISO or patched kernels for working of MTK-bypass.
Use the Linux guide by @bx2_nero at https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...our-realme-6-6i-india-6s-linux-method.4251077
Windows UsersFor Windows we have to use libusb32 filter for MTK-bypass working.
Use the guide by @daeSundae at https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...india-6s-using-spflash-tool-for-free.4222027/

MTKClient
After MTK-bypass got success, @viperbjk who is a reverse engineer came up with a FOSS replacement of SP Flash Tool.
MTKClient combines MTK-bypass and SP Flash Tool together and with many improvements and new features.
Ability to flash partitions without Scatter file
Ability to Readback partitions without specifying address and length
Ability to Format partitions without specifying address and length
Run multiple commands without reconnecting the device
Flash protected partitions(opporeserve2, special_preload, my_custom and cdt_engineering) with locked bootloader
Unlock bootloader without need of in-depth test/Deep testing app from Realme

I need help, my C12 is stuck on fastboot mode. This happened after flashing a GSI using TWRP and flashing the image in the Super (System and Vendor) partition.
I tried rebooting to recovery mode by executing fastboot reboot recovery but it says that bootloader is not known.
I also tried to flash a GSI (taught it might fix the problem) using fastboot flash system system.img but it says that no partition named system exists.
Please suggest what I should do.

Since your device is Qualcomm, I don't know. In any device, we have to flash stock rom (or atleast the partitions that are modified) to get device in working state.

While this technique certainly appears to have been researched. Running though the instructions has resulted in my device caught in a boot-loop. A pretty serious one too. I can no longer access the bootloader or recovery/
I fear the state my device is in is 'soft bricked/ I have no clue have to resolve this and without access to the bootloader I can't rollback anything.
Some friendly notes for Hsnmastoor:
You should re-format the post. Writing the instructions then at the end supply the links and file attachments in the order in which they should be run As it is, the instructions are confusing .
If anyone has any ideas how to correct the boot loop, plug me in

Has anyone flashed this successfully?
any bugs? i flashed crdroid. it's too buggy
Hi everybody,
Still mad at myself for buying this phone (with MediaTek SOC) because of the lack of custom ROM support. Never had this issue before with any of my phones. If only i knew this before. The hardware of the phone is great, but the software makes it really frustrating to work with.
So i've tried a lot of things to either mod the original (Chinese) ROM so it's at least functional. And i have also tried multiple of these GSI ROM install methods. Everytime without succes.
I've tried your previous method with the 'GSI installer' and the one from this guide. Neither of them worked. (Boot loop). I have a feeling i run into trouble because (if i'm correct) the original ROM uses a 'super' partition and not a 'system' partition.
If i remember correctly the GSI installer couldn't continue because it couldn't find the system partition.
In this guide (for corvus) i figured i'd flash the system.img to my super partition. Of cource that doesn't work either. If only it was that simple.
Everytime it fails i have to flash back to a standard xiaomi ROM and start all over again. Because for some reason the TWRP backups also dont work for me.
So maybe i'm missing a step in the guide or i've already tried so much to mod my phone i've changed settings/partitions that shouldn't have been changed for this guide to work.
My bootloader is unlocked, i have/had TWRP 3.41 installed.
After a fail i flash back to the original ROM using Xiaomi ABD/Fastboot Tools (xiaomiABDFastbootTools.jar)
Any help would be appreciated!
I never had issue when I flashed the GSI from the crdroid guide did you make sure that you put the GSI installer.zip and the image file rename to system.img to the root internal storage??
Yes i did. It could also find the system.img file, but just wasn't able to flash it.
Can you tell mw what ROM you were flashing from?
