Opening Android Messages messes with the system night mode developer option - General Topics

When I open the Android Messages app, it changes the developer setting for system wide dark mode depending on if I have dark mode in the messages set on or off (dark mode on = system night mode on, dark mode off = system night mode off). It changing the messages darkmode in Messages also affects it in Google Phone and Google Contacts, and so does system night mode, so basically messages ui mode overrides the system night mode.
Is there any way to fix this?

Full Dark Mode

My phone is now updated to One UI 2, Android 10. I was expecting this to result in eg gmail app being in dark mode, but it is not. I've checked for the themes option in Gmail settings but it doesn't exist.
I also tried force Dark mode in dev options but this did not sort it. Also this did not seem to force whatsapp into a dark mode.
Have you tried a complete system cache clean up from recovery?
It is worth trying.

Tried this. Now have Gmail in dark mode (as set in display settings) Thanks for the tip [emoji1531]
WhatsApp still not in dark mode when force dark mode is enabled.
Most of my apps went dark except for Google one. Even my bank app did which i thought wouldn't because of the security factors.
But its not perfect Facebook and Mesenger seem to go dark but you get inverted colours on most of it, if i want to use them i have to turn off force dark mode.
I would like Google to bring back Dark cards for Google Feed and assistant.
Use #hex if you want to customize Some backgrounds like gmail, maps, Assistant ect.

Is there a way to keep force dark mode?

In Developers Options you can enable "force dark mode" which will forcibly enable dark mode for apps originally not having it. For example Facebook app will turn to dark with this option enabled.
Unfortunately this option get disabled after reboot.
Is there a way to keep it enabled? May be some hack (for non-root) exists?
No... It's for safety precautions
Make a Bixby Routine to enable Dark Mode when you need it.

that will not enable dark mode for facebook. Facebook does not support dark mode and hence you either enable it in developer options to forcibly make fb dark (and break swiftkey keyboard and other apps) until restart, or you delete fb and use a webpage of fb in samsung browser in dark mode (the moon icon on the browser).

Dark mode not working on Snapchat

When I turn on dark mode for Snapchat from my settings, the screen remains white in Snapchat and also the text becomes invisible. I desperately want to use dark mode but it's not available. Please help. I tried third party apps, but it's of no use.

Override force dark mode missing

face an issue in
Redmi Note 7 Pro - MIUI 12 - Android 10.
The override force dark mode option was existing before. And it was enabled at that time. Now it's gone. In Google phone app when in a call if I tap speaker button, the white overlay is black and can't even find if it's in speaker mode.
Is there any ADB code so that I can manually disable it.
I experienced the same thing, and see the "Individual apps" listed under Dark mode in settings *only when dark mode is enabled*
When the switch is set to off, the advanced options is hidden. Nice UX

I think apps choose theme according to which system is using at the moment.
If android is set to dark mode, apps will be with dark theme too.
Some apps though allow to manually set desired theme.
