I can't find my Device Maintenance shortcut on my J7 - Samsung Galaxy J7 Questions & Answers

When I go into Settings and tap Device Maintenance, and then tap on the 3 dots to get Create Home Screen Shortcut, it says one already exists but I can't find it on any screen. How can I either locate the missing icon or create a new one somehow? Thanks.

If you're referring to the cluster of apps grouped under the label Samsung, then my answer is, "No".
That is what you're referring to, correct?

Ok, I found it in the apps drawer. However there is no option to move it to a home screen, only uninstall. How do I move the icon from the app drawer to the home screen?

Just hold your finger down on them until the menu pops up. If you want fewer dock screens (5 or 10 icons instead of 15 as you scroll) you can change that in menu > preferences > dock settings > number of docks.

[Q]LauncherPro: How to get back the "+" icon on the dock?

Hello guuys,
I just bought LauncherPro and i can't figure out how to solve my problem:
As you know, we can add programs simply by clicking the "+" symbol. 3edit dock shortcut" will pop up and let you choose between cahnge shortcut, change icon, and swipe gesture action.
I'm trying to get back the "+" symbol from the dock, but still don't know how to do it. I've the LauncherPro icon option, or the custom one, but can't find the default "+" icon.
Hope you can help me guys, i'm gonna be maaaaaaaaad!
Cheers.
Press and hold one of the icons in the dock until it appears.
Thanks for your reply. But i think you misunderstood. I know how to edit my icon/shortcut. My issue is that i can't find any "+" icon.

As far as I know, they are only there until you replace them with something else. No way to re-add them for re-use.

Yeah you can't them back once you overwrite it. If you want the icon itself try decompiling the apk and looking in the res folder. Otherwise LPP has support for scrollable docks (just swipe the dock to the right/left) so check the other two if you just want the look of it
Thanks for your answers guys.
I unrar the apk and found the icon i was looking for.
You can find it in the attached file.

New to Sensation - som help in disabling things

Hello, forum!
I would like to disable a couple of things in my HTC Sensation. It's running the stock firmware and I would like to hide or disable the Calendar, contacts, album and video pages (menus?) that are accessed when I swipe the home screen.
Also, is there a way to put icons in the second page (similarly to the iPhone)? I'm used to having pages of applications/games, rather than having to click the menu button and viewing all the applications.

Hi,
You do know that if you long press an icon, you can drag it into the bin.
Similarly,if you just long press any empty bit of screen, the option to put a widget or app or shortcut on that spot becomes available.
That works on all of the screens.
Thanks a lot!! I wasn't aware I could delete these widget things.

Managing Home Screens
You can long press any application while in the application drawer and drop it on your desktop screen. You can also move application from screen to screen by dragging the application to the edge of the screen and it should move to the next screen.

hmm, I don't see the point - I am on Omega 2.0, Holo-Launcher an Chameleon launcher, and there is the s-pen-setting where you may choose the action when pulling out the s-pen, an it works like a charme. Launches S-Note when pulling out the s-pen.
Do I miss something?

I would like to open a shortcut or bookmark that is placed on a home screen. Example: I create document in s-note or what ever app I use and save a link to it on one of my home screens so when I tap on it s-note or what ever app opens straight to the document I have started. I would like to have it so when I remove the s-pen the document opens with the correct app ready to edit.

You can choose the shortcut option in auto-launch and create a new shortcut which should be auto-launched, which will be the same one you placed on your home screen

You can try this app http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2175693 because if you cant create the shortcut again then I can't open it in my application
I don't understand what you mean by "you cant create the shortcut again". The problem is I don't see a way to find the homescreen shortcut in the s-pen helper open shortcut listings.
I will checkout the app you mentioned but it seems it is only for s-note and then you have to use the name the app says and not your own document name.
BTW thanks again for a great app and you great support.

By can't create again I mean that if you cannot find it in the shortcut menu of spen helper. Currently you cannot use any shortcuts which are already on the screen. If I find any way to retrieve shortcuts which are already on the screen I'll add it in a later version

Using Nova:
Get into the home widgets selection, add a Nova widget of type Activity, then scroll the list until you find Settings, expand it and scroll up to the Battery item. Select it.
There you can also find all the possible shortcuts.
(I've translated the menu items from my Italian version)
Trying to add App Mgr using Nova Activities. Doesn't work. When I click or hold the setting it opens App Mgr but doesn't add it to home screen

If you use QuickShortcutMaker

Thanks. But got it to work finally. No need for another app.

any chance you could share how this is done?
To be honest , not sure. I just kept trying normal processes for adding widgets, then choosing nova activities, and under settings there are a ton of options for apps/app mgr, I kept trying different ones and one stuck.
Can not use for nova launcher.

Thanks for this.
The only thing that worked for me (Samsung S9+, Android 8.0.0) was the Nova launcher. QuickShortcutMaker went through the motions, but didn't actually put a shortcut on the home screen.
The Nova launcher works a treat, but why do Samsung oblige me to replace their launcher within the first half hour of owning their otherwise very nice phone?
I always switch on "Do not disturb" before going to sleep, as I use my phone as an alarm clock, so need to leave it switched on, but of course don't want alerts all night. As you can imagine, the last thing I want to be doing when I'm tired is effing around with settings, so having a shortcut to DND is essential.
The other shortcut I created was to the "Change Home" setting so I can easily switch back and forth between Nova and the "Samsung Experience" whenever I want. And you know something's going to be dodgy when they call it the "Something-or-other Experience"
Grrrrrrrrrrrr!!

it may be necroposting..but I'm having this exact same issue on android 10..I'd be infinitely happy with some sort of widget for this task...
theres a way to do it via the widgets screen when using nova launcher..I cant remember the exact steps for it.
