The OP6 is known to support the Galileo satellite navigation system-but was not authorized for use in the US until recently. I'm on 9.02 and using the GPSTest App that supports Galileo, in Galileo coverage and only see GPS, GLONASS and SBAS. A Pixel 3 user has reported seeing Galileo data being used with the GPSTest app. Over 20 good satellites are unused in the OP6.
How is Galileo data turned on in the OP6 and what turns it off in the first place considering it is apparently enabled when in Europe?

Hi all, I have been searching everywhere for a GPS software that incorporates traffic data into its route planning. However, it seems that none exists in the USA. But I know for a fact that Acura cars have this feature. Where can I find such software? Thanks!
Take a look at Route 66 Navigate. The latest update to this software claims to accept TMC data from the internet (i.e. over GPRS/EDGE/HSDPA) or via RDS (if your GPS hardware supports that).
I installed TomTom in my phone but AT&T discontinued the data plans. Does TomTom uses data to work?
tomtom uses a gps receiver.. you don't need the plan
you will need it if you are planning to use plus services (e.g. traffic)
Thank you AthenaLod and nir36.
if i'm not mistaken though you will need some type of gps plan though......
(this is att's)

no gps's is free to any device which got gps
it's just a matter of recieving the signals that the gps
satelites broadcast
nobody can detect or stop you from reciving the signals
so no gps plan as it's not a product that can be sold
gps plans are only for online GPS.
when using a gps receiver you don't need a plan, only the receiver and an app.
well thats good to know......
hi,
i am able to c more than 6 or 7 statellite with HTC GPS tool by using inbuilt GPS, but no coordinates are displaying.
when i use an external gps (holux) i am able to get 4 or 5 satellite with HTC gps tool, and getting gps coordinates as well.
have any idea why the inbuild GPS not getting coordinates even after detecting more than 6 or 7 satellites ?
Hello,
According "GPS Test" (android app for checking GPS stats) the Blaze is capable of both GPS and GLONASS (Russian equivalent of GPS).
Currently the phone is set to use both GPS and GLONASS simultaneously which provides very accurate positioning. I can see with GPS Test that the phone is locking on to GPS and using GLONASS to assist GPS.
Is there a way to set the phone to prefer GLONASS over GPS or disable GPS entirely or vice versa?
Turbo GPS, downloadable from Google Play has a feature that displays nmea sentences from a built in gps. However, although the built in gps is on and lat/long displays in Turbo GPS (and GPS Test), there is apparently no nmea sentence output by the gps. Is this attributable to the gps hardware, or a driver/software issue. I cannot yet post comments in the developer forum - especially the Xoom UMTS 3g Jellybean forum where custom ROMS are developed. So, if someone can raise this issue there I'd be very thankful.
I am downloading update 154 now and have been running 146.
Thanks,
armido

Motorola confirms the Xoom's built in gps only gives position. The Xoom is probably not the only device who's gps does this. So, the gps is useless for programs that use nmea data - like OpenCPN. We need somebody to put together a server that uses positional information to generate 'fake' nmea data so our Xooms can use the built in gps with OpenCPN. Anyone able to help out there?

Solution using internal gps with programs in chroot linux environment

'GPS Share WIFI', downloadable from Google Play enables Xoom users to connect the built in gps with programs running in a linux chroot environment. No external router or other device required!
