Any ideas on how to modify the versa so that you can substitute calendar, weather or something else for the "Today" app (slide up)?

Hi, AFAIK the Today screen is integrated in the Fitbit OS and cannot be removed/replaced. In order to get a calendar of weather on your Versa, you have to install them on your Versa from within the Fitbit App. The weather app is by Fitbit itself and the Calendar is a Third party app.

Clock Faces
Hi all, you can change the standard Clock Face on your Versa to your own liking by downloading other Clock faces. To do that, you will need to install the Fitbit App on your phone and setup the Versa on your phone. How to do that, see: https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en...Topics:Getting_Started&p=versa&fs=Search&pn=1. Once you clicked the link, got to "Trackers and Watches" and follow the intructions for your particular device, Android, iPhone and Windows 10 devices. More information about this, will be soon posted.

Bands
Just bought my Versa and looking into wristbands. I have a Blaze now and use a silicone band that the watch just pops into the rubber cradle. Is there a similar band out there for the Versa?

Hi, have a look at this site: https://www.miniinthebox.com/index....ion=0&prm=2.1.62.0&keyword=Fitbit+Versa+bands and you will see "tons" of bands for the Versa.
Hi all, as earlier stated, I would keep you informed about Clock Faces for the Versa. I've found a clock face that's not only very beautiful but also very functional, heavily customizable and by it's size is also very battery friendly. My Versa, with this clock face lasts at least 5 days with this clock face, See this link,
Copy and paste the link into the browser on your mobile device: https://gam.fitbit.com/gallery/clock/364a8989-6105-4418-93aa-10a4e55775ea where the Fitbit app is installed. Or use XDA Labs on your mobile device.
Thiis is how it looks on my device after total customization (however the photo shows a blue background, imagine that's is dark black!!)
Here are two photo's off how this face looks on my Versa (mind that although the photo shows, for whatever reason, a blue background, imagine that it's dark black on my Versa)
Main display:
Stats Screen (sorry for the blurry image):
On the stats screen, you'll see from top to bottom, besides battery - time -date: Steps - Floors - Calories - Distance - Active Minutes and HR.

Hi There,
I just bought the Versa Lite yesterday and tried to set it up with my essential Ph-1 runing Android 9 Pie. Now the issue is i can receive all notifications on watch from the phone except the Calls, Missed calls and Voicemails . I tried all troubleshooting tips mentioned in forums, so i would like to ask here to see if any knew or came across this sort of issue.

Hi, the problems you're facing are the result of the fact that your mobile device is not in the list of supported devices by Fitbit. See: https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/2315/?q=compatible&l=en_US&fs=Search&pn=1. Scroll down to "Android devices"and press it. you will not find your phone in this list, sorry. hi Thanks for the reply, Actually after doing some many tricks and tips for it to work. I finally made it working by doing the watch Factory resetting. Then after setup gave up almost 4-5 hours then started working the incoming call notifications. I really dont know why it needs that many hours for it to work. But now i left it as is as i am not sure what has helped me in making it to work.

Hi, glad that you got it to work. That it takes soo long to finish the setup procedure is the result of the fact that this is done via BT. I usually do this via WiFi and then it takes about 30-45 minutes. Kind regards, kuzibri
Clock Faces
Hi guys,
promised you to keep you all updated with new news about the Versa. Well there is:
there is a new, very beautiful and highly customizable Clock Face avaliable for the Versa. Although it's a payed one ($1.5 after a trial period of 30 hours, it worth every penny of it. Yo can change the home display from analog to digital by pressing on the bottom of the home display. By tapping the top of the home screen, you wil get the stats screen, with all the needed stats. See:
https://gallery.fitbit.com/details/5f05513e-568b-4993-92b7-783373d6c8a1. Try it out and you will be in no time addicted to this Clock Face, just like me. The size is only 17 kB which makes it very battery friendly. My Versa lasts 5 days on one charge with this Clock Face.

I have a OnePlus 6t 8\256 just got the versa music controls don't work or show up. The watch showed up in Bluetooth settings as 2 different watches versa normally and all functions work except music controls, if I put the watch in it's settings Bluetooth pair it showed up as versa classic music controls work when paired this way but as soon as you do anything else with the watch or Fitbit app it goes back to the versa Bluetooth pairing and music controls stop working just purchased yesterday. also when you are paired to the versa classic Bluetooth you can work the music controls but it doesn't show the right song on your watch face

Fitbit Versa ISSUE - Data not cleared Sync & try again
Hello all!
I would like to ask for some help if possible or if anyone have any idea how to rescue my Fitbit Versa.
Few days ago on my Fitbit Screen it pops up a message "Unlock with your phone"
Because i am not so into what Fitbit app offers i didn`t know that you can do this from the app on your phone, i messed up the watch.
As follow i tried to connect to my computer on fitbit app there by adding a device, but when the app it prompts the 4 square field to input the 4 digits code generated into your Versa screen i was unable to read as always it pops up the same message "Unlock with your phone" and i cannot bypass it.
When i see that i tried on my phone app from Fitbit but there was the same issue, so i deleted the device from the app. And like this it started the "party" been unable to add the Fitbit to the phone app nor to the computer app.
I was asking for help on Fitbit site on a forum and someone told me to do some steps
1. Delete from any Bluetooth pairing your watch.
2 Turn off the Bluetooth on devices (mobile phone, computer and who knows maybe any other pairing connections).
3. Turn off the devices that were paired with your watch, after you undertake the steps 1 and 2.
4 Turn on one of the device, and turn on the Bluetooth to pair with the watch.
5 Try and add it again the watch (device) to the app - FAILED - as the watch still pops up on screen "Unlock with your mobile phone"
If the above steps fail try and do a hard reset by holding down all 3 buttons for about 10 seconds (more or less) and when the Fitbit logo show on watch , release the bottom right button , continuing to hold the top right and middle left buttons pressed until there is a vibration.
By doing so i was expecting the watch will reboot to factory settings, instead it pops up now DATA NOT CLEARED. SYNC & TRY AGAIN and from this screen i cannot go anywhere no matter how many times i try the hard reset method.
So from yesterday i am looking at one piece of garbage that cost me 170 pounds 2 years ago because i am unable to restart it. and i have no idea if there is a fix.
If here is anyone skilled to tell me how can i reboot this bloody watch to can use it again i would be thankful. i was thinking maybe there is any software that we can install in computer and by connecting the Fitbit charger USB to the computer to can flash the software again, like we can do on Android phones, to put any firmware we like. :fingers-crossed::crying:
Any help would be appreciated!

Hi guys, finally Google has activeted my google app inventor account..so i started making my first application..that was the first thing that i thought.
Basically what this app do is to send with a text message your GPS position (address from google maps, latitude, longitude and accuracy)
The use is simple. You have to choose a contact (with the search button) and then touch the picture.
Yeah here there are really serious developers..but this application even though simple, useless..got my day! ..btw i'll try to improve it
feedbacks are appreciated...for the app follow the link at the third post
and sorry for my bad english (i think that it's a little bit rusty )
Known issues:
- The app send the last GPS position saved (it does mean that even though you have gps turned off, it will not send the current position but the last saved)
- Someone had a problem within the app (random crashes)
new version 1.2 - ChangeLog:
- Added second function, now it's possible to insert the number in both from contacts and manually
- Bugs fixes
enjoy and let me know if you would some improvement
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=7W8C5YE1
This is the version 1.3 ..changelog:
- Layout modified
- Able to send the direct link for Google Maps
- Now the text message include the voices latitude, longitude and accuracy
follow the link below to download the app - link version 1.3:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=TM0H2KDH
thats 3 Versions a day, you'll have 2.0 in a few days

xoxo basically the first version was really bad..I just improved it
if you have any idea how and where improve it..tell me and I will be happy to release a newest version LOL (if I will be able to do that ovviously )
My idea of an SOS app was like this:
User can select 5 cellphone numbers. Pressing SOS button sends SMS with help message and position to all of them. App then tracks if one of these numbers call back within a defined period of time.
If no one calls back, phone calls paramedics automatically and enables hands free mode and speaker...

Other Idea :
Option to use the flashlight for s.o.s singal(there is an sos singal for lights)
Crashes
Hi, application crashes as soon as he presses the SEND SOS
HTC Desire - Official Froyo ROM not ROOT
ps: sorry my bad English, but not writing so often
cool would love to see those features!
also I question this apps GPS ability's, for those of us with femtocell's (Airave for Sprint and the one for Verizon and of course AT&T) that constantly display the wrong location using aGPS... I literally have to wait for actual GPS to get a lock before it will show me in my correct location, otherwise im almost 80miles away...
this isnt a problem limited to your application... imagine calling 911 from home on your cell with an airave and being unable to tell them your address and your phone sends them the address that aGPS is getting...

when exactly? did you chose the recipient before pressing the button?
You can send the SOS in both first and second function..but you have to follow this order:
using the first function: Serch by contact-->chose the recipient-->send SOS
using the second function: Insert number where is written "touch to insert number" and then press the button "send to number"
anyway i'm working on it..i think that i will release a new update within next two days

I know this issue..i'm working on it..practically it sends the LAST position saved (i mean even though you have your gps turned off..the app sends the position anyway..not your current position but the last saved)
In the next release i will include the cell position too (i hope)..do you have any idea how to fix your position issue?

Application crashes in both cases. When you select a number and click the SEND SOS, or when you write and použuji button below it .. But now I found that crashes only when I am running Bluetooth and WiFi
Thats a great idea for an app.
i came across the idea about trying to override the settings somehow, to force the phone to connect to gps to get the most accurate position. most of ppl dont have gps turned on if they dont need it, and when u are in an sos situation, u dont have always the time to turn on gps and all so maybe would be ql if, when u press sos, the app would turn on internal gps and connect to the satelites.
@roomkokos
WOW you have lots of very good ideas (thx so much)..btw remember that i'm still a noob in programmation..BUT i will try to add as much as possible newest features..but i think that this will take lots of time (above reason-->noob )..anyway i think to develop an app like this..it's needed the help from different developer, just because each dev is better than other within the different segment (gps, network, led, activity etc)..so..if some dev is interested to develop this app with me i will be so glad
and this will be more important if this app will be developed at the same time on other platforms..to exploit the effect "utility"
Crash / tipover detection
Something that would be neat would be to have a sudden deceleration or tipover detection that automatically sent a message after a few seconds if not deactivated.
I'm thinking about something for motorcycles. You would mount the phone on the bike like a GPS.
I've been thinking about developing an app like this for a few years [was going to use a wiimote paired via bluetooth for the accelerometer before they started putting them in the phone], just never got around to it.
@ giuvilas
tnx
btw that would be a good idea to have that kind of powerfull app on various/all platforms, however i do think if couple of devs with big knowhow get together to make a team, that would develop this app for couple of platforms, they could get some heavy money from the EU and the US government and possibly some big sponsorships from the phone companies (htc, samsung, nokia, ...) as well as google, for using their gmaps. Its a matter of national security application and would benefit everyone. This app would increase the number of smartphones, the usage of gmaps and reduce the costs for search&rescue missions
If you get a big team of good devs on board, i'm willing to get my hands dirty with the birocracy trying to get the recources first from the EU sources, then if we enounter success, we might get to get some other companies stimulated as sponsors. i'm a law student - a dev in a birocracy area

I know what u mean, i'm a biker too, and that idea is great, but its best suit for some sort of an airbag device or should be strictly mounted to a bike. Any kind of sudden acceleration detection causing emergency call if not cancled asap, would make a lot of un-needed trips of the emergency units, as many ppl have their phones in bags (women, athlets...), which they throw around, some clumsy ppl trying to catch their phone from falling from a desk, and they will not constantly havein mind that by doing what they have done last 10 years since phones are more available everywhere ... that they are actually calling emergency units.
Imagine the shock on peoples faces looking at a medic, policeman and a firefighter one someones door step, 10 minutes after their young child threw daddies phone from the table because accelerometer would auto call for help thinking its on a bike :/
I think your idea is great but i just dont believe it would fit in a mobile device.
When i was out with my friend and he had crashed because another car was taking over a bicycle in a right turn and my friend almost knee-paded in that left corner from the other side, he had drive from the road in the grass and trees to avoid collision with that car. And it took us around 15-20 minutes to gatther all up to see if we are all ok, to decide how to proceed, to get the bike out of a bush, to check if anything isnt broken, drink watter to prevent going into shock etc. and it took quite some time b4 someone thought of a phone to call other ppl. I dont think, the first idea that would cross your mind, when u fall of a bike and do little to medium plastic damage, would be to cancel the emergency unit call, that your phone had activated when the accelerometer detected the fall. You would get medics to your location in 5-10 minutes after the call and you would be still picking up your bike and tried to get it started. Meanwhile a useless drive of the medics might save someone elses life that really needed medic but he was on the way to help u that u didnt need the help, but u also didnt deactivate the call as you were supposed to.
But would be a great idea it all that would be somehow implemented on a bike itself. Like theres the red button for emergency stop of the engine, it could be an emergency call for medics when u are in such crash under the bike that u cant reach for the phone or anything.
thanks
wow mate, downloading it, thanks
Great App.
It would be even greater if I could preset the contact I wish to send an SMS to. In case of a real emergency I then only need to press one button. Searching for a contact could be a bit troublesome if you are really in need of help.

Tips
Double tap the strap or screen to turn the screen on
If you shake it hard enough the screen will turn on
There are currently no ways to keep the screen on or alter the timeout (other than 'Custom watch for Smartwatch')
You can now choose either an analogue or digital watch that stays on when the smartwatch detects motion (will use battery faster!)
To completely reset the watch (for instance if you're having trouble pairing/flashed a new rom etc.) Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds. When you turn it back on it should show the watch and phone with a syncing arrows in between them.
Process for a full reset (basically like you just got it out of the box!)
1- Remove smartwatch app from phone by going to setting->apps->smartwatch->uninstall
2- Unpair the smartwatch from phone by going to settings->bluetooth->smartwatch->unpair
3- Reset smartwatch by following the above tip (hold power button for 15 secs)
To re-pair the devices make sure liveware manager is installed on your phone, re-pair, download smartwatch app when prompted.
Any tips you have which you think are cool, please post so i can put them here!!

I hope Sony will be releasing updates more often! The last update was very welcomed. Hope it fixes my problems with battery indicator... watch was showing battery charging status, although I was wearing it and not charging.
One correction: "Double tap the strap or display to turn the screen on"
Also...
Analog clock is useless. It has no numbers (3,6,9,12).
Small digital clock changes one position down every minute (it has 3 positions: upper, middle, lower). Same is with battery charging indicator!
Battery indicator is now always visible when charging! <-- unfortunately this is THE best feature in this update!
Previously I could turn the display completely off with the button (clock screen -> press button -> screen turns off), but now it's impossible. Pressing the button causes looping between clock screen and aplications/widgets. Sony why are you removing functions... =(
The update broke my dad's SmartWatch - it's restarting as soon as it connects to his One X. I tried it on my One X and I couldn't even find it via bluetooth!
Tried to restart the watch in every way possible, unpaired it with my dad's phone, reistalled the LiveWare and SmartWatch apps.. no use.
I see from the Play Store comments that some people are suffering from the same issue with Galaxy S2 and Sensation 4G. Any suggestions?

That is weird because im on the One X as well. have you tried holding the power button (whilst the screen is on) for 15 seconds? That will hard reset the watch. Id do this:
1. uninstall the smartwatch and liveware apps from his One X
2. Reboot phone.
3. Hold power button for 15 seconds to hard reset watch.
4. reinstall liveware app
5. Pair phone with smartwatch again, reinstall smartwatch app.
Hopefully that will sort it!

Thanks, but I tried all that and it's no use.
Excellent watch for me but it really miss a true email app (and not only fo Sony smartphones).
I've seen the K9 mail app but K9 don't work with Exchange 2010 servers (i've tried !)
The update of today is great (active notifications, differents clocks...).
I hope someone will create another email app !
Warning! Fatal firmware update being pushed
This morning (May 31 2012), I awoke to a new version of the SmartWatch software. It offered to push new firmware to the device. After the flash (which went normally), the watch reboots EVERY time the screen wakes up. The market is full of people who are furious.

Updated op. Thanks for the info, sorry your having problems. Weird how its not affecting all of them.
Same here - update broke the watch
Same here.
Updated this morning - everything went well. But after the update the watch disconnectes and reboots all the time.
I realized the following behaviour - I am able to start the watch and then it tries to sync with the phone. After a while the screen goes blank. But if I wake it up now the screen flickers twice & it reboots with the "Sony" display.
Same thing when I receive a notification - so a connection between the phone (Xperia S) and the watch is actually established.
I chatted with some guy from Sony support & he told me to contact my dealer to get a replacement (I just got it yesterday)
I figure I will wait a few days if there is an update and if that does not help I will get a replacement for it is still in warranty.
Has anyone used the Ultimate Watch add on (referenced in the OP). It's the app that keeps the clock on the screen at all times. If so, do you have any experience to share about the battery life when using this app?

I have used it. Unfortunately for me, it was a huge drain on battery. Watch wouldn't last even one day while using that watch app with the screen on setting.

Hi Francesco !
That would be good. The SmartWatch can't make a sound. Not have a Speaker
I haven't seen the bell.: Confused:

I've used this as well before the latest update. Really liked all the different styles but massive drain on the battery, even after the latest update which made it dim. Battery wouldn't last more than about 4 hours with the latest smartwatch update there is an option to have the clock showing all the time natively (digital or analogue), again drains the battery quicker but lasts a bit longer with this method!
@Francesco I think the bell icon is used to show that you have an alarm set if I remember correctly. Not sure though as I don't use the built in alarm app. Welcome to the forum!

Yes I have found. But should only be advertising on calendar reminders. We have no buzzer.
I've had the Sony smart watch a few weeks now got it as a bday gift and I love it. Dec better then there first live view watch it stays connected and works as it suppose to. I luckily had no issues with the new update I received a couple days ago. I like the new watch on feature although it does drain. The battery faster. It at least last through the day but I'm OK with not having it on and tapping the screen when I need to. The battery last me a week when its set normally.

IMPORTANT NOTES
The app will only discover wearables like MiBand if they are not used at the same time by another app like MiFit. You need to close MiFit for the band to be discovered.
In the case of the MiBand when you change the app your band stored data will be wiped. I'm investigating a way to avoid this.
What does it do..?
First message updated a bit
How to connect with mi band? I search for devices but it find nothing
Edit: just figured it out
I have a question. After connected to my miband I tapped on the top left settings icon and I saw in the bottom of the list the option "factory reset". Is it really possible? What are the consequences? In the official app this option doesn't exist

To connect the MiBand you unpaired it first from the other app havent you?
The Admin section of wearables exposes all kind of operations. Some of them are rather low level and even should be executed on a particular order. I may hide/show all that under a setting to avoid mistakes.
Factory reset just does that. It will wipe all the pairing data.

Thank you for answering quickly I ask that because lot of people on an Italian forum that I know had many problems with this wereable and I thought that a factory reset could solve them.
Another question: after using you're app I noticed that after reconnecting the mi band to its official app all the data was lost. Is it normal?

About the data wipe. This is normal the app is setting new user data based on the personal profile.
Same with the alarms. The band, as far as I know, does not have a way to retrieve the current alarm configuration.
Thanks for the app. I think it very promising. I just installed the app from google play, unpaired the band with mi fit app and connected with gliderun. After connection, it stays short time as connected and disconnects after 4-5 seconds. Is there a reason you can tell? I use smartlock app and I am on cm11.
Thanks again.

Sorry for not answering before. Is it working better now. There have been a good number of versions.
Hey, tincore. Thank you for making the app compatible with the Mi Band! Since there's a lack of feedback here for you, I'd like to leave you some general issues/thoughts/etc. If you'd like to inquire about any of my comments, or would like logs of anything, please let me know and I'll provide that. If you wouldn't mind just quoting some of my comment so I can get an e-mail notification of your reply, that'd be great!
I'm on Android 4.4.4.
- Initially, I had trouble pairing the Mi Band with the app. I unpaired my band from MiFit, killed MiFit, and attempted pairing to Gliderun. Initially, Gliderun would connect to the band, this is where band's lights light up, and you have to tap the band to 'accept' the pairing; but when you tapped the band nothing happened. However, a minute later the band connected to Gliderun as if I tapped it.
- When I connected to Gliderun, it recognized that I had 6,000 steps, but once I began walking, the app started counting from 0.
- I'm kind of confused about the 'start' function on the Activity tab. Am I supposed to have this enabled? Normally, I just go into MiFit, refresh the page for it to download the data from the band. Can I essentially do this with Gliderun without using this start function?
- On the Activity tab, is there a way to make 'empty' cells completely blank?
- Is there a way to track sleep?
Previously, I had trouble getting my MiBand to reliably stay connected with Gliderun, but now it seems to keep the connection fine. I'll start using this app daily instead and I'll check back here with any updates. Thanks again!
Thanks for the remarks!
After the band is paired once the app tries to find and reconnect to it automatically. I imagine that first time there was a problem with the connection so it connected on the retry . It *should* also syncronize itself every 1-2 hours..
About step count and the start button. Gliderun tries to combine activity and general tracking. When you start a particular activity (by clicking on start) it should count the steps of that activity. When you are not in a activity it should count those steps globally for a daily total.
To activate global tracking you can go to preferences > tracking or tap on some of the inactive dashboard indicators. Without global tracking activated you should still see some totals after syncronization with the band.
You have,at least, two steps counters the band and your phone. Each of them has an absolute step count.
"Sensor step counts" indicator shows the steps of the active step counter so depending on the band being connected or not it may toggle to your phone. I hope this makes sense.
I will add a "Blank" indicator asap.
About sleep. The app should be already tracking your sleep periods. You can see those on Global stats screen. I would like to add the deep sleep phases but I need documentation or advise on what exactly I have to look for in order to provide a faithful solution.
I'm trying now to fix a few issues to move to beta. I hope I can make a video and some captures soon.

Yup! After wanting to view my current steps for today, I just opened up Gliderun, waited a bit, and it connected to my MiBand after a couple of minutes. I have to close Gliderun in the meantime because my phone is relatively old (HTC One S -- 2, 3 years?) so I can't have the app running all the time.

Ohh, I see, that makes a lot of sense! I'm a student for the majority of my day and don't really have any separate 'activities', so I didn't see the inherent benefit of activity mode, but that does make sense.

Ahh, I apologize about that, I completely neglected this tab. I figured the Activity tab was more important simply because of its location. This actually looks more like how I was hoping the app would function.

Thank you! Again, if there are any logs I can provide that would help, please let me know and I will certainly do so.
--edit--
I'm having an issue where the app doesn't seem to be updating the Global Stats tab. On the Activity tab, my total steps have been counted properly, but when I go to Global Stats, it only shows information from the previous time I synced (about 8 hours ago). I killed the app, re-connected, and re-synced, and the same thing happened.
--edit #2--
After messing around with the Global Stats tab, and switching views (24 hours/day/week), the app resynced on its own (not sure if it was a coincidence or from me switching views), and now the Global Stats tab has updated; but now it has slightly more steps than the Activity tab.
Not a big deal at all, but I figured you'd like to know!
I just found your app. It looks very promising.
Where would you prefer to have me send the feedback.
I understood there was also a Reddit thread somewhere - I could not find it.
Thanks

I had a Mi Band and used the MiFit app for the last couple months, but I lost the device. I've ordered a new one and I'm going to start using Gliderun mostly because of the Google Fit integration. While I'm waiting for my package I've been messing around with your app and trying to figure some things out so I'll be ready to go when my new band arrives. Here's some feedback:
The headphone icon opens up the music controls and the audio notifications; music controls/library only works with music stored on the phone, is there any way to integrate this with Google Music? There's only a couple of apps that I've seen do this (specifically GMusicFS), but it would be nice.
On the user screen: for any user input requiring a number (weight, height, goals, etc.) you have a scrolling number which is nice from a UI perspective, but when I have to enter any of these values for the first time, scrolling is very tedious. This is particularly brutal when I'm trying to set up a goal for the first time, I have to scroll all the way from 0 to 8,000. There should be a way to manually input a number using an on-screen keyboard as well. It also looks like the goal is limited to 20,000 steps, theoretically this should be unlimited.
User profile: I have my units set to imperial. When inputting my height for the major intervals you might want to make the height max out at 7-ft just in case. For the minor intervals, you should put the unit next to the number (inches) and I would limit the user to discrete numbers 1 through 12. I'm not sure how you're calculating height, but the way you have it set up it is very hard for a user to input their height in imperial units. For example: I am 6-ft 2-inches, in order to input my height I have to calculate how many hundredths of a foot 2-inches is. So in my case 2/12=.16666. The average person isn't going to do this and is going to give up when you can't just enter 6-ft 2-inches.
The compass UI needs a little work, it isn't quickly evident where north is. I would prefer a more traditional looking compass (maybe something similar to this). Also, for some reason my altitude is always blank.
Synchronize: I have the first three options enabled for Google Fit integration. The app always says disconnected, when I press the synchronize button it changes to connected, but I don't think anything is actually being synced. There should be some sort of progress bar when synchronizing with Google Fit so the user knows it's actually working. In my case I don't think it's working at all. I've enabled the option to download tracked activities from GFit, but nothing ever shows up in the stats.
In the settings, General: I would make an expert section to the settings menu that has to be manually activated and move Optimize track points and Recalculate calories there. Also for any option where you could be deleting or modifying data (everything under the "Other" section) I would have a confirmation dialog box pop up. That way if somebody accidentally presses one of those options they don't completely wipe out all there data.
In the settings, Audio: I would either explain the difference between Audio engine A and B or give the user an option to play example audio. Similar to how you have the option to "Listen to an example" of text-to-speech output in the main android settings.
In the settings, Notification: I think there needs to be a little more configuration for notifications. I really like the way the Notification version of the MiFit app allowed you to set the colors for the LEDs on the Mi Band as well as the number of times it vibrated and the number of times the LED blinked. I know this is a beta version, but I think a little more work needs to be done in this particular area if you want users to switch from the MiFit app. Being able to tell what app I'm getting a notification from just by looking at the band is extremely useful and it's going to make switching hard without it. I don't want to say you should copy the Notification settings screen from the MiFit app, but it has been implemented very well.
Settings: somewhere you need to provide Help information. For most of the options I'm not sure exactly what they're supposed to do, maybe have a ?-button next to the option that the user can press that will pop up a longer description of exactly what the option does.
Any thoughts on providing a dark theme as well? Just something simple where you change the background to black and the text to white, the green color should look good with both a dark and light background.
I saw you have sleep tracking on the list of things to improve upon, really looking forward to that. The MiFit app and Sleep as Android app provide a very clean UI for visualizing your sleep. I would try to implement something similar. I'm sure you've seen it, but this thread might have some hints on how to better pull the sleep data from the MiBand.
I know I wrote a lot, but you have done great work with this app in the short amount of time you've been developing it. I can't wait to see how this app progresses because I think you've got a really good app here. The design looks very good and polished it just needs a few tweaks here and there. Once I get my new Mi Band I'll provide some more feedback.
Keep up the great work. If you want to discuss any of this more I would be more than happy to do so.
Thanks for all that feedback! I add everything to my list. Will tackle the more important stuff first.
About audio.
I may eventually add a fallback into system players. The player provides a rythm guidance for your exercise by adjusting the playback rate to your desired cadence so it is rather specific. it is custom built.
About scrolling. If you tap you do not need to scroll. You can enter the number directly. This is NumberPicker standard. I may have missed one or two fields though.
I will increase the daily goals to something in the ultramarathon range.
About imperial input. You are absolutely right. Will change it soon..
I will see what I can do with the compass. It is all a matter of priorities.
Altitude comes from GPS.
GFit issue is a glitch too. Click sync again. I'm now focusing more on FitnessSyncer as it is much more powerful.
Sleep tracking is working. You can see it on Daily Stats. It may need some tweaking though. The band does not really export sleep data so I had to write the algorithms myself and I've already noticed a couple of issues.
Also the custom notifications is a great idea. I have to fit that into a general API. The app is meant to integrate other bands. Just need to get some samples.

I may eventually add a fallback into system players. The player provides a rythm guidance for your exercise by adjusting the playback rate to your desired cadence so it is rather specific. it is custom built.

The current implementation is good, it was more of a wish list item.

You're right I don't know how I missed that, apparently I've been using Android wrong this whole time.

I honestly would remove scrolling completely from the goals and just leave it as user input. I don't know if scrolling is very useful when we're talking about differences in thousands of steps.

Apparently I was just in a bad location at the time. However it is reporting a different altitude than GPS Test. Gliderun shows me at an altitude of 119ft whereas GPS Test shows me at an altitude of 233 ft so I'm not sure what is going on. Is there some sort of log I can provide?

I don't personally use FitnessSyncer, but I'm sure there are a lot of people who do. Looking forward to GFit integration. One quick question: once GFit is fully integrated, will I be able to sync all the data I collect with Gliderun or is there a limit on how far back I can go? Likewise will I be able to import all of my past GFit data into Gliderun?

Sleep tracking is working. You can see it on Daily Stats. It may need some tweaking though. The band does not really export sleep data so I had to write the algorithms myself and I've already noticed a couple of issues.

The detailed control over notifications is the one thing I'm going to miss the most from the MiFit app. Hopefully it's not too much trouble to add these controls. The only thing I can think of to figure out how to add these controls would be to decompile the Notification version of the MiFit app or see if the api calls on this website are useful.
The more we talk and the more I mess around with the app the more I'm liking it.
Thanks again for all the valuable input!

You are not the first one having trouble with the NumberPickers. I think they are not very well designed. I do not find the field edition intuitive either. Most of the time I forget to click accept so I lose the edition. Maybe I'm doing something wrong.

Yes. The plan is at least to space them in 100 or 250 units

At the moment I'm just showing the Altitude reported by GPS and I think that it has to be corrected by a complex calculation that can be retrieved from a webservice. That may be the issue.

Last time I tried it I could upload and download all gliderun data. I found GFit rather odd. Up to now it is unclear to me when it really uploads the data to the servers making it is visible from the web or other device. Also you do not retrieve exactly what you save.

Sleep periods seem rather accurate. Still I have to do something to detect short sleep interruptions. Phases analysis is there too although I think that it has to be taken with a pich of salt. (Not only in this app)

Hey Tincore
I think you have done some really great work on the app .. but when I tried to use it yesterday I got a bit confused (maybe you can help me out here).
I couldn't actually see where my step count was being shown. I was assuming it would be on the activity screen but it just didn't seem to update. Is there a way to force a refresh of the count? The only time the app seemed to update was when I reconnected my miband.
The update to fitnesssyncer worked well .. is there anyway to have it automatically sync (either time period or when you open the app possibly)?
I found a spelling mistake as well Where you add your weight and waist, chest, hip sizes there is a "thight" measurement (im guessing its meant to be thigh).
Thanks for your hard work!

Using Android Lollipop/Marshmallow's lock screen notifications?
Tired of having to press the power button to see them?
Want your phone to turn on new notifications, but only when you grab to look at it?
Want your phone to turn on right when you take it out of your pocket?
Then this app is for you!
Introducing the all new efficiency app Glimpse Notifications:

This all new app fills an annoying hole in Android Lollipop's lock screen notification system. It's nice, it's shiny, but you always need to push that damn power button. This app does it for you, and also respects quiet times and whether or not your device is in your pocket.
It also does this:
recurring notifications (screen on and/or sound)
emulate LED notifications that the system lockscreen no longer shows
Double-tap to lock function for lockscreen
custom lockscreen display time
lockscreen lock-on-cover function
At the same time the app is completely for free and without ads!

Yes, been using that one (and others) as well, but I always wondered why everybody wants to reinvent the lockscreen. I'm using a pattern lock and found none of the existing solutions to work well.

Strange. So, have you observed the screen turning on even if the proximity sensor is covered?
I plan on adding an extension to the pocket mode to cover the following use case: if the phone is pocketet or face down and you hear a notification, you typically take the phone and see what happened. Then I want it to turn on, but not necessarily everytime I take it out of my pocket. So something like "if coming out of pocket AND last notification less than N seconds ago -> turn on screen".
Perhaps we can sort your issues with the sensor out on the way.

yes, I covered the proximity sensor and sent the test notification and the screen turned on
I tried a different app that does basically the same like yours and it has the same problem, so maybe it's something related to Samsung?

Linked here from the OP's comment in the ACDisplay xda portal article. Looking very nice so far. Only feature I miss from ACDisplay is the active mode, i.e. screen on when removed from pocket, regardless of notification. This is a great way to keep power button use down, especially for devices like the N5 with known hardware button failures.

Yeah I already assumed people will want that and I'm planning to cover this use case as well. Personally, when I had apps working like that in the past I found it a bit annoying that everytime I took out the phone to put it like on the table it turned on (even if there were pending notifications). That's why I thought about how I could narrow down the logic to be more useful.

Well, I have to say, this is a great app. The only thing it needs is the black list feature, that would really create a full circle of usability and applicability.

Thanks. Well, as a matter of fact I started out with having a black list and found that to be less useful than just marking the few notification sources I'm actually interested in (like Mail, SMS, WA). I'll think about throwing in a switch to configure black/white list behaviour, but it's not top of the list TBH.

Big oops here - I just realized that for the testing notification, I skip all the other checks because I figured it would confuse people if the other other filters prevented the test. Turns out the way I did it it confused us all. I'm going to change that in the next version (which is taking shape).

Yeah, I can understand your point, but a black list, in addition to allowing users to block apps whose notifications they don't consider important/desirable, would also allow users to block out any app/process/service that Glimpse may report about, such as 'wireless networks available', you know, things from Android system or System UI, whose notifications just drain the battery without any real purpose.
But hey, it's just a suggestion, it's totally up to you what gets implemented.
Great app nevertheless..

Could it be possible that instead of whole screen being lit up, only the area where notification is shown is lit up in black and white color? Just like active display ?

Hallo all,
I own a GW4 Classic. I used to own the GW. During walking i used to have audio messages every 1 km with the GW. It would tell me my heartbeat, average speed and so on. With my new GW4 i can't get any sound out of it. Firmware version DUJA. All notifications, system, ringtone, audio, media and so on work fine. All settings are standard, i resseted the watch twice. It should work out of the box.
The audio Guide is on and i set the frequency on one min. for instance, start walking. After one minute, it vibrates with a black screen with green letters telling me the distance. Thats all.
I can not imagine it is a hardware problem? What do you guys think?

Interesting. I have used this when cycling, while connected to my Galaxy Buds+. I've never touched the settings, and it worked just fine. Actually glad to know that I can adjust it or turn it off. Might be an obvious question, but are you using headphones/earbuds? If not, you've no doubt checked the audio settings on your watch?

Right, I see that now in your original post. I would suggest you keep playing with it, trying various options, settings, etc., and not send it in for repair (at least not yet). The feature works, and in my experience, this kind of issue is most likely not a repair issue, but a setting or system limitation issue.
I am trying for 2 weeks already. Deleted the apps completely. Deleted the plugins for the watch. Reset to factory 3 times. New firmware this morning. Twice contact with Samsung. I am completely lost.....

Deleted the apps completely? Isn't that a systems app?
Don't think so Samsung wearable is an Android app. Together with a plugin it connects to your phone thru BT. Then you have Samsung health for your fitness stuff and Samsung health monitor for ECG and Blood Pressure.
I deleted all, deleted storage and cache first. Like i said, if you delete all the apps, reset the watch, and do not roll back a backup, it should be as out of the factory. Connect to Wearable app, the plugin is installed and all should work as out of the box. Nobody complains about this "audio guide" feature, so it looks like it's only my watch which is faulty.
Would be nice if i got some feedback, if other people struggle with this feature.

Few days ago I have install last firmware (photo in attach) and now i have a same problem. Almost one year I used it for running (gw4), and after every km I got audio guidence, now I only have vibration, screen turns on for a few seconds but without any voice.
