WIFI Issue

Hi everyone,
so i just recently set my phone back to stock and installed all of the OTA updates from t-mobile. But now I have a wifi issue. Whenever I turn WIFI on, airplane mode automatically goes on and I lose signal, but WIFI will still be functional. I know there was a simple fix for this before because I encountered this the first time I rooted my phone but I dont remember what it was, and I tried searching posts for it.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance

[Q] Wi-Fi connectivity issues

Hey guys,
I'm having some issues with my Wi-Fi connectivity on my N5 and it's freaking me out! :crying:
When I'm trying to connect to my home network, the Wi-Fi icon is getting orange after some random time.
Some times it gets back to white, some times it's not.
I know its a known issue but nothing seems to fix it.
I tried everything - reboot my phone, reboot my router, reboot into safe mode, forget the network and connect again, toggle into airplane mode and back, change Wi-Fi settings to connect only to 2.4 GHz, avoid poor connections, update my router firmware.
NOTHING worked!
The only thing I haven't tried yet is factory reset but I read some people saying it didn't help them either.
Only turning Wi-Fi off and than on again makes it "white" again for some other random time.
I'm running stock everything on a rooted device with Android 4.4.4 build KTU84P.
My Wi-Fi is working great with other devices in the network including a Nexus 7 2012 and some laptops.
And it seems that my Nexus 5 is connecting fine to other Wi-Fi networks.
It worked fine in the past and I think it all went wrong when I replaced my Modem.
Any ideas what else can I try?
Do you think maybe the Lollipop update will fix this annoying issue?
Thanks!
Forgot to mention (I guess it is obvious) - I can't connect to any website or run any network connected app when I'm "orange" (I know it means I'm not connected to google services).
Tried also to change my Wi-Fi channel. still not working.
Doesn't anyone have an idea what is wrong here?
This is really frustrating ... :crying:
Well, I'm kind of talking to myself here, but in case someone else is facing this annoying issue, here is what fixed it for me eventually:
Configure a static IP to my phone in the router configurations ! :victory:
Before that, I also tried to disable Wi-Fi optimization in the phone Wi-Fi settings, buy it didn't seem to help.

[Q] WiFi always forgets password

Hi,
My S6 seems to always ask for the WiFi password whenever I turn the WiFi on and connect it to my (presumably) saved networks. So when I turn on my WiFi at home, it always asks me for my password, same with work, other saved locations etc. This problem has only started occuring from last week, before I had the problem of WiFi not automatically connecting to the network when WiFi was turned on. I would need to turn it on, and manually press connect on the WiFi page without asking for the WiFi password again.
Any idea why this could be happening?
Same here... I connect to a wifi network and if I disconnect wifi whenever I turn wifi on it keeps asking for the password...
Anyone...?

Same here. No one has actually found a fix for that?
Bump
Haven't found a fix yet... Are we the only ones? Have you imported from an old galaxy or a google bakcup. Let's see what else we have in common
I'm not sure but I don't think I restored anything form google.
I have the same problem. I think it started when I updated to 5.1.1 some months ago. I have found nothing on the internet, not even other people having this problem, other than you!
I never tried updating to another version neither restoring because I'm rooted but I think it's the only way it could solve the problem...
I got the same thing. I had it with my S4 too. Were you able to fix it?
Nope I abandoned and never tried a restore. I was root so I got along with it. Ended changing up with the 6S
If your phone is rooted then you could try this:
-Using file explorer go to root>>system
-Edit build.prop
-look for "ro.securestorage.support=true"
- Change the value from 'true' to 'false'
-Save the file and exit
-Reboot your phone
This worked for me.
working with the below solution thank you bro

Hi, i also have the same issue with my s6. I found that when you switch the plane mode off and then on again while your wifi is on, the phone does not ask for the password. It connects automatically. This should not happen for sure, but it's a faster solution than typing passwords..
S6 keep forgetting wi Fi.
I am getting 2 problems with my galaxy s6.
1. Every time I have to put wifi password. To connect to wifi. It's keep forgetting wifi. Turning off and turning wi fi takes long than usual.
2. It's showing security issues and keep asking to restart. Saying some unauthorised application accessing. I belive that's knox. I have forced stopped it but it's keep showing errors.
I tried to change build.prop. but it's showing error.
Please help
Maybe it's another application you downloaded... As for the wifi try what's been suggested above. What firmware are you on?

I have exactly the same issue with a Galaxy I recently bought. Have you found a sustainable solution for both issues?

Nexus 5 WiFi Crashing Phone

Hi all. I have a weird issue that after Googling it doesn't seem anyone else has had.
The issue started earlier today, in the morning. I was using my phone on the WiFi and it was working phone, then my phone crashed, restarted itself.
I noticed it wasn't connected to the WiFi, went to the WiFi settings and where it usually says the list of networks it said "Turning on WiFi" and the slider at the top was greyed out so I couldn't turn it off.
I tried airplane mode and that didn't help. But the phone was working fine on my mobile data so restarted.
Now the weirder part starts. I basically have an issue where, if I turn on the WiFi, my phone crashes, or doesn't act like it's turning the WiFi on.
Even going Settings and then pressing on the WiFi option freezes the phone.
The problem started when I was still using 4.4.4 however since the problem developed I've used my mobile data to download the updates and now have 5.1.1 I think.
The problem persists even after updating to the most recent version and doing a factory restore. The phone is currently completely stock with nothing downloaded on to it. All I did is go through the first time setup for the device.
The WiFi currently is off, and the phone is working however it won't connect to my data, it has the signal bars and then an ! instead of a 4G icon.
If I try to turn the WiFi on it crashes the phone.
The phone is still under warranty so I plan on contacting LG on Monday however it's currently 3:34 AM on a Sunday so I have a day until I can call them and was hoping for a solution in that time.
Thanks in advance. I have the phone to hand so anything you want me to test I'm able to.
There is some information I didn't type as I don't know what is important was trying to avoid a wall of text so if you have any more questions I'll answer I best I can.
Thanks for reading, I hope you can help!

Wifi problems after Nougat update

Hi, since the nougat update I got last week, my phone is having problems connecting to Wifi.
It will connect fine, then if I leave the wifi connection I have and go out, when I return it won't connect. It can see the router, but refuses to connect at all. I then have to re-boot and it connects fine (a real pain when wifi calling is essential due to poor signal and I'm hopeless at remembering to reboot when I enter a new wifi zone).
This is happening at both home and work, so I don't think it's caused by the routers. Before the update the wifi connection in both places was absolutly solid. Really frustrated, has anyone got any ideas?
I'm currently "repairing" the software yet again to see if that helps, it's a bog standard non-rooted E6653 on EE
Try doing factory reset.
Yes try a factory reset.
I'm on stock Nougat and no such wifi issues.
However I did experience wifi connection (disconnection) issues on Marshmallow.
Don't restart your phone. Don't do a factory reset.
This is what you should do: Turn on Flight mode, then turn it off again. Wait for a few secs, done!
This saves you for some of the daily pain, while you are awaiting Sony's permanent fix. Unfortunatelly, Sony is persistently refusing to tell you how and when, would you believe it ...
I have exactly the same problem with my Z5, after the latest upgrade. Will try the airplane mode trick and hope that Sony will provide a patch.
I have the same problem. Turn on and off flight mode works.
same problem here
